WOW! Major video issues here..and everywhere it seems!!

I have the latest iTunes version and runnin Windows Vista. Multiple issues with new 64gb ipod touch..well with itunes:
I can drag and drop new vids, songs pix etc to my touch, but when I go to convert to ipod verison on the vid the screen wither locks up for a minute or so and then lets me choose to convert and this also happens when i go to change the name of the file so they will be in some type of order on my ipod. this wasn't so bad until I starting adding more and more to itunes. I have a 64 gb and still have almost 35 gb available to add, so I have alot but it is far from full.
i am at the point now wheere itunes just locks up as soon as i click on a vid to convert or change the name and have to force quit to get out of it!?!?!? VERY FRUSTRATED since I just spent over 400 bucks on the dame thing and cant use it as is intended!
Searched far into the forums for similar issue but found none. Anyone else out there like this?

OK. I just turned off Genius and itunes is allowing me to go in and delete the larger file before the conversion to ipod version, but it is still very slow when i click on Get Info and Delete. I am afraind to add anything else tho for fear it will only get worse.

Odd sound and video issue comes and goes.

Please dont give me the "open up a new user account" solution, as to that is a cop out to a real solution.... THANK YOU... I see it too much here, and honestly it just isn't a answer. I actually found weird solutions to this issue, but I want to discuss this all here and see if anyone else experiences this or has any input to this WEIRD thing.
So, I have SEVERAL Macs, laptops, power macs, etc...been a 10 year Mac user, with hardly any problems because I am Mac savvy (usually) - I own a professional Audio recording studio, so know ALOT about sound, etc... and I only experience this on this laptop, my PowerBook 17inch Alluminum (the higher resolution one that has pad scrolling)...
Anyway, issue is this: Sound works fine 98% of the time. VERY seldomly for absolutely no reason and no change to any settings the sound will stop working on ANY movie player (Quicktime, Real Player, MPlayer, etc..) PLUS nit work on the net either. BUT all interface computer sounds will work fine (volume button changing sound, trash, etc...) and iTunes works fine, music related players will work, actually quicktime will actually play music, just not the sound WITH a movie/clip, whatever... - ALONG with the fact that IF it is a Quicktime, or Real Player movie/clip I am watching and NOT getting sound to, it ALSO only plays the movie for like 10 seconds then the screen stops, but the timeline marker still moves. I can then pause and start the movie/clip and it will then pick back up, again though for only 10 seconds....
WEIRD !!!
Solutions I have come up with but find weird, yet don't ALWAYS work...
#1 - Launch all my players one by one, and then quit them. Then restart, then everything works fine. But seldomly works.
#2 - Drain my battery all the way dead, shut off my computer, charge it until full, then UNPLUG from charger and turn computer on.... everything works fine then... Solves issue more often. (I notice this issue seems to happen alot when some odd charging antics of mine happen, like half charging, or leaving plugged in for days at a time on accident, or using leaving plugged in for to many days at a time)...
#3 - Go to "Utilities", "Audio/Midi", and make sure sample rates are at 44.1, and if are just rechange to 44.1 anyway, then close. Works the most....
As you can see this is not a user issue. OF COARSE if I start up a new user account it would work fine, but a week later or whatever it would happen on ANY USER. So this is some odd bug, or issue with something.
Anyone else got anything to say about this ? Or maybe have a permanent solution to it ?

