You never know when you might need to buy something that's $801 Your Discover should give you a TU score every month. But that's just a snapshot of one CRA. Congrats on the approvals!

  • I am a  recent Apple convert and feel like I have been ripped off

I purchased a 13inch MacBook since I was getting a little bit tired of having to constantly reboot my PC. Bought a 13 inch MacBook in Nov 2008. Since this was my first Mac and did not have any other accessories/sofware etc from the pc world, I invested in buying all the accessories - duplicate power cords, apple care, more memory etc... all original ones from Apple (read expensive). I did not mind it since I was thinking that I will be using the MacBook for a long time. I recently found that my battery was not holding the charge and so I scheduled an appointment at the Genius bar at a local Apple store. I was told by my die hard Apple fans that enter all the details in and since you have Apple care, they will have a new battery waiting for you. I arrive at the designated time and (the person who was helping me had not even bothered to find out why I was there for - ok, granted he must have been busy). He sticks a usb drive and runs some program which tells him that the battery needs to be replaced. He then continues to tell me that the battery needs to be replaced and that I have an option to buy it at the store. I obviously asked him why I needed to buy when Applecare should have covered it. He rattled off some technical balther and finally it amounted to that the program he was running said that my battery had failed and Apple considers anything over 300 recharge cycles as having 'failed'. How in the world a common user like myself supposed to know this? When I challenged him to show where in Applecare this was stated...he pretended to look on the web and turned to a colleague of his for support and all they ended up doing was point me to the description for battery coverage for batteries under Applecare, which is quite vague. Here is my question - I have taken good care of my Macbook. I have seldom used it solely running on battery. I have always had the Macbook plugged in. Is'nt this unusual for my battery to fail this early and not being covered by Applecare?
I would have gladly purchased, had I known in advance what constituted failure- ie over 300 cycles etc..(though I would have questioned that this could be attributed to some manufacturing defect for it to fail so early). Why does not Apple state it as such as a part of the warranty description? This in my mind is a rip off.
I was planning a trip and did not want to be left without a battery so I was forced to buy one at $129. The gentlemen at the genius bar spoke to his manager and cut a deal for half the price. The whole incident has left a very sour taste for Apple's products and service - not sure if there are other similar surprises lurking in fine print in Applecare land.

In the future, ask about that stuff here first. Mac accessories (such as memory) are often different, but they shouldn't be any more money than the PC versions.

It is not that automatic, but not far from it either.

It sounds like you just had a loser. Complain about them and go to a different store. If you don't have another store handy, talk to the manager.

A spare battery is a good thing to have.

Just avoid that store in the future. Most places are much better than that.
The real question here, the one that the "genius" didn't ask, is why you have a cycle count > 300. I have a 2006 Macbook, a 2007 Macbook, and one spare battery I bought sometime in 2006. The two batteries I have installed have cycle counts of 245 and 222, respectively. How can your 2008 Macbook have cycle count greater than 300? You should keep an eye on that.

  • I have been editing my films and spent hours fixing the audio levels. Everytime I close and re-open final cut audio levels go back down.

I have been busy editing my film and for the third time now, i have been correcting my audio levels with each clip  - this takes me hours - and everytime I go back to the project, the audio levels fall back down. So everything i did previously was a waste of time.
Does anyone have the same issue? Is there anything I am doing wrong here?

Gosh, that sounds aweful close to the same problem people are experiencing with the undo bug. They don't know their having a problme until they hit Command+Z to undo their last change, and they can't, the undo command is actually grayed out in the menu. I understand if this happens, X is not auto saving your changes either. So, the next time you make all of your changes, check to see if your undo command is grayed out from the menu. If it is, duplicate your project to force a manual save. Then Quit X and reopen it and insure you project is intact.

