WRE 54G Vissible but can't connect
I have a WRE54G range extender connected to a WRT54G Wireless router. Others are able to connect to the extender and get through to the network with no problem. I can connect to the router, when in range and get to the network with no problems. When out of range of the Router I can see the RE in my wireless network list, but when I try to connect to it it tells me "Windows is unable to connect to the selected notebook. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks and try again." When I refresh the network I still see the RE, but still can not connect. The RE is set to mixed mode on channel 6 with WEP encryption that I have the key for. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

What is the error you get? Try changing wireless channel of router. Try updating drivers of wireless adapter on computer.

I have a new ipad and everything works but can't connect to the app store. Itunes works and the wifi seems to be working but i get a blank white screen when i open the appstore. I am using Windows XP Professional 2002 w/ SP3 on a Dell Latitude E4300 laptop wirelessly connecting to my Airport Express 802.11n (firmware 7.5.2).
I can see my Airport Express in iTunes 10.4.1 and can select it via the Airplay button. iTunes even detects whether or not a speaker is connected to the Airport Express. But when iTunes tries to connect, it comes back after a while saying "An error occurred while connecting to the Airplay device xxx. An unknown error occurred (error -15000)."
A similar problem happens with Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba that I use to stream music from other apps such as VideoLAN to Airport Express on the same laptop. I can see that my Airport Express is available but when Airfoil tries to connect, it comes back saying "It appears that a firewall on this computer is preventing Airfoil from connecting to xxx Airport Express. Please check your firewall settings and try again."
I've set both Airplay and iTunes as exception programs in my Windows Firewall setting, and even added TCP ports 5000 to 5005 and UDP ports 6000 to 6005 to the exceptions as recommended by Airfoil. I've also disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection that Ihave installed. The only thing I can't disable is McAfee Endpoint Encryption, since I also use the laptop at work and I don't have permission to disableMcAfee. I use this laptop to connect wirelessly with other devices such as HP wireless printers, NAS drives and other laptops on my home network and have never had any issues, so i think that this issue is specific to the Airplay software being blocked by some firewall (I am assuming Airfoil also uses Airplay).
I've tried this on different wireless networks and I have the same issue with Windows XP on my Dell Latitude E4300. I've also set up the network with no security, but the problem doesn't go away.
I also tried downgrading iTunes to 10.3.1 but won't work. I think it's an Airplay issue, not a specific iTunes issue, since I'm facing the problem with Airfoil as well.
How do I trace what is going on that is preventing iTunes and Airfoil from streaming to the AirportExpress within Windows XP?
I also have another Dell Inspiron laptop on the same network running on Windows Vista, and have no problems streaming music from iTunes or Airfoil to the Airport Express on the same network, even when the network is WPA-2 Personal (TKIP+AES) protected (I've seen other postings where WPA has been an issue, WEP has not, but in my case, this is not an issue). Ditto with my iPad2.
Thanks for your help!I have the same problem with Windows 7 64bit. ITune can see AE and stream Music well. Airfoil, TuneBlade (airplay soft) can also see AE but can't connect and stream music. I ' ve already tried to setup firewall Exception list, even turning off firewall off both windows and antivirus but still got the same problem with the message 'Airfoil was unable to connect to the remote speaker " ... 's Airport Express". Please check the firewall on the computer where " ...'s Airport Express" is running and try again'. Any help would be appreciated !.

Restart your internet modem and router and your Mac then try Safari etc.
If that doesn't help, try this DNS server ..
Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
Click + and type:
208.67.222.222
Click + again and do the same.
208.67.220.220
Click OK.
Try a browser.
if that doesn't help, check the firewall. System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options -

The cheapest Mac available new is a Mac Mini. It is no bigger than many an external hard drive. But the screen and keyboard and mouse must be purchased separately. They support USB and Bluetooth keyboards and mice, and pretty much any DVI, HDMI, or displayport display. Although the iMac is certainly an attractive option if all you want to deal with is deciding on a printer. I still recommend getting an Apple USB keyboard for the occasional times you may need to troubleshoot startup issues. Normally not a problem, but as it gets older some issues can be fixed at startup or diagnosed at startup. -