Got an answer and a break-through here on this subject/issue, so I thought I would just keep this topic updated. Even though no one seems to be replying.
As I also stated this in the "No Sound On Net" topic by Cassafrass that is highly related to this topic I have found that my 3rd solution stated in my original post is absolutely the most gauranteed solution 100% of the time. And now as I have waited for this to happen 2 times since then and fixed it both times I have found this to be true. As I went to the "Audio" tab in the Audio/Midi Utility I did in fact BOTH times now see that somehow the audio input and output were set to 96k !! I did not do this, and I am doing nothing to make it happen... WEIRD... But yet like I said, I just switched them both back to 44.1k and everything instantly began working fine and as usual.
So as this is obviously NOT a permanent fix. It does show though that it IS where the problem is, and it is a solution. Now to only find out what is making it switch itself to 96k sometimes.
Also it does make sense too, because the net and certain players just can not play output at 96k, and even if they can won't do so if the source of audio is not at 96k. And since most to all audio out there is at 44.1k (CD quality) this all makes perfect sense.
Oddly though, as I have been running tests, I was thinking I was doing something that makes this happen (since very few people seem to have this problem) -- but these last two times it happened, I literally have done NOTHING but very basic computer using. I wasn't doing my extensive professional stuff as I usually do. So its really odd.
It is possible from my previous activities that I have corrupted the preference file that is linked to the Audio/Midi utility setting.... and that is my next stage of trouble shooting in which I will report back with my findings... (as stated in the other topic as well).
PLEASE if anyone else has any input or anything to say on this matter, please feel free to do so.

Video Issues: Scrolling and Playing

I rip dvd's to use on my iPhone. 90% of them are from religious dvd's our organization makes. I been doing this for awhile now, for my iPhone. I have 2400 individual video files currently on my iPhone 4. All my rips are setup as TV shows and not movies. That way everything can be sorted according to the dvd's.
These issues below have increased over the past few updates. With iOS 4 being the worst so far.
First issue I have right now. When scrolling through the tv shows the scrolling seems to be jumpy. Doesn't matter if I am in root area of shows or scrolling through the show seasons themselves.
Second issue, when I am watching a video it will sometimes freeze and stop playing and goes back to my list of shows.
These videos are mixes in two types. Some are .MP4 and .M4V. The issue seems to happen with both formats.
I appreciate any help or tips you have.

Okay, i was here yesterday and got some help with converting videos to fit into my iPod where there would be sound AND video. Well, I found that I have to have a certain software to do that, so I downloaded one, but then I ran into another (and hopefully last) problem.
I hit the 'Browse' button to search for the video file in the iTunes folder, but I find that most of my music and videos aren't even in the folder. What's up with this?

Major video issue

ati radeon 9700 pro . i just got it from zipzoomfly.com like a week or two ago, less then 2 weeks maybe, OEM version. sometimes monitor just goes black, not getting signal from pc. only way to fix is reboot the pc with the reset button. is this the ati radeon 9700 card problem or cus i am overclocked? has happened 2 times while using my pc in the last week or two. also playing games etc is fine, no crashes at all while running my 2.4c at 3ghz.

yeah i am sure cus hitting keys on the keyboard do nothing. control alt delete also doesn't do a thing. the settings are for so many minutes not using the pc go to screen saver and what happens is I'll be like typing and then boom, screen is black and the monitor light flashes, like it's not getting a signal, keyboard doesn't do anything either like hitting keys or control alt delete. the only way to fix is power off the pc which i have not done, or hit the pc case reset button to reboot which i have done.

Okay, I have read some of the issues here and I am scratching my head. I have my PC hard wired to a Linksys WRT G router and my Mac is connected wirelessly to it just fine. Now, my computers don't seem to see each other on the network. Pretend I am a a complete novice and step me through telling me how to network to share the CD files, documents and pics that I have on my PC with my MAC.
I have the sharing enabled on both the MAC and the PC and I had this working at one point but something went haywire and all was lost. I have since reset my router and re-established the wireless connection between the PC and MAC.
When I click on the Finder and click on Network, my PC is no longer in there like it was before.
Any help would be appreciated.

YouTube Videos Issue

For some reason I can only watch certain videos on here, and its brand new I just bought it this morning! I tried downloading flashplayer again but it doesn't seem to help? I don't understand why it wouldn't be working?