I need to talk to someone about changing all of my accounts. A iCloud account was opened not by me and I lost 17 years of contacts. I have slowly gotten them back. My files from my Mac Book were taken and are gone. It has cost me about 60,000 dollars in business since November which has effected my staff as well. Many personal ireplacable memories of my childrens Photos were taken, Business, designs and accounting and personalFiles you name it gone or corrupted. My main PC including 4 external hard drives, then the Mac Book, My Iphones, itouch. Ipad were next and then my Mac Book pro. This is very humbling and heart felt. those who work with me have very strong beliefs, it was an internal doing or I should say someone gained or was allowed access to my home and equipment. I travel and tour and am gone quite a bit. This was and is the most difficult thing that has happened to me in a long time. In truth business and work will and can be rectified that not the point. It's how and what has been done which is the most damaging very personal almost vidictive but I will stop there. I feel so violated and saddened at the same time. I am hoping to contact someone through Apple or even an outside source to see if my files can be recouped and how to go about doing these changes all at once without all of the emails back and forth to approve changes in accounts what a pain. I want to change all accounts associated with apple. Apple ID and Pass words, I tunes ID and Pass word you name it.When I leave for work now days I have to take all of my equipment or lock things in the safe. I have an alarm system that is very good in additons to, animals still with the animals inside the motion detectors are off and in reality the damage has been done . I now this sounds crazy but I have proof of my back up files not all of them plus you can see in my documents all of my business accounts which are in orderof complition and dates are empty. My email accounts were also hacked and thru that individuals were able to change at will. When you have over 20 years of an association and relationships they know everything about someone. I do not want to press charges but I am to that point I need to bring in someone to investigate and I really do not know whom to even call. I have won awards for my work and my designs and information being taken has hurt more than words can express. I am currently out of town doing this late at night. I have changed my banking you name it. I need to have access to my computers to work but the stress of these constant changes and invasion of privacy are beyond expression. I plug in any of my usb drives and they are empty or my computers do not recognize them. I plug in my usb connector from my HP 8100  Printer with Blue tooth capabilities and it pops up and an external E drive for downloading just like an external drive. My printer acepts every imaginable portable disk on the market . Many of my usb drives are gone or have been corrupted. I have this darn air drop that goes on all the time. My computers I turn off and then they are on when I get up. I can go on and on. I live in the bay area and I am asking for help in trying to stop all of this. I will call Apple next but I wanted to put it out on this forum with the hopes of some response or input. I have all of my new and very minimal recovered information now on a web-based server which I know is safe the pass words and set up were done very discreetly (one can only hope). I apologize in advance for laying this out there like this. I am just so frustrated and because of the POSSIBLE implications makes it even harder In which I truly want to be proven wrong. I have never written or thought that I would be doing this as it is. If anything I hope some good comes out of this for someone. Bluetooth is a powerful tool this much I know now. Wow this is just simply amazing. There are 14 products I have purchased. I have been a windows person for years because of my work somethings are prapriatary to that OS but I love the Apple products. I am despratley trying not to nor will I throw in the towel. I know its a great product and its not the product. I just want to have the best opotunity to recover and have control over my designs and pretty much my privacy and peace of mind not too much to ask..:-) Oh! do not get me wrong I am willing to pay for services thats not the issue here. Once again thank you for at least espressing my frustrations.

  • Cannot start widget - Ensure that SAP Business One Integration Service and SAP Business One Event Sender Service have been started

    Dear Experts .
I'm trying to enable widget for my company db but getting the following error :
Ensure that SAP Business One Integration Service and SAP Business One Event Sender Service have been started; then wait 1 minute and try again
I can connect to the B1iF locally and remotely .
I have the db configured in the SLD and connects successfully .
I have the event sender service and proxy started and configured for the company db.
I can access the Dashboard web portal and login with database sap credentials (but I see nothing there)
I've checked that there are no duplicate entries in the SSLD table for SBO common (note : 1619422)
I've also tried to re-activate the xelcious from the B1iF->control.
    My Setup :
I'm runing SBO server, B1iF installed locally and B1iSN installed on a 3rd party server.
I'm using B1iF as even forwarder for B1iSN.
I know this has been discussed many times through out the forum and I've tried most of the stuff other than clean install.
I would appreciate any input before removing B1iF completely and re-installing.
    Thanks in advance ,
    Nadav.

  • Check which data records have been updated or created by the business rule.

    Dear all,
Is there any way to check which data records have been updated or created by the business rule?
       For ex:
When I run a data package which execute some standard store procedure and the log shows :
    Executing SPRUNCONVERSION  'LEGALAPP', [ACTUAL], [GGGG],'GLOBAL','SPSCOPE_42412','SPLOG_125272'
    SPRunConversion Version 2.06
    20071200 - 210 Rows Calulated
    20071200 - 84 Rows Updated
Anyway to see the data content of "84 Rows Updated "?
    Best Regards,
    Jeff

Yes each aplication has 3 fact tables:
FACTWB:Real time storage, when you send data it is stored here and this is linked to the FACTWB partition in OLAP which is a ROLAP partition to enable real time updates of the data.
FAC2: Short term storage. If too many records are in the FACTWB the aplication becomes slow because these records need to be queried by the OLAP engine everytime new records are send to the database. To clean up te real time storage you can do a lite optimize, which will move the FACTWB records to the FAC2 partition. this lite optimize can be done even when users are in the system.
FACT: this is the long term storage. When your reporting is finished you can run a full optimize to clean up both FACTWB and FAC2 tables and store it in the FACT table. This contains all your historical records.
Evertime you run a reort, SAP BPC is looking at all 3 partitions and combines the data of the 3 partitions to present the correct value in your report. Remember that BPC is posting differences in the WB and not the final values. So if you have for example a record with 10 in the FAC2 partition and you send 12 to the database for that intersection, BPC will post only 2. When running a report it combines the 10 and the 2 which makes 12.
Hope this makes it more clear.

  • Have been using your products since 1984. Very sorry I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Time consuming AND wiped out 2007 Quicken. I guess it would have been too much trouble to have red flagged this situation ahead of time. Out of business, literally.

Have been using your products since 1984. Very sorry I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Wiped out all my old applications. Out of business until I get this fixxed. Can I go back to previous operating system? Time Machine?

