WPA2 security settings reverting to NO security

I just reset my Belkin wireless N router. After this reset, My WPA2 encryption reset to NO security setting. I logged into manage my network connections and reset the connection to WPA2. After I reset my MAC I go to double check if my WPA2 setting saved and it losts the connection as not having any security mechanism on my network. Now I have a slow network assuming other people are jumping on my network. How do I change my router back to WPA2? When I clicked on airport mode in the past I could see and "lock" next to my network. Now there in so lock, no matter how many times I go an manually attempt to reestablish my security setting. Any ideas?

Now there in so lock
There should be a lock in the Network System Preferences. Boot up from your install disc and run the Repair Disk option. If the lock does not reappear check your Belkin troubleshooting manual or Belkin's customer support website? You may need to download an update if applicable.

  • E71 - WPA2 security doesn't work with Netgear DG83...

I am unable to connect to wireless network running by Netgear DG834PN router under WPA/WPA2 security. My E61i connects perfectly however I get "No gateway reply" error with E71!

    Hi hadimassa...
Yeah, I'm not new to all this, so have looked at a while variety of options of router configuration, security configuration and handset configuration. Ive gone from g only, g&b, Auto108, variable channels, auto home page, no home page yadda yadda yadda.
I have tried all available WPA-PSK versions from WPA, WPA2 to WPA+WPA2. If there is any level of security above WEP then theres no action and the error returned from the handset is no gateway.
Ive editied IPv4 to fall into line manually, tired working with a proxy and its all the same result.
Basically when you start the browser, enter a webpage, the connection options pop up as normal, I select the router, the wifi icon comes on.. there is about a 5-10 second delay followed by an error tone and 'No Gateway' error message.
Turn off the security and there's lightening fast wifi. Very annoying.
If you have any ideas you think I might not have tried tho... Id be well happy to hear them
"No gateway reply"  indicates that you're in fact connected. Turn off the powersaving in the WLAN settings. Tools-> settings-> connection-> WLAN-> options-> advanced settings->yes-> powersaving-> off.

  • HP Wireless Printers cannot connect to WPA2-secured WiFi networks with Cisco/Meraki WAPs

In the last two months, I've had the displeasure of working with two very different HP printers and attempting to make them work on a WPA2-secured wireless network.  All attempts to authenticate fail with "invalid phassphrase".
I'm not the first person to encounter this, it's a problem with many different HP wireless printers (I just happen to have physical access to the OfficeJet Pro 8610 & Deskjet 3511).
My equipment is a Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall running ASA 9.1x & Cisco Aironet 1142 running IOS 15.3.x.
What does work on the WPA2/AES SSID:  Apple MacBook Air running OSX 10.10.2, Three Windows-Based laptops running Windows 8.1 Update 1, an iPhone 5s, Three Windows Phone 8.1 devices, Roku 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Sharp Aquos TV, Amazon Streaming Stick, and an Android Tablet (Jellybean).  Basically, everything.
What does not work on the WPA2 network:  OfficeJet Pro 8610 & Deskjet 3511.
To test the theory there is a problem with HP's implementation of WPA2 with regard to Cisco Aironet IOS, I built out a second SSID that only works in WPA/TKIP mode.  This solution works.  Both HP printers will join the WPA/TKIP network.
So, I'm able to demonstrate there is a certain connectivity issue.  When i look at AAA Debug on the WAP's console, I can observe the HPs attempt to authenticate "Bind I/F" on the WPA2 SSID, however they do not achieve authentication and do not pass the AAA phase.  However, on the WPA SSID, they bind and authenticate successfully.
To help illustrate this, here is my WAP running config.  It's about as simple as it can get.  There is no relevant MAC filtering or ACLs bound to any interface.  Noting that I have an ACL on remote access to the WAP (i.e. Locked down to SSH, disabling telnet).  The main point being that the ASA firewall is not a factor in this problem as the issue is at the WAP before WPA2 authentication can complete, therefore the printers never reach the network / when the printers connect to the WPA network, the operate fully & correctly.
If anyone at HP can indicate why this particular config is somehow improper or broken, that would be fantastic.  There should be no reason why Cisco / Meraki WAP owners have to lower wireless encryption standards just for a printer, be forced into wired, create separate SSIDs with lower encryption specifically for a device.