Video issues and fan

This might be a 10.6.4 issue or it could be hardware, I'm not sure.
First Issue:
Oftentimes, when I try to play video on my Macbook (stats included) the video hangs up and the audio skips like a bad record (remember records? ). This problem is particularly bad when playing videos from the internet but it persists even when the streaming bar is fully loaded in the browser. I took an online masters course this summer and constantly had this skipping issue so I thought it was Adobe and Apple not playing nice since their videos were Flash based. Now, I can see that the problem also occurs when trying to play Quicktime videos. I made an iweb site with a few videos and my Macbook can't seem to play them. However, when I go over to my Mac Mini it has no issues and it has the same processor in it and less RAM.
I know what your thinking; 'check the activity monitor.' I do check the activity monitor, constantly. When this problem occurs I'm never using more than 50% CPU and I usually have at least 1 GB of RAM available although the problem has manifested itself with a much as 2 GB of RAM available and minimal CPU usage.
This issue is starting to get worse and I've had a few kernal panics lately, which may or may not be related.
At the beginning of the summer I reinstalled the system from scratch to see if that would solve the issue; no such luck.
I thought is was the RAM so I tested it with Techtool Deluxe. No problems found with the RAM.
Now, this issue might be related to the second issue but I'll let you decide.
Second Issue:
This issue has been around for a long time and I've largely ignored it since all the forums I've been on don't know what to do/can't pin it down.
The issue is that the fan runs constantly at a high RPM no matter what I do.
Again, I check the Activity monitor consistently and I have it set so I can view "All Processes." No 'memory hogs' running.
I also have smsFanControl running and set for 1800 as the min speed.
Furthermore, my wife has the same model computer (only manufactured later) and hers runs whisper quiet while mine sounds like a wind tunnel.
In fact, as I type this I have 1.29 GB of RAM free, 97% of my processor is idle and I'm running at 65C with a fan speed of 6200 RPM.
Any thoughts on either of these two issues would be a help. Thanks

Anyhow, I have reset the SMC before on this computer but I haven't had much luck there. I'll give it another shot since I haven't done this in awhile.
I haven't tried safe mode. I'll give that a shot.
I don't think I uninstalled the flash player before updating so I'll give that a try too.
Computer is coming up on 3 years old now. This particular MacBook has never been repaired but, interestingly enough, its a computer that was gotten through the Apple Care program because its predecessor had major issues (long story) and I got a replacement.
Just a bit ago, I used tech tools pro to totally defrag both the files and the free space on the drive. Took close to two days to complete all that. My new theory is that maybe the fragmentation is causing slower than usual read times from my drive although I don't know why that would effect just videos. Its a long shot I think but I haven't got too many options left. My hunch is that dust or gunk has worked its way into the computer and is causing heat issues. I've tried shooting compressed air in the vents but I don't think it does much good. If all else fails I could open it up but that's the very last step I would take (and I'd think long and hard about it too before going ahead).
I will definitely try your suggestions first since they're much more sensible than cracking open the computer for a cleaning. Thanks for your help!

This driver fixes most known issues.   Note that there are still several monitors with known persistence issues (e.g. what the monitor does after a sleep/resume cycle).   The plan is to address these in the next driver release.

i updated the video drive and was really excited when i hooked up my DP to DP and the monitor worked. Soon after though, a bunch of issues arised:
1) When the monitor went to sleep it shut of the tablet as well.
2) My CPU is now running high (50%-60%) and my cursor has a constant blue circle spinning around
3) The fan is constantly running, not high but on. It did not do this prior to the driver update
The Venue is working in the sense that i am running an HDMI to HDMI monitor off the dock and my application seem to run at the same speed.
Tech support downgraded me back to A02 but the problem still persists. We are now going to reimage.
I am not super technical, but i almost feel like the A03 driver changed a setting or two in the system which is causing the issues.

