WPA/WPA2 issue

Hello there,
My issue:
Authetification mode with WPA/WPA2 personnal mode with PSK it seem not able.
In the logs of my AP, i see:
"A STA is rejected by 802.1x daemon "
My PSK is similar to: !Password@1234
*The WEP authetification (64/128) works fine*.
Configuration:
Itouch with FW 3.1.2
AP DLink DAP-1160 with FW1 1.30
No MAC filtering
I see in other forum many issues with the 802.1x authetification. How to resolve this issue, does the Itouch works fine only in the WEP mode?
There is a limitation with the PSK?
Thanks
Gilles

Try the following step:
# Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
# Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
Then check the connectivity status..

  • WRT400N WPA/WPA2 Issue

    Looking for a little help.
Just bought a WRT400N and set it up using 5ghz and 2.4ghz bands, and using WPA TKIP for both.  Problem is that both my laptop and my iphone occassionally lose connectivity and my iPhone says that my WPA key isn't valid.  Does anyone know of a way to fix?
    Thanks

Quick update: Finally managed to get our iPhones to connect to wifi.
After trying the above and then having a terrible experience with Linksys "award winning" support (twice), I decided to start fresh and restored configurations to factory settings. After doing some reading on Apple's forums, I did the following:
I changed the Passphase for 2.4GHz Wireless Security since we had given it to support.
I changed 2.4GHz Standard Channel from auto to 11 - 2.462GHz (as suggested above, but changed nothing else)
    Saved, rebooted router and iPhone.
Entered new Passphase in iPhone wifi settings, and voila! Connected to wifi.
Hopefully this can be of some help to someone else!

  • Airport no longer works with WPA, WPA2 or WEP after 10.4.8 update.

    A little disappointing.
After updating to 10.4.8 (I first did Software Update, then read here that the downloaded is safer, so I downloaded, repaired permissions, rebooted, installed 10.4.8 again from the download, rebooted, repaired permissions once more)
Now when I try to use the Airport on my MacBook Pro 17" I cannot connect to my wireless router (DLINK-524) with any security turned on (WPA, WPA2 or WEP). The signal strenght flashes on full (I'm close to the router) and off and I do not connect.
Any clue how to fix this?
    Macbook Pro 17" Mac OS X (10.4.7)
    Macbook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I just did that - I tried a rollback with an "archive and install", and then stopped at 10.4.7. My problems persist... I'm actually quite amazed! Qurious if a clean install would solve the issue, but not curous enough to try. The way i see it, a re-install (even doing an "archive thingy") should include resetting all drivers. Well, either I am wrong and they are saved along with user settings - or else your explanation seems the only viable one; that there was a firmware upgrade included in this install. I admit - I did NOT read any readme. On the other hand, I tried my first install using the normal update.
    =)
Anyway, after deleting all system prefs, deleting and reconnecting networks, repairing disk permissions and key rings, deleting keyrings etc. etc. - doing it all over again in different orders etc., I tried "arhive and install" back to 10.4.7. When that doesn't solve it, I give up. I have now opened my network - disabled crypt, and settle for simple connection control on MAC adresses. That works.
I would REALLY appreciate a fix, ladies and gentlemen on Apple. I mean really as in I am gonna egg your house if you don't give me...

  • IOS 5 can't connect to WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Wireless Network

After upgrading multiple iPhone 4 (CDMA versions) to IOS 5.0, I have not been able to get them to connect to our WPA/WPA2 Enterprise wirless network.  We use a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller.  The wireless network is capable of doing WPA or WPA2 Enterprise with PEAP.  These phones all connected to this network fine before the upgrade.
When connecteding to the network, it prompts me for the username and password and when I tap join it sits for about 10-15 seconds then says "Unable to join the network" with a Dismiss button.
It connects to non-Enterprise networks just fine.  I have tested it on WPA Personal and WPA2 Personal networks and it has worked on several without issue.
I have tried "forget this network" with no success.
Is anyone else having this problem?  I know of at least three Verizon iPhone 4's that have this exact same problem.  I haven't seen one working with this configuration yet.