I get the same behavior with a laserjet m451nw. I need to enable tkip to get the printer working, it doesn't support pure aes-ccm (every other device here supports pure aes-ccm, even cheap ones), although it's advertised as working.

I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen.

  • Possible 10.6 Internet Solution with Airport using WPA2 Security.

Go to System Preferences, Network, Airport, Advanced, TCP/IP, Click on Renew DHCP Lease. This seems to work for WPA2 security in Airport utilities. Try this and let me know if this works for you?

I forgot to mention to disconnect your Airport for 30 seconds before you renew DHCP Lease. This seems to be working for me. This also seems to clear-up wireless printing problems with HP wireless printers.

  • Photosmart 2710 and WPA2 security question

I just bought a new router that uses WPA or WPA2 security.  All of my devices run much faster using the WPA2, but the Photomart 2710 printer dosen't seem to be able to work with WPA2.  Is there any way to upgrade the printer softare to use WPA2.  I use the wireless printing with my laptop much more than the desktop with a cable connection to the printer.  Going back to WPA security is not really an option because of the slower speed.  I'm afraid the answer is going to be no, but I have to check.  Thanks for any answers.

Wow it appears you are correct that this printer does not support WPA2-AES encryption.  Must be an older printer.  However since this has an Ethernet connection you can use the following to upgrade the wireless to use WPA2-AES.
Connect wireless printer anywhere, convert from wired, bypass failed radio, add WPA2 security.

  • WPA2 security ... do I have it?

I just configured a new AirPort Express 802.11n and for the life of me I can't tell if it accepted the WPA2 security setting. How do I check to see that it's in use without totally messing up the configuration?

    Mike,
Tesserax is truly awesome, isn't he!? He is my new best friend. Everytime I search the forum for answers, I end up seeing his name... your question about security was one I had too.
I went ahead and set my setting to the WPA2 Personal as well. I was wondering, have you noticed up in the top right hand of your monitor under the Airport (tornado) icon a lot of different networks (e.g. 2WIRE227, Hotta, Pascal, Lynksys, etc.) in addition to your own? I wonder if these are standard and we don't need to worry or if they should be deleted. Any thoughts?

  • SETTINGS REVERTING

    Hey all
So this is a weird one, has anyone every opened a project and the sequences within that project have reverted to DV-PAL from 10bit Uncompressed when it was saved?? This is a large file thats causing problems with crashing and the lot but Sequence Settings reverting?? Very weird and #$%&ing annoying. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know.
    Cheers Meke's
    Matt

Hi MB - don't know what's going on there and I haven't seen or heard of that particular trick from fcp, so it must be you !
No - what i'd do with something flaky like that is to trash my prefs first. See how it behaves afterward. I'd then try a reboot.
If it's still flaky then it may relate to the proj.
I'd start a new proj with the desired settings and drag everything from the old browser to the new one.
Close the old proj and try again from there.
edit: You have checked your different seq settings using the Seq menu>Settings ?

  • When I open a video which I have altered the AV settings on in another program, the settings revert to the initial settings.  Can I edit the color and brightness settings permanently in Quicktime 7?

I need to change the color and brightness for a video file for a presentation and cannot figure out how to change them permanently when I open the video file in Powerpoint.  Any suggestions?

The A/V Controls window settings revert when the window is closed.
You would need the "Pro" upgrade to QuickTime Player and then use the Export dialog / Filters button to make a new version of the file.

  • My settings revert, sometimes mid-project

There are certain aspects about the current version of inDesign that I absolutely detest:
1- Your color / stroke palette reverts to a black outline after you draw a shape and then use a different tool. You can never draw a box, adjust its location, and then draw another box with the same color specs without having to reset those color specs.
2- The eyedropper tool randomly decides to switch to the Color Scheme tool whenever it bloody well pleases. If I wanted to use the Color Scheme tool, I'd select it.
3- Despite setting my Preferences, I constantly have to go into that menu every time I open a new document because my preferences revert to unwanted settings.
I'd enjoy using inDesign so much more if these small, but tedious to mend, errors could be resolved.

