Would you prefer Logitech or Zagg Keys keyboard for iPad?

I would like to buy a new keyboard for an iPad. What do you (iPad users) prefer? Logitech or Zaggkeys? They're both good but I'm looking for a good feel, easy keys, keys that require soft pressure to press down, style, simple, etc. Let me know your opinions

Try resetting the iPad (hold the home and power keys down until the Apple logo appears).
If that does not help, I would contact the manufacturer of the KB and either get a fix or a refund.

  • How long does an apple wireless keyboard for iPad battery last?

    does anyone know how long does an apple keyboard for iPad battery last? Thanks

    No.  Once sn iOS version comes out that is not compatible with your hardware, you cannot, obviously, update iOS any longer.  However, your iPad running the last release of iOS compatible with it will continue to run that iOS release at the same speed it always did.
    Nothing about any computer ever slows down with age - your cpu, RAM and storage all function at the same speed as they always did.  New software may add features that tax your system more than a newer system would be taxed, but nothing about your system changes just because the device ages.
    At some point, our system simply is unable to update or run newer software because that newer or updated software requires hardware features that yours simply does not have.  But your exisiting software on your existing hardware will continue to run just as it always has.
    As to when your system becomse unable to handle new software or iOS features, that is purely a matter of how quickly newer hardware comes out and how quickly software developers move to new features that your system cannot handle.
    There is no inherent reason to believe that an iPad 4 will not be compatible with the next release of iOS - it might not be, but it may very well be.  Depends entirely on what changes the next release (whenever that may be) introduces, and what new device hardware Apple may be working on.

  • Ask: Would you prefer to have your library organizefd by #hashtags?

    I was thinking about how to organize my library with the given tools of folders, projects and libraries... and I just dont think its an efficient method. It takes me hours to organize it and then if i get to a photo that was on a trip i need to decide to put it in a folder of the trip or the place that ive been. I have visited some places more then once but the reasons could be different. Because when I think about say Hawaii, I think of everyone I know, I also think of the events ive done there and the things that brought me there. But then when an event expands beyond Hawaii and go abroad or just to other islands what do I then decide to categorize that photo? I could just have everything based on tagging instead so I can decide how to see it organized. It would be like a bunch of smart folders instead of actual folders. I see it looking similar to how it is now but every time you move the photo into a folder or folders in folders it options you to add a hashtag for that category and adding further categories as you see it makes sense. Giving you the option to categorize photos non-lineally, as it makes sense of your mind. If apple could go to this method would you agree that this would work? what do you think would be the downfalls to this? What are some examples of how you see this would work?

    An interesting approach, but sofar I prefer the way Aperture works:
    The strength of Aperture is to seperate the static container structure from the more dynamic tagging and using structure. Each image has a unique container; and the name and location on the container can only be based on one criterium - but keywords, captions, headlines, places, faces - all that can be changed easily and be adapted dynamically to your needs, and can evolve freely as your objectives change.

  • Hard drive duke out...which one would you put your life on the line for?

    As far as SATA drives go only...
    Seagate 320 gig Barracuda (ST3320820AS) vs. Samsung 320 gig HD320KJ vs. factory WD/Apple 250 gig drive. All about the same age (3/07) except for the Apple 250 which is about 8/06.
    Which one would you choose for your main drive?
    Thanks a bunch!