    I have the same problem:
    Cisco WLC's -> WPA2 Enterprise AES + EAP-PEAP 802.1x with CCKM
Pre 5.0 - all worked fine
Post 5.0 - it tries to connect and after few moments i get error - couldn't connect.

  • Wlc 5508: windows 8 can't connect using wpa+wpa2

    Dear All,
    I need your help.
My customer have Cisco WLC 5508 (cisco wlc 7.0.116.0) .
We create ssid with layer 2 security wpa+wpa2.
Using Windows 8, it's can't connect to the wireless lan.
But if I change, the ssid, with layer 2 security wep.
    It can connect / connected.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jerri

This is a known issue with Windows 8.  You need to upgrade your firmware to 7.0.250.X for wireless clients running Win8.
Another thing, choose one:  Either WPA or WPA2.  Don't enable one and "hope" the wireless client will make the choice because most of the time, they won't.

  • New Router - WPA/WPA2 is Awful!!!

Just got the new AirPort Extreme and trying it with my new C2D MacBook. I'm having serious issues using WPA/WPA2 enough to make me think the thing is defective.
For starters, if I don't use any encryption or use WEP, connections are instant. When I use WPA or WPA2 (similar behavior with each) and try to connect it will say "error connecting to network". I hit try again 2-3 times, each with an error. Finally, I hit OK (to quit) and once in awhile it will suddenly connect after that. Imagine that, it tells me there's an error, that it can't connect, and then immediately after connects. Its really unstable. If I put my computer to sleep, it will rarely reconnect to the network.
For the record, I have all the latest software, drivers, etc, this thing is just really flaky. For comparison, I tried it with an iBook G4 (802.11g) 10.4.8 also with updated drivers and similar effects. It tells me it can't connection and then randomly it connects.

I have my both my Extreme 802.11n's setup with Wireless Security "WPA/WPA2 Personal" without a noticeable problem. However, when I open up my Network Utility (Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/Network Utility). The Network Utility (Network Interface (en1)) and under the Transfer Statistics I'm showing the following...
    Sent Packets = 4897
    Send Errors = 4
    Recv Packets = 7452
    Recv Errors = 124
    Collisions = 0
I'm worried about the errors... On another thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=852387&tstart=0) they show that moving to WEP security gets rid of the errors... So my question is this... Are these errors affecting anything? If so, how easy/difficult is it to move from WPA2 to WEP? Do you have to reset everything and start from scratch? Or an you just make the switch and hit update?

  • Wifi w/WPA/WPA2 Enterprise

I have a strange issue. We are trying to connect iPhones to the corporate wifi network. This uses WPA/WPA2 Enterprise encryption with EAP-FAST authentication. I have created a Wifi Configuration Profile using the iPhone Config Utility v3.3. All settings look correct.
I install this config profile to an iPhone 4 and it cannot connect.
I install this same config profile to iPod Touch 2G and it does not connect.
I install this same config to iPad2 and it works perfectly fine. Connects every time no problem.
Apparently there is some difference in how the devices handle wifi security?!?
Does anyone have any insight into this?

Is the wireless network an "n" network?
    If so, the iPhone 4 supports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11n 2.4GHz only).
No such 2.4GHz only requirement for an "n" network with the iPad.