AE is green and seen but can't connect PPPoE
My ae light is green, the network sees it but can't connect to the net. The isp is fine if i plug the wire into the machine, it works. The settings for the airport are identical to the wired. i've downgraded from 6.2 to 6.11 but still no connection. the problem seems to be that the airport express either can't sync or won't connect to the isp. I've also tried powering off the ae and modem in different orders powering on each one in order with the computer last to no avail. i'm running 10.4.2. help pleez

Firmware version 6.2 has well-known problems with ISPs that require use of the PPPoE protocol, and downgrading to firmware version 6.1.1 is what solved the problem for you. Firmware version 6.2 is no longer available from Apple's web site, but many people got it previously as part of the Airport 4.2 update where it lurks as a time bomb waiting for people to finally give in to the Airport configuration utility's request to upload that update to their Airport Express. -

What type of encryption are you using with your wireless network -WEP or WPA?
If your wireless router supports both which it should unless it is quite old and you are using WEP, try switching to WPA which is much more secure than WEP which is important if you have a Windows PC or any Windows based device connected to your network.
In addition, when was the last time you checked Netgear's website to see if there is a firmware update available for your wireless router model that you haven't installed? -
I have an iMac running OS X 10.8.3 and have connected an Epson Workforce 2540 printed that is allegedly Airprint enabled. I can connect and print with a USB cable but can't connect via Airprint. My colleague running 10.7 can. Is this a feature of 10.8? Any ideas for a fix?
iOS devices use AirPrint to connect to a supported printer. OS X will use Bonjour to locate and connect to the same printer.
With the Epson connected to your wireless router, when you open Print & Scan and click the plus button to add, does the Epson appear in a small box with a heading of Nearby Printers?
If not and a window appears showing Default, Fax, IP and Windows in the toolbar, do you see the Epson with the Default view selected? -
I'm from the USA but am on vacation in Brazil; I have a great WiFi connection but can not connect to the iTunes Store. Is this because I am out of the Country?

Just got a new Airport Express to replace an old one that dropped off all the time. The new one works with various Apple and Android devices but will not connect to Wen 8 computer. The computer sees the network but can't connect.

Well it looks like you're not having any luck at all with this AX set up but please don't give on it just yet, it's a good choice for extending your Network. Your on the right path, just going backwards and in the wrong direction. You'll learn a lot about stuff this way but may lead to other issues.
Before I continue, let me know if you have returned the AX or still need help. HT4199 Problem Syncing with Itunes wirelessly but can still connect to wi-fi.
I can access wi-fi from my Iphone 4s and the internet but can't connect to itunes wirelessly to sync the phone. Was working fine and then just stoppped. Can stilll sync when plugged in but can't use certain apps that require wireless syncing only.
First connect your iPhone to your computer, click on iPhone than check mark "Sync using Wi-Fi. There your problem is fixed. Make sure your computer and iPhone is connected to the same network.

I can use my time capsule for wifi, but can't connect for backup
I have been using my TC for a couple of years now, always as a router and backup disk. I went on a long trip then came back and tried to connect to it, I can use the wifi, but I can't connect to the disk to see it or use it for backups. I also have a PC connected to the TC and I can see the contents on there through explorer.
Any ideas would be appreciated...how do I get the Mac addresses for each device (this won't be a problem, I demand the device, check it, and then return it).
What wireless devices are we looking at here?
Most devices have the AirPort ID or MAC Address or Hardware Address printed on the back or bottom of the device
Otherwise, you can learn the correct number by process of elimination. Turn off all wireless devices except your Mac computer....if it is connecting using wireless.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Look for Wireless Clients and click on the numerical IP address that is displayed
Another box will open
Look for the Hardware Address. It will be displayed as xx : xx : xx : xx :xx : xx
Write that down and note that it is your Mac.
Now, connect another wireless device and repeat the sequence. Click on the "other" listing that you see to find out more info about that device. Write down the ID or Address and note what device it is. Then power it off.
Do the same for each wireless device that you want to have limited access.
Post back when you have all the info.
