Writing chinese using trackpad

I used to be able to use my MacBook Pro trackpad to write Chinese.  Today it is NOT working even after I rebooted and rebooted the machine.  Don't get me wrong.  Using the "SHIFT + Control + space bar", I could bring up the pad on the screen.  I could even write.  But the only thing wrong was that the words written did not stick with the brower search box in Firefox.  Why is that?

    Hi, I was working on a PDF writing comments using Adobe Reader on a Mac.  I clicked save and got a 'cannot save' message.  I then clicked save as instead, Reader froze and my PDF disappeared.  The only version saved has only my first comment.  Does Adobe Reader save to temporary files that I can access in order to recover my work?  Is there any other way to recover it?  Thanks!

    Hi @Pat Willener,
    since I got the same problem as pdfprincess I hope you can help me. The 'Automatically save document changes to temporary file...' is enabled in my adobe reader.
    A file I worked (commented) on a lot crashed. When I reopened the file, adobe reader didn't ask if I want to restore my changes in this file, as it is written on the help.adobe.com page. Is there any possibility to restore the changes manually from the temporary file?
    Thanks in advance - it is really important for me to restore these changes!!

  • Use Trackpad to zoom in and out - Too sensitive in Safari 4

    Hi, I just installed Safari 4 three days ago. Without changing any settings, now I found out that when I use trackpad to zoom in/out the font, it responses too sensitive than it did in previous Safari. It jumps up/down at least two levels every time I try to adjust the font size. It is not that controllable anymore.
    Has anyone else noticed this? How do I fix this? Thanks!

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro. The zoom feature is way too sensitive for my liking, however, there is no way at the moment to control it. As this is a Beta version, these oddities will occur. Hopefully, when Safari 4 is released in final version (no date yet announced) this problem will be fixed.
    As I previously did, let Apple know what you are experiencing with the trackpad via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple. If you want to go back to Safari 3, use the Uninstaller that's included in the Safari 4 Downloads package. This is the only safe way to go back to Safari 3.

  • How to rename folders from english to chinese with trackpad?

    So I have an iMac and I'm trying to rename some folders from english to traditional chinese. I have the trackpad and I know how to pull up the language input and everything. Sometimes I can rename folders to chinese and sometimes I can't. Any way to fix this?

    The point is to find out whether your problem is connected only to the handwriting IM or to Chinese in general.  So could you perhaps try using the pinyin or other keyboard IM and see if the same problem exists or not?

  • How can I go back and forward on a webbrowser using trackpad?

    Hello
    I upgraded my os with Lion.
    in the fore version, I could use three fingers to go back and forware on the webbrowser,
    but now I can't.
    I can't find any options in any pages.
    I think that was very useful..
    How can I do it again?

    Hi Hyok:
    Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > More Gestures and make sure you have "Swipe between pages" checked. You can set it for 2 or 3 fingers or 3 fingers only.
    The other thing to keep in mind is that, in Lion, the swipe direction will be reversed from Snow Leopard. In other words, to swipe back a page in Safari, you will need to swipe towards the right instead of the left. This mimics the finger movements of the iPad and is more true to what you would do if the page was a physical object and you were moving it out of the way. It could be that you already have this box checked but aren't swiping the right direction to go backwards.
    I highly recommend giving this new swiping technique a chance, as I have found it an improvement over the old way. It took me about a week to get used to it. If you try it and really don't like it, you can go to the "Scroll and Zoom" tab in Trackpad preferences and deselect "Scroll direction: Natural".
    Hope this helps.

  • Trouble in writing Chinese Characters into database

    I'm developing a JSP web site using ACCESS2002, Tomcat4.0.4 and J2EE 1.4.1. I found my data(chinese chatacters) in mess when I wrote it in to database through sun's own JDBC-ODBC driver though it is displayed correctly in web-browser. I tried in JSP, Servlet and JavaBean, and the situation seems no better.
    Is it the problem of sun's JDBC-ODBC driver or is there a solution to this problem?
    Eager to hear a reply, thank millions!!

    Have you tried something like the following?
    first, set this page quality:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=Big5"%>
    then, change the Chinese string to this:
    String zhtounicode=new String(yourzhstring.getBytes("8859_1"));
    then, do with the converted string.

  • Writing files using UTL_FILE package

    Greetings:
    I'm attempting to write simple text files on the server side using the UTL_FILE package.I can get it to write the file to a local drive on the Oracle server with no problems, but not a network drive. When trying to write to a network drive, the FOPEN function raises the UTL_FILE.INVALID_OPERATION exception. This is even with my UTL_FILE_DIR parameter set the * for all directories and I have "Full Control" permission on the directory. I am running in a NT Server/Wkstn environment. Anyone have any ideas why I can't write a file to a network drive?
    Thanks a lot,
    Chris Scopp

    Thanks for your response...
    I have set the UTL_FILE_DIR parameter... I've tried setting it to the * for all directories and also mapping a drive letter from the server to where I want to write the file and then explicitly naming this path in the UTL_FILE_DIR parameter. Neither works, I still get the INVALID_OPERATION exception raised on the FOPEN function. I'm convinced now that it does have something to do with NT because I have been able to do the same operation writing to a Win95/98 box and it works fine. I have "Full Control" to all places I'm trying to write to, any other ideas?
    Thanks a lot,
    Chris Scopp

  • Writing chinese character into a file

    Hi,
    I need to write chinese characters into a file,I used FileOutputStream, using the method write(byte[] b)...
    whereby I will convert the chinese word into bytes....
    but it couldn't work...
    Please Help!!

