WPC Migration to 7.3 - Navigation
Hi Everyone,
We are in the process of migrating WPC content originally created in version 7.0 to 7.3.
After connecting the Area to the Role I haven't been able to set the top level entry points correctly. I need to define the content below the Area as the role entry points. However when I open the connection and set the entry points in the workset it has no effect. Setting the root node of the workset has no effect either.
Only when I set the entry point at the role level it ha some effect so if I create a folder inside the role and insert the connection I will see the folder as entry point, the second level would be the area name and the content inside the area would appear as the detailed navigation.
Ideally I would like to define the content below the area as entry points having them appear at the TLN and then using sort priority and merge id combine the area content with the content defined at the role level.
Best regards,
Andrés Acero
Andres,
We had the same problem. Unfortunately there is no standard solution.
You cannot set an area as 1st level navigation.
You have to define an entry point in a role and the area is the 2nd level entry.

Migration Tool wipes out navigation menu
Hi,
I created a navigation menu in 12.1. But, later on, for some reason, I had to migrate just 1 folder from 11.5 to 12.1. And when I did that, I was surprised to see that the Navigation Menu was all wiped out, some 2 hours worth of work. Also, the migration tool never migrated over the Navigation Menu from 11.5, even on the first attempt.
Regards,
Chanti.Migration is moving structure and/or data from one type of database to another (e.g. SQL Server to Oracle).
What you want is the Database Diff tool, which can generate you the diferential scripts...

WPC / Short URLs / two Toplevel Navigations?!?
Hi there,
i have a question. I use the WPC to create websites in the Portal.. also our Portal Startsite.. wo what i want to do is to create a Short Article and put there some links in to other Portal Applications.
For example...
Our Startsite:
Welcome to our new Startsite..... etc...
Here you can find the New Application XYZ.. click here: XYZ
In the WPC i create a new LINK in the Article with the Short URL of the App.. looks like:
https://portal.host.com/irj/portal?navigationtarget=navurl://a789a49d67ecebe5c185c013bc67a916
So when i click now on the Startsite on this links.. the App opens.. BUT the problem is.. the link opens the complete Portal IN the Portal.. so then i see the Toplevel Navigation twice... ?!
How can i create a link on a website in the Portal so that the link opens the app in the Portal with only one Toplevelnavigation?!?
Regards
BjoernHi Bjoern,
If youu2019re using WPC Editor to create your links, you need to specify u201CTopMost Windowu201D as the target window.
To do this, click anywhere within your hyperlink, click the u2018Edit Hyperlinku2019 button on the WPC Editor toolbar, and select u2018TopMost Windowu2019 as your Target Window.
Hope this helps,

After Migrating from 10g to 11g Geeting problems with Guided navigations.
After Migrating from 10g to 11g Geeting problems with Guided navigations and section navigations not working.
And we are getting the following error <<odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW)>> where we have used navigations.
In 10G we have Guided navigation Reports to display the Reports links and intermediate reports for conditionally displaying the Dashboard section(Reports) but after migrating to 11g Guided navigation reports and conditional reports are not working..
We know that in 11g section navigation replaced with conditions and Guided navigation replaced with action link.. but
do we need to recreate those reports in actions and condition or is there any work around avoid reworking.Hi Both,
Thanks for the reply ...
For Guided navigation we are getting like below error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
For Conditional dashboard section we are getting like below error:
"saw.aViewsToRefresh = [];saw.aViewsToRefresh['d:dashboard~p:1egt6il5utl0uu8n~s:3jsmgfs3c1r4tn7c~n:condition'] = true;saw.aViewsToRefresh['d:dashboard~p:1egt6il5utl0uu8n~s:nos5q43jvjmi643b~n:condition'] = true;" -
We are setting up WPC in our portal. I have assigned End-User and Content Admin roles READ Permissions on several PCD Folders (The Custom Folder (holding custom iViews, Worksets, Layouts, Roles, etc. and The Portal Content->Web Page Composer Folder). However it seems the users need more permissions as:
End User:
Worksets and iViews are appearing correctly, however on the WPC pages none of the images can be seen only textual content and iViews.
Content Admin:
The User can access the Web Page Composer->Web Site Management but none of the icons are appearing (WPC icons for Sites, Pages, Navigation, etc.). Also when the user selects "Edit Page" the menus for the Editor are appearing as link lists instead of context menus (even the top menu is just a list of links).
Can anyone point me in the right direction for what permissions I am missing? I was trying to systematically add priviledges but these don't seem to appear unless I give them read permission on the Entire Portal Content Folder.Alright - after trial and error on each folder I found the problem. Everyone Group must be assigned none permissions on the Portal Users folder. Once done all images are showing up again.

Pages assigned to a Role along with wpc are missing
Hello Experts,
I have created a website and integrated with the Role. The website is being displayed succesfully. Now, theproblem is when I assign another Page to the role it's not visible? Any ideas on what's going wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
RNHi,
WPC pages are assigned to navigation points by external connector. This connector defines the sub-navigation. All other content added to the navigation point are not taken into account

Can't see EJB objects in Application Navigator after migration
Hello
I can't see any objects in Application Navigator after migration from previous version of JDeveloper (9.2.0.5), in System Navigator view I can see all sources. Has somebody any idea what the reason is?
TomIn the application navigator you should see one node per EJB, when you stand on it you'll see the various source files in the structure window.