    Everybodys milage seems to vary with Hard drives as does the current quality of certain manufactures. Personally I've been burned numerous times on Seagate drives but that could simply be my luck of the draw. What is really more important is how you use specific drives vs their reliability.
    I have a RAID 5 Linux server in my rack for my major archiving. That server has been built with Raptor OS drives (Small ones, 36Gb) as all it has is FC5. The RAID array is built from much cheaper (per Gb) 500Gb WD Caviar drives. In my configuration this comes to about 1.25Tb of RAID 5 storage. I can sustain a full drive failure without losing my data. I can also lose my OS drive, buy an new one, Install Fedora 5 again, and my RAID will still be there. (I've backed up the critical files necessary to support this and I've tested it. It works.)
    My MacPro is just about to be rebuilt. I got a Hitachi Ultrastar from Newegg.com
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145164
    I have 4x500Gb WD drives in my Pro configured to be a RAID 1 from 2 1Tb logical volumes. I plan on using this for quick local archive of projects as yanking a 50Gb project from there is still much faster than off my RAID 5 plus my RAID 5 is quickly getting filled from my photography work so I'm using the RAID 1 for my video work. In addition to that, I have a Firewire 800 1TB external drive to run on TimeMachine and back up all my working files on my new OS drive. If I sound paranoid. I am. Just remember no matter WHO's drive you buy, it is, in the end, not a question of IF it might fail, but WHEN. You should plan your work environment expecting your drives will fail and then make sure you have enough backup that you can recover from that. One could argue there may be holes even in my backup plan. There are, but in the end, I can recover everything, baring my home burning down. (and actually I'm covered for that, all be it the latency in the backup is probably on a 2 week cycle).

  • Is there a way to Change the Function keys on a bluetooth keyboard for ipad

    I just got kensington wireless keyboard for my ipad 2 but the program that i am using dosent allow me to use the function keys instead for volume, brightness ect.

    I have had to explain often that no pressure is needed. It's a "touch" screen, not a "press" screen. Most people believe they have to push down hard to make some sort of contact.

  • Request for an arrow key app for ipad

    I am trying to use ipad pages to type up some ideas on the road.
    I am really missing arrow keys on the keyboard.
    I find apple's loupe solution awkward, incumbent and inherently un-apple-like.
    Is it all possible that one of you smart developers could develop an app that would add arrow keys to the ipad keyboard?
    You could make millions...
    Thanks.
    Toby

    Probably the primary reason that you don't see something like this is because Apple prevents developers from customizing the keyboard.  I found this thread because I am an iPhone/iPad developer and I'm looking for information on how to customize the keyboard for a data entry app that I'm working on.  From my research, it sounds like there are hacked ways to customize the keyboard to some degree, but it is not easily supported for developers, and they can reject your app for a customized keyboard.  Apple is very stubborn about their user interface choices, and it sometimes results in a poor user experience with some of their software.

  • Using iPhone as external Keyboard for iPad?

    I'm not a developer- but if I was this would be the Ap I would develop.
    Folks are already used to using their iPhone keyboard.
    Hit me back if anyone has this.

    Not sure why you'd rather use your tiny iPhone keyboard over the nice big one on the ipad but there are at least a couple of iPhone apps that let it be the wireless keyboard for a Mac or Windows machine (over wifi). They probably won't work with the iPad, but I don't know. They all seem to cost something, so it wouldn't be free to find out.

A controller is automatically supplied on iPhone or iPod touch once playback in initiated, but for iPad you must either set the controls attribute or provide a controller using JavaScript.

  • How would you implement a "real" on key released event?

    Hello there.
    I'm looking into key bindings and I'm trying to implement a "keep doing as long as space is pressed" feature. Figuratively speaking the optimal solution would be:
    space key is pressed -> call something.start()
    space key is released -> call something.stop()
    The thing is, the space key can be held down for several seconds and that does not generate one clear pressed and one clear released event. Instead you get a whole series of pressed and released events during the whole time the key is being pressed down. Actually it's logical. Click on some input field on your screen and keep a key pressed, you will see what I mean. :)
    So if I try to use:
    getInputMap().put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("pressed SPACE"), "start");...and...
    getInputMap().put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("released SPACE"), "stop");I don't get what I want. Start and stop are being called like crazy.
    So now, what would be the best way to react only to the first pressed and the last released event? Discarding events that follow each other too fast doesn't seem like an elegant solution.
    Thanks
    Cap

