WPC - Restoring a Web Page Version

I have activated versioning on the Site Content and Web Pages level in WPC. I have published three versions of a web page and I wanted to restore the page to the first version.
When I click on "Versions" in the Editor, it displayed a list of versions and its corresponding "Restore" button. I click on "Click to View" of the 1st version, then click on "Restore".
After doing that, nothing happens. The Web Page remains on the latest version and restoring do not work. Even after clicking on "Finish", the page still remain on its active version.
Am I missing something on the config. level? or is there an additional step that I have to go through?
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Hi Soo,
If you activate versioning in the Web Pages folder, new Web pages in that folder are created with active versioning by default.
The setting in the Web Pages folder only applies to Web pages that you create after making the setting. It has no effect on existing Web pages.

Restoring open web pages from previous hard drive back up

I've had to replace a hard drive on a Mac computer running OSX. I had a large number of web pages open in Firefox on the previous drive, which I backed up completely before the new one was put in. I would like to restore these pages (similarly to the "restore previous session" function) perhaps using the Profile data from the application backed up on the previous drive.
Is there a data file or files that I can simply copy and paste over from the Firefox application contents on the previous hard drive which will allow me to to restore the session I had up before the hard drive was replaced when I start Firefox on the new computer? A solution to this would be much appreciated.

Restore previous wiki page version will not show the correct "Modified-by" field

I got the following:-
1. Enterprise-wiki site collection.
2. SharePoint server 2013f
now inside the Enterprise Wiki when a user view the "Page History" and then he chose to restore a previous version, the "Modified By" field for the restored page will be equal to the user who did the restore and not the actual use who
modified the version. for example i go the following faulty scenario:-
UserA create a new wiki page on 22/11/2014. the page version will be V 1.0
UserB modified the same wiki page on 24/11/2014. the page version will be V 2.0.
UserB go to Page>>Page History. and then chose to restore to V1.0.
The result will be that the restored page will have modified date = 22/11/2014 (which is correct). but the modified by field will be equal to UserB instead of UserA.
so the problem is that when a user chose to restore a previous version the ModifiedBY field will be equal to the user who did the restore and not the user who actual modified the previous version. so in my example the restored page ill have modified date
=22/11/2014 ,but the modified by = userB instead of userA .. can anyone advice if there is a way to fix ths problm ?

Hi,
By design, the Modified By field will be changed when you restore the versions of Documents in SharePoint 2013.
If you want to remain the previous Modified By field value, custom code would be required.

After hard drive crash, restoring my web pages. . .

I've read several discussions on this topic. I am really frustrated because I have followed what I was supposed to do. I found the files for my webpage on my iDisk and have put them in the folder in Library/Application Support/iWeb. I thought that once I did that I would be able to open iWeb and my web page would be back in its home. Well, nope. Am I doing something wrong?

Well, the pages on your iDisk are published pages, so they will open in Safari. iWeb cannot open pages that have already been published. It is NOT an html editor.
When you back up in future you need to back up the iWeb files themselves and not the published files, so backing up sites published to a folder is no good and will not work. You need the domain.sites file which is found in User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.
You will have to re-create the whole site again in iWeb if you want to make changes. You can copy and paste from the other files that you have to make the job easier.

Version 33 fails with some web pages.

With version 33 I cannot use some web pages (version 30 still works fine.)
Some examples:
Cannot order a pizza from Dominos.
Cannot use finance.yahoo.com echarts.
Cannot submit art to deviantart.com.
I prefer private mode. It fails. I've tried restarting with add-ons dissabled, still fails. Tried clearing cache, cookies and history to no avail.
Failure is with:

Mozilla Firefox for Linux Ubuntu -1.0, release 33
Success with Mozilla Firefox for Linux Ubuntu - 1.0, release 30.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

There might be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Hi Anja, yes i can index other files in other repositories and it worked well, at Display Queue Entries, i saw that the error is only indicated in output.xml into Site/Web Pages/name of web page / output.xml of WPC , will i need to configure other parameters for index?

I want to do something similar to "How to Configure the Last Ten Documents" but with wpc articles or web pages also i need that their links open in content area and not in new window , is it possible? i tried with tree preview layout set but it didn't work only with xml forms.

In the previous version i was able to close my mozilla and to open it again, the web pages which i was working with remained however i've tried many ways to have this advantage again but it is not working what can i do ???

in the previous Mozilla version i used to leave some web sites opened and when i start working again my Mozilla showed the web pages i was working with in that occasion, i have looked in the options menu but there is no way, perhaps it was an add-on and now it is removed??? i would like to have this advantage again in my Mozilla could it be possible?? thx!