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.
    In the future:
    Before upgrading consider:
Don't upgrade if you are in the midst of important work. Wait until you have finished.
If you are having problems with your computer get them sorted out before you upgrade.
Verify that any mission critical software will be compatible with the upgrade.

It is possible that there could be damage to the SIM that the 6085 can't get past but another phone can, does any SIM work in this phone? If the phone is faulty, then with a basic model like this the most you can do is restore factory settings, which I suspect will not help in this case. You may have to get the phone repaired by a service centre?
The only company with the legal authority to changed the lock status of a SIM-locked phone is the network to which it is locked. If the phone was factory-locked, then if the network has lost the code they can apply for it from the manufacturer (only the network can do this, manufacturers will never give unlocking information to the public). If Vodafone have given you incorrect codes or instructions how to enter them, and you have made several attempts, then the phone SIM-lock status could itself be locked as they only allow so many attempts in case of theft.
Vodafone are the only people who can legitimately assist you with unlocking your phone.

  • I have been using firefox, then all of a sudden it will not connect says site is busy. I did an update but still will not connect with site

I have been using firefox for a while, then it would not connect, I have change nothing on my computer. I double checked the firewall and browsers .
I downloaded another exe and it still will not go to the page.
    What can I do

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Why is it that over 60 Complaints have been made to verizon about the razr screen cracking, and there is still no known issue ? Any answers Verizon?

I have taken the privilege of reposting several comments about the droid Razrs MANUFACTURE DEFECT!!!!!! I have highlighted what I felt where key points in each statement. I hope and entice any one with a similar problem to post your story so Verizon will see this is a "KNOWN PROBLEM"... My questions to Verizon are, when does it become a known problem? What does the consumer have to do to convince you, that we are not all liars.. and Is it impossible to think the producer can make a mistake?

I have had my phone less then a month and now there is a crack running vertically between two points of contact, starting at the exact point where my thumb grips on the left side across to the point where my pinky grips on the right side. I made a phone call last night, set my phone down and out of nowhere a crack appeared on the phone. I have been researching the problem and found out it is much more common than not. Verizon will not do any thing to help and I am not willing spend $100 on an insurance claim for what I believe to be a manufacture defect. They need to take ownership! This is a Known problem!
I am currently fighting to prove my phone had a manufacture defect. I am sending it in to motorola accompanied by my own testimony also with links and statements of other people I found online with the similar problem. I have also contacted Corning asking them if their is any truth behind the articles I read, stating that due to the cutting process of the glass it automatically has microscopic fractures on the edges which are prone to crack with pressure on the sides. (Which ultimately would be a manufacture issue!) They should respond within 24 hrs. They will either tell me yes there is truth, They cannot comment, or they might not respond. But I thought it was worth a try, especially to have certified documentation when confronting Motorola who claims to have never heard of this problem… As they tried to tell me today! This is a very frustrating situation and I am tired of Verizon and Motorola always passing the blame onto the consumer. One of Motorola’s sales pitches “THIN NO LONGER MEANS FRAGILE” if thats the case back it up!

I had some happy news about 3 weeks ago, when I finally gave up on my Droid X and got a Droid Razr Maxx.  I love the phone and the battery life.  It actually lasted all day which is awesome considering how much juice smartphones need to stay smart. I sent the old X into the Best Buy shop to be discombobulated and returned. I had my new Razr Maxx for about 2 weeks when the unthinkable happened.  A mysterious screen breakage.
I don’t believe most people when it seems obvious they are lying, but after having this happen to me, I now believe most people when they say they don’t know how their smart phone screen broke.  These things must be fragile, so it is user beware regarding breaking the Razr Maxx screens.  My story is as follows:
Checked the phone for messages/emails before leaving for work.  Chilly morning.  Go to work.  Get out of vehicle.  Phone rings while walking to work, and when I get it out it the screen is smashed and broken.  I sent it to Motorola and they won’t cover it.  They sent it back.  It’s a shame the Gorilla Glass more resembles candy glass.  I thought I was going to have a long lasting affair with the Razr Maxx and then this happened.  If you have had something similar happen, please leave a comment here and hopefully we can prove a trend of the screens failing without abnormal wear and tear.
Lucky for me I have the insurance again on this phone and my Droid X is back and functioning properly while I deal with this new ***.  Anyone that gets a smart phone without the insurance is a fool.  These things can’t even last through being removed from a pocket.
If you try to send it in to get fixed, please reference this post so they know that this isn’t an isolated incident.
PS – the comments problem is now fixed, so fire away.