    Instead of timers I chose the following IMHO simpler and more reliable solution:
    public class Button
         private boolean on;
         public Button()
              on = false;
              // React to the SPACE key.
              getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW).put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("pressed SPACE"), "do");
              getActionMap().put("do", this);
         /* The problem we have to deal with is that a key being held down for several seconds
          * actually fires a whole havoc of pressed and released events. On Windows it fires
          * only a havoc of pressed events and then one released event when the button is
          * finally released. To make the button work right at least on Windows we keep track
          * of the state of the button (on = pressed, off = released). As soon as the button
          * is pressed, it doesn't react to pressed events anymore, this way the pressed havoc
          * can be ignored. It still reacts to released events though, so when the key is
          * finally released, the button goes into the off state again. On Linux this will never
          * work, because not only the pressed havoc, but also the released havoc is fired. */
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent arg0)
              if (on)
                   // The button is on, let's turn it off.
                   getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW).put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("pressed SPACE"), "do");
                   getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW).put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("released SPACE"), "none");
                   on = false;
                   // TRIGGER SOME ACTION HERE
                   dont();
              else
                   // The button is off, let's turn it on.
                   getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW).put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("pressed SPACE"), "none");
                   getInputMap(JComponent.WHEN_IN_FOCUSED_WINDOW).put(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke("released SPACE"), "do");
                   on = true;
                   // TRIGGER SOME ACTION HERE
                   do();
    }Things would be much easier, if it was possible to differentiate, if the Action was triggerd by a "pressed" or a "released" event. I don't see a way to get this information from the ActionEvent object. If someone knows a way, please do tell.

  • What would you prefer - SAP ERP or S/4 HANA?

    Hello,
    After the impressive keynote speech of the recent TechEd, it made wonder about how the customers of SAP would leverage the new S/4 HANA, if at all and it instigated a thought process.
    Possibilities:
    A. Keep our good old SAP ERP - Through the years, a company has been employing SAP ERP, with all its configurations done, customizing in place, trained talent pool, interfaces defined and up and running solutions. Migrating to a whole new solution would mean a lot of overhead of replacing all of that as well as increase TCO.
    B. Switch to the amazing S/4 HANA - Simply means leveraging all the benefits S/4 HANA has to offer with lightening speed at comparatively low investment considering the returns. With the ease of development as well as configuration offered, the required workforce might reduce considerably, thus, lowering support costs. This would be like one time investment with long term returns.
    Note: All of the above are my views to the best of my knowledge and everyone is entitled to their opinion, agreements or disagreement to the above. Let us just discuss about what everyone thinks about this, pros and cons about what SAP has to offer and propagate optimum utilization of innovation for years to come.
    So what do you guys think?

    Hi,
                Thanks for sharing,that's good suggestion you give thanks for all of that kind suggestion!!!

  • External keyboard for iPad 4 with colored keys for child with autism

    ...and any suggestions of very easy apps/programs for learning to type.  Most apps we find don't start easily enough or progress too quicky for fine motor challenges.

    No, if an app has it's own version of the keyboard then that version will only be available in that app - I havn't seen any Apple built-in keyboards where all keys are visible all of the time, probably because that would make the keyboard too big and/or the keys too small. • Would you recommend 11g certifications or 12c certifications for the future?

    good afternoon community,
    recently i decided to complete a certification path in  oracle 11g. however, seeing how 12c is spreading and selling, do you think it will manage to take over 11g anytime soon? now i know that major companies and others ranging from medium to large still do not feel secure using the cloud or prefer 11g as a personal choice. but can all of this change within the next 2-3 years ? and would it be hard to adapt to 12c as an expert if i got all my certification and experience on 11g ?
    would appreciate any expert info regarding this!
    With best regards,
    Nader H.

    I do not believe that anyone has accurate numbers on 12c installs when compared to all other Oracle release.  If I were to speculate, I'd imagine they are currently high single-digits (6-9%). In three years, 12c installs may overtake 11g installs.
    Oracle 12c is based on Oracle 11g... which was based on 10g which was based on...
    90% or more of the RDBMS functionality that 12c provides existed in 11g. Learn 11g well and using 12c is simply a matter of learning the new features of 12c. I wrote a blog post about 11g vs 12c certification some time back.  It was before 12c was released to production, but many of the points are still valid.