Your webpages/tabs are still there. When you start firefox again, there is a "Restore Previous Session" icon below. If you click that, it will open up all your tabs again.

I have had this problem before and had to reinstall an earlier version of firefox.
The error console has a long list of errors, many of them end with: does not implement nsIObserver. Is there a way to send the information on the error console to firefox support?
Redownloading Firefox 4.0 will fix my problem until I either close firefox or turn off my computer. The problem recurs when I open firefox again.

Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well. 
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

Web Page Composer (WPC) – Web page - Approval process

We have requirement with our web publishing environment where we want to stage the web pages for review before they are published for public. Currently, if you develop a web page in Web Page Composer ( WPC ) and click publish to review the content/layout. The page is published for public and included in TRex and can be searchable.
We thought KM Approval process will help resolve this issue. The approval process work very well with the u2018Site Contentu2019 where once author develop the content (article, paragraph etc.) and submit for approval in this case Editor (role). The content under site content folder is not published (not available for public) until approved by Editor.
This same approval process does not work on the Web Page folder. We have exactly same permission/ Service permission setup on the Web Page folder. Even though the u2018Approvalu2019 is turned on the Web Page folder it does not inherit the same to new web pages created or existing web pages in that folder. If we go and turn on the u2018Approvalu2019 on a page then we see a u2018Approvalu2019 button in WPC but when you submit the page for approval it pops up another screen with below message.
Confirm that you want to publish the page. A new version of the homepage will be created and, if appropriate, submitted for approval. Changes to pages not subject to approval are active immediately.
When you confirm this message nothing happens (no workflow kicks off).
I would like to hear if any one has tried the approval process on WPC web pages. If you are not using this process how you are staging the web page for review before publishing to public.

We encountered the same problem couple days back in our environment. There is a SAP note (# 1294833) which details the issue but affected version indicated in this note is different then what we are on so we decided to create a note for SAP.

Unfortunately, as outlined in the note, there is no workaround

included in the next patch for KMC WEB PAGE COMPOSER 7.01 SP04.

WPC Web Pages Approval

Hi
     We currently have a working approval workflow for "Site Content Folder" ( Author -> Editor) but now we want to implement a similar concept in "Web Pages" Folder (Editor -> Admin) . We have same settings apart from the approval steps but nothing seems to work. When we click on a web page details box we cant see "submit for approval".
   After some web search i could find that some versions of WPC don't support Web Pages Approval.
   We are using the following version: KMC-WPC 7.01 SP8 (1000.7.01.8.1.20110131042600)
   1) Does this version support Web Pages Approval? If affirmative what can i be doing wrong ?
   Another Question related to Publish. Our editor role does not have permissions to Publish any web page , but he can still see the Publish button in the "Edit Page Toolbar". If he clicks this button the following exception appears:
com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentException: Error in service call of Resource
Component : com.sap.nw.wpc.designtime.Publisher
Component class : com.sap.nw.wpc.publisher.Publisher
caused by: com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentException: Cannot find JSP file: error.jsp
He does not really publish anything but he still have access to the button witch is probably causing this exception.
2) Is it possible to hide this Button from Editors? or i am missing a Error.JSP file that would tell the editor he does not have permissions to Publish.?

I believe you are right. But from what i can read about WPC 7.3( Not the version i am using) it is possible to approve Web Pages now am i right? Currently if i publish any page ( even if all the content is approved) it will just reset all the content Approval Status (i would have to send every content to approval again).
Still looking for a answer on the exception error.

Web Page Composer WPC and Portal iView - Show Tray

Does anyone know if it is possible to show the iview tray when dropping an iview into a WPC container?
I added the "portal page" as an allowed object to drop into a container, but WPC does not allow Portal Pages inside a WPC page.
I would like some kind of "title" on my iview to explain what it is showing.
One other option is to use a custom java iview that just has some text label above my content.

Some web pages come up blank, generally following a link, that have opened without issues in earlier FF versions. Pages open OK in IE8 and/or in Chrome. Have tried the cookies clearing etc as suggested elsewhere, without success.

I'm running FF 3.6.8. Certain websites (no apparent pattern, no secure sites) come up blank (white screen), showing "Done" on the footer. It generally happens when clicking on a link in another web page but no login or similar is involved to get to the intended site. Have cleared the cookies and followed the advice for a similar issue stated elsewhere on the Help forum, to no avail. Have also not added any add-ons since that recent FF upgrade.
The affected sites have come up without issues in earlier FF versions, and they do load in IE8 and in Chrome. A representative example is shown below. - Will appreciate any helpful comments and recommendations!