I just had a similar situation happen to me!! I have had the Razor Maxx no more then three days…when I noticed this afternoon my screen was cracked!! Not only is the screen cracked, it’s cracked in four areas!! Now, I’m a person who takes extra special care of my phone not to drop it or be rough with it & I get all necessary protective accessories with my smart phone investment. My phone is so new, I am still waiting for the protective accessories to come in the mail!! All I know is my phone was in my car in a GPS holder, I drop off some of my clothes to the dry cleaners & low & behold while driving back I notice my screen is cracked in multiple areas!! Iwent to Verizon to argue my case that I didn’t do anything abnormal to cause the screen to be cracked. They said their was nothing they could do!! I was planning to call Motorola tomorrow, but after reading this post that may be futile. I just can’t believe that this “Kevlar Gorilla Glass” cracked like peanut brittle!! Of course I have insurance on this phone & I can file an insurance claim & get another phone, but I believe I shouldn’t have to pay for something that I didn’t cause!! I really think their has to be some sort of defect with the glass for this phone…

Our only hope is that everyone with this problem leaves a message here and we can take it to Motorola as proof that their phone is defective and it isn’t abuse that caused the screens to crack.
Sending the phone back to Motorola will just cause you to be without it for over a week.

I just switched from X2 to Droid Razr yesterday. Today was my first day carrying it. Had it in my back pocket while walking on the production floor. Apparently bending down was too much flex for it. Didn’t notice it until just now. So mine lasted approximately 3 hours before breaking. Sucks since I really like the Razr. I don’t want to go back to 3G, but at least my X2 was robust.

    @ Andrew
That really stinks man. Hope you have the insurance. And really, if a phone can’t handle being in a pocket what good is it? I do really like the phone, but hate it’s brittle nature and can’t recommend it unless they fix that aspect of it and take care of customers that are getting hosed like us.

Just received a droid Maxx yesterday and one large crack from top right down the entire screen to the bottom in less than 24 hours. It is my sons. Not exactly sure what happened but he said it wasn’t dropped or anything. He had the original droid for over 2 years w/o any issues. All my other 5 droids never had trouble, droid 1, droid 2 global and droid 3′s.

I’m getting one person a day leaving comments about similar situations here. But of course, it couldn’t be Motorola that is wrong here, it has to be the lying customer base abusing their faultless equipment.

I had my Maxx for barely a month, most of which was it still in its box as i hadn’t transitioned over to it. I’m not sure if the “Cracks” in my phone are the same as all of you sound like its a visible crack. Mine i noticed is when the phone has light coming through from the back (such as when the flashlight app is on) i see a cluster of cracks in the top left corner and then additional cracks/marks throughout the screen. I went to verizon and they tried to tell me that its the type of screen that it is and the they had seen it before….which is crap since there is no logic to that and my brother has a maxx as well without this issue…sounds more like bad manufacturing.

Update on my phone – turns out it is the actual video screen that is cracked, not the gorilla glass. So you can’t feel any of the cracks, but the screen still doesn’t work. The phone is still functioning, but there is no way to interface with it. Since mine is purchased through my corporate account, it may be replaced at no cost. However, if so, I imagine that will not be the norm.

I have had my Maxx for exactly two months to the day when I was sitting eating lunch when my phone fell off of my lap onto the floor. I pick it up to find a hair line crack on my screen which no longer functions. (I had a screen protector and a phone case on my phone while this had occurred) Luckily I had insurance. I have called Motorolla and got nowhere and the best reccomendation that Verizon could give me was to call Asurion. My previous phone was a Motorolla Devour which is ancient. I’ve had it for roughly 4 years and dropped countless times. I don’t understand how the screen on a 4+ year old phone is alot tougher/better than the supposed “upgraded” glass screen.

Ok. Add me to the list. Got the Razr Maxx for my son and the screen lasted 4 DAYS! Now it has a nice crack across the middle. No abuse. I know for certain he does baby his phone and really loved this one. Now he’s heart-broken. Whole family has various Motorola Droids. None have had any problems. 4 days? Didn’t get the insurance since never really needed it before. To say I’m angry is an understatement.13.

I too am having the same problem. I have had my new droid razor maxx for only 13 days. I woke up this morning, turned my phone on and saw multiple cracks all over the glass screen. I did not drop it, sit on it or hit it on anything. I went to Verizon wherein they told me I must have done something to cause the cracking of the phone and that all I could do is file an insurance claim (which I have) and pay MORE money on top of the $300 already paid for another replacement phone. I would be more than happy to do that if it was in fact MY fault but it wasn’t. I take care of my personal items and seeing that it isn’t even 2 weeks old I do not feel it is right to make me shell out even more money for an obvious manufacturer’s defect. I have contacted Motorola about their gorilla glass and can only hope that they will rectify this issue. I have been a loyal customer of Verizon and find it very disheartening that they would not fix or replace the phone at no cost to me. I had the original droid for over 2 years with absolutely no problems. Clearly, there is a problem with the manufacture of this phone if so many of us are finding ourselves on this website writing about the same issue.

Ive had the razr maxx for six weeks. While using the phone, i ended a call. Pressed the homepage button and the glass shattered in my hand . The phone has never been dropped, impacted by anything or otherwise misused or handled roughly or improperly. Ive taken the phone to 3 different Verizon stores and got the same replies that ive aeen written here. I also contacted Motorola and got a very unwelcome runaround. I sent them an email today demanding contact information for the president of Motorola. I have insurance and have filed a claim only to be told by Asurion they have no razr maxx’s in stock and i will have to wait. This has been a circus! I have insurance in case of accidental damage. This was not accidental damge, its a manufacturer defect in the glass. I was treated so poorly by Verizon and Motorola that i will now not let this go. Why should i have to pay an insurance deductible six weeks after i bought an already expensive phone because of a manufacturer flaw? When i get my new phone i will be happy to send this phone to someone who can forensically identify what ive told motorola and verizon. The glass shattered through NORMAL use.

