I just saw a message that iWeb has been discontinued by Apple.  It suggested changing to EverWeb.  Has anyone used this or do you have another recommendation?

    Hi
I have now used Everweb to transfer a website from iWeb & am now working on transferring a second website.
I cannot recommend Everweb highly enough. I am an amateur, so iWeb was the easy option for me. Everweb is just as easy to use and very similar to iWeb. New features are being added every few days.
I am extremely impressed by the excellent and prompt service from both the forum and support. All my questions have been answered (& there have been many of them!)
Everweb is complimented by an excellent site Everweb codebox which has developed more widgets and codes to add to Everweb. Roddy from Everweb codebox has been invaluable by answering questions on the forum & generally complimenting the Everweb team.
I have purchased the Everweb program & Hosting. This gives my 1 click updating and works seamlessly. The price is competitive and the support exemplary.
All in all, I am delighted with Everweb, excellent program & excellent support!! I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone.
In answer to your question...buy it!!!!
    Lynn

I am not certain, but I believe there is a version of Dazzle for the Mac. However, it is not the route I would chose.
You really need a proper analogue to digital converter, like the ADVC110, to connect to your camera via the usual RCA cables, and to your Mac via firewire.

  • - it doesnt want to drag? Has anyone used this software with imovie?

I am trying to transfer vhs movies to my harddrive using videglide  I have successfully recorded it and saved it onto my desktop but I cant seem to transfer the movie to iphoto for editing - it doesnt want to drag? Has anyone used this software with imovie?

I presume you mean Videoglide - which I had never heard of.
    Having read the specs:
    http://www.echofx.com/videoglide.html
I am wondering how it manages to digitise analogue video from a VCR. For that I use an analogue to digital converter that imports straight into iMovie via firewire.
You should contact the developers of Videoglide for instructions on how to use it.

  • Has anyone received advertising for software called "Mackeeper".  Does anyone know if this is supported by Mac, and has anyone used this software?

Has anyone reveived advertising for software called "Mackeeper".  Does anyone know if this software is supported by Mac, and has anyone used this software?

Thanks Kappy, I let it do the scan and when it stopped halfway through and demanded registration I stopped and deleted it.  I still have the icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen and don't know how to remove it.  If this is not possible I can live with it.  I am new to Mac and have trouble divorcing myself from my old PC habits!

  • Has anyone used this 3000mAh battery case?

    Hey guys, check this out.
I love my iPhone4 and compared with other phones Apple did a great job with battery life, but I'm a traveler and sometimes I take long runs without getting a chance to charge the phone. Looking into buying this battery case here: http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/apple/iphone-4/mugen-power-3000mah-battery- case-for-apple-iphone4.html
Has anyone dealt with these guys before? I asked them questions on their Facebook, they seem legit.

    They have a 1500mAh case as well for 79$ http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/mugen-power-1500mah-battery-case-for-apple- iphone4-brown.html
The reason I want to go with Mugen is that they are present as a brand. I'm a little picky and if I get a bad case I'd want a replacement. In that case I can ask them on facebook about it or write to support.
Can you let me know any other case makers? I don't want to buy from ebay

  • There is a program unfortunately just called "Cookie" (so I can't be successful doing a search here) that is supposed to help protect our private information that resides on our computers.  Has anyone used this and is it worth buying?

Unfortunately this discussion forum has changed and become confusing indeed.  It wanted me to put my entire question in a Subject box which wasn't labeled as such, and I find this strange.  Especially since now it tells me to repeat my question in this box, so here goes.
Has anyone here used a program called 'Cookie' that is supposed to protect our private information from sites which could retrieve it when we surf the Net.  If so, do you consider the program worth buying?

If you are referring to Cookie from SweetP Productions, I have tried it and not found it to work reliably, so I cannot recommend it. I've had the best results with the same company's free Safari Cookies, though it's not perfect (none of the cookie managers are, unfortunately):

  • Captivate_DoExternalInterface - Has anyone used this JavaScript function?

I noticed in the SCORM_utilities.js file there was a function named:
    function Captivate_DoExternalInterface() {
Has anyone tried to use this JavaScript function from inside a course, such as to update the value for the current "bookmark" of where the student is in the course?

Yes, I've seen various posts over the years with folks who use that to make specific LMS calls.
    It can be done...
Here for example, though a bit old:
    Google Groups
Search the web for that function and I'm sure you'll find at least a few examples...

Re: CS4 missing features and functions
The problem is caused by a bug in the handling of US and GB language files either in InDesign CS4 or its installation program.
You can "force repair" this by using a macro I made: www.e-fastems.com/cs4_indesign_repair_missing_help_and_shortcuts.zip
In the last step, you need to choose the default shortcut set of your area. E.g. For me it was [Default Finnish]
I'm not sure if there are more similar problems in CS4. But in my company, we were able to fix the problem in InDesign CS4 using this macro.
    --end--

OK, that's a zip archive that contains a simple DOS script that does the file operations that are described at How I fixed the missing shortcuts in InDesign CS4 which is where you found the post.
To run it you need to first unzip the file, then double click the .cmd file. It's designed to work with a program being installed in C:\Program files, so if you have a different path, you'll need to do some editing. You should be able to open the .cmd file in Notepad to do that.
I strongly recommend you create a resore point, at the very least, before running the file, and a real backup would be prudent.