Suppose your have this top notch personal library at home covering, say, four or five walls. I'm sure some of you do and - book lovers that you are - have crafted a very efficient way to retrieve any of them easily. By genre first then topics, alphabetically, whatever.
Now suppose you were to reorganize your entire library so it starts by where you got the books in the first place - bookstore, resellers, clearing houses, publishers, etc. - then by genre, topic... How would you find a book in such a mess?
That last scenario is exactly what's happening in the digital world. You buy from Amazon, you need Kindle, Apple requires iBooks, PeachPit wants Adobe Digital Edition. I can go on forever... Granted some eReaders make an effort to read several formats but...
Fact is, that terrain is still very fragmented and full of pitfalls. Any company that issues a book reader wants a peace of that zillion dollar pie!
As a consumer, how do I chose between the gut wrenching feeling of buying a paperback or hard cover (knowing full well that somewhere a tree paid the price) or buying digital instead, hoping I can find that subtle passage in a eBook I read four, five years ago and is now tucked away in some long forgotten, obsure eReader?
Apple seems to add to this mess by creating digital shelves (iBooks and Newsstand) which are only supported by highly mobile platform (iPhone, iPad). We can't read a publication on our laptop or bigger machine (which is something that quite frankly should have been made entirely possible at release time!) First things first, Apple could strive to correct this abberation. This forum testifies to that very need. I choose to believe Apple is working on it and that it is probably only a matter of time.
Could Apple do something about all those eReaders out there? I have believed for a long time that Apple clearly understands that technology must adapt to the end user, not the other way around. For instance, Apple knows full well that it is not the device which is mobile, it is the the person carrying it.
Assuming that eReader, their exclusive content and format (ePub, DRM and all) are here to stay:
I can totally embrace the notion of a Spotlight searchable database. A place where I could store my digital library index complete with linked information (including metadata listing which eReader is involved) AND, in any configuration I choose. Then I wouldn't be so hesitant to get a book from here, another one from there... This database would centralize my search.
I also certainly appreciate that iTunes could play host to such a database. iTunes has become an indispensable hub which stores links to all major medias such as our music, our movies and our books. iTunes is also highly portable and entirely searcheable using Spotlight.
Make no mistake. I know full well that my ideas are only a shot in a very dark place and most probably will never materialize.
But these forums amount to a sea full of ideas (that means you!)
So, what do you propose?

I have a powerbook G-4 15 inch, It wont boot up and the display only works on the first try. it gets to the apple screen and freezes, when i try to restart theres no display. Help please, whats the issue here?

I left it running over night, it was running perfectly, in the morning the screen was black. i tried to restart it and got no display but i can hear the machine running. so i put away for several months, plug it in, charge the battery, it boots, i have a display, it loads the desktop and freezes. when i try to restart it theres no display. the last time i tried, i started it, i got to the apple screen and nothing. whats the issue here? please help.

I have installed the agent 10 or 15 times and one installation has failed, no error appeared during the installation but I am having inconsistent issues with my ethernet card not working here and there. We rebooted and can log into Novell client but the login prompt did not appear for ESM client or the icon was not in the systray. Everything seems to work, besides at times (a couple times today) it terminates his ethernet card/connection. I would re-image his computer but he has several applications and it would take several hours, so I am hoping someone has an idea to fix this issue. So I was trying to figure out why he did not get the prompt to login and why it's not in the systray and it appears to not have completed the install? I checked the add/remove programs, its not listed within their, I also checked the registry and found nothing for endpoint within their, but the files are within c:\program files\novell\zenworks endpoint security.
I have also tried uninstalling it but that fails due to it "not being installed", and it will not reinstall over itself either.
I did notice that stuninstdrv.exe is running in task manager. Any help would be great...

If you are searching the registry, check for the "Senforce" string. It should be at HKLM\Software\Senforce
Try running the install program for the ZSC with the following command line:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1"
If you've specified an uninstall password, try this one instead:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1 STUIP=password"" (please note the double quote at the end)

How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad?

How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad. She no longer has an iDevice and I want to retrieve some really sentimental photos and videos of my grandson. I've logged on to her iCloud account on my iPad, but don't know what to do next.

Her camera roll photos and videos would be included in her backup. Restoring her backup to the iPad should recover them.
Start by creating a current backup of your iPad that you can restore your data from later. It's faster if you do this on your computer using iTunes; if you can't, create a backup in your iCloud account. If you can back up to your computer, do this by connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Back Up. Then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
Then erase the iPad and restore her iCloud backup as explained here: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521. When it's done, import the recovered photos and videos to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then erase the iPad again and restore the backup you made earlier, either from iTunes or from iCloud depending on where you backed it up.
If you want the photos back on the iPad, put them in a folder and sync them to your iPad by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing. If you want to videos back on your iPad, import them to your iTunes library (File>Add to Library), then sync them to your iPad from the Movies tab of your iTunes sync settings. You will then find them in the Home Movies section of the Videos app on your iPad. Just so you are aware, photos that you sync to your iPad can only be removed later by syncing them off your iPad (by deselecting the folder on the Photos tab and syncing again). They can't be deleted on the iPad itself.