Same story. I baby my Maxx and have never dropped it. I was driving and set my phone on the passenger seat (it did not move). I get home, put it in my pocket and go inside. Take it out a few minutes later and the LCD screen had cracked (not the glass) near the SIM card slot. Only thing I can think of is I put some pressure on it when I put it in my pocket but nothing more than what I’d consider normal. If you didn’t get the insurance Verizon just did open enrollment on their website for anyone who still wants it. I don’t know if it ended yet.

Called Motorola got nothing accomplished they really don’t care about their customers. And Asurion has been trying to get me to down grade it seems like to me this phone was put on a pedelstal for its greatness when it was cheaply made not great screen wise. Never had this problem before with any my other droids smartphones. I am highly disappointed, and very angry. I really hope the problem with this phone reach the right source to escalate it so that something can be done about it.

I had the same thing happen to me. I have the original Droid Razr. I have had it for a little over 3 months. It was sitting on my kitchen counter when I noticed a crack in it. It has NEVER been dropped. There is a small parabolic crack right over the SD/SIM card door that can be felt, and another from the top edge of the SD/SIM card door across the face that cannot be felt. Everything still works though. It seems to me that the SD card door is the weakest part of the frame and the phone probably flexed there slightly cracking the glass. I guess gorilla glass and kevlar don’t mean a thing. I otherwise love the phone but if it can’t stand up to VERY gentle handling I don’t know what to do. I do know that my next phone will NOT be a Motorola/Google debacle. I am all about open source and the Android OS but the OS doesn’t really matter if the hardware can’t stand up to LIGHT everyday use. It is a shame when my last phone, yes up until a few months ago, was the original Razr flip phone. That thing was awesome. I have carried an Apple iPod around without a case for two years and it has not a single scratch on it. Guess my next phone will be an Apple iPhone 5 LTE or whatever name they decide to give it.

I have had my Razr MAXX for almost two months now. I put Pandora on jumped in the shower, got out of the shower to discover my screen was cracked from the inside. Phone is now completly useless. I also called Verizon who claims they have NEVER heard of this issue…Even though it happenend to my brother in laws phone the day before. He was within his 14 day window so his was replaced. I now have to go through insurance claim..kicker line is they want me to take a down grade as well…they say they dont have a phone to replace it with. Why do i pay insurance then? Dealing with Motorola as well, but they are acting the same way as Verizon. I was upset to pay my deductable after all the money I already paid, but my thing is, are we gonna have to pay 99.00$ every two months?
I seen on another blog that whats happening is the phone gets hot from NORMAL useage…due to the size of the Razr and MAXX the battery swells and creates pressure causing the screen to …yup you guessed it CRACK…so irritating.

Dropped my RAZR MAXX last night at home. It hit my soft shoe and the carpet. When I picked up the internal screen was cracked/smashed in multiple places. In the first week or two I had it, I had actually dropped it in a parking lot. A little nick on the corner, but fine. When I drop it on something soft, the screen shatters. The external gorilla glass is fine, but internally it looks like somebody beat it on a rock. Definitely an issue.

Verizon says can’t replace and have to pay insurance deductible because it’s damage not a defective product. Motorola says 5-7 business days after they send a label (up to a few weeks without a phone??) to determine IF it was defective or damaged. Then defective phones are repaired–”we don’t exchange products” What a racket!

I had my new Razr for eight days when I noticed a crack in the screen. The crack goes all the way thru the glass to the bottom of the phone. I did not drop the phone or do anything that would damage it. I was taking extra special care with my new phone. I contacted customer service via email. They told me to get insurance and then file a claim. I did that and of course the claim was denied because the damage occured before I got the insurance. It is an unethical business practice for Verison Customer Service to have told me to do that. After getting the insurance, filing a claim…it was outside the 14 days I had to return the phone. The first service rep I spoke to should have told me to return the phone right away, instead I was told to file an insurance claim. I have emailed with 4 different service reps from Verizon and they keep suggesting I file a claim even though I have explained that I did file a claim and was denied. I am very disappointed with Verizon’s customer service.

