Wrap with toad

Hi all.
I just wraped a update file with toad 9.7.2.5. (utilities>wrap code)
but the result ".plb" file is not really wrapped.
I choose "open with" select notepad or any text editor and booom!! the code is readable..
what am I doing wrong?

I am a novice in database(SQL,PLSQL) programming and hence want to learn and practise very deeply in detail for which i want to install Oracle 10g client with Toad 9.1.So need your advise on the process.
(a)Do i need to download entire Oracle Enterprise Edition Installation for Vista? I have read in one of the forums that downloading only the Oracle Client is enough?

(b)I already have the TOAD 9.1 setup with me which i can install.But,i do not know that how will i use TOAD interface and connect to the oracle database.
(c)Also,any sample script/database with some tables that i can use for learning complex SQL query writing would be very helpful.In brief-any project that i can work on in building all the requirements by writing SQL which simulates real time scenarios of SQL development.

Thanks a lot for all your inputs.Its very useful and presently I am following the steps suggested.
I had another doubt with respect to this.While attending a oracle course,the instructor had told about an installation option of installing oracle 10g on Linux using VMware/virtual -i am sorry i am not sure about it.
So,can you please give your inputs about this process as I dont know about how to setup?
(a)What are the tools that i will need to build a virtual machine in my present computer with Linux as the OS?
And,what are the steps we need to do ?
(b)How do i use a vitual machine if i install it? I mean how will it work?
(c)Then,at last how do i install Oracle with Linux on that?

Oracle 11 can not connect with toad

Hello to all,
I just installed oracle 11 on my pc running vista. I can connect to the data base using sqlplus but not with Toad (version 8.6.1). I enter user and password and nothing happens. Not even an error message. I was using previously oracle 10g with toad and never had a problem.
Can anybody tell me how to make toad work with oracle 11?

Do you have the Toad Debugger? Thats the extra cost option which you get for free in OracleSqlDeveloper.
If you have the ToadDebugger, Read the Manual
If not , download OracleSqlDeveloper and use it. It's free, and written by Oracle.

11g: can connet using SQL*PLUS, not with TOAD

Hi
I run into a problem with TOAD. I can't connect with my 11g database using TOAD. I don't get any messages it just gives me a little waiticon for a split second and then nothing happens. I can however connect to my 10g database using TOAD. Using SQL*Plus I can connect to both.
I use TOAD 8.6. Do I need a newer version maybe??...

I can connect like:
hr/pw@xe
or
hr/pw@O11R1
or directly, no problem. I can connect from SQLplus to both databases any way I want

10g client with Toad - why bother?

I am doing several installations of 10g client yet to get access to the db the machines will use Toad. What does the "light" client contain? Must every machine actually have the client installed? To access the db with Toad / SQL*Plus - what does the client contain that makes it necessary to install beforehand?

Some application use JDBC connection instead of native Oracle SQLNet connection. In that case, Oracle client installation is not required.
Some tools support both types of connection for example SQL Developer,

As an SQL Connect URL string, of the form: //host:[port][service name]
As an Oracle Net keyword-value pair. For example:

(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=bjava21)))
As an entry in the tnsnames.ora file.
So you don't have to configure tnsnames using netca in this case.

Free oracle client with Toad?

Hi,
I have licensed vesion of Toad available. Do I need to purchase oracle client - or is there a free version of oracle client that can work with toad without any cost? My database is Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Solaris 10. I read about instant client but I don't know if that can work with toad and I have no experience on it.

Licensing questions should really be directed to whoever deals with Oracle licensing in your organization or to your Oracle Sales rep. The answer may depend on a variety of factors including the country you are in, when you purchased licenses from Oracle, what sort of licensing agreement you have, special stipulations that were negotiated in your licensing agreement, etc. If there is an audit, explaining that you relied on some random guy on the internet with a playing card logo next to his name for legal advice is a career limiting maneuver.
In general, Oracle does not license client machines. The database is licensed either by the number of users allowed to connect (not simultaneous users or Oracle database users but the number of human beings that are allowed to connect to the database via some application) or by the number of processors in the database server. So you generally don't need to license anything to install the Oracle client assuming that you as a human are licensed to connect to the database.

Editing CLOBs with TOAD?

