Write permission to folder without allowed sub-folder creation?

Hi guys!
I need to allow users to write files to some KM folder, but they shoud be not allowed to create any sub-folders..
How to achieve this?
Thanx for answers! Points are guaranteed
Peter

Hi Peter,
you can copy an existing Layout Set with the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/30/562cbf45c5b440a2885877a1c230d5/content.htm">Advanced Copy</a> function. See the last entry on where to find this button.
If you are talking about the root folder of your KM Navigation iView you can then use your new Layout Set in the parameter "Path to Initially Displayed Folder" as stated by Georgi. If you want to have this Layout Set only on a specific subfolder, you can achieve that by using a Layout Profile and setting it to this folder via -> Details -> Settings -> Presentation
Hope this helps,
Robert

  • LR5.3 - Imports in to one folder, but displays sub-folder incorrectly

    Hi all
I have recently upgraded to LR5.3 and have now noticed an issue when importing photos.  When importing in to one folder (as a sub folder), the photos are imported correctly, - on disk they appear in the correct place, howevr in the folder panel, the sub-folder is shown outside of the main folder.
    Imort settings are:
Note , on disk the folder '20131226 - Boxing Day' appears correctly (These are all under a root folder 'Photos - LR Masters')
However, in the LR Folder Panel, the folder '20131226 - Boxong Day' appears outside of the 'Photos - LR Masters'
If I attempt to move the folder by dragging, I get an error that the folder already exists.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Rikk
Thanks for replying on this, I have tried to the parent folder but get the following error:
The strange thing i sthat the folder is correct on the disk, the photos can selected from the library and can be developed and exported. The only thing wrong is that the imported folder appears outside of teh parent folder in teh library

  • Managed Content Folder Pagelet: Can Sub-folder list be sorted?

    Greetings,
It seems that even prefixing the names of folders with numbers cannot influence the random arrangement of folder names. Is it possible to sort these for Interaction Hub 9.1 ?
The image below is of a homepage pagelet that was generated with the Pagelet Wizard for the type 'Managed Content Folder.'  Note that when viewed from the managed content 'Browse Folder' these sub-folders do appear in order 1 through 8.

Is the content of the pagelet a navigation collection?
I have seen that in a navigation collection we can specify the order using the 'Placement in Folder' drop down.
I am assuming these options should be similar for Interaction Hub 9.1 as well? Let us know if this was useful or if you are still running into issues. Thanks!

  • How to create a folder and a sub folder in it

    Hai everyone,
I am developing an auto responder application in which many users will be creating different auto responders. To orgainse these lists better i need to give a folder option where a person can create a auto responder in his own folder so that the lists are maintained well.if needed they should be a subfolder option as well in this application.
So can anyone help me to create a folder option and a subfolder's option in that folder. This should be similar like clicking on a browse button where a user can select/create his /her own folder or subfolder and create an auto responder in that folder.

Have a look at the API documentation of class java.io.File.
You'll want to use the mkdir() or mkdirs() method.

  • Network Folder Setup - "No Write Permission". Windows Vista.

    Product: 8600 N911g
I am having issues in creating a network folder to scan to my computer. It responds ‘No write permission’
**NOTE**Before I allow you to continue reading, I need to first know to I need to create a password in my user account, or turn off UAC to create a scan network folder on my PC? If so, then that is what I need to do to correct this issue.
Steps I have performed in attempting to accomplish this task:
In Windows to create shared folder:
    1) Created folder.
    2) Open folder properties, under 'sharing' tab, selected 'Share' button, then selected 'Share' button.
    3) A dialog window appears and states 'Sharing items', and when it is complete, it states "Your folder is shared. You may e-mail these links to notify people that you have shared these files, or copy the links onto the Windows clipboard, where you can paste them into any program you choose.”
    4) When I select ‘Done’, it returns to the folder properties, and states in ‘Network File and Folder Sharing’ under ‘Sharing’ tab under ‘Network Path’: ‘Not Shared’.
**I don’t understand that it just said ‘Your folder is shared’, then under Network Path is stated ‘Not Shared’.**
    5) Since in stated ‘Not Shared’, I selected ‘Advanced Sharing’, checked ‘Share this folder’ box, and under ‘Permissions’, checked ‘Full Control’ box.
    6) Now it states Shared, and under ‘Network Path’ states the location: ‘ \\ADMIN-PC\ScantoDV9825 ’
In the HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g, Embedded Web Server to add network folder to scan to:
    1) Opened ‘Scan’ section by clicking on the tab ‘Scan’. Under ‘Network Folder Setup’, the ‘Network Folder Configuration’ clicked on ‘New’.
    2) Entered data for the following fieldsTEP 1 OF 4: Display Name: ‘Scan’, Network Path: ‘\\ADMIN-PC\ScantoDV9825’. Left User Name and Password fields blank. STEP 2 OF 4: Left PIN fields blank. STEP 3 OF 4: Did not make any changes, used default settings.
    3) In STEP 4 OF 4 when I click on Save and Test, it returns with the message ‘No write permission’
How do I resolve this issue of ‘No write permission’?
    Thank you.

