Would this Adapter work?

Hi, I've recently acquired a new macbook pro.
I have a samsung LCD TV that has a HDMI input. (the model no. for TV is SyncMaster 2032mw)
If I buy this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-DisplayPort-to-HDMI-ADAPTER-Display-Port-CONVERTERW0QQitemZ110469845389QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=it em19b884118d#ht_9496wt941
and connect everything up, would it work?
Thanks

It should, though you won't get audio through the HDMI input and will need to run the audio separately. If you will be using a separate audio system that won't be a problem, but if you need to use your TV's speakers, you'll need to check your TV to see if it can accept audio via another input when using the HDMI input for video; not all TVs can. If yours can't, you'll need this:

  • Will this adapter work?

Will this work for a TV that has S-Video?
Component to S-Video adapter from Radio Shack
    http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2486490&cp=&sr=1&origkw=co mponents-video&kw=components-video&parentPage=search

The item you are looking at is part of a system called RapidRun.
It connects onto the end of a large multicore cable to enable you to transmit both component and S-Video over long distances. The Component and S-Video signals in the cable are totally separate.
You would put one of the short cables you have suggested on either end of one of these :-
    http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2608165&cp=&sr=1&origkw=ra pidrun&kw=rapidrun&parentPage=search
That way you would have a long component and / or S-Video cable.
    IT IS NOT A CONVERTER!

  • Would this approach work?

I'd like my applets to have local read/write permission, and the clients I need to reach run IE5.5 or greater and have no jre installed, so I'm limited to the MS jvm. I want the user to only have to accept my certificate in the certificate dialog for my applets to have this permission - I don't want the client to have to edit or create any security or permission files. To this end, I've bought a Thawte Developers certificate, and I'd like to use cabarc and signcode to create a signed .cab file with my .class files inside. Once I've done this, would my goal be achieved? Has anybody tried this approach?

Yes it would work and we have done it,
We have a signed applet that has local read and write permission. It is signed with a Verisign developer certificate, but I guess Thawte would be the same. Our applet it persistent, i.e. cached so the only dialog that the user gets is one the first time the applet is accesed.

  • Would this RAM work in my 15" PB Ti G4?

Can anyone tell me if this would work in my 15" Powerbook Titanium G4?
OEM Apple Memory Module [Part Number: MA219G/A]
    Toshiba Brand
    512MB SDRAM PC133
    8Mx 64
    144 Pin
    15" Powerbook Ti G4   Mac OS X (10.4)
    15" Powerbook Ti G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

Not sure about whether it will work (I think it will) but you'll need two of those if it will. The RAM has to be installed in matched pairs on the G5.

  • How would this monitor work . . .

I'm looking for the least expensive monitor to work well with the Mac Mini: how would the Acer X171s, 17" LCD work, do you think?

Okay . . . now I see why I haven't gotten many replies on this one: poorly worded question. Really what I'm wondering is how well a monitor like that would perform. I get the sense that folks are buying monitors that cost from $300 on up--Apple's being almost $600, I think. So, I'm just wondering what kind of performance issues might arise from using a less expensive monitor (this one is about $180) with the Mac Mini. Thanks for the info. about plug-and-play, though . . . that will help, if the monitor itself is worth it.

  • Would this SSD work in a MBP?

I have a 13" mid 2012 MBP and have thought about switching out the HDD or Optical Drive for an SSD, and was wondering if the following one would work:
    http://www.gigantti.fi/product/tietokoneet/kiintolevyt/SANEX240GBSSD/sandisk-ext reme-240-gb-ssd-massamuisti
I am really untechnical and dont want to screw up, so I will have that store install one for me in case it fits into the machine.
Edit: I know its in Finish, but scroll down for the technical specs. I think you can understand them as they are.