  • Has anyone used this cool WebCam with a Mac yet?

i'm in the market for a webcam for my new mac pro. i'm looking for the very best one out there. i ran into this WebCam called "aGent V4 HD". It looks awesome! Its a 3MP HD WebCam that comes with a desk mount and LCD mount. But its sold out of Australia. I was wondering if anyone has used it with osx 10.5.6.
    here's a link:
    http://agent.liquiddigital.com.au/index.htm

I've just taken delivery of one of these and have to say that, a few glitches aside, I'm pretty impressed. It looks quite sexy and gives a great quality picture that has been commented on by all Skype correspondents who hitherto were used to my looking like a bowl of porridge.
It comes with 3 useful mounting devices including a great grappling hook looking thing which will hang on top of my 30" cinema display but I actually prefer to have it on the floor stand at head height otherwise the angle is a bit high from all the way up there.
The only disappointment for me is that I cannot seem to get the internal mic working. Fortunately it does come with a clip on mic which does work when plugged in via the USB gizmo but the built in cam mic just won't play for me.
I wonder if I'm missing something because I have an older webcam with a built in mic which again I have never had any joy with.
Any useful suggestions in this point gratefully received!

  • Has anyone used this RAM in there Mac??

    Greetings
have just found some RAM that is Mac compatible
Corsair 1Gb DDR2-667 SoDimm for Apple Mac
and am wondering if anyone is/has used it?? Being Corsair I understand this ram to be of very very good quality but have only ever been using Kingston RAM as recommended from Renaissance (New Zealand Supplier for Apple).
Your thoughts and answer will be much appreciated
    Thanks

Yes I added the same 1GB Corsair back in May 2006 to the stock 512MB. Replace the 512MB with the 1GB then put the 512MB in the other slot. Slide them in untill you feel then stop, then give them a hard shove to seat them into there slots. After you have seated both modules close the ejector clips and replace the cover.

That extra 1GB will make a big difference, you'll love it.

  • Has anyone used this with Mavericks?

I have a Late 2013 iMac and was interested in this but not sure about other peoples use of it,
Mediasonic HF2-SU3S2 ProBox 4 Bay Hard Drive Enclosure with USB 3.0 & eSATA
Any input would be welcome. Thanks.

I posted on their forum also and see what members their say. I also asked the question on Amazon from previous buyers. There unit is a very reasonable price and does what I need, But I am not willing to take a chance with the disconnect problems some people are having. I had loads of problems with my four SATA 3 drives in external cases and hubs that were 3.0 USB. So far two hubs were on the shelf and a third plugable 7 port works fine.

  • HT1198 Has anyone used this method of sharing an iPhoto library? Does it work when the library is stored on a OS X Server?

We have a Mac Mini Server for our small office running OS X Lion. Currently, we store our company photos in a folder on the shared drive of our server.
Some of our employees would like to use iPhoto to manage / edit photos, but there is no way (that I know of) to share a single iPhoto library among different machines.  I read the knowlege base articel HT1198, but I don't bellieve that it is a solution for our setup.
    Any guidance or input?

Give  Media Pro 1 a look.  You can keep the source files on a server and each user can have their own catalog file of those photos that will give them their own "library" of those photos.
However, when editing a photo it will edit the source photo and that will affect all users so be sure to have backups. You probably can set the source files to be read only if you don't want every one to be editing them. Or edit and always to a Save As to the individuals Mac.  You can add IPTC metadata annotations to the source files,
rename files, and catagorize the photos with labels, catalog sets and keywords.
The catalog contains preview photos (up to 640 x 640) of each photos that can be viewed even if the source files are not online or otherwise available.
Media Pro is available for both Macs and PCs and as a demo version to try out.  For other candidates visit the The DAM Forum (digital asset management).

  • IPTMyPortal Interface - Has anyone used this one?

I am currently working to manage community preferences under the hood via the server api. I am having a bit of a problem getting an acurate look at what the preferences are for a community. Could someone help me with the "LookupCommunitySettings" method of the IPTMyPortal interface. It returns an array of objects but I am having trouble finding which data type to cast it to in order to access it's members. I have went about this process in another way to gain access to the community settings only to find out that when you access the settings, you are accessing a cached version of them. If they are updated by some external source then you won't get the new values until the cache is cleared and they are re-loaded from the DB. Any help would be nice.
    thanks,
    Craig

    Try something like this:
    Object[][] vtValues = spGadgetInfo.LookupCommunitySettings(null);
    if (null != vtValues){ int lNumRows = vtValues[0].length; for (int lRow = 0; lRow < lNumRows; lRow++) {  String strName = XPConvert.ToString(vtValues[0][lRow]);
    String strValue = XPConvert.ToString(vtValues[1][lRow]);