    you can write the unicode hex string (e.g. 606D559C53D18D22 for Gong Xi Fa Chai) into a text file by using the following code
              PrintWriter out2 = new PrintWriter(new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream("chinese_out.txt", false), "UTF-8")));
                   int countChineseChar = chineseHex.length()/4;
                   int index = 0;
                   String c = "";
                   int b;
                   for(int i=0; i<countChineseChar-1; i++)
                        c = new String(chineseHex.substring(index, index+4));
                        b = Integer.parseInt(c, 16);
                        out2.write(b);
                        index+=4;
    Note that the OutputStreamWriter uses the UTF-8 to encode the unicode hex. I'm assuming that the hex is fixed at 4 digits each character

  • Problems about reading Japanese and writing Chinese

    Hi all experts,
    Now I have a encoding problem.
    My task is, read some Japanese in a text-based file, and then replace that Japanese with a Chinese string.
    That means, the program must be able to understand both the Japanese encoding and the Chinese encoidng. But the dilemma is that, in the OS I am using (Windows), you can only have one locale at a time. If you set your OS locale to Chinese, the program is able to write Chinese, but it cannot properly detect the Japanese. On the othe hand, if you set your OS locale to Japanese, the program is able to detect Japanese, but it cannot properly write Chinese.
    So can any one help me get around this problem (for instance, there is some special API dealing with encodings and so on)?
    Thanks a lot!

    InputStreamReader and OutputStreamWriter constructors both accept parameters to specify the encoding of the data stream.
    The New IO (NIO) classes have these and additional capabilities, including converting from one encoding to another using code like this:
    Charset charset = Charset.forName("ISO-8859-1");
    CharsetDecoder decoder = charset.newDecoder();
    CharBuffer charBuffer = decoder.decode(buffer);Look at the java.nio.charset package.

  • Plz help: Can i type Chinese using an Apple English wireless keyboard?

    Kind of struggling between whether should i buy a wireless keyboard for my ipad air 2 as i may have lotta word job related to Chinese and French, and i know that French is okay with the English keyboard, at least much eaiser than typing Chinese characters. So the real concern is, can i properly type Chinese with the wireless keyboard? I've seen some solutions (all didn't mention if it has been proved or not so i automatically assume they are all just beautiful hypotheses) posted in the community claiming you just need go to settings then select the international language you wanna use, and you will be all set (in both virtual and external keyboard)----is that true??? Pleeeease help, thousands of thanks

    Boom here i back. First of all i have to say that Amazon Prime delivery speed is aaaaawesome! Placed my order yesterday and got my new shiny wireless keyboard right in TODAY'S MORNING! Thanks Amazon.
    And switch back to the topic. So thrilled to unwrap my package and write down this review here----Yes, absoluately this keyboard can type Chinese, just tried on it and received a perfect performance along with a fluent typing experience. Well, actually, it can undertake all different languages that preset in the ipad software without any problem, thus the language versions provided to the keyboard is just a matter of layouts, which is absoluately not relevant, like Tom said, for what language you can type.
    There's one thing need to be mentioned though, if your keyboard is an English version, when you wanna type accented letters like French or special symbols, you may have to memorize some certain keys and then press the "option" button at the same time to bring up the hidden stuff you want since there's nothing but just English letters printed on each key.
    Furthermore, the design is simple but stylish, super thin and feather-light, always ready to go, make a fantastic pair with my ipad and now they are officially couples kkkkkkkkkk. Have to admit that Apple always make good-looking products.
    Regarding to the battery life, ummmmmmmm...have no idea right now as it's a brandnew boy, but referring to most of other folks, let's say the battery can last for months even with an everyday-use, i hope so....Nous allons attendre et voir !
    As for those who don't know how to tell the keyboard is on/off, just tried on mine, to turn it off, simply press the big home botton on the side and hold for seconds till the green lil light goes out (usually takes 3 seconds or so), if you wanna double check, just hit a key randomly and you will notice that no further letters appear on your screen due to the disconnection of the keyboard.
    So, all in all, if you like this keyboard and you are a heavy word job person, go for it, no concern leave behind. (Apple should really pay me advertising fees for all these words and i'm tired out for typing already kkkkkkkk)
    Hoping this helps

  • Writing query using UNION Operator

    Question -
    (1)
    Write an SQL Statement to list the following items: Customer ID, Customer Name, number of invoices, sum of total for invoices. Ensure that all customers are returned in the result set.
    Answer for the above is written as below by one person. That seams to be correct. Is there another way of writing this same query.;
    select c.CUSTOMER_ID,c.NAME,i.cnt,i.s
    from gee_customer c,(select customer_id,count(*) as cnt, sum(TOTAL) as s
    from gee_invoice
    group by customer_id) i
    where c.CUSTOMER_ID = i.customer_id (+)
    (2)
    My other question is How to write the above answer (or what you sugest) using UNION operator ?
    Any ideas please

    In fact the outer join means you use the union of two result sets - usual join result
    and the rows from the outer table for which there is not any row in the inner table.
    SQL> select d.deptno, e.ename from emp e, dept d
      2  where d.deptno = e.deptno(+)
      3  order by 1,2
      4  /

  • AIM Crashes When Using Trackpad

    I have no idea why..
    but ever since i had my MBP, AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) always crashed...specifically when i'd use the track pad. i'd try scrolling with trackpad or something and it would just "unexpectedly quit" when i use a mouse, however, it works perfectly normal.
    anyone else experience this or know why its happening?

    I tried using iChat, but it just didn't feel right after so many years of AIM. I poked around in the OSX downloads section and found Adium, which is very customizable and supports AIM, YIM, MSM messenger, etc.
    It has some nice features like easy buddy icon resizing (which YIM would do for you, AIM not at all), but it seems that your buddies can only see yours if they use Adium as well. I'm not sure. There are also some problems with the file transfer system.
