WP8 lumia ad-hoc support

I have my l920 for 4 months now, I was very sattisfied until I discovered last week, that this device can't connect to ad-hoc WIFI networks! Siriously nokia? In 2013? I can't connect to hotspot that I make on a symbian phone with joiku spot. L920 doesn't even see the network!
Are there any plans to correct this in the future?

Really? Anyway, it is Microsoft and not Nokia that you should be telling this to. It is quite common for mobile devices not to support ad hoc. Take android devices for instances. Android does not natively support ad hoc either. Your best bet would be to head over to the Microsoft forum and suggest it as a feature for fure WP8 updates.

I do not know how to set up an IMAP account in my shared hosting account with Plesk, which provides POP3/SMTP access to emails.
I am a Microsoft Partner, develop Microsoft based solutions, and genuinely like the Microosft platform. Still, after about 6 months and many hundreds of dollars later, I find myself running out of patience. How long should I be patient for a solution, when Nokia/Microsoft/T-Mobile will not give me a solution or be part of the process.
Microsoft Partner Support, as mentioned, told me this morning in response to a follow-up from yesterday that there is nothing else that they can do and that the situation is out of their hands. If it is out of their hands and they do not want to do anything about it, then what about me?
Should I bite the bullet, return the phone, and sadly jump onto the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android bandwagon? If I do that, I will feel cheated, as I really would like to use Windows. I kind of like the Windows Phone 8 interface. How long should I be patient?
Email is a big issue. I am sure that there are other issues too, just I am not aware of it left.
By the way, I never received an Portino update. The last update was the one that Microsoft gave back in November, which caused the problem in the first place.

I really am thinking that this 80004005 error is a deal breaker, which is so sad.
By the way, Nokia cannot do anything. Microsoft owns the OS and it is up to the carrier, T-Mobile USA in my case, to do something about the problem. Microsoft posts major updates, which causes breaks and annoyances. T-Mobile is resonsible for minor updates and fixes. T-Mobile, as you can tell by visiting t-mobile.com (as of 5/2/2013) is no longer interested in the Windows platform (okay Catwalk announced, but that has the same problem. Catwalk is a Lumia 922 or so, as I understand things). T-Mobile will not post an update. They never have, so why start now?

Ad-hoc support

Will Playbook ever support ad hoc connections?
My Nokia N95 can only do ad hoc connections and bluetooth tethering won't work either. I am planning on returning the playbook if I cant connect it on the go.
My apps: Offline Viewer and FlashLight

I would also like to know this. Just got my Playbook and it can't see my N95's shared wifi connection (as it's ad-hoc) and it won't even see it as a BT device to try tethering.
A real downer as I'm not sure what options are available now for using the PB on the move. Surely ad-hoc could be implemented in the wifi driver?
Would be good to know if this feature is in any milestones coming up.

Lumia 820 4G support in India

I have indian lumia 820 and I heard that it dosen't support 4G networks yet in India. Is it true?
If it's true will there be any future firmware upgrade which can enable the 4G support.

Nokia Lumia 2520 - No support email received?

I'm wondering if someone could help me with figuring out why I didn't receive a support email back regarding my shipping details for my support case.
Does anyone know an email or contact number for Nokia support so I can get that tracking info email sent to me?
My repair status shows as being "returned" but I've yet to receive that email. (and yes I've tracked spam/junk)

Need Help Lumia 710, local support can't handle th...

Hello, i got a 'challenging' problem. In my country, when someone want to join specific internet package connection they have to register with their phone.
the workflow should be like this:
1. press/call in specific format (for me its: *100#)
2. choose the package through keypad
3. done
my problem is, when the package's list displayed i can't choose because the keypad/keyboard is hidden.
Any idea to solve this ? how to do this from lumia 710 ?

You need to update your phone. This problem has been solved in latest software version.

Lumia 900 Hebrew support

So I purchased this phone on the internet and as much as it was promised to be with a full Hebrew support by the end of 2012, nothing really happend. When on earth we will get that language done? How hard can it be translating? What would I do now exactly.. how will I sms on Hebrew back and front and would actaully be able to read it?

WP8 - Lumia - automatic boot for alarm?

Does a Lumia device with Windows Phone 8 automatically turn itself on for sounding the alarm?
My Nokia E51 did, as does my BlackBerry. But I noticed iPhones cannot. It saves power and you can be sure there is no radiation .

Try taking the battery out, put it back in and do not switch on, then see if your alarm wakes up the phone..
And no keeping the charger connected won't harm the phone. Also going to flight mode during night would minimize energy use and put the phone in a virtual sleep mode.
Proven or not, studies and experiments have set standards for safe levels of radiation, which are then set even lower to include extra security. Then the phone even comes in well within these levels so there is no issue here, besides if you turn on flight mode all radios are off..

Fragile Lumia 820 Screen + support/service issue

I got 820 to evangelize lumia & got bad face in front of others for praising this s***t device.
How fragile screen of such high end (next to flagship) device? Screen got cracked falling from less than 1 feet.I can't believe it for such a brittle screen glass.
On top of it I cannot fix the screen as it is out of stock from past 1 month in Hyderabad. Called Nokia care multiple times and all turned up against saying no stock for next 15/20 days.
what a useless investment. Very bad experience/impression as I use to love Nokia since my first mobile 7610(which by the way still runs).

My problem is not that screen is broken/having crack. That's the fact and I know its a common issue with all 820 devices.. Its a design flaw from Nokia..
My problem is with after sales service. Nokia care is asking for ~10K Rs. to fix screen (half the cost of device) but that too they cannot do as they are out of stock.. So all in all its waste of investment.. (both money, time and running behind and saying I am biggest fan of Nokia..)

12 months warranty for the phone itself perhaps? this is the case for most handsets, but does vary due to consumer law in each country/region. could you also please make your question clearer if you have any other queries?

Lumia 720 WP8 Update 3

Hey guys I want to know when the Windows Phone 8 Update 3 and Lumia Black update will roll out for the Nokia Lumia 720. I am currently in the Middle East so I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me the approximate release date in this region and internationally.

Current rumours suggest that it the rollout for Lumia Black/GDR3 will begin in January. No specific dates are known for specific countries. All WP8 Lumia's will get this update.
Q1 runs from 1st January until 31st of March and the roll out should be complete before the end of Q1. Carrier branded devices may have to wait longer than unbranded devices.

850Mhz 3G Support - Regional differences in Lumia ...

Hi there,
I am looking at the Nokia Lumia 800 for Australia for use on the Vodafone or Telstra 850 3G (not just GSM) networks.
Even though the Nokia web site says the phone has the support for 3G 850 - I am led to believe the phones that ship in the UK market do not support this.
Are there regional differences in which Lumia's will support 850 3G???
If so, which phones in which markets will? And if so - why not have a common phone worldwide?