"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now" 
"Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies" 
 
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

I downloaded latest versionof Firefox from Mozilla web page, I rebooted my computer. The update did not take effect. How make late version active ?

My present version of Firfox is 3.5.15
My Op. System is Linux Fedora version 12.
Two days ago when I opened a file in a web search for Mercury Scientific Thermometers, the web page for NovaTech International-USA opened.
Centered in the middle of the page was a screen message reading
"Error: form not found." There's an X in the upper right corner of this small screen. There's an "OK" within the screen. Clicking on either of those optons does nto close the small screen. AND, clicking on any Menu
choice at the top of the main screen produces no action. File Edit View History Bookmarks tools Help are all unresponsive. The screen is
locked to the Cursor and Clicking any menu item. Tho' there are many choices on the Screen for various types of thermometers no choice responds to a click.
I closed down the computer. ThenI did a Cold Boot. There was no
change in the situation described above. The screen appeared again if
I chose to open Firefox.
I use 8 virutal screens. By which I mean I can have 8 screens open at a time. All 7 of my other available screens are perfectly active and perfectly normal in their behavior.
Rebooting changes nothing---the unwanted frozen/locked screen appears again if I attempt to open Firefox.
I opened the Firefox website. I soon found how to download the latest version of Firefox. But I used YUM to download it. Here is an excerpt of the Yum process:

I did a cold reboot of my computer.
In the Downloads Folder The Firefox update appeared.
But when I opened a Firefox page and clicked Help-About Firefox
the version of Firefox was still 3.5.15 AND the unwanted, Locked,
Frozen Novatech-International---USA Screen was still present and still
locked.
Please teach me the preferred way to Update Firefox and once the Updates have been downloaded, how do I activate those updates?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Access to WPC Web Pages by Anonymous Users?

Hello,
i want to give anonymous users access to Web Pages that were created with the Web Page Composer.
In did the following:
1. create the Web Pages,Site Navigation etc....
2. edited the permissions of the site: grant anonymous users Read Access.
3.included the site navigation into the navigation of the anoymous users
When i access the portal as anonymous users and try to open a Web Page, i get a logon screen for Authentification.
I think that there is a problem, that i didn't find any way to set the Authentification Scheme for these Web Pages to "Anonymous". This is the way it has to be done with other iViews.
When i am accessing the page with an authenticated users, i have no problem with displaying the same Web Pages.
Is there anywhere an attribute i need to set? Or is it currently not supported?

1. Configuration in PCD - go to Content Administration -> Portal Content-> Portal Content -> Web Page Composer -> Container iViews -> WPC
Default Containers. All of the iViews in this location should have the
"anonymous" authentication scheme. The next location which should be
checked is Content Administration -> Portal Content -> Portal Content ->Web Page Composer -> iView Templates. Again all of the iViews should
have the "anonymous" authentication scheme. The same applies to all the
templates which reside in Content Administration -> Portal Content ->
Portal Content -> Web Page Composer -> Page Layout Templates. Finally
check if all the pages which reside in Content Administration -> Portal
Content -> Portal Content -> Web Page Composer -> Page Layouts have the
"anonymous" authentication scheme.
2. Configuration in KM - make sure that all the pages, which should be
displayed to an anonymous user have in their permissions the Anonymous
Users Group.
3. Security zones - if you go to System Administration -> Permissions ->Security Zones -> com.sap.nw.wpc -> wpc -> no_safety and you open the
permissions of this object, the Anonymous Users group must be added in
the list.
If all mentioned objects have their setting as described and you still
experience problems (e.g. you see a browser dialog window for
authentication), the reason most probably is, that the KM is not
configured for anonymous access. A full description of the needed steps
is provided with note 837898.

Is there a way to view only desktop versions of web pages on the iPad?

Samsung galaxy a smaller actual mobile has the option to do this.. I've seen this question before and some people were wrong in saying that its up the programming discretion of the host website. It doesn't work for every site on my galaxy but it does for majority of pages I try it on. This tablet screen resolution and processor should allow any and every web page to be fine with viewing desktop versions and not limited mobile versions. This is why I try to tell my friends Apple is amazing but they aren't superior to all others. It's like being a sheltered kid who finished school and is working for his dads company (apple ) vs being out in the real world (windows)
I digress..
Is there an app I can download or some way I can program my iPad myself so it only opens desktop versions and gets flash player ? Also if anyone knows any websites where I can teach myself programming codes and mods that would really help also. Thanks
