Wps HP printer to air port extreme for imac and mac air

Just purchased a HP C310c p/c/s/p/web . it has wps protection. air port extreme has wpa. how do i proceed?

The AirPorts do not directly support WPS. Instead, you would need to configure your HP printer for either a WPA or WPA2 protected network depending on how you have already setup wireless security on your AirPort Extreme. You should be able to find a setting via the printer's control panel to allow you do so.

This is from a tester describing what happens on a Mac:
No the program does not launch properly on the Mac
    What happens is this.
    I open my applications folder
I open the App Folder and see another folder labeled Program V2.1
I open that folder and see the Program blue icon which click to launch
The folder disappears and the blue Program icon appears in my dock along side other applications looking ready for launching.
This is where the problem starts
If I click on the blue Program icon which is in my dock along side all of my other application icons they all drop off the screen. like the screen resolution changed suddenly or something,
The menu along the top of the screen also moves off the screen . in the same manner
so my desktop which usually has a visible dock at the bottom and a menu bar on the top now doesn't show either of those elements.
I do have a couple of document icons on my desktop , you know text files or what ever they never move
If I now click my mouse anywhere on the screen all of the icons return including the blue Program icon still sitting in by dock, if I click it again same sequence of actions.
I deleted and reinstalled the latest version of Adobe Air and got the same result
    I also want to mention
The top menu on the mac tells me what application is active, you know "finder" "Open office" "Firefox" what ever is program is running and active shows there
Program has never show up as being active in the top menu so I'm guessing never fully launched

iwork on iOS uses different file formats ( *.tef ) then iwork09 on Mac ( *.key , *. number , *.page ).
Uploaded documents to icloud.com must first be updated to the *.tef format and then re-written to the cloud system. The online service behind the iwork web-app does the re-conversion to Mac formats, pdf or Microsoft office. All that is happening "in the cloud", not on your Mac as he misses the engine to do the transcoding from the *.tef to the other formats. Mac simply does not know what *.tef is.

  • Using an iMac and mac air together for iPhoto editing and organisation

I want my iMac and macair to be synced for iPhoto purposes.
I followed this thread and have saved my iPhoto library from the iMac to an external drive.
I assume I can plug the drive into the macair and make changes.  Or is it intended that I copy the drive to the macair?
I am having difficulty understanding how the sync of changes on the macair will be reflected on the iMac?
    Veronica

One question, how does this affect syncing to iTunes?  Will it recognise the iPhoto drive on both computers (depending which one has the drive at that time) if I sync photo albums to my iPhone and iPad?
iTunes will always sync with the last iPhoto library that has been used on the computer. If you make sure, that the drive has been connected, before you launch iTunes, it will work, like Old Toad said.
Also, if I do it this way doesn't it become vulnerable due to not being connected at all times to time machine?
if you use the drive with the library the mainly on your iMac, you could exclude it from the TimeMachine backup of your Laptop. Keep it connected to the iMac, when you are not using it on the LapTop.
What would be the process if I only wanted to do this periodically and wanted to keep the main library on the iMac.  Could I work on the drive on the macair and then save it back to the iMac?  How do I do that without duplicating the files?  If I just select copy and paste, will it only overwrite the changed files?
You would have to copy the entire library back and forth again and again, or use iPhoto Library Manager, to merge the changes into the library on the iMac. It would not be an easy workflow.

  • Transferring files between iMac and Mac Air

My daughter gifted me a new but older Mac Air (mid 2011). I tried to transfer files from my existing iMac (2008) to Mac Air using migration assistant, but the connection never happens. What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you were attemting the transfer over a network.  Try creating a Time Machine backup (or updating the one you have) and use that with Migration Assistant.  It is faster and more reliable.  You need a Time Machine backup anyway so if you don’t have on this is the time to create one.  Create one (or more) for each machine.

  • Share aperture on my iMac and Mac Air

Can Aperture (and iPhoto, if possible) be used on my two computers?
I have all my photos on my iMac and have a Mac Air.
I would like to have them on both.
BTW, I will be buying a new iMac when they are available in a few weeks.
In case that is an issue in having an older model.
The current iMac is about 5 years old.

According to Aperture FAQ, you're fine as long as you don't use it on both your iMac and Macbook Pro at the same time, and if you are not a commercial enterprise or educational institution.

  • HT1338 Air Port Extreme not compatible with MacBook Air/iPhone?

I have an airport extreme that only works for older Macs.  It used to work with my iPhone, but has since stopped working for any iPhones and will not connect with my MacBook Air.  It does connect with an older model of the Mac Book.  What's up with this?

Ahh yes, that's not even a first generation.
It's possible it may have seen its day after all those years and heat.  However, you could try to factory reset it, just to make sure nothings messed up in the firmware, etc.
If that still doesn't work, maybe see if a diagnostic can be done at a genius bar.

