Would you firefox devs please stop showing my browsing history everytime I open a new tab?

Like seriously, all that talk about how secure this browser is and then, BANG!!! You show my recent history in 9 nice big tiles, completely ruining what you strive for. Please just dump this stupid feature.
Pretty please.

You can set the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page to about:blank or another website if you do not want the default about:newtab page.
See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):
You can create these Boolean prefs on the about:config page via the right-click context menu to prevent Firefox from generating thumbnails for the about:newtab page.
*name: browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled with value: true
*name: pageThumbs.enabled with value: false
Delete the thumbnails folder in the Firefox profile folder to remove already stored web page thumbnails.

• My firefox, after update to 37.0.2 is closing everytime I open a new tab

Hello,
My firefox, after update to 37.0.2 is closing everytime I open a new tab.
I started with a new profile and have the same problem.
I formated my HD and instaled everything again, and I still have the same problem
Regards,
Cristal

You can check for issues with the new tab page setting.
See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):
You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set that pref to your preferred new tab page.
* the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
* the default home page is about:home
* for a blank page you can use about:blank
The browser.newtabpage.enabled pref should be set to true to use the page set via browser.newtab.url as the new tab page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

Also may want to reset Firefox just in case there is an issue with changed preferences.
If that is not the case I also recommend a malware scan.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

• Everytime I open a new tab, the firefox window gets smaller and smaller.

Every since I updated my Firefox, I have had issues. I love firefox so I would like to have this fixed please :) Well, everytime I open a new window or tab, the Firefox window gets smaller. Kind of like I hit the button by the close screen button. I have to actually hit that button to minimize the screen and hit it again to maximize it. It is sort of annoying. Is there something I can do?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

• When right-clicking firefox in the task bar... v5 does NOT open a new tab, or open a new window when selected. Only crtl-N opens a new window iff Firefox is the active window.

Today FF 5.0 was DL-d and installed (automatic update is/was active). Help->About-> shows version 5.0, and there were no problems with the install.
I have ASUS G72 running W7 with the latest MS updates via auto-update.
FF is pinned to the task bar.
Previous version(s) allowed for opening new windows and tabs by right click of FF icon on task bar, and selecting "Mozilla FireFox" (which opened new window) , or selecting "Open New Window." Opening a new tab in the current session could be done by selecting "Open New Tab."
These features do not operate in the latest version (5.0), or have I fumbled the ball (by not having something set right in this version.
Thanks in advance for you help. Keep up the great work.

If you have tabs on top and no menu then the tabs are in a "Windows" area so there is no space to right. If you put tabs back to the bottom you will have most of your old behavior but because of the changes to tabs on top most of the tab context menu stuff all of the context menu part was lost except the customize toolbar stuff, double-clicking on an empty spot was restored, and eventually during the FF 4 beta most of the tab extensions Firefox messed up eventually worked again except in the area to the right of the tabs.
The Windows part of that double-click has to maximize or restore to normal,
and you have to be able to drag the window by it;'s title bar.
You can make Firefox 4.0.1 and '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.17, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)]

• Everytime I open a new tab, Firefox automatically refreshes the currently open ones.

When I attempt to open a new tab, Firefox automatically refreshes the already opened and loaded websites in other tabs.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
* [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

• Firefox 21 does not show start menu and taskbar sub-links of new tab, private window

Firefox does not show start menu icon 's submenu containing links to new tab,new window and new private window.Same happens with taskbar pinned shortcut. It does not show the above three options when I right click on it. I have installed Firefox stable, beta, aurora and nightly at the same time. All the four use different profiles.I have this setup since Firefox 12.There was no problem before v21.I tried reinstalling all the four.Resetting the stable version profile. The options do appear in othe ruser accounts.I want this option for stable version only.I think these are not available for testing versions.I tried all the suggestions in this thread:

I have deleted the file in my downloads folder. I searched in the start button pop up for the name and deleted it from there also. I have searched online but found nothing relating to this. Does anyone know how to get rid of it. I'm hesitant to uninstall and reinstall the browser...

You can check the value of the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page.
Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

• Firefox just updated, now everytime i open a new tab, it opens yahoo search. I want it to open my topsites when i open a new tab. (sorry for my poor english)

Just like the question...

Type '''''about:config''''' in a new window address bar. Click ''''''I will be careful''''''. You will see all kinds of information that Firefox uses so it knows how to work. There is a search bar at the top of the page. Type ''''''browser.startup.homepage'''''' and check its entry. You can change it to what ever web page you want, or you can enter; ''''''about:blank'''''' for a blank page. I use the Firefox home page; '''''about:home'''''. After, go back to the search bar and type; '''''browser.newtab.url'''''. This is what a new tab page will display. Do the same thing here. You can have the same for both or have each open to different pages.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