Detail Navigation missing when i link a web page in the WPC Scenario
Hi to all.
I had publish WPC site with the External Connector method.
I have some Web Pages linked in the Navigation Structure, when i link one of this from a internal link (for example in a List link or other) I displayed the page and the detail navigation is visible and the focus on the destination page is light.
Well, when I try to link a Web Page that not is linked in the Navigation structure (open it in the same page) the Navigation structure is missing.
Why? How i can leave the NAvigation structure and display the page?
Many thanks for your help in advance.Hi,
this scenario is not supported by WPC. I think it was written somewhere (in a note or so). The problem is that if a page is not included in the navigation structure there is no navigation node associated. And so link to that page does not contain NavigationTarget therefore it does not trigger a real portal navigation but just displays the page in the iframe in which it has been fired. That means if you are using the standard framework page (i.e. with frames) page is shown in the inner most frame and the rest is untouched (side effect from which is that the TLN is not updated) and if you are using the light framework page after click the page is shown on the whole window as there are no iframes.
May be you would be able to work around this by selecting such page to be opened in pop up window. Other options exist but they are more complicated as solutions.
Hope that helps.

WPC on Portal 7.3: Area in top level navigation
Hi,
We are trying to set up a site using Web Page Composer on portal 7.3, but we are not able to display the area in the first level of the navigation.
Let's say we need following structure in the navigation:
Departments
-- HR
-- Trading & Supply
-- Finance
We want the content managers of our site to create extra departments without sending an area connection request to show the new department in the navigation.
Is it possible to create an Area Departments, link it to a role by creating a connection and use this connection as an entry point?
I've tried to edit the connection and mark "departments" as entry point, but it's not appearing in the top level navigation.
kr,
JoachimHi,
An area cannot be the first level of navigation. When you publish an area in WPC 2.0 it becomes a workset. Connecting the area to a role is similar to placing a workset under a role (the technicalities aren't the same, but that's the general idea).
Information regarding area connection can be found at:

Problem with WPC and Top Level Navigation
Hi all...
I have one problem. I'm using WPC and my role name is shown in Top Level Navigation (TLN).
For example:
Role name: Test
navigation nodes: company, About Us, Finnancial, News...
"Test" role is shown on TLN first level and the first level of navigation node is shown on TLN second level.
How can I remove the role name from TLN first level? I already changed the entry point parameter to "No" however this case the navigation node disappear from TLN.
tksPraveen,
How can I set the "No" Entry Point parameter to my navigation nodes??
In my role configuration I only changed the External Connector and Entry Point Parameters.
Where can I set up the No entry point parameter for my navigation nodes?

Quick Survey: WPC... WPC navigation or Traditional Navigation
Are you using WPC navigation (using the navigation.wpc files and external connector) or are you creating iviews and pages for each WPC page?
From what I can tell, the "traditional" way might provide statistics a bit easier, but maintenance would be much more difficult, with much more dependency on a company's IT department. Plus all stats are in one grouping. You don't have to combine Activity Reporting (iviews and Pages) with [KMC Activity Reporting |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/45/74eeda9ba26975e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm](the kmcActivity logs).
Conversely, navigation the navigation.wpc way puts more control into "content authors", but activity reporting is a little more complicated. [I am using the kmcActivity file, but I do not get some infomration that I would like. I have added additional parameters to the Main File Format property (such as users, folders, target urls to help trace where the wpc file is), etc... but none of these show up for WPC pages (but do show up for non WPC files).
Right now, our portal is heavily weighted with WPC content and "files", so the navigation.wpc way with activity reporting through the kmcActivity logs seems preferable.
Please share your opinions...No interest.

Migration of WPC content Netweaver 7.3
Hi all,
We have upgraded our sandbox portal to 7.3. We have quite a few WPC users and websites created. I understand from SAP Note 1371703 that WPC solutions are migrated accordingly during the system landscape upgrade.
Unfortunately, no WPC content has been migrated after the upgrade. Does anyone know what might be the issue for not migrating the content?

WPC navigation....
Hi ,
We are using WPC on NW 7.0 SP17 . We have four web pages in WPC and created navigation node for the 4 pages and published it . I am able to see the 4 links in the detailed navigation for the pages in my portal role . In my first page content i have link which points to second page. When i click the link it goes to the second page but i am not able to see the detailed navigation and i see second page without detailed navigation. Is it possible to show the second page with detailed navigation and second link in detailed navigation highlighted?.
Thanks,
VasuHi Vasudevan.
Try the following steps:
1. Republish a site navigation.
2. Repeat step 1 for parent site if you have it.
3. Open the first page for edit.
4. In a page design mode open a corresponding web form containing a link to the second page for edit.
5. In opened window with the web form just click Save and Close.
6. Publish the page and finish editing.
7. Check results in runtime.
Hope it helps. As for me this solution worked with a page containing a link list form to other web pages.

Nested site navigation using Web Page Composer (WPC)
Is it possible to nest navigation nodes using Web Page Composer?
I have created a WPC site and added pages, but I am required to create a node with sub-pages (similar to adding a folder to a workset) for a site.
Has anyone done this or know how to easily do this? I do not want to maintain a separate WPC site (and corresponding workset folder) for each navigation node/group in the structure hierarchy.
This is an example of what we are trying to accomplish in our navigation structure using a single WPC site:
* Page 1
* Page 2
+ Group 1
* Page 3
* Page 4
+ Group 2
* Page 5
* Page 6
* Page 7
Thanks in advance...
Points will be awarded for helpful answers.Hi Angie,
Could you please guide how to make the RSS link lists work in WPC, we do not receive any updates from external websites.
Thanks,
Shravs