On April 11th, I followed my normal morning routine. I removed the phone from my end table and its charging cable, and placed it in my purse. I then walked from my home, approximately 50 – 75 feet to my car. When I arrived at my car, I placed my purse on the passenger seat, and got into the car. Upon removing the phone from my purse to make a call, I saw that the screen had a small crack in it. The crack begins/ends right at the location of the power button, which must be pressed each time that the phone is to be unlocked/activated for use. I state this simply because it could be considered a ‘stress’ point, and perhaps have some bearing on how the phone may have been damaged. It should also be stated that this same routine had been followed for the previous 7 days since I purchased the phone. The phone was not being subjected to any treatment that would fall outside of what one would consider normal use. This is the same routine I have followed for years, with several other phones, including a BlackBerry Curve and a Sanyo Katana. Each of which I maintained service on for approximately 2 years, to the best of my recollection. I mention each of these phones specifically because unlike most ‘clamshell’ style phones, the Katana has a small exposed screen and the Blackberry has a fully exposed screen. Neither of them have any cracks to their screens, and even the scratches to them are minimal. This Motorola Razr phone is advertized to have ‘Gorilla Glass’ which while not unbreakable, is supposed to withstand quite a bit of stress. One website (I believe Corning or Motorola) indicates that the breaking point is around 121 pounds of pressure. I believe that there was a defect in this single particular piece of equipment (that may or may not be a singular incident) that caused it to break under normal use. It is also my belief that even if there is no current record of a ‘known issue’ with this product, it stands to reason that someone has to be the first to have the problem before it becomes a known issue.

Had this phone since early February. It is the best phone I’ve ever had. It has survived absolutely horrible drops. down stairs, onto solid concrete (multiple times, I work in a warehouse.) It has been stepped on. It has been rammed or bumped into table edges while in my pocket (glass facing out). Not a single time did it crack. I went to band practice last night and it was sitting on my guitar bag. I put it in my pocket to go home, then I pull it from my pocket after I get home and the gorilla glass (NOT THE LCD) is cracked right next to the earpiece. It is shattered and there are cracks leading down the screen.
I called Motorola. They want $160 plus tax, which makes it $177, plus shipping to and from Texas. No doubt going to add it up to $200. That is 2/3rds of what this phone cost me. Called Verizon, no help, they were surprised that the actual gorilla glass shattered. I did tons of research on replacing the screen. Most of the time you need to purchase the digitizer (gorilla glass screen) AND the LCD. If you are really skilled and have nimble fingers and a clean work environment, I have learned you can replace just the digitizer. But it is pathetic that the gorilla glass had a nasty shatter, not crack, but SHATTER and the LCD works fine.
I have called numerous cell phone repair places. And they have given me the estimate of $220-250. This is absolutely ludicrous. I might as well buy a new one. Be this a warning to all people who buy this phone. This phone is amazing, when it works. But please do NOT skip out on the insurance. The most you will have to pay with it is $100. Do not make my mistake. Do not rely or trust the Gorilla glass.
Motorola is so very much designed to scam its customers. Physical damage voids the warranty. Are you kidding me? The most common problem, voids the warranty. And it must always be the customers fault. No, nothing goes wrong in manufacturing. Nothing. I will suck it up and probably use it with the cracked screen until Motorola gives me a better offer or I just cant stand it anymore and just get the f***ing repair. It makes me grit my teeth that Motorola offers the lowest price on screen repair.

My 3-month old Razr screen cracked (never been dropped) when I had the audacity to press the lower left button with right hand while holding in my left. Apparently, the “Gorilla glass” is not designed for the rigors of, you know, using the thing like a phone and pushing buttons. Store basically called me a liar and told me not to bother sending it in, they’d send it back. I plan on a claim (probably arbitration, since they usually make you sign away your right to sue). I’ll see how it goes. This phone felt for three months distinctly like a beta version they rushed to market in time for holiday shopping season.

As a follow up to my prior post, the Verizon agreement says you can either arbitrate or pursue in small claims court. There is a dispute resolution form on verizon’s website you can use to initiate the process. I’ll try to come back and weigh as I navigate the process with thoughts/issues.

As with everyone else, Motorola and Verizon decided there was nothing they could do other than charge me more money. Glad to know that the $$$ I spend on a cell phone account means nothing to them.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

I have been a loyal customer for years and have a hot spot because internet options are very limited in our rural area.  I have stayed with 10G since the beginning.  Most months I don't use the 10G.  Verizon has no problem with me paying for Data I don't use.  This month my daughter comes home from College and she accidentally uses 24G.....14 over get blind sided with $140.00 in overages.  I called Verizon today......stopped in to the store today......My neighbor told me they waved charges for her one time.  Lots of charges.....But I'm am getting no help.  Not even an offer of a payment plan to help me out.  I went back just 6 months and I have over paid for 19G.....Seems like they would like to help out their loyal customers!!!!     Does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with them?   We are not wealthy....or I would just pay this and walk away......

There is a big misconception in what customers believe a cell carrier is obligated to do.
You pay a set price to use up to that amount of xx data. It makes no difference if you use it to the paid limit or way under. Its like peace of mind when you don't have to worry about a data counter.
Your daughter used the data, your plan is quite clear of what overage charges are. Why should or would Verizon wireless just forgive the charges because you are a customer? Your daughter used the data, get the money from her. That is the responsible thing to do.
There is no "I have been a loyal customer so please remove the $120, or $250, or $2,000.00 since I did not mean to use it"
Your electric company, or gas company or any other company does not remove valid charges. Why should Verizon wireless?
Just pay the invoice and don't think you are being mistreated because Verizon is a business and not a charity.
    Good Luck