    Hi Robert,
First ensure the permissions are also set correctly by right clicking the shared folder, and then open the Security tab.
If your user name is not listed as Full Control click the edit button, add your user name and check the box for as Allow full control.
If that does not help, follow these steps in Windows Vista to make sure that your computer is configured to allow network sharing.
Step one: Make sure that the computer user account is password protected
Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Control Panel .
Click User Accounts , and then select the account you used to log into the computer.
Click Change your Windows password , and then find the user account you used to log into the computer.
If the user account is password protected , continue to the next step.
If the user account is not password protected , click Create a password for your account to create a password, and then continue to the next step.
Step two: Define the network location
Click the Windows icon ( ), and then click Control Panel .
    Click Network and Internet .
Click Network and Sharing Center .
Click Customize next to Your Network . The Set Network Location window opens.
Select Private , click Next , and then click Close .
Step three: Make sure that the network sharing and discovery options are correct
Open the Network and Sharing Center window.
In the Sharing and Discovery section, make sure that the following network options are set to On :
    Network Discovery
    File Sharing
    Public Folder Sharing (password required)
    Printer Sharing (password required)
    Password Protected Sharing
Your computer network is now successfully set to complete the Scan and Fax to Network Folder or Digital Fax to Network Folder Wizard.

  • Coping folder contents and sub folders

So, I'm working on a little practice folder sync project (fun with my mac)...
...and I'v gotten hung up a bit because my little copying app doesn't seem to count folders and sub folders (which I suppose makes sense).
My initial idea was to take just the date of modification and compare it to the last date that the app was run, inorder to only copy changed files. But this seems problematic on a few levels, so...
So, my two part question is:
    1. Is there a simple command to copy folder contents and sub-folder contents, or do I need to tell the script to do each sub-folder individually?
    2. I imagine that a better way to manage which files/folders need to be updated is to create a file with a list of the contents, and dates of modification, and compare the new folder list and the old folder list to each-other... ok.. so, um. yeah. that sounds tricky.

    >1. Is there a simple command to copy folder contents and sub-folder contents, or do I need to tell the script to do each sub-folder individually?
There are two common solutions to this.
The first is to use the Finder's 'entire contents of...' command to get a list of everything in the folder, including sub-folders, the second is to make your script recursive - that is, it calls itself several times over.
In the first case it's as simple as:
    tell application "Finder"
set allItems to entire contents of folder "path:to:source:folder:"
-- rest of code goes here
    end tell
This can have problems, though, especially on very large directories since the Finder is not very efficient at building a list of hundreds or thousands of files.
The recursive path is a little trickier, but you write a handler to process a folder then repeatedly call that handler, like:
    <pre class=command>on run
    set sourceFolder to (choose folder)
    processAFolder(sourceFolder)
    end run
    on processAFolder(theFolder)
    tell application "Finder"
set allItems to items of folder theFolder as alias list
    repeat with eachItem in allItems
if class of eachItem is folder then -- we have a subfolder
    processAFolder (eachItem)
    else
-- code here to compare the file and back it up
    end if
    end repeat
    end tell
    end processAFolder</pre>
So here you walk through the folder, each time you find a new folder, you walk through that until you're done. The code takes care of keeping track of where you are in the folder hierarchy.
    >2. I imagine that a better way to manage which files/folders need to be updated is to create a file with a list of the contents, and dates of modification, and compare the new folder list and the old folder list to each-other... ok.. so, um. yeah. that sounds tricky.
There's no need to keep a file. Assuming you have two folders you can just walk through one of them checking to see if each item exists in the other, then copy the newer file to the other directory, like:
    <pre class=command>on processAFile(fileName, sourceDir, destDir)
    tell application "Finder"
-- check if the files exist
set sourceFileExists to (file fileName of folder sourceDir exists)
set destFileExists to (file fileName of folder destDir exists)
    -- now comes the logic
if sourceFileExists and not destFileExsits then
duplicate file fileName of folder sourceDir to folder destDir
else if destFileExists and not sourceFileExists then
    -- assuming you want a two-way synch
duplicate file fileName of folder destDir to folder sourceDir
else -- both files exist, so check mod dates
if (modification date of file fileName of folder sourceDir) > (modification date of file fileName of folder destDir) then
duplicate file fileName of folder sourceDir to folder destDir
else if (modification date of file fileName of folder destDir) > (modification date of file fileName of folder sourceDir) then
duplicate file fileName of folder sourceDir to folder destDir
    end if
    end if
    end tell
    end processAFile</pre>
If you're not planning a two-way synch an even simpler option is to just keep track of the last time the synch was run. Then all you need to do on subsequent runs is ask the Finder for 'every file of folder sourceFolder whose modification date is greater than lastRunDate'.