    (1) Starting with your headline issue, "My settings revert," I'd first suggest a troubleshooting technique. Try restoring your InDesign preferences. This explains how:
Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences
You haven't mentioned what operating system you're using so that would help.
If you're using a recent version of Mac OS X, if you use the "delete files" method described in that article, you'll need to get to your <Home> Library folder which normally is hidden. In the Finder, hold down the Option key while choosing Go > Library to view it.
    (2) When you choose a new tool, and you're viewing the Fill and Stroke buttons on the Control panel, or bottom of tools, and when there is nothing selected, what you're viewing is the default Fill and Stroke attributes for your current file. You can change those in your current file when nothing is selected, and they will be changed. If you want to set a default for all new files, close all files and set the attributes.
    (3) There are other threads with complaints for the behavior of the Eyedropper and Color Theme tool. I'd agree with you that the shortcuts for these tools need to be improved.

  • WPA2 security with EAP-TLS user cert auth

I am investigating the use of EAP-TLS for authenticating clients through a MS NPS radius server for WLC WLAN using WPA-WPA2 for security with 802.1x for auth-key managment. We're trying to decide whether to use PEAP and AD account authentication or require client certificates issued by AD certifcate services. PEAP is working fine if we choose that auth method in our NPS radius network policy, but if we switch this to "smart card or other certificate" for client cert auth it does not work. The wireless profile on the Windows client is set up for WPA2/AES with "Microsoft: smart card or other certificate" for network auth.  The 802.1x settings specify "User Authentication" and a user cert for the logged in user from ADCS is installed on the machine. The failure to connect reports "The certificate required to connect to this network can't be found on your computer". When I switch to Computer Authentication the error changes to "Network authentication failed due to a problem with the user account," though a valid machine cert also exists on the computer.
When I attempt to use cert auth I see no auth requests logged on the RADIUS server. I ran MS netmon on both the client and NPS server and I also see no requests coming in from the WLC to NPS. When using PEAP I do see EAP requests and responses between NPS and the WLC and radius requests logged.  On the client end I do see an EAP request to the WAP when attempting cert auth, but no messages between the WLC and NPS.
It's also interesting that when I change the WLAN to use 802.1x and WEP encryption for layer 2 auth the cert auth  worked first time, though I haven't been able to get that working since. Windows now complains I am missing a cert for that. In any case, what I really want is WPA2/AES with 802.1x cert auth and would like to get this working.
Is anyone using EAP-TLS with MS NPS radius and a WLC successfully? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this or why I'm not seeing any traffic between WLC and NPS radius when attempting cert auth?

    Well Well
WLC or any AAA client acts in pass through mode after initialy generating EAP-identity request so it has nothing to with EAP type. AAA client will behave the same no matter if you use PEAP , EAP-TLS or LEAP .....
The error message that you have reported is clearly sayign that your client doesn't have certificate to submit agains the back-end authentication server and accordingly the process fails . If you are not saying anything sent from WLC to NPS , it makes sense , because when the WLC initialy generate eap-identity request your client fails to answer and accordingly nothing is being sent to NPS server.
In order to verify that we need ' debug client < mac address of the client > ' from the WLC while trying to connect to make sure that is the case.
Also make sure that your client has certificate that is binded to a user account defined on your AD in away or another to have it working.
Please make sure to rate correct answers

  • WVC54GCA Missing WPA/WPA2 security options in web interface

I just got a WVC54GCA and found out that there are some missing configuration options in the wireless settings:
    On the cameras web interface:
web interface > Basic : Wireless Settings > [ Edit Security Settings ] > Security Mode:
the dropdown gives me only two options: Disable and WEP, but no WPA, WPA2!
I upgraded to the latest firmware (1.1.00 build 02), but the problem remains.
Tried different browsers (Firefox 3.5, IE8) with the same result.
Is this a firmware bug?  A faulty device? Anyone else having the same issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try to clear the Browser settings of your IE and then try to login to the setup page of your Camera, and check if you are able to find that options.... If still unable to find WPA/WPA2 Option on your camera, Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your camera, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable....
Now check if you are able to find that options... If still not then i think it might be the problem with the Camera...  I think you need to replace your Camera.

