Would there be any issues if I create some 600 keywords in LR?

Im trying to find a way to store the original final name (from before import/copy of pictures in old pre-Lightroom folder structure to new folder structure).   There doesnt seem to be a metadata field for 'source folder', so it seems the best I can do is manually set a keyword along the lines of   OrigPath=E...\Nikon\folder
The catch is my current photo library is spread over about 500+ folders.
One issue I can see is that they will take up a lot of space in the keyword list which might make it harder to use the dropdown etc for setting other keywords
Im using keywords as they can be directly editied in Windows Explorer Properties etc (as 'tags').
Is there a better way?

Ok, step by step.
The current folder structure is haphazard.  Likewise file names which include duplicates (for many reasons, multiple cameras with similar numbering, folder partial duplicates for making albums for distribution etc).  Some 12,000 files accumulated over 10 years or so.
And now I'm starting with Lightroom.  I think I've figured out a workflow going forward ... Thank you DAM book!
So, first assumption... It's a good idea to import/copy the old library into the new folder structure.   Is that a bad idea?  As opposed to basically running two libraries which will complicate archival and backup.
The file names are changing to ensure uniqueness in the new folder structure.
old1\a.jpg.    and.  old2\a.jpg. may both be copied to new17\....    or whatever.
(And also, consistency with the new file name convention).
Second, a point of principle.  I hate discarding information.  Some of the old folder names signify 'collections', though most dont.  So filtering on some of the old folder names will help categorization in lightroom.    As opposed to starting over.
Third, can I be sure I will never need to locate the original file?
Windows Exploder... fair question.  Basically I'm still easing into LR and need training wheels.  Albeit limited ones as Exploder doesn't read RAW metadata.  (But 80% of the old files are JPG ).
So....
First, what is the appropriate metadata field for this?   Exif.ImageID sounds plausible.  Is that right?
Second, is there a way to automatically populate that field on import?
At this point, this is where I'm at... (Lacking answers to these questions and based on the little I know so far)....
Import/Add the old library into LR using a temp catalog, setting a keyword (PreLR)
In LR, folder by folder, (yuk) set a keyword "under" PreLR with the folder name.
This is where the 500+ keywords comes in.
Using hierarchical keyword is a way to hide them when needed (most of the time, going forward, I hope!).
Write the metadata back to files/sidecars.
Reopen main catalog.
Import/copy to new folder/ filename structure.
Archive old library offline and delete.

If you make an appointment at the Genius Bar about a problem, they will check and evaluate the device, and if it warrants a replacement under warranty, they make the final determination. We are users here. This is a user to user support forum. We cannot determine what Apple will do. I can tell you what I already did, the warranty follows the device.

I hope this will help you with your problem:
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
You can restore your backup whenever you want from iTunes or iCloud, depending where you made it.
Let us know if you succeeded or need any further help.
I believe you are missing the point. The OP has already restored from back up, but failed to include a specific app in the back up and is trying to recover data for it, which in this case is not possible.

There shouldn't be. I went from iOS5.whatever to iOS6.1 with no issues.
Just make sure to back everything up before you do it, just in case all doesn't go as planned.
I always do mine the old fashioned way, download the full OS via iTunes so if you've already got it linked to a computer and been using iTunes to do updates/syncing that's how I'd suggest you do it.

    Thanks.

  • Would there b any problme on storing too much varibales in Session variable

How many maximum number of attributes i can store in Session ? Would there be any kind of problem ?

The limit depends on Integer.MAX_VALUE and the JVM memory available. Just profile your webapp to see if it doesn´t eat too much memory.
That said, how much is "much"? In a decent webapplication you normally don´t need to worry about it. Are you sure that your webapplication is properly designed? Consult your project architect/lead.

  • If I bought an iMac from America would there be any differences/problems?

I live in Australia. If I bought an iMac from America would there be any differences/problems with me using it in Australia & connecting it to other Apple products (that were purchased in Australia)?

For that matter, you will receive cables which are incompatible with Australian electrical mains outlets.
Therefore, you will need a plug adapter.
You should also check with Customs for duties and import regulations and restrictions.
In my country, for example, all electrical devices imported from outside the EU are subject to duties and VAT and, if they are radios, TVs or any comparable device (and an internet-enabled PC is considered comparable), they must also be approved by the Department of Communications for compliance to radio frequency standards. In some rare cases, approval may be denied, most of the time it costs a very high fee.

  • If I buy an ipod touch in America will there be any issues with the fact that I live in Ireland?

I want to buy an ipod touch in America as it will be cheaper but will there be any issues regarding charging it since I live in Ireland?