Since I typically only encounter CLOBs in the MapViewer world, at least CLOBs that I'd want to edit, I thought I ask a basic how-to question here.
I use Toad 8.5 and need to make changes to a theme's STYLING_RULES - for example, adding caching="NONE" - When I tried this using Toad I corrupted the data. I used Toad's Text Editor - so I guess that was the problem. I know a CLOB entry is a reference.
So, how can this be done with Toad?

Text wrap with EPS graphic files

I'm using ID CS3 v5 with Mac OS Leopard 10.5.6.
I am trying to use the TEXTWRAP panel with an EPS graphic that has been imported into the text.
When I select the graphic and go to the text wrap panel none of the options are available to me - if I hover the cursor over any of the 5 options it changes to a NO ENTRY sign.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I too am trying to get various InLine (graphic) objects…
-- to flow with text (got it!), AND
-- have surrounding text wrap around them as they move (no luck so far).
It seems like this should be easy, but I too have failed to be able to figure it out.
I do know that objects that are NOT inline can easily have text flow around them, but I'm sure hoping that InLine objects can too.
Can anyone tell me (us) if InDesign can do what I'm/we're asking, and if so, HOW?
I'm using ID CS4 on a G5 iMac running Tiger.

well, it's more of a behavior, for lack of a better word, of the component's width (rather than a documented property) You won't find it in the class definition. So, you just need to set the width. In your code, you originally had;

you just need to set the width for that component, something like <mx:Text id="t" width="100%" . . . /> just as you did with the others. As soon as I set a width on it, it wrapped.
* note, after setting the width, be sure to 'refresh' your design view to update your changes.

Word Wrap with a Vertical Grid

I've got a vertical grid with my headers in the left column and descriptive text in the column immediately to the right. I'd like to have the descriptive text word wrap but checking the word wrap box on the layout tab doesn't seem to have any effect.
Any ideas? I'm using 11.5 SP3

I'm not sure if it will work with the iGrid in a vertical orientation, but have you tried setting the RowHeight to something like 20 or 30 instead of the default of 0? This setting will auto adjust the grid lines based upon the font-size, but you may need to force it to a certain height in order for the wrapping to work.

Wrap with layers

hello,
i amy be asking a simple question but...
i have assambled a panorama with 10 images, all with layers and masks.
at this point i would like to select the entire panorama and "wrap" it with the transfome tool.
of course i don't want to flatten the images in order to do this. i would like to keep my layers.
and another question, can i wrap in a smaller grid?
like when i use this command of wrap PS provides a grid which is divided into 9, and i can move within these lines,
is there any way to make a tighter grid in the wrap command?

The Wrap grid is what it is.
Alternatives include Puppet Warp or the Filter »Displace«.

How can I get the selected row's index of a Jlist wrapped with JScrollpane?

the problem is that I can use getSelectedIndex() only if the JList is not wrapped in a JScrollPane.
but in my program the JList IS wrapped in a JScrollPane.
when I select one item of the jscrollpane I can't catch the event.

What difference does it make if the list is inside a scroll pane or not? If you have a member varialbe that references the list you can call getSelectedIndex when ever you need.
    myList = new JList (...)
    someComponent.add (new JScrollPane (myList));
    // Then later
    int sel = myList.getSelectedIndex ();And you can always be up on any selection chagnes in the list by supplying it with a ListSelecitonListener.

Oracle Apps R12.1.1 is not working properly with Toad

Q) When I Connect Oracel Application R12.1.1 database through Toad is not showing object
definication like Procedures, function and Trigers defination in Toad. But it is working
fine with R12.0.4.

What account are you connecting as ? You can easily determine what privileges this account has in 12.1.1 as compared to 12.0.4 to see if there are any differences. Can you replicate the issue with SQLDeveloper ?

Line wrapping with s:TextInput /

With the Beta 2 SDK, line wrapping was allowed for s:TextInput if they skin was modified to put the lineBreak="toFit" style on the textDisplay component. This does not seem to work with the final release of the Flex 4 SDK as the text continues to flow past the right-most edge of the input box.
Is there a work around available?

Why not just use a s:TextArea if you want multiline input? Word wrapping on s:TextInput isn't really supported, so I dont know how well it will work, but I came up with two workarounds (with the help of a coworker), which may help you get started:
I think the main problem is that the partAdded() method in the TextInput.as class is clobbering whatever values you're setting in the skin:

You can work around this by using the creationComplete event in the s:TextInput control to reset those values to whatever you want:
