Write Kestone to DVD

OK, here's the problem. I produced my first 40 minute long presentation of still pictures, mixed with six short movie clips. There is a soundtrack running in sync with the pictures, going to mute when the movies run. I finished the presentation and copied the entire show to DVD, but it won't play on a DVD player for TV. So, I asked the local Apple store for advice and they said Export it to QuickTime and then to iDVD. So, I tried that but everytime it got to the movie clip, it Quit. So, I tried changing the slide and transition time. This time, it took ages to start converting and when it got to the movie it copied the entire movie and not just the clip.
SO I have a dilemma, I'm needing to write a DVD of the program so I can play on any computer - even if it doesn't have KeyStone. Also, I want to write a version to DVD to play on TV. Also, I want to play this in England which requires a Region 2 DVD write.
Can anyone help me through this mire? I'm leaving for England tomorrow and need to get the DVD transferred tonight.
HELP!!!

OK.
I tried that but everytime it got to the movie clip, it Quit.
Do you mean Keynote quits or iDVD quits?
I want to play this in England which requires a Region 2 DVD write.
Burned DVDs are regionless, so a DVD you burn with iDVD or any other tool should play on any player that can handle a burned DVD, regardless of region. You will, though (unless I'm badly mistaken) have to create the DVD as a PAL project, not NTSC, to play in the UK.

  • Satellite P100 - BSOD when I try to write to a DVD or CD

    I have a Satellite P100, when I try to write to a DVD or CD I get the blue screen, error 50, and my laptop closes down.
    It doesn't matter what type of DVD or CD I use or which brand.
    Also, I have an external DVD drive and the very same thing happens with this.
    This only happens with blank discs and after I have formated it.
    If I use a disc with even a very small file on it eg. one photo, the disc drive works perfectly.
    It displays no other problems. The drive is a Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA device and I'm using Vista.
    I've been told that Vista will not allow me copy copyrighted discs but this happens before I try to copy anything.

    hi eddie-g,
    nice problem you have here....
    - which application do you use to burn a disc?
    - are there more than one applications installed to burn?
    - virtual drives installed?
    - is there a log (mostly in the program directory) which gives some more info?
    - any problems with reading a cd/dvd?
    i only know a error "50" from toast, a mac application to burn...?!
    i think best is to recover the system to make sure its not a software thing...
    or deinstall every burning application and use only the windows features to write on a disc to make sure what kind of error kills your dvds...
    it could be a hardware error too...

  • Blu Ray drive/burner can't write dual layer DVD - W500 Vista 64

    I recently did a clean Vista 64 Business install on a new hard drive. I pretty much have everything up and going, except the Blu Ray drive doesn't recognize that it can write dual layer DVDs. I ran Nero InfoTool and it, too, tells me that the drive cannot write dual layer DVDs. (Pretty much everything in InfoTool is checked, read and write, except all the HD-DVDs and the dual layer DVD write functions.) Does anyone have any ideas? My understanding is that the drive can write dual layer DVDs.

    I'll answer this with the same information that I posted at TPF:
    From: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70234
    Reads or writes data with speedy maximum data transfer rates of:
    * 16x maximum (writing to CD-R media)
    * 10x maximum (writing to CD-RW media)
    * 5x maximum (writing to DVD-RAM media)
    * 8x maximum (writing to DVD+/-R media)
    * 4x maximum (writing to DVD+/-RW media)
    * 2x maximum (writing to BD-R/RE SL media)
    * 1x maximum (writing to BD-R/RE DL media)
    * 24x maximum (reading CD-ROM, CD-R media)
    * 24x maximum (reading CD-RW media)
    * 8x maximum (reading DVD-ROM/-R/+R SL media)
    * 6x maximum (reading DVD-ROM/-R/+R DL media)
    * 6x maximum (reading DVD-RW/+RW media)
    * 5x maximum (reading DVD-RAM media)
    * 2x maximum (reading BD-ROM media)
    * 2x maximum (reading BD-R/RE SL/DL media)
    It appears that DL (dual layer) writing in DVD-R and DVD+R formats is not supported.

    THANKS!

    Hi. No, not yet. Are those supposed to work? I tried KODAK and one that is chinese and sold locally as "maxprint". The strangest thing happened now: I bought 5 of those KODAK and only one of them started the process of burning. But it reported an error after burning 55% and crashed. So, chances are the problem is really with the discs? Not the burner?
    Thanks!

  • How to burn read and write files on DVD

    I would like to know how to burn DVDs (image files) with the Read and Write setting. I have changed the settings in Get Info for the image files to Read and Write for Owner, Group and Others and yet when I burn the DVD and try and copy the files back onto the hard drive (to test if it works or not) it won't allow me. When I check the Get Info it says Read and Write for owner (greyed out) and Read Only for Group and Others (greyed out too).
    I have also tried to change the status of the blank DVD before adding files and after adding the files (but b4 the burn) to Read and Write, this works but then during the burn process the DVD or burner changes my settings to Read Only.
    I am burning with Finder and have tried with Toast 10 Titanium. What am I doing wrong, or not doing at all?! I'm going loopy with frustration!

    Kiraly, I agree that the actual problem here might be something else, but as a side issue there seems to be a difference in the way permissions are handled when a file copy is made using Finder compared to when the copy is made using the cp copy in Terminal. At least in my Tiger system, Finder preserved the permission structure, though not the ownership, when it copied a file, whereas cp used the OS defaults.
    I tried the following experiment:
    From my test user account "t", I created a textfile named ReadWrite.txt, and gave it Read+Write permissions for Owner, Group, and Others. I then burned it using Finder to a DVD which I named PermissionTest, and then unchecked the "Ignore Ownership" box on PermissionTest.
    The original ownership and permissions were preserved on the DVD, though of course you couldn't actually write to anything there:
    xxG5-Computer:~ t$ ls -l /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt
    -rw-rw-rw- 1 t t 15 Sep 13 18:25 /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt
    I then copied the file from the DVD to the Desktop using Finder, and the permissions were preserved!
    Finder copy:
    xxG5-Computer:~ t$ ls -l /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    -rw-rw-rw- 1 t t 15 Sep 13 18:25 /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    I then trashed the Finder copy of ReadWrite,txt on the desktop, and made a second copy from the DVD, but this time I used the cp command from Terminal instead of using Finder. This time the permissions were not preserved, but reverted to the OS default:
    cp copy:
    xxG5-Computer:~ t$ cp /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt Desktop
    xxG5-Computer:~ t$ ls -l /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    -rw-r--r-- 1 t t 15 Sep 13 19:43 /Users/t/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    I then switched to a different user account "t1", and repeated the above with the same DVD, first copying the ReadWrite.txt file to the desktop using Finder, and then using cp. The ownership of the copied file changed from t to t1 in both cases, but the permission structure again was preserved in the Finder copy but not in the cp copy:
    DVD file:
    xxG5-Computer:~ t1$ ls -l /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt
    -rw-rw-rw- 1 t t 15 Sep 13 18:25 /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt
    Finder copy:
    xxG5-Computer:~ t1$ ls -l /Users/t1/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    -rw-rw-rw- 1 t1 t1 15 Sep 13 18:25 /Users/t1/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    cp copy:
    xxG5-Computer:~ t1$ cp /Volumes/PermissionTest/ReadWrite.txt Desktop
    xxG5-Computer:~ t1$ ls -l /Users/t1/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    -rw-r--r-- 1 t1 t1 15 Sep 13 19:51 /Users/t1/Desktop/ReadWrite.txt
    I got similar results when I tried copying a file with Read+Write permissions for all from a USB flash drive to the Desktop, again with the "Ignore Ownership" box unchecked.

  • It's impossible to write on a DVD !

    Hi.
    I've bought my Mac in 2007...
    Now, I've got a problem : i can't write no datas on a DVD (DVD-R/+R or RW); This message appears, at the final step : error code 0x80020022.
    What does-it mean ? What could I do ?
    Writing DVD is necessary for my job (images, sounds, music...). It' s really a big problem.

    HI,
    Try repairing disk permissions. Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
    Make sure the hard drive is ok.
    Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
    Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
    Select First Aid in the Main panel.
    (Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
    Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
    If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
    If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
    When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
    Select your start up disk and click Restart
    While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 15% free disk space.* Not enough disk space can cause directory corruption.

  • Re-write option with DVD writer

    Hi there!
    Would like to know whether do we can re-write on -RE, +RE DVDs by using Mac burn software without any third party software? Please post the third party software as well if it does best in re-writing. Thanks.
    Cheers,
    Sridhar.

    I'm not sure what you mean by RE, but you can only write once to +R and -R; and you can re-write to +RW or -RW. You can use the built in utility to burn, or you can use a third party program such as Toast to burn.

  • Read/write data to dvd?

    Is there a library/package/anything I can use to read and write data to a dvd? Any help is appreciated.
    -tom

    this is such a bizarre question I'm baffled.
    The only thing I can imagine you mean by this is that you have a DVD burner on your PC and you want to read/write to it.
    Reading should just be a case of accessing it by the the drive letter as you would any other physical drive.
    Writing...well unless you have some software that makes the OS think the DVD can be written to like any other drive (I have something like this for my CD burner which lets you drag and drop stuff to the drive etc). Again, this would just be a case of referencing the drive via its 'letter' (in Windows)
    ios that what you mean?

  • IMac 20" suddenly writes tons of DVD+R coasters.