  • Messages missing from all sub-folders after deleted one sub-folder

I had a folder with sub-folders ... one of which had a large number of emails. I deleted one sub-folder because I no longer wanted it and any of the emails. Now when I go to another folder in that sub-folder, it only has one message ... presumably those received after I deleted the sub-folder. When I did a search on the "from" address, I see a large number of subjects but when I click on the subject all I get is the following:
"The message from xxx concerning yyy has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
Firstly, these messages were downloaded and secondly the account is online.
It looks like deleting a sub-folder deletes the contents of all other folders in the main folder. This is terrible and certainly not what I understood should happen. I saw another message about losing emails when an account is deleted, but I move all of my emails out of the account folders immediately.
I suspect I won't be able to recover these messages but this is very scary. Can anyone explain what happened ... and let me know whether it is possible to recover them?

I have fixed my mail folders so I thought I should document what I did for the sake of others who might have the same problem.
When I deleted the sub-folder, Mail screwed up the indexes for all of the sub-folders in the same folder. I used Finder to look at the folders and the mail items were there too. So I decided to try to import them back into Mail and that worked. It fixed up the indexes and everything is there. There were a few duplicate entries ... but that was easy to fix.
    I'll report a bug.

  • How can i reassign images from a secondary folder to the primary folder?

I have two LR library folders, 2014 high-level folder and another 2014 folder as a sub-folder to the high-level 2014 folder. (Yes, I screwed up.) How do I end up with all images in the high-level folder only and delete the sub-level folder?

OK, I think I have found the problem...and it is I. There is a check box in LR/Import option under Destination in the right panel. The "Into Subfolder" check box was checked indicating that LR should create a subfolder (child) under whatever folder was indicated for the imported images to go to when importing. I unchecked this box and everything is OK. I must have unwittingly hit a key activating the subfolder creation option and didn't notice it.
Thanks for helping out. I really appreciate when someone takes the time and trouble to help others.

  • Set all users write permission on a folder

    Greetings,
I have an application which creates a Data folder in the root directory of the C drive on installation and subfolders inside that folder when it first starts up.  It is installed on Windows XP or Vista using an administrator account.  However, I need all of the users on that computer to be able to read and write to the Data folder and its subfolders.  The default folder permissions when created are read-only for other users.
I have tried using the Set Permissions VI, but although I am setting all permissions (b111111111), and subsequent reads of those permissions return the same number, the actual permissions are not affected as far as I can tell by getting the properties of the folder in Windows Explorer.  I have read the help regarding the Set Permissions VI, and it sounds like the only thing it can actually do is set the write permission of the User (not all users), and Windows ignores the rest.
Can anyone advise me of the easiest way to set the write permissions for all users for a folder programmatically?  Even running something inside a CIN would be fine if the code was provided here.
    Thanks much!
    -Joe

Thanks smercurio_fc!  The CACLS solution in your linked post worked perfectly for me for Windows XP, and it turns out that in Vista all Authenticated Users (i.e. everyone but Guest) get modify priviledges by default on (sub)folders which are created by administrators in the root directory, so I don't need to do anything there.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

  • Using Photoshop CC I cannot save images to folder from Camera Raw as Tif. I get message 'write permission error'. I am using Widows 7 Professional.

I have just changed to Photoshop CC from CS4 and cannot now save images from Camera Raw. I get message 'write permission error'. I assume there is some permissions setting which did not exist with CS4.
I cannot progress unless I revert to CS4. What am I failing to do?

I'd suggest that rather than deleting the file, you move it out of the folder to somewhere else, in case things get worse and you need to put it back.
I found this by Googling the error message.
If you can't figure it out, you might post in the "Downloading, Installing and Set Up" or "Adobe Creative Cloud" forums  since it seems to be related to the Cloud updates, and not necessarily ACR plug-in functionality, and I've seen India support people actually tackle problems posted there, which rarely happens in the ACR forum, although an ACR engineer may sometimes pop in to answer questions, they'd be less likely to know how to fix deployment issues.

    Hi,
Please try to setting Folder Permissions on Web Publish, and then deploy it with Web Deploy, as far as I know, if we do that, Web Deploy will use the SetAcl operation to change permissions. Please have a look at the article below.

  • How do I move a file to a sub folder without duplicating

Please help....I am trying to move a file within my list of subfolders to a subfolder. It not only moves it, but also keeps the same file in the subfolder list, in other words, duplicates it. I just want one in the subfolder, not in the sub folder and one in the subfolder list. I do not like having to go to the subfolder list and deleting each file, once I have moved the file to a subfolder.

Try resetting home folder permissions and ACLs. If you have a permissions problem in your account, then it could be inherited to subdirectories in the account and propagate the problem. To reset this, reboot the system with the Command-R keys held down immediately after you hear the boot chimes. This will load to the OS X Recovery tools, and when you do so, select the Terminal from the Utilities menu.
In the Terminal, run the command "resetpassword" (all one word, lowercase), and in the utility that pops up, choose your hard drive, then your user account from the drop-down menu, and then click the button to reset home folder permissions and ACLs.
This should ensure all folders in your system are properly accessible, so when you drag items around they are moved by default, instead of copied or otherwise handled.
Alternatively, as CT mentioned, if you are using Command-C to copy a selection and then are trying to paste it in a new location with Command-V, then this will result in copying the files and not moving them.
