WPA2 key change question

Hey guys, I am trying to change wpa2 key on an Aironet 1231g access point. Once I change they key, clients cannot authenticate to the access point unless they either change the password or forget and re add the network on the client device. Is there any way to make the client ask for a new key if the key doesn't match when authenticating?

I believe that GPO will not push out the pre-shared key. It will push out the other settings just not the key. What we have done in the past is use the netsh wlan export command and then create a batch file to perform the netsh wlan import. The batch file and the profile XML can be on a network drive and you can have a login script execute that or have users execute it manually. Of course, I've only done this with windows machines.
Thanks,

  • Apple loops not folloiwng key changes

They follow tempo changes, but not key changes. Using both "green" and "blue" loops from the Loop Browswer, as well some audio takes I recorded and converted to Apple Loops using the Loop Utility. Same result for all.
    Ideas? Thanks.

thanks.. heres a another question now that i have it making the changes.
is there a way to select what follows the changes and what doesnt. for example
I edit my drum tracks in phatmatik and then bring the midi files into logic. I don't want them to change, because the drums sounds would be off and in some case triggering no sounds.
    thanks

  • WPA Key Rotation Question

    Hi All,
In an AP, the broadcast-key change <value> command tells the AP how often to rotate the WPA key.  My question: How do clients remain connected to the Wireless LAN when the key rotates?  If the client authenticates (via Radius in my example below), then I would think the key challenge would need to be met. However, if in 5 minutes the key rotates, for example, isn't the client going to lose connection since the challenge value is now different?  The only thing I can think of is that Radius handles this dynamically once a client is authenticated, thus avoiding any disruption.  Is this correct?
Here is my config, if interested:
    aaa new-model
    aaa group server radius employee-clients
    server 10.255.255.250 auth-port 1645 acct-port 1646
    aaa authentication login console local
    aaa authentication login net-admin local
aaa authentication login eap_methods group employee-clients
    aaa authorization exec default local
    aaa session-id common
    dot11 ssid WLAN-Local
       vlan 20
       authentication open eap eap_methods
       authentication network-eap eap_methods
       authentication key-management wpa
    interface Dot11Radio0
    no ip address
    no ip route-cache
encryption vlan 20 mode ciphers aes-ccm
    broadcast-key vlan 1 change 300
    radius-server host 10.255.255.250 auth-port 1645 acct-port 1646 key <key>

All dot1x clients have a unique key but share a seperate broadcast key that is derived through the dot1x process. To rotate that key use this command ( broadcast-key vlan # change #) on the radio interface. . but the WPA cypher key which keeps on changing after some interval is to encrypt the data with different differnt keys so that it wil be difficult to be cracked/decrypt and not for reauthentication of clients.

  • Wpa2 key works on 1 out of 3 computers

hello. WRT54GC. 1 vista laptop with built in wifi and 2 desktops with USB wi-fi adapters, xp sp2. maybe 3.
went to IP address and entered router setup. changed to wpa2 and put in password. on the laptop, searched for new wi-fi connections, it found the router, entered the password and everything worked. On the desktops, searched for new wi-fi connections, found router. it asks for the wpa2 key and it doesnt accept it.  will not connect. i go back into router set up, make it an open connection, then i can connect with both desktops. any suggestions. thanks.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you cannot use WPA2 then use WPA instead. Do not use WEP. WEP is almost as good as no security. It is easily cracked.
On the router, select "WPA2 Mixed Mode" or "WPA2 Personal" and then choose AES+TKIP for encryption. (The exact way depends on your firmware on the router). Then enter a good passphrase.
On the computer select WPA-PSK and enter the same passphrase. See if you can connect now.
If not, select "WPA Personal" on the router with a good passphrase. Same settings on the computer. This should work now.
WPA is much better then WEP. Do not use WEP unless absolutely necessary. If you use WEP you have to enter the first key from the router on the computer. However, with WEP be prepared that someone may be able to hack into your network. Do not have any confidential private information on any computer connected to a wireless router protected only by WEP.