What a horrible way to treat customers. I was due for updates on my phones and thought I should maybe check some other prices but have been with Verizon for 20 yrs so ended up there. I got 2 new IPhones 5s and the wife couldn’t decide what she wanted so she stayed with old phone but this locked me into a new 2 yr contract . Within a wk one of the new iPhones started turning on and of like 10 –15 times a day. Wk 2 it turned off and would not turn on again . It was my sons who was in college at the time so we talked and he took it in to a Verizon store where he was told I need to come in since the account was in my name. He was away from home , Verizon could see on account it was his phone they said it was not abused, they could not even turn it on , they sold me the phone give him another phone maybe even a loaner till he gets another. So now I need to go to store and explain to 3 different people this is my phone and my son has it and I need a new one. what a waste of time after about 2 hrs and talking to different people and yes they said there were notes on his account from other person he had talked to from different store. So I finally walk out with a receipt in hand and being told I would have a new phone in a couple days. As I sat in my vehicle thinking this is stupid I looked at my receipt and noticed it said droid on it so back into Verizon I went. The salesman said that’s what your son has on his account. My son had activated a friends old phone so he has one since VERIZON REFUSED to give him one. Another hr 3 people and yes they can see he had a new iPhone and notes on it from other store. Sometimes sorry just doesn't do it. I was now late for a appointment . Now I walk out and have been told I will get a new iPhone in the mail in about 2 wk Yes 2 wks   again I bought it there just give me a new one and you send old one back. I will also get a new droid that I have to send back because they said they cant cancel it  . In about 3 days I get the Droid and sent it back Verizon mistake and a waste of my time . After waiting over 2 wks and not receiving a new iPhone back to Verizon I went . I am now bitter at Verizon after doing 20 yrs of business with them. 3 people 1 hr later I was told it got delivered to my post office . I got the tracking num called the post office and they say o yes that was the droid. Go back in to Verizon another hr of explaining I walk out being told I will get a new iPhone in a couple of days, We’ll see . Once again I got the phone in your store just give me a new one . Do you realize how much of my time you have wasted ? do you care? O what is Your Policy ? How many Billion did you make last year ? I am Locked into a new 2 yr contract . Why don’t you just release me ? After 20 yrs do you think I will ever renew my contract ?

Simple process. If an iPhone go to the Apple Store and not Verizon
the phone from Verizon will be a refurbished device and not new unless under the 14 day worry free guarantee
    good luck

I have been a long time faithful customer of vzw and although the past year I have been late on payments many times and really couldn’t afford your exorbitant prices for services lots of other companies offer sometimes three times cheaper than what you charge, I have hung in there trying my best to meet my obligations.
This month has been no exception. You don’t know the background; the whole story of people’s lives. I know you could care less because all you care about is the profit-the money that comes in.
I was told when I agreed to pay my bill on the third per the recorded message that I had 14 days to pay…you cut me off anyway. The phones are not the tissue; your suspending my service means I cannot work. I may lose my job…how do you justify that? In any case? The least you could do would be to keep 4986 on and cut the phones off. But no. You refuse to compromise and meet the basic needs of your customer. What does that say about your company? I tried to call back on three separate occasions to tell you I couldn’t pay because of unexpected expenses but couldn’t get out of the automated system…sadly couldn’t get to a real person which also speaks volumes to me.
All this tells me this is a company I don’t wish to be affiliated with any more. As soon as I can, I will discontinue service with you…I know you could care less. I will honor the remaining portion of the contract but that’s it. You don’t deserve my business. I am a good, hardworking person who, at the sacrifice of myself and my needs, always pays her bills…albeit late at times. I realize others tell you stories and lies to justify themselves. That’s not me. If you knew what I had been through the last 7 yrs you would marvel that I am  still on my feet…don’t judge too quickly. You could be wrong…and in my eyes you are by doing this to me.
God will see us through this extremely scary time of that I have no doubt. No thanks to your company and lack of understanding and mercy. I am doing the best I can. Sadly you are not.
See I have choices. MANY choices of providers for services you offer. I don’t have to be treated like this. I don’t have to succumb to your coldness and callousness. I intend to choose better (and cheaper). If your company doesn’t get the “people factor” back you will be sorry.

Problem here is you admit you cannot afford the service.
And you want to blame Verizon for losing a job because you have no cell phone.
If your job depends on that phone I would pay it on time every time if you need a job to pay your bill.
No other service is going to treat you any different. And if you cannot afford Verizon's monthly invoice how are you going to afford new devices, activation fees, possible security deposits on any other cellular carrier? You can't.
Also if you made an arraignment to pay and then decide you cannot do so, why should Verizon extend you service or credit, or why is it you want to use the service and data and not pay for it as agreed.
Get a prepay phone. Its evident the cost is too high for you to afford on post pay.
    Good Luck

