Wouldn't it be nice if the "newsstand" app could be moved into a grouping?

I think it would be nice if the Newsstand app could be moved into a grouping. I do not use this app and it's just in the way.

try double clicking the home button and swiping the app up and off the screen. if that dosn't work thne you may want to try turning it off and on again.

I want to see the basic Newsstand App to store newspapers etc. i cannot find or see this App.

Yeah, weird.... I just tried to search Newsstand, and nothing showed up on the search, even though I have the Newsstand icon on my screen. Just to make sure - the icon looks exactly like an iBooks empty library shelf....any chance you missed it?
It doesn't show up under the apps in Settings either, nor does it show up on the apps list on iTunes, but should be on one of the home screen pages.....
Hope you are able to find it. But if not, I would suggest calling Apple Support or taking it into the nearest Apple Store to see if they can figure out where it is hiding...

What would be really nice for the Note app if they would put a star, flag or some other icon on the homescreen note app to remind you that you made a note.

It would be nice if the Apple Notes app would put a red star, flag or other icon on the Note Pad on the homescreen to remind you that you made a note. Whats the point of making a note if you cant see you left yourself a note. On the iPad as well as the ipod.

The Newsstand app's Info.plist must contain UINewsstandApp.error.message=true and a CFBundleIcons.UINewsstandIcon dictionary.

Receiving this error when trying to submit a new app through iTunes connect.
I notice a response to a similar problem from Neil: Don't indicate that your app supports Newsstand when you are in iTunes Connect unless you are a pro or enterprise DPS customer and have selected Newsstand support in App Builder.
Problem is, we are enterprise DPS customers and Newsstand support is selected in App builder.
I suspect it might be that the App type I initially selected was 'Multi Folio' as opposed to 'Multi Folio with iTunes subscription' (to allow for Newsstand).
If this is the likely cause, is there a way to adjust the App type (greyed out at present) or will I need to re-build?

To follow up, quick re-build, changing the App type did the trick.

Weird: Backup file works fine from the network but not when moved into sandbox environment

We have a valid full backup of a database. We know it is valid, we have restored it twice from the network with no problems, but we do not have access to the network location from our sandbox environment.
The .bak file is sizable at about 9GB. The .bak file resides on our internal network, in a SAN drive. No problems there. When we copy the file from there into a sandbox environment to attempt the restore in the sandbox environment it gets corrupted. We've
tried three different times and all three different times it gets corrupted. First time we copied the file over to the sandbox the restore went up to 50% and failed. The second time we copied the file again and attempted the restore again it failed at 70%.
The third time it failed at 60%. The error message we get during the restore is "...Read on ... failed: 13(The data is invalid) Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Restore database is terminating abnormally."
Now some background here. To move the file our network team is doing this: they have this .vmdk file that they mount out in our production environment (which has access to the network location where the .bak file is), copy the file into the drive, then move
the .vmdk file into the sandbox environment(which does not have access to the network location), mount the drive in the sandbox environment, and then I have access to the .bak file from within the sandbox environment.
Something in the process of using the .vmdk file to move the .bak file from production into the sandbox is causing the file to get corrupted.
Any thoughts? Has anyone seen this before? Any idea? TIA,

TS3320 My Ipad 2 suddenly have been giving me the "could not open" mas when I tap my safari icon, what should I do now? I recently added the Skype app, could that be the reason?

Should I be clearing my history and cookies? My I pad just started giving me the "could not open page" message and I am not sure why. Not very computer literate.

Do a FACTORY RESTORE...not from your back...
Make sure you DON'T allow iTunes to back-up your Ipad before this as it will Replace your back up with the funcky New app arrangement and soo on..
Now after the Factory restore, restart iTunes and do a restore from the Back-p. AGAIN don't let iTunes do a back-up prior to this...

I don't think so. Once an app is removed and then restored it usually isn't restored to the same position/folder it was originally.

Cannot download app into the iPhone but the same app can be downloaded into iPad

I have downloaded google search app into my iPad but i cannot download to my iphone. At the AppStore I can see google search app but it does not allow me to download it, i.e the download icon is grey.
Have removed the app from iTune library.

Try rebooting the phone:

Hold down the Sleep (On-Off) and Home buttons together for about 10-15 seconds or until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears - then let go of the buttons. The iPad should begin to start up.
If that doesn't work then Restore it: Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings.

Control panel does not show the home page when Newsstand app is open - could this be a bug?

When Newsstand is open and I press the home button twice to access the control panel, the home screen is replaced by the Newsstand app. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix?

To access the control panel, press the home button once to get to the home screen. Then swipe up from down near the home button to view the control panel.
Pressing the home button twice generally shows you the apps that are running.

How do I delete the "newstand" app?

I downloaded the new 5.0 software and now there is a "newstand" app on my i-touch. I do not want this app but the i-touch is not letting me delete it or put it into an app group. I will never use this, I do not want it visible on any of my screens, How do I remove it??????
I absolutely detest software that does not allow me to delete crap I do not use.

In the mean time if you want Newsstand out of the way either put it on the last page or put it in a folder. To do this, make a folder with two other apps and when the iPod is forming the folder straight away select the Newsstand app and drop it in. You may need a few trys however it does work. And it doesnt show that you picked up the Newsstand app. Also please note that this is unsupported and it will crash the iPod if you open Newsstand and from the sounds of it you wouldnt be opening up newsstand.

Can I create content in iBook Author and push it to my Newsstand App?

Good afternoon!
I am totally new at iOS developement and I am exploring the possibilities of the Newsstand app.
I started building an app following a tutorial and up to now the basic code is working.
What I am trying to do right now is see if I can create a magazine edition in iBook Author and push it as my new issue.
So far, I got nothing but a blank issue.
Is it something possible or do I have to build my own type of asset reader?

Newsstand App on iPad Air

I downloaded The New Yorker App from the App Store. It has been put in (or might already have been there waiting to be activated?) the Newsstand App. The problem is that I can't close down the Newsstand App, other than to switch off my iPad (Air). Gestures don't work when I try to close the Newsstand window. When I double-click the Home button to summon open apps, in order to swipe up and close them, it works for all but Newsstand App.
I have iOS 8.0.2 installed.
Any ideas as to how I might be able to close newsstand?

Don't try to use the double tap/swipe up method. If you have the Newsstand open, simply tap the home button to go back to a home screen. Newwstand is not an app, it is a special folder that holds newspapers, magazines, etc. you cannot close it like an app. The New Yorker app will close like a conventional app if it still remains on the multitasking screen when you double tap the home button.

All my apps are missing tried deleting cydia on iPhone 4 5.1.1 deleted a file now no app no nothing phone won't ring just a newsstand app

No apps showing just the newsstand app tried deleting cydia went to mange and deleted everything on my iphone won't recognize USB Cable to charge or CPU

Contact the Cydia folks or wherever you downloaded that hacking garbage from for help with this.