  • Air Port in my Imac and Airport Express with my 360

    Hi all,
Not sure if Im being nieve but I am trying to set up a network between my Imac and an airport express, with the ulitmate goal of connecting my Xbox 360 to that network. My imac has an airport card and Ihave tried doing the WDS setup any help that any one can offer would be great.
    Thanks

    G'day Duane,
Just clarifying things here, is it still possible to connect a 360 (via MS' networking adaptor) to a wireless network created by an iMac's built-in airport? Currently I'm using a network encrypted by a WEP password which works all fine and dandy with my MacBook. On the 360, it recognises the network, allows me to enter the password and connects, only to tell me when testing the XBL connection that the wireless network is not connected. The same problem happened when I took off the security. Is there a way around this apart from connecting an ethernet cable to my MacBook/directly into the router?
    Cheers in advance,
    -Tom

  • Air Port Extreme Remote Administration?

Is it possible to administer the Air Port Extreme remotely?
My Linksys router has been doing OK lately, but have been noticing issues like speed latency.  I think this is true not only since another B or G Wifi device connected to the router causing the rest of the speeds to decrease, but also since I moved into a location that has many WiFi hotspots - specifically my condo complex.  My conclusion is buying a dual band wireless router which probablt has a larger WiFi range too.  I am debating on whether or not to buy the Apple Air Port Extreme Base Station or one of the top 3 Linksys E Seriers routers (E2500, E3200, E4200), since I have 2 iPads, an iMac, 2 iPhones, 2 Apple TVs, 2 Windows 7 laptops, 1 Windows XP desktop, XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and 2 WiFi enablesd Blue Ray Players.  I saw that I was able to access all of the devices with the Air Port Extreme Base Station - great!    Air Port Extreme Base Station works great with all of the Apple devices, stops latency slow WiFi speeds and can have a USB hub attached to allow for a printer, multiple HDs [Time Machine Backups, YAY], etc.  I am leaning towards the Air Port Extreme Base Station, but have two reservations:
    (1) WEB BROWSER: I cannot administer the Air Port Extreme Base Station via a web browser and am forced to install the software and
    (2) REMOTE ADMINISTRATION: I cannot make any changes to the Air Port Extreme Base Station remotely, say if I'm at work, forgot to open a few ports and NAT/PAT, to access my computer.
I would buy the Air Port Extreme Base Station if I can at least get through one of these two reservations.
    Please help.

<Yes, the newer AirPort Extremes running 7.4.1+ firmware, can be administered from a remote location ... of course, you would still require the AirPort Utility to do so.>
I am looking to set up remote access to my Airport Extreme that is running the latest firmware. Can you describe what I need to do to do so?  I do not have a static IP so will have to use something like DynDNS I assume. My needs are pretty simple. From time to time my Airport drops out (I'm guessing after a power outage) and while the Cablevision modem restarts, my Airlort is often left flashing orange. This would be fine except that this is all at a weekend house that is 90 miles away and I need the wifi to be working so that I can access my Nest thermostat as well as my Insteon system for remote light management.

  • Inability to Make use of Air Port Extreme

I'm a new Mac Book user who purchased an Air Port Extreme card side-by-side with my Mac Book in hopes that I would be able to use the card to extend my wireless range for the purposes of use at University.
I have had my Mac Book at home for 3 more days than the Air Port Extreme card, as it arrived via a different shipping company, and have thus far been loving the seamlesness of my internet connectivity. Today, the Air Port Extreme card arrived, and being inexperienced with computers as I am, I assumed there would be a place on the Mac Book itself to plug it in. However, discovering the fact that I was so obviously wrong, I did some exploration in the user manual and found out that if one ordered the card with their lap top, it was apparently installed. So, my first question is:
Do I have a physical use for this Air Port Extreme card with my Mac Book, or perhaps have I ordered it under the false assumption that I'd be able to use it with my Mac Book?
Furthermore, I went on to install the Air Port Extreme software packaged with the card on to the computer, and now have Air Port (Extreme) 4.2 on my laptop. However, when I attempt to use the set up client, I encounter the following:
"In order to use the AirPort Setup Assistant your AirPort card must be enabled and AirPort needs to be turned on and set to use DHCP. Click OK if you would like to change these settings, or Skip if you would like to configure AirPort Base Stations using ethernet."
Furthermore, when I click OK, the following comes up:
"There was an error communicating with your AirPort card. Please make sure it is installed properly and try the AirPort Setup Assistant again."
I went through the install and reset process, and it seems as if I'm being told I haven't done enough installation or set up to make use of the Air Port Extreme internet connection.
Can someone give some help as to how to circumvent this problem? Is there a physical use for the Air Port Extreme card I'm ignorantly missing? Somewhere to plug it in? Have I ordered it under a false assumption I could use it for my Mac Book? Or is it a matter of tweaking my network preferences?