Hello, my name is Karan Taneja and i have been a loyal Apple customer.
I have been using Apple since it introduced iphone 4 and have been upgrading/buying every new phone Apple introduces after that.
I was always happy and surprized to see Apple doing so good to its customers.
Unfortunately, i experienced some thing really unprofessional and different this time.
It begun suddenly one day when i tried to charge my phone, the phone was on silent mode and as usual the phone vibrated when i kept it for charge.
After a few seconds the phone vibrated twice or thrice again when i re-inserted the cable thinking it might be loose.
It continued to charge well when i left the room for 2 hours and finally when i returned i could see a damaged i phone 5
lying on the floor and the phone vibrating continuously and i figured out there was a fault with the cable and the
current wasnt flowing continuously due to which the phone continued to vibrate and fell off the shelf.
Next day i took the iphone to Apple service centre at Saket which was closed.
Thinking its August 15 and so the store might be closed i went back to home and waited for the next day but unfortunately could not turn up since
i had to go to work on odd timings.
I again went to the same service centre on 17th August 2013 and saw the service centre closed again when i tried to contact
the other service centre and was informed about Saket's service centre already been shut down.
There was no hoarding/ banner any kind of intimation for the customers.
Since 18th August was Sunday and i was occupied on 19th August i went to service centre at Ansal Plaza Khel Gaon Marg on
20th August 2013 to complaint about the Faulty Cable and the damaged caused to my iphone 5 due to the same.
I very well explained the same to one of the person at the receiving desk at the service centre who accepted the cable
but explained me that he doesnt have the authority to accept my iphone without permission from the technical support people
who will be able to help me in that case and gave me the toll free number.
i Tried to reach the toll free number and finally managed to get online with a technical support executives who too all my details and
summary of the problem i experienced and finally kept me on hold for almost 10 minutes ormore after which he said he said that my
case cannot be considered and while the discussion was on, the call was disconnected and i was left frustrated as i still was at the service centre
but finally i left with no hope from Apple .
I tried to reach again at the toll free number, and finally managed to talk to a well behaved person who assured me of considering my case and suggested
me to go back to the service centre and advice the the person at the recieving end there to get me connected to the technical support team when i reach so that i could
submit my phone but, since, it was already around 4:30 and the service centre was about to shut and due to traffic
conditions all around i thought of visiting the service centre next day.
On 21st August 2013, i went back to the service centre and spoke to the one of the store person who adviced the case to the manager Mr. Alok ( as i remember )
who was really rude to tell me that i will have to call the technical support team on my own and then he will connect and that its not his work and all that .
I finally connected to one of the senior technical support executives Mr.Mohamed Azharuddin K who understood my concern and spoke to the manager of the store to accept
    my iphone.
My iphone was finally collected and i was assured i would get a call back next day from the service centre about the update.
It was now 22nd August 2013, no update was given,no call was received, i tried to call the service centre at 12:30, they were unaware about my case and knew only about the cable and said will call me
    back very shortly.
I called back at 2:30, still no update, at 4:30 i called back again when i was told that my case cannot be considered and i can collect my phone.
Similar discussion was held with Mr.Mohamed Azharuddin K.
I knew by the time i will reach the service centre would again close.
He told me that my case cannot be considered since the cable was recieved in the dead condition and wasnt working at all unlike what i told him about the cable.
On 23th August 2013, i went back to the service centre and collected my phone. When i asked about my old cable and told them that it was working and i wanted the technician
to check it properly when i handed it over, they had no answer but to say its already shipped. I spoke to the manager who said that he never told any body that the cable
was received in dead condition and he only conveyed to other authorities that the cable had fault .
I finally dont know what to do and came back with the new cable.
I just visited my time, petrol and parking charges in getting the cable replaced.
If i calculated i have spent around 16 hours and 2000 worth of money in just getting the cable replaced and have a broken phone in hand.
    More than a weeks torture.
Is that the way apple compensates for its fault ????????????????
I will make sure that i never buy any thing from Apple and advice all the people i know to not trust Apple blindly.

Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum.  Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is.  Apple is not here.  It's users, like you.
If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off.

  • I have been trying to get a feature/functionality in my Apple system -- have asked about it in Apple stores all over the country from coast to coast, and have received no response. How can I speak with someone at Apple that will help?

    Greetings whomever reads this.
I have 2 issues that Apple has not been able to resolve, that are vexing me.
    1) Somehow I have 2-3 apple IDs ... passwords etc. I have purchased 2 iPads, 2 -3 iPhones, a Macbook Pro, and a Mac Mini with Thunderbolt monitor. Somewhere in that process I might have created another Apple ID, not sure. When the confusion started, I went to an Apple store, and they suggested I create a new Apple ID, against my better judgement I did, which added to the confusion. Now, every time I need to sign in using my Apple ID for anything, I have no idea what user ID goes with what password. I have gone to Apple stores several time to try to get this situation cleared up and each time they try to get me to create yet another Apple ID. Now I won't do that anymore, but the original confusion remains. How can I wipe out all Apple IDs and just have one?
    2) I have been trying to get a particular functionality/feature/capability added to my Mac system. Don't want to go into detail here because someone will steal my idea and make millions. I have posed this question to Mac personnel from Geniuses, to Business Teams -- no one can figure it out. How do I get this fabulous capability I have thought up to come to life so I can make millions?

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.