Optiplex 9020, Intel 4600 + AMD video card = bluescreens and other issues for dual monitors

Our organization purchased a number of 9020s with the onboard Intel and the AMD 8490
Over time, many of these systems would experience video issues. Originally they were configured with one monitor was plugged into the intel VGA and the 2nd monitor was plugged into the AMD DVI. output
Among the issues were bluescreens. When dragging something from one monitor to another, there would either be another bluescreen or other graphical glitches. Despite uninstalling/reinstalling both drivers these issues would persist. Eventually we tried moving both monitors to the Intel outputs, issue still persisted, then we tried moving all the monitors to the AMD ports, issue still persisted. Eventually we removed the AMD card entirely. That seems to have corrected the graphics issues. That being said, I don't think the issue is faulty hardware, about a dozen systems have exhibited this issue so I am doubting that each one of them all have faulty hardware. I suspect a driver problem somewhere. The Intel driver and/or the AMD driver don't seem to play well with each other.
This issue has persisted across both the AMD 8490 and the AMD R7 250 cards.
Our organization is locked into certain configurations, so at present, we are unable to order PCs without the extra card. The extra card hasn't been needed once onboard cards started gaining the ability to do multiple monitors.

Win7 64 bit. We haven't had the blue screen in a while so I don't have the specific message, but it did reference an AMD file. Drivers have been uninstalled/reinstalled numerous times.
Latest issue is that when the user steps away from the computer and the monitor goes into powersave after 30 minutes, when the user returns the monitors will turn on, but the screen stays dark.

Audio and Video issue with Windows 8.1 upgrade on Ideapad n585

I upgraded my Ideapad N585 to Windows 8.1 the other day, took forever, but it made it through. Unfortunately, I now get boot erors for the Dolby software, and the AMD Vision/Catalysyt Control Center. Neither of these programs are able to start, from startup or even manually. They just won't run. Sound seems to come out fine still, but I do have video issues.
First off, my computer doesn't seem to recognize a HDtv as a monitor through the HDMI port. I still get an image, but it's set to current screen resolution instead of 1080i. I tried using the detect button to force it to look for a second monitor (my TV), but it showed nothing connected, though at the time I was using two screens. Now my monitor's screen resolution seems to be a little higher than my TV's, but it doesn't fit the screen properly, and will sometimes put a black border around the desktop, not using the full screen. I have also noticed, that when plugged into the tv, if a background program like a screen saver starts (and I am one of the few people who still use them, I like BOINC, sue me), it will reset the screen resolution to what it requires. When the program exits, the screen resolution stays, and that becomes the new max screen resolution until I restart the computer. So far, it only does this through the tv, if I run the laptop monitor alone, it doesn't happen.
I did try updating the software with what's available through the support site, but nothing happened. I even went as far as to use the Windows 9x~XP standbys of completely uninstalling, manually removing everything from the system registry I could find relating to these two programs, and then finally reinstalling the software. Giving the audio and video a complete clean slate to work from, and got no positive results. I restart the computer, Dolby and Catalyst won't boot, and blind to HDtv. Problems as described above still apply.
Anybody else have this issue? Anybody got a fix?

My computer updated to 8.1 without my wanting it to, I have the same problems as you. I installed the video driver because the brightness was locked on what I had it. (the bar would move but did not change)
I searched for brightness and n585 and I was able to find a driver, now brightness works but HDMI still does not. When I plug in the TV both screens go black with all 4 options in the "project" screen.

this worked for me i stumbled across this
I unplugged the power cable with the hdmi cable plugged in. Hit (windows key+p) scrolled to duplicate and it worked.I plugged in the power cord back in and it still worked.