Hello Eli Cyment. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
All of the new MacBooks come with an AirPort Extreme card built-in so, unfortunately, ordering the card was unnecessary.
Do I have a physical use for this Air Port Extreme card with my Mac Book, or perhaps have I ordered it under the false assumption that I'd be able to use it with my Mac Book?
    No, and Yes.
"In order to use the AirPort Setup Assistant your AirPort card must be enabled and AirPort needs to be turned on and set to use DHCP. Click OK if you would like to change these settings, or Skip if you would like to configure AirPort Base Stations using ethernet."
This is basically telling you that the AirPort Setup Assistant required that the AirPort card be enabled in order to use it to setup an AirPort base station. Do you currently have and are using an AirPort base station for your Internet access?
You should also have either the "AirPort Admin Utility" and/or the "AirPort Utility" (note the missing word "Admin") in your \Applications\Utilities folder. Which one(s) do you have?

  • Mac Power PC G5 with Air Port Extreme

    Hello,
At home I have installed, since many years, a Wi-Fi network using an Air Port Extreme Base station. This works fine with different computers. Now I have “recovered” an older Mac from my office, which works with a dual PowerPC G5 and OS 10.5.8. It seems that this machine is not able to work with a wireless network (no Air Port antenna). I would really appreciate to connect this machine to the Internet. Obviously one possibility is to draw several meters of Ethernet cable through the apartment … *Here is my question: is it possible to use Air Port Express for connecting my Mac with PowerPC G5 to my normal Wi-Fi network (and to Internet)? In other words: the PowerPC G5 is connected to the Air Port Express via a short Ethernet cable and has then access to my Wi-Fi network?* Thanks in advance and all the best for the New Year.
    Bernd

I have the same problem - but no solution either yet. Still looking.
    Apple airport extreme firmware 7.5
Vista x64 will connect to access point and receive IP address from server, but will not connect to the internet unless WPA2-AES security is disabled.
I get no response when pinging the gateway (10.0.1.1)
My XP machine will connect - no issues.
The vista laptop will connect to a friend's timecapsule firmware 7.4.2.... puzzling.
I hope someone has an clue to figure this out.

  • Can I use the new Air port extreme to scan, print, and share a hard drive?

I currently have a canon 3and1 pixma MP750 printer, and a lacie brick 250gb usb external drive. I'm looking into buying a airport extreme "n" base station and a apple tv to share all my music on my home theater. I'm also planning on updating my current system to an Imac 17" intel duo 2.18g. My question is will I be able to use the scan function on my printer with the air port extreme, or is there away to connect multiple computers to 1 printer? (ie emac directly to printer and airport extreme directly to printer via some product I may not know of) And do you for see any problems sharing the HD drive between the emac, a new imac and a windows based pc with xp operating system if connected throught the airport via usb hub to acomidate the printer as well as the HD?
Emac G4 1gig   Mac OS X (10.4.1)   Shopping for new mac

My question is will I be able to use the scan function on my printer with the air port extreme
Unfortunately, no. The new AirPort Extreme Base Station, like all other AirPort Base Stations, do not support the scan or copy features of "all-in-one" printers attached to their USB ports. This is primarily due to the fact that these features require two-way communications which the USB port does not support.
is there away to connect multiple computers to 1 printer?
Yes, if the printer is Ethernet-enabled, you can connect it to one of the AEBS's LAN ports...or use a Wireless Ethernet Bridge, like the Linksys WET54G to connect the printer wirelessly to the AEBS.
And do you for see any problems sharing the HD drive between the emac, a new imac and a windows based pc with xp operating system if connected throught the airport via usb hub to acomidate the printer as well as the HD?
No, the new AEBS should support this.

  • Help needed setting up IP Cameras for remote access using Air Port Extreme

Does anyone know how to access IP Cams remotely and open the ports on the Air Port Extreme using a PC? I have several iPhone Apps I can use but I cannot get the ports opened and on a PC it seems less intuitive than the MAC directions.

That manual page is not fully correct. There is written:
Public UDP Port(s): <enter the appropriate UDP port value(s)>
Public TCP Port(s): <enter the appropriate TCP port value(s)>
Private IP Address: <enter the reserved IP address of the host device (from step 1)>
Private UDP Port(s): <enter the same Public UDP Ports or your choice>
Private TCP Port(s): <enter the same Public TCP Ports or your choice>
    But it should be:
Public UDP Port(s): <enter unique UDP Ports of your choice>
Public TCP Port(s): <enter unique TCP Ports of your choice>
Private IP Address: <enter the reserved IP address of the host device (from step 1)>
Private UDP Port(s): <enter the UDP Ports used by your device>
Private TCP Port(s): <enter the TCP Ports used by your device>
Make sure you use the same ports in the private settings as you have defined in your IP camera. Normally a camera will use port 80 by default, so use 80 here.
The Public ports must all be unique. If you have not defined a port 80 here, you can also use 80. This will fail however when using multiple cameras. I for instance have 5 IP cameras and use the public ports 8451, 8452, 8453 etc.