  • Can't connect to AEBS from XP or Linux -- WPA encrytpion issues

Hello all... New to this forum because not actually an Apple user but, well, I've moved in with someone who is. So I want to be able to connect to her AEBS from my PC, which is usually running Linux, but sometimes Windows XP when necessary. I bought a wireless card (ASUS WL-138G v2, Broadcomm 43xx chipset) and assumed that connecting from Linux might be a bit tricky, but that from Windoze should at least be straightforward. And it isn't. I've seen a lot of similar threads around here, but none that clearly answer the problem... Both XP and Linux can see the SSID, and I know that Linux can pick up the MAC address of the Airport, the channel, etc. but neither are able to connect.
The issue seems to be to do with the WPA encryption. I tried following the clear step-by-step on ifelix, but we found that (a) the Hex version of the PSK is 64 digits, which is much longer than the Equivalent Network Password example in the step-by-step (256 bit encryption?); and (b) neither that nor the plaintext password worked.
Similarly, wpa_supplicant under linux offered me nothing -- or error messages about the length of the key, when I tried the whole 64-digit version. iwconfig eth1 key s:xxxxxxxxx ('s' for 'string', followed by the plaintext password) gave a hex version that was only some 26 digits long, i.e. presumably the straightforward 104/128 WEP key... which, of course, didn't work.
AEBS is running as 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible); administration is from an iMac running OS X Tiger; Airport Utility version 7.0; WPA/WPA2 personal; logs show it's using TKIP; plaintext password is only 10 characters, not 13 -- but that only seems to matter under WEP...(?)
Airport Utility does offer her the option of running WEP instead of WPA, but I don't see why, ideally, she should need to downgrade her security.
I'm hoping that if I can find out how to sort this out in 'Doze I can either figure out or find the right help to get it sorted in Linux myself... but I'm out of my depth here. All suggestions -- other than starting from scratch with a shiny new Mac -- gratefully received!

Hello tortipede. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I'm hoping that if I can find out how to sort this out in 'Doze I can either figure out or find the right help to get it sorted in Linux myself... but I'm out of my depth here. All suggestions -- other than starting from scratch with a shiny new Mac -- gratefully received!
I do have a few suggestions for you ...
From either Windows or Linux, can your PC connect to the roommate's 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) if the AEBSn's wireless network is NOT encrypted? If not, can the PC connect to any other wireless network?
On the Linux-side, I haven't tried the particular distro that you are using, but I have had success with WPA wireless network from both Ubuntu 7.10 (all variations) and PCLinuxOS 2007. For these, I'm using a Linksys 802.11g PC-Card adapter.

  • [Solved] Trouble with WPA/WPA2 and wireless connections (ath9k)

Hi, I'm having some issues with my Arch install. Right now I'm posting this from Windows so I don't have precise logs, but I mostly remember the issue so bare with me.
I'm using ath9k with my Bigfoot Killer 1202 card (not sure what the exact model is), and I can't connect to my university's WPA/WPA2 access point. Using wpa_supplicant I get the error "4-way handshake failed - pre-shared key may be incorrect".
So after some digging I found that I can get it to authenticate with nohwcrypt=1, but when I rmmod ath9k && modprobe ath9k nohwcrypt=1 it enumerates itself as wlan0 (instead of wlp3s0, which is what I get from booting up).
Then I made the file /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k with the contents "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" but it seems to still not want to connect until I rmmod && modprobe manually.
Can someone point me in the right direction on how to fix this issue? I haven't used Arch in a few years and a lot of things have changed, and so far it seems nothing works as I expect it to. Also, how do I get my wifi card to enumerate as the same device no matter when I load ath9k? I don't care if it's called wlan0 or wlp3s0, I just want it to stay the same.

Update: It seems to work ONLY when I rmmod && modprobe; if I force nohwcrypt=1 at boot it doesn't seem to work. Seems kind of odd... Wonder if this is a kernel issue?
Edit: Also updated with dmesg (because I'm an idiot and forgot to include it)

Edit: I ended up solving my problem -- the issue I was running into was that ath9k was baked into my initrd without nohwcrypt=1. I opted to `mkinitcpio` again without MODULES='ath9k' -- alternatively, you could add a modprobe.d file to FILES= to get it to work, but I just figured this is simpler.