    I've had a 20" 2GHz iMac G5 since summer and for months it was a champ, writing DVD-/+Rs without errors. But suddenly its DVD writing has been terrible, with perhaps a 20% failure rate. I have not switched brands of DVD+R. (I use Sony and Memorex) In the past I was able to run lots of apps, iTunes, surf the web, etc and no matter what I threw at it, I could still write DVD+Rs while running other tasks. I use Toast 6 and 7 Titanium to write DVD+Rs. (I usually use + but sometimes -) The drive is a UJ-845 and I have 2GB of RAM. Recently I've been rebooting the system before DVD writing, though I'm not sure if it helps. Often times the drive writes about 80% of the disc then just stalls with a frustrating Hardware sense key error or some other generic media error. What can I do to get my DVD writing back to normal? I just repaired permissions but have had the same result of 80% complete DVD coaster writes. I'm tempted to think that this all started happening after I first used a DL disc, but I that's probably just my imagination. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

    This may or maynot be your issue.
    I ran into a similar problem after I was doing a lot of back-up. I found that after coping 4 or 5 movies it would just stall out and I tried rebooting and repairing permissions, No Go.
    So here is how I resolved my issue.
    First all of the projects I finished with and I had good copies I trashed the VideoTS folders, then I emptied the trash.
    I still was not aware that several of these files and folders were still being stored to some degree in cache files. So I ran these 3 free utilities and WA LA I was good to go again for about 4 or 5 movies and had to repeat again.

  • SR5110NX does not write to blank DVD disks.

    The DVD/CD reader/writer in the SR5110NX desktop does not recognize that a blank DVD is in the tray.  It "sees" and writes to CDs.  It reads and displays and interprets software disks.  I have tried different disks by different manufacturers and have tried the Microsoft software fixes from the web.  Is this a driver/software problem for which HP/Compaq has a FREE downloadable fix?

    Hi lurawan,
    I'm wondering if there is a codec or driver issue.
    Do regular DVD movies play?
    Have blank DVDs ever worked in the drive?
    Have you tried different brands of blank DVDs? Sometimes drives don't work as well with some brands.
    ...an HP employee just trying to help where I can, but not speaking on behalf of HP.
    Reply:
    Regular DVD movies do not play.  They are not recognized or "seen" or "felt" as being in the DVD drive.
    Unknown if blank DVDs have ever worked in the drive.  It will write to blank CDs.
    Different types of blank DVDs tried are Memorex DVD+R  DL; Sony DVD+R.  Just ordered Verbatim DVD+R to try them.
    It reads and interprets software disks.  Just doesn't seem to recognize DVDs.

  • Cannot Write Dual Layer DVDs on Pavilion G6 laptop

    Hi,
    I have a Pavilion G6 2213sa laptop with a DVD-RAM UJ8B1 DL DVD RW, I can burn single layer DVDs no problems and CDs however when I try to burn a Dual Layer DVD in either UDF or ISO using Nero or ImgBurn it just fails each time when attempting to burn layer 2.
    I have tried to update the drivers but can't find any later ones than the Microsoft one that was from 2006 which I find old. I'm not sure what else I can do, can anyone else help with this? I've only had the laptop for 1 month. I can't see it being a fault with the drive it if it burns CDs and DVDs alright.

    Im just finished my project from idvd it is a big slide show/ videos of my Great uncle that has recently passed away. The Project is 7 gig's I have a entry level macbook with out a super drive. I bought a lacie dvd burner and when i attach it to my computer it gives me the option for dural layer dvd burning but when i hit the burn button a message comes up saying it does not have enough space and it reverts back to 4.7 gigs. Even tho the project is 7 gig's it wont let me burn it.
    Also is there anyway i can just throw the project i made on idvd to titanium toast because i have no problem burning dural layer dvds (dvd dl).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    -Nick

    It sounds like you don't have enough free space on your hard drive. How much free space do you have on you internal hard drive? You need to have at least something like 15 GB - do you?
    I just looked at your screen shot 'up close'. It appears you have about 36 minutes of content in your menus!!!
    Rather than dropping an entire movie file in a menu button drop zone, edit the clip to about 30 seconds in iMovie and use the short clip!

  • Can't get rid of Untitled DVD.fpbf after trying to write onto bad DVD

    I apparenlty had a bad set of DVDs, which I discovered by having tried to back up some data onto them. Fair enough. But the problem occurs after the bad disc is discovered. When finder discovers (and reports) that the disc is bad, I am forever unable to "remove" the burn folder entries listed on the lower-left panel of the finder window. This happens for every disc fails, so I now have a list of these unremovable burn folders down there. I can't drag them to the trash can, and I can't open them (the error says the folder can't be found).
    what now?

    It seems to me there are only two possiblities:
    1. The aborted burn folder actually still exists somewhere and so keeps reappearing, or
    2. A permanent entry for it got recorded to the sidebar plist file even though the thing is actually gone
    If it is there but no longer visible a search using something that sees invisibles, such as find in the Terminal or EasyFind should turn it up. If it exists only in the Sidebar's imagination, then removing
    "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist"
    and logging out/in should get rid of the spurious entries.