Please read my question carefully, this is, I think, a question for the experts. It's not the usual name change question.
When I setup my new MacBook Pro, something slipped by me and my computer was named First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro (using my real first and last name).
I changed the computer name in Preferences/Sharing to a new name and Preferences/Accounts to just be Mike. I can right click on my account name, choose advanced, and see that everything looks right.
However, If I do a scan of my network with my iPhone using the free version of IP Scanner, it lists my computer as First-Lasts-MacBook-Pro! And it lists the user as First-Last.
So even though another Mac just sees my new computer name, and my home folder is Mike, somewhere in the system the original setup with my full name is still stored. And it's available on a network scan. So my full name might show up at a coffee shop.
Can I fully change the name without doing a complete re-install of Lion and all my apps?

One thought... you said the iPhone displayed your computer's old name? I think that you must have used the iPhone with this computer before you changed the name. So no one else's iPhone should display your full name unless that iPhone had previously connected to your Mac. For example, I did this exact same change, and I use the Keynote Remote app to connect with my MacBook Pro. It would no longer link with my MacBook Pro under the old name, and I found that I had to unlink and then create a new link under the new name. So the answer to your question is, there is nothing you need to do on the Mac, but rather the phone, and no other phone will display your full name.

  • RE_RHTRANS0 usage for mass language key changes

    Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to use RE_RHTRANS0 for mass language key changes, i.e. to have it as a background job?
I tried to execute RHTRANS0 or RHTRANS0_NO_ALV in the background, but the translation record is not getting created. I think because report output requires an additional manual step to select a row and save. Is there a way to skip this step and automatically change language key for all records in the output?
    Thank you.
    Erika

    Hi,
Could you please tell more about your solution? I understand how is possible "to press" save button in batch input but how you can automatically fill all not-translated fields in target language with texts from source language?
    Thanks

  • How do I do a key change from one section to another?

My latest song is in the key of E minor but the prechorus is in C.  When I switch the key for the prechorus it switches it for the entire song.  Is there a way to have the key be specific to a section?

Lucky you, they just sort of fixed this kinda, if you're willing to do some gymnastics.  By using the new import feature they added the other day, you can export your intro in the key you want, create a second song in the new key, then import your export as a recording (purple clip) which has both the loss and benefit of not being able to adjust to tempo or key changes the way instruments (green clips) and loops (blue clips) can.

  • How to push a WPA2 key to 1600 MB Airs?

The school system I work with is trying to add the WPA2 key to the Macs without having to go to each computer and manually type it in. We've tried pushing the key with the Default Preferences in the Casper Suite, but so far we've been unsuccessful. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Smart guitar chord bug with key change??

I think there is a bug in the smart guitar chord selection when changing the song key.
    Could someone try this...
Song key set to C major.
Select smart guitar and strum the strings of the Em chord. Now hit the Em chord button to auto strum... sounds the same. So far so good.
Now change song key to C minor.
Do the same for the now Eb chord.. when strumming the strings it still sounds an Em. But notice hitting the chord button plays Eb.
Does anyone else hear this? (it's not only that chord that is wrong)

Thanks guys, I reported it to apple.
It's even more unpredictable though. It seems to me that on a key change the auto strum buttons play the correct chord (not being a musican I am not sure if this is even true, and now I certainly don't trust what it says).
It seems to me that it's the strings that don't get updated properly. Some do, some don't, some do after playing a different chord or playing the chord with the chord button.
Example, between the key of C major and C minor as. before you have a G and a Gm chord.
Play the chord and strum it in C major and it should sound the same.
Change to C minor and without playing any other note or chord, strum Gm... it's still playing G, wrong.
Now strum any other chord and then strum Gm again.,.Now it has suddenly corrected and does play Gm.
As a quick test I changed key to D (major or minor I can't remember) and practically every single strummed chord is wrong.
All I can say is Apples test procedures are woefully inadequate. This is an embarrassment.
