WPC transports

after i transport WPC content, it does not work in the QA or the PRD system.
in qa no links are working and i cant open the files. also, i cant seem to change the order of the navigation nodes as that entry is not showing in the context menu.
i have to manually change the navigation.wpc component.
please help me to resolve this issue.

Please apply patch for the WPC component for SPS14 in your landscape. It should resolve your transport issues.

WPC Transport possible?

Hello,
i wondered if anyone has already tried to transport Web Pages that were created with WPC?
I tried it today and used the KM Transport functionality.
Transport was successful and no errors were mentioned.
But none of my pages work. No content is displayed.
I will try to find the error now. Let me know if you managed to do the transport and what problems occured and how you solved them.

I, too, have been able to transport everything except for pages.
According to Note 1079797:
Sites, web pages and compound web documents cannot be transported from one portal to another.
Comment: The transport of sites is planned to be released in an upcoming support package.
I have not noticed a problem transporting the actual site, but Pages yes.

WPC Transport Mechanism

We have currently 40 users to add content in the Web Page Composer (WPC) tool, but we are preparing for 100+ users when we start converting our existing Intranet content. We are interested in what your experience has been and what may be some lessons learned while using the WPC.
What kind of transport mechanism do you have in place (CTS u2013 manual or automated, ICE)? We would like to allow our users to push their content to PRD when they completed development and testing.
Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As from our experience. It is best to have content admin for the intranet sites to create there content in production. Make sure they are given permissions only to create and modify content on WPC sites.
Its just content in production. That means they dont break any thing else. Creating content in Dev and transporting is not advisable. Because users create content every now and then. and they want it to show up immediatetly. It not worth the time spending on transport to.
EG. If user changes one link. You have to actually transport in all system. Which is more easier to change in prod.
Just control the permissions for users and give content admin for that website.

I have question about WPC content transport. I have portal running on WPC SP 16 version and another with WPC SP 16 Patch 1.
Can I transport WPC content developed in Portal with WPC SP 16 to Portal with WPC SP 16 Patch 1.

Problem in transporting WPC Content

Hi,
I am facing problem in transporting WPC Content from server1 to server2. After transport the webpages are not displaying the contents. Webpages are showing empty layouts. I have done the layout configurations. Webpages are cotaining iViews and Html contents from KM . The webpages are not allowing to edit. Its very urgent.Help me to get through this.

Before you transfer the WPC content from one server to another, you need to be very careful about the settings and configurations. Did deply the WPC on the other server ? Did u do any custom page layouts in development server ? if yes, you need to do the same in production server as well. if not , it won't work.
I too had the same problem before. but ! after checking all these , I corrected them.

Transport wpc dev to qa

Another question for you experts in here!
I have never done an transport from dev to qa, so i want to know if i'm on the right track!
If i want to make a transport package of the web page composer, I will go to: System Administration --> Transport --> Transport Packages --> Export. Rightmouse on the Web Page Composer folder --> New --> New Transport Package. I fill everything in and once i'm finished i select the option "open the object for editing". Rightmouse on the Web page composer folder --> add all object to transport package (delete my own transport package). Export --> start export -> download export file. And import the (*.epa) file on QA.
After this i would export the KM content, because the WPC content is saved in KM? Content Administration --> KM Content --> export --> Pending exports --> Transport Package. I need to fill in name/GUID and the path to the webcontent (of wpc). Save --> Start Export. Archived Exports --> download (Archives) and import this (*.kmc) file.
Is this the way to transport? Is it nescesary to export dev users/groups to the qa system? How is this arranged with the security settings? Will these be taken in to account automatically? Are there other tips and tricks that i can use! sorry for my english.

What you are doing is definitely correct but I would like to add two more ways.
1. Creating the same folder structure and documents in your QA Server you can take the help of SAP Portal Drive.
2.You can also use the Web Dev URL and just do copy and paste of your documents.
Don't need be sorry about your english ..coz here we are more interested about the nuts & bolts of SAP rather than the english grammer.

How to transport the contents of the WPC web page ?

I've been trying to transport the WPC web pages from POC to DEV server.. The problem is that only the pages get transfered and not its contents..