Looks as if it would work just fine. If I were you, I'd be sure and install it in the hard drive bay - some people have had luck with installing SSDs in the optibay, some haven't. It just seems as if MacBook Pros 'prefer' for the startup disk to be in the hard drive bay.
Here's a video that will show you how to install the drive. You'll need a Phillips #00 and a Torx T6 screwdrivers to get inside. It's really a simple procedure that you can do yourself - an Apple Store won't do it for your but I'm sure that a general computer repair shop would.
You also might want to look at getting an external enclosure for your 'old' drive and just booting to it, use Disk Utility to format the SSD, and clone your old drive to the new. Instructions are found here - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4122.
Good luck, and call back with any questions...

  • Would this mouse work well on my iMac?

    http://www.amazon.com/OEM-Microsoft-Intellimouse-5-Button-Optical/dp/B000BSHJYQ/ ref=sr11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1240008004&sr=8-1
I'm looking for a new mouse to replace my Mighty Mouse. I'm just so tired of how the scroll wheel/ball ALWAYS stops working after a while, on all of them. I saw this 5-button mouse on Amazon and was wondering if it will work the same way my Mighty Mouse currently works (Exposé, Application Switcher, Dashboard, etc.) by pressing the buttons?

I have that mouse and it works fine on a Mac. If you want to use the two extra buttons (on the side), you will have to install Microsoft's driver software (which you configure through a special System Preferences pane). If you just want to use left and right buttons, plus the scroll wheel, and adjust the usual sensitivity settings, the built-in Apple mouse driver works fine.
Right now I use an even plainer Microsoft mouse
    [Microsoft Optical Mouse (Blue)|http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-K81-00004-Optical-Mouse-Blue/dp/B000068M P2/ref=sr112?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1240013923&sr=1-12]
with Apple's mouse driver. But I used that model you linked to previously.
Odd tip: This worked with my current MS mouse. You can't set the center-click (clicking down on the scroll wheel) using the Apple mouse driver. But if you connect the Apple Mighty Mouse and set the center-click to do something (I have mine set to do Exposé ), and you then switch to the Microsoft mouse, the setting for the center-click still works (even though you cannot change it).

  • Would this form work?

After looking through the templates, "Supplies Order" seems to be the closest to what I need. Could someone take a look at this link and let me know if I'm close. I am a designer and scripts, etc. totally baffle me!

    Hi there,
You can use any template as a starting point and fully customize the look of the form with ease. Just add/remove/drag fields around. No scripting necessary.

  • HT4864 How would this process work with an alias?

I currently use gmail for iCloud? I forward iCloud's messages to gmail and I have the SMTP server setup to send gmails from an iCloud alias from gmail.
How can I set up this alias on my iPad and iPhone? The server accepts the primary icloud login address, but not the alias
    Thanks,
    Julian

The actual server for me.com/mac.com is no more. Which means that you can receive emails that are going to those addresses, but sending is done from @icloud.com.

  • Would this device work with the Live Pro?

    To make it wireless?

I have a HP Officejet 6500 E709a hooked to the USB port on a Time Capsule. I am also running Lion 10.7.1. Printing from any computer on my network works. Faxing must be done at the All-in-One. To scan, you MUST hook the All-in-One to the computer via a USB cable. When in System Preferences, Print and Scan, you click on the + sign, Lion should "see" the printer and then will ask if you want to download and install the software for the printer. It is about a 100 meg download. I got the software while the printer was hooked to the Time Capsule and was accessing the printer via the wireless network.

  • Would this storage card work in the Media Card slot of my W700?

    Hi,
I'm interested in buying this Lexar 133x SDHC Card:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-professional-133x-sdhc-card?category=213
Basicallyl, I want to use it as another storage drive (as opposed to putting in my camera or other device).  So after I insert it, I want to be able to format it and use it as another storage area.  Would this card work?
The reason I'm gravitating to that card is that is that I see in the specs that is minimum 20MB/sec read transfer rate and it does not take up one of my USB slots.
However, even if it does work, would I be better off with their Echo ZX plug-and-forget it USB drive when they ship it?:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-echo-zx-backup-drive-0?category=90
If both work, which would be faster as a storage drive?
    Thanks.

It is a SDHC card so it should work on the card reader of the W700.