  • WVC54GCA Missing WPA/WPA2 security options in web interface

I just got a WVC54GCA and found out that there are some missing configuration options in the wireless settings:
    On the cameras web interface:
web interface > Basic : Wireless Settings > [ Edit Security Settings ] > Security Mode:
the dropdown gives me only two options: Disable and WEP, but no WPA, WPA2!
I upgraded to the latest firmware (1.1.00 build 02), but the problem remains.
Tried different browsers (Firefox 3.5, IE8) with the same result.
Is this a firmware bug?  A faulty device? Anyone else having the same issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try to clear the Browser settings of your IE and then try to login to the setup page of your Camera, and check if you are able to find that options.... If still unable to find WPA/WPA2 Option on your camera, Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your camera, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable....
Now check if you are able to find that options... If still not then i think it might be the problem with the Camera...  I think you need to replace your Camera.

  • Nokia 808 WPA/WPA2 secured wifi problems

I have a nokia 808 pureview with BELLE FP2. However i am not able to connect to WPA/WPA2 secured wifi connection in my college. It should ask for a username and password for authentication but it simply tries to connect automatically and does not connect saying authenticaton failed. Please help me over the issue.

  • Wireless Networking - unable to select an encryption type for WPA/WPA2

I recently upgraded to 10.5.3 and didn't notice until now that Network preferences no longer provides an option for specifying the encryption method (TKIP or AES-CMP) for a new wireless network? I don't recall ever having had this issue before. Is this new to 10.5.3 or has this been a recognized problem prior to 10.5.3? I can only select from WPA Personal or Enterprise, WPA2 Personal or Enterprise (ignoring the WEP options here).
Is there another area of the OS that I can modify to change the encryption type?
    This is weird...

While I was able to get WEP to work, it would only switch to WEP for both bands, and I wasn't too excited about this option. So to max out security, what I did was keep my dual band Airport Extreme running on WPA2 (5GHz N-only for all my Mac equipment; a wireless G for ipod touch). I then bought a linksys/cisco WRT54G2 for about $40 new from Amazon, and connected it with ethernet to the Airport Extreme base. Took a little fiddling to get it to behave as a bridge (can describe for you how I did this if you go down this route). But most importantly, maxed out security for WEP on this device by not broadcasting the SSID (don't on my other network either), having a very obscure SSID name (think strong password), set an equally obscure random password of all character types, setup up MAC filter so it could only be connected to my Pronto (and one of my notebooks for configuration). Also run it on a different 2.4ghz channel than the Airport Extreme to minimize conflict. Copied the info over to the Pronto config program (I use bootcamp to do this on my notebook), and everything works great. I do wish Apple gave us complete control over both bands (like the level of config I've done here), but the solution here was still pretty clean. My understanding is that Philips is planning to add WPA/WPA2 to Pronto capability by year-end (the connect/re-connect times are slower and they didn't want their products taking a performance hit, but I'd happily wait an extra second or two after picking up the remote to not expose my network via WEP). Hope that helps, but probably not what you wanted to hear. I found it a fairly quick and inexpensive workaround for now.

  • Ipad will not connect to wifi wpa/wpa2

My Ipad 2 will not connect to my Wifi setup.  I have a wireless router with a WPA/WPA2 security.  I have the password and I just keep getting the message unable to connect.  Any suggestions on how to solve this?

I don't have this exact issue. Mine will connect, but it drops the connection all the time. It's really frustrating. Searching for a solution, I've come across a few things that might help you. You could try turning off the wifi in settings and then turning it back on, going into the settings and restoring network settings, and going into settings and renewing your lease. I tried all of those things and none of them fixed my problem, but a lot of threads here mention them, so I assume they work for some people. I hope this helps!

  • WPA/WPA2 Powerbook G4 can't connect to dome Airport Extreme

    Hi,
My Security settings are now set to WPA/WPA2 Personal on my dome Airport Extreme.
The only computer that can't connect to it is my 15" Powerbook G4. It shows the airport at the top, but only gives me the option of running WPA. I am running OS 10.4.11, because I need to keep classic on one computer!
I do not have the option of setting my airport to just WPA
From what I've read in this forum, I'm just not sure if I will be able to connect wirelessly with this computer.
Any help or advise out there?
    Thanks!!

Oh geez, I can't even post to the right forum. Apologies!