As per your requirement this is the whole process where you can easily export or import the XML form .
Here is the whole description.
ICE Exporting // Importing method
Exporting Method
Content Admin->KM COntent->ICE ->Syndicator->Global Offer->Folder>Link--->Click on complete package and lastly download the file.
Importing Method
Content Managemet>Content Exchange->Left Navigation panel(Package Upload)--->Browse

Transporting WEBSITE developyed by WPC to Production server.

Unable to view WPC content

Hi. We have EP 7.0 SP18 with WPC SP18 P1 implemented. I have setup WPC on our PRD system - exactly the same as for QAS & DEV. I have transported the WPC websites from QAS to PRD. On PRD, if I have the Super Admin Role - I am able to see the content when browsing the site. However, when I logon with a normal user - I do not see any content when brosing the website(s). This does not happen on QAS & DEV.

Problem importing Transport package.

I am importing WPC web content (Transport package) (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/46/77da3bb8036ef0e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm ). Transport Package doesn't show up in pending imports after Package upload. I repeated the package upload. Still its not showing under "Pending Imports"
Anything else has to be done while importing a transport package (wpc web content).

I never had to enter object ID, when I was exporting. The only required property was the name of the package. I was following this document to export WPC Web Content http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/46/77da3bb8036ef0e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
When I exported, the file had a random name d03d399d-c6f6-2b10-12b1-c1a02f8f42c5.zip
Here is the summary of the logfile:

I am importing WPC web content (Transport package) (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/46/77da3bb8036ef0e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm ). Transport Package doesn't show up in pending imports after Package upload. I repeated the package upload. Still its not showing under "Pending Imports"
Anything else has to be done while importing a transport package (wpc web content).

Transport permissions

Is there any way to transport KM content with permissions? The KM content here refers to the WPC and all itu2019s related content along with the documents ( images, document libraries, etc).

You can use: ICE Protocol to transport: documents, folders and permissions. You can do delta o full transport.
1. System Administration->System Configuration->KM->CM->Repository Manager
->Advanced Options->Content Exchange Repository->ice repository->Advanced Options->Hide in Root Folder: unmark
2. Content Administration->KM Content->choose ice repository->Syndicator->Global Offer->using
context menu choose->Folder->new->Link (you have to create a link to the folder that you need to export, you can not mark a complete repository (it is not working).
3. After that, in Global Offer you have Complete Package link, click it. In this way you create a fullupdate.zip file
4. Once you have this zip file, you enter in destination portal and navigate to:
Content Management->Content Exchange->Package Upload-> and choose the file before created.

Custom Form Transport Render issues

I have transported a custom wpc form from our Development server to our testing server. After the transport all content items created with this custom form are displaying an error:
Cannot render container: An error occurred while loading the document from the resource content.
Testing is supposed to start today but obviously can't until this issue is fixed - could someone please point me in the right direction for fixing this error?

Transporting custom Web page composer page layout

Hello Experts-
I made a custom page layout for making pages via web page composer and configured all the KM settings. It works fine in Dev. Just want to know. What are the steps in transporting it.
I am sure, I have to layout template and the page. All the container iviews already exist int he system. SO, I guess I don't have to transport them. But, KM transport. What all are in need in config archive or kmc file if needed . PLease let me know.

In WPC following 3 type of transport required,
1) For PCD development
2) KM Development ( eg xml , xsl etc)
3) System configuration.

TREX WPC Help!!

I am having a problem with a index picking up the WPC content. I changed the hostname in the url generator, checked the properties, checked the trace logs... Still having problems. The index starts out with an idle status and then after about 1 minute goes to error and displays this error:
/wpccontent/Sites/Help Content/Web Pages/New Page/output.xml
Trex: Preparation failed: index operation
It is finding the content but wont index it. I haven't been able to find a fix for this error. Any suggestions?

We had this same WPC indexing issue on NW7 SP14 due to content being developed on one portal then moved via KM Transport with GUIDs to another portal. The wpc_wcm_trex_url property of the output.xml files associated with the Web Pages retained the full URL to the original server causing the indexing to fail on the new server. We upgraded to SP18 patch 3 and the wpc_wcm_trex_url property has now been reformatted as a relative url but every Web Page created prior to the upgrade had to be republished in the target environment for the property to reset. Once the wpc_wcm_trex_url properties are reset to relative URLs the TREX indexing works perfectly.