  • How to set WPA and WPA2 security with multiple AEs

    Hi Everybody,
I have purchased a second AE and with the help of Alan Summers was able to set them all up for multiple speakers use in iTunes. In order to make them run I had to downgrade security settings to 40-bit WEP which is not really satisfying. My Airport Admin. Utility was still 4.0, so I tried 4.2 which offers the use of WPA and WPA2 with multiple AEs. Upgraded to 4.2 and switched off security settings first. Both AE are recogniced and speakers of second AE also show up in iTunes but I cannot connect to them. Since it didn't work without security settings, I didn't even try with it and went back using 4.0. All other firmware is up-to-date:
    AirPort Express 6.3
    iTunes 6.0.2
    Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection 9.0.3.0
Any advice would deeply be appreciated!
BTW - if it works, it's maybe the greatest sound experience I ever had. Music all over the place!!
    Best regards
    Roman

    Found it!!
    1) upgrade Airport Admin. Utility to 4.2
    2) set second AE as "remote base station" and not in "client mode" (that's the clue!!)
    3) follow instructions and type in MAC address of main base station
    4) choose a channel (doesn't matter which one, just has to be the same on both AEs)
    5) choose your personal WPA and WPA2 password (same on both AEs)
    6) restart both AEs
    7) enjoy the music all over the place!
    Best regards
    Roman

  • WPA2 Security and Recv Errors.

Copy of a post I posted a couple of hours ago in the Airport Extreme 802.11n forum. As the issue could be MBP related I thought I'd post here too. Any (relevant) suggestions most welcome. Thanks.
In the ongoing quest to try and find out as much as I can about what was causing my AEBS to crash I noticed while looking at the Network Utility Info tab (Utilities/Network Utility/Network Interface (en1) that there were a large number of recv errors and they were increasing as I watched. It was rather like watching a ticker.
I did a bit of research and noticed that some people related the issue to WPA so I did a test.
I stopped the AEBS. Network Utility Reported
    Sent Packets 5617335
    Send Errors 4
    Recv Packets 32254109
    Recv Errors 46323
    Collisions 0
I'd been watching the recv errors creep up.
I turned off security on the AEBS
    An hour later I had
    Sent Packets 5821527
    Send Errors 4
    Recv Packets 32860781
    Recv Errors 46323
    Collisions 0
So in an hour of hard use, no errors - they just stopped.
I then stopped the AEBS and turned WPA2 back on.
I got this about a minute or perhaps two after re-starting the router.
    Sent Packets 5823694
    Send Errors 4
    Recv Packets 32864168
    Recv Errors 46377
    Collisions 0
That was about 20 mins ago. Errors are now at 46728 sorry 46729, sorrry 46754, Sorry 46784
    You get the idea.
I wonder if anyone has any ideas? My concern is that it could be that the high error rate could be related to the AEBS crashes.
    Thanks for reading.
    Cheers.
    POST -http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1134458&tstart=0

    Thanks Ned.
I just tried on a new Core 2 2.4 which I happened to have lying around
Same thing. Errors when WPA 2 enabled, none when WPA 2 turned off. This is running n at 5ghz. Mind you, the errors on the new machine were in the hundreds and the errors on mine are in the thousands.
    At 10.18 I had 73820 errors
    At 10.44 I had 78662 errors
    At 10.55 I had 79263 errors - I turned off WPA2
    At 11.05 I have 79263 errors - ie none since I turned off WPA2
With the Santa rosa machine, I moved a 7gb file from my Airport Disk and got 300 errors with WPA2
Moved the same file again without WPA2 and got none.
I haven't tried 11g yet - only have so much time, but to be honest - and I understand you mean for diagnostic purposes - if they stop at 11g it doesn't help much as I need 11n or I would have stuck with the 54g Belkin I bought 3 years ago for $10. I'll try it a little later though out of deference.
If you get a chance, if you could take a look at your recv errors (assuming you use WPA2) I'd be very grateful.
    Cheers.