The iPod does not come with a wall charger, It comes with a cable that you connect to the iPod on one end and a USB port on the other. USB voltage is a standard 5 VDC nominal

  • I set up Icloud, now when I try to listen to a song on my ipone 5s it asks me if I want to "download over cellular"? and additional fees may apply.  I've already bought this music, why would there be any more fees?

I bought my first Iphone - the Iphone S about a month ago.  I was able to listen to music no problem.  I recently figured out how to get my photos off of my phone and on to my PC, but was prompted to sign up for ICloud to do it.  Now when I try to listen to music on my phone, it asks me to download it from Icloud and asks "download over cellular"?  "Additional fees may apply when downloading phones over cellular".  I've already bought all my music, why would there be more fees and shouldn't ICloud have mentioned this?  Seems I need to take a class just to figure all this out.

The clouds you see next to your music on the device and iCloud are two different things. When your music is not on your device it is in iTunes in the Cloud. Not the same thing as iCloud which is used to sync information between devices and house backups of your device contents. So that little cloud you see next to your songs is telling you that the music is not on your device. That's why it is giving you the message - because when you click on it, it is attempting to download it to your device.
What may have happened is when you imported your photos to the PC, you may have sync'd your device via iTunes, and you did not have the Sync Music option checked in your device Profile screen.
Hook up your device to your PC and open iTunes. Make sure the sidebar is showing (Control+S if you cannot see the sidebar with Devices listed), and click on your device to open the Device Profile screens to the right. Click on the Music tab, and make sure that the Sync All Music or Sync Selected Music box is checked. If you have Sync Selected Music checked, then below that, make sure you check all music that you want on your device. Then click on SYNC at the bottom (or APPLY).
Once you have successfully sync'd your music to your device, you will no longer see the cloud next to the songs, and you also will no longer get a message since you will have the songs physically on your device and not in iTunes in the Cloud.
    Cheers,

  • Would there be any reason for a hotspot created in InDesign to change size when exported as a SWF?

    Hello
I've got a 280-page InDesign (CS5) document with invisible buttons/ hotspots throughout which I want to export as a SWF.
Once exported, the buttons/ hotspots appear to be sized/ positioned correctly on the first dozen or so pages. Afterwards, the hotspots are consistently sized and positioned incorrectly over the buttons; so that if you were to try and click on the button, you wouldn't actually be clicking on the hotspot at all.
    Things I've tried so far:
Exporting the pages in smaller batches, rather than as a single 280-page file
Export the SWF at different sizes
Checking that the hotspost don't have any blank areas inside their boxes (in the same way you can move an image inside a picture box and have blank areas)
I've hit a wall with this – any help/ suggestions you're able to offer would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks for your time.

Thanks, but I have searched here but have not found or heard a direct answer to my question as stated above...

  • Boost M2 slot to 256G and install OS there. Any issues u530 Touch

I want to install a 256 SSD in the M2 slot and move the OS and most of my programs there leaving the HD for large files (video and images)  I am making the following assumptions.  Please let me know if I left something out.
Pre install - Moved many fies to onedrive including outlook .pst files, favorites for IE and so on.  Only move files here i want reinstalled on the c: drive.  Once done, set onedrive to "make available online only."
Backed up to a portable hard drive.
    1.  Install and format the SSD as the new systems drive (c:\)
    2.  Change the BIOS to reflect this as the boot drive.  (BIOS is  upgraded to the latest version)
    3.  Fresh install of windows on the new c drive.
    4.  Do not install express cache.
    5.  Update drivers - Are there any specific Lenovo drivers I will need to reinstall or can i just install the latest from Intel and others.
    6.  Reinstall other software and move other files as necessary.
    7.  Set one drive to make available offline and wait several hours for the files to be re-populated on the laptop.
    So what did I miss?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    hi duworm,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community,
If you're using WIndows 8 or 8.1, You might have a problem using a retail or a non Lenovo OS Installer.
It will not accept the Product key in the Mothebroard and will give you an activation error. But If you have your own Product key that came with the installer that you are going to use then it's not a problem.
About One Drive, Im not sure if it will look for the Same path(location) where the documents are from, or it will  ask you where to put them.
About the Lenovo Software, Aside from the Drivers for the hardware, One thing that may cause a Notification in your device Manager is the Software called Lenovo Energy Management, You'll need to install this if you want the device manager to be free of notification, all other Software can be left out.
You might also want to check this if you have any problem booting into the M2 slot

Aside from those, all should push through with your Steps.
