Writing colums and reading columns

when i am writing values in the controls (VI attached).in the column headers i write deliberately
CYCLES header after giving space after TIME header.this is because when i see the corresponding text file in notepad.the headers looks fine but in the Table CYCLE header look moved to other column.in
the wordpad all headers looked moved. why it is like this? why cannot same time in table, notepad and wordpad i dont see the header on its appropriate column.
The other issue is when i am reading the same text file that i already wrote.i am getting zeros in first row,first column and last column. i am just deleting the first row and first column.i am also deleting the last column zeros. but i am not sure whether this meth
od of just deleting zeros is correct or wrong.whether i am deleting some important data or not?(VI attached).

You won't ever get the same look in notepad or wordpad that you would see in a table. The table automatically lines up the data in rows and columns. In notepad or wordpad, all it sees is data, space, data, space, etc. There is no mechanism to line up into columns. You could force the line up if you inserted a tab character between each data value. then you would have data, tab, data, tab,... Notepad would see the tab and move to the next tab mark, thereby lining up the columns. However, if one of the data fields or headers have more characters than the next tab mark, a misalignment could take place. If you want to see things lined up, use a spreadsheet instead of notepad.
On your second issue, the first column (column 0) and first row (row 0) are he
ader information, like "Block 1" and "Amplitude". When reading the file, these values cannot be converted to a number, so you will see a 0 in all columns of the first row and all rows of the first column. When you delete the first row and first column, you are eliminating the headers and get the correct data. Column 6 has zeros because there is no data in column 6. There is a column 6 becasue you wrote the file with a space before CYCLE. This created a column header with no data in that column. Your data for Cycle fell under the column with a space for a header. You do not need that space before CYCLE. Take it out. (Don't worry about it not lining up in a text file, it won't) Then you won't need to delete column 6 because there won't be any column 6. After deleting column 0 (Block#), you will be left with columns 1 through 6 shifting to occupy columns 0 through 5 to fill in for the deleted column.

     I am the new user of LabVIEW version 7.1 for testing automation application. I have to measure 33 signals ( mostly analog like temp, pressure, etc...) from NI USB 6210 DAQ system and write in master file for future verfication.From real data or from master file back up have to write  one more file if only the signal reaches steady state , which will used for analysis and same signals to be read from this file parallely & make a waveform and/or table display format.
    Pl. help me to shortout this problem 
    note: I have plan to ugrade labVIEW version 2011 shortly, so let me know doing parrel acquistion write and read file for data analysis in same VI in version 7.1...... 

    Parallel operations in LabVIEW are very simple.  Just code it in parallel and it will work.
    Try taking a look at some of the examples in the NI Example Finder (Help > Find Examples).  There you will find example for writing to and reading from files, as well as data acquistion in parallel with other operations.
    You might need a producer/consumer architecture is you are acquiring data very quickly.

  • Problem with writing and reading using serialization

    I am having a problem with writing and reading an object that has another object in it. The purpose of the class is to write a order that has multiple items in it. And there will be several orders. This is for an IB project, where one of the requirements is to utilize a hierarchical composite data structure. That is, it is "one that contains more than one element and at least one of the elements is a composite data structure. Examples are, an array or linked list of records, a record that has one field that is another record, or an array". The code is shown below:

    ok i got reading to work to a certain extent... but the prob is i cnt seem to save my innerCustOrdObj proprly...when ever i look for a record using the gotorecordbtn, the outerobject, which is the orderDetails, seems to change but the innerCustOrdObj remains the same... heres the new code..

  • Problem with ArrayLists and writing and reading from a .dat file (I think)

    I'm brand new to this forum, but I'm sure hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with ArrayLists. This program was originally created with an array of objects that were displayed on a GUI with jtextFields, then cycling thru them via jButtons: First, Next, Previous, Last. Now I need to add the ability to modify, delete and add records. Both iterations of this program needed to write to and read from a .dat file.
    It worked just like it was suppose to when I used just the array, but now I need to use a "dynamic array" that will grow or shrink as needed: i.e. an ArrayList.
    When I aded the ArrayList I had the ArrayList use toArray() to fill my original array so I could continue to use all the methods I'd created for using with my array. Now I'm getting a nullPointerException every time I try to run my program, which means somewhere I'm NOT filling my array ???? But, I'm writing just fine to my .dat file, which is confusing me to no end!
    It's a long program, and I apologize for the length, but here it is. There are also 2 class files, a parent and 1 child below Inventory6. This was written in NetBeans IDE 5.5.1.

    BalusC -- The line that gives me my NullPointerException is when I call the "DisplayProduct()" method. Its a dumb question, but with NetBeans how do I find out which reference could be null? I'm not very familiar with how NetBeans works with finding out how to debug. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.The IDE is com-plete-ly irrelevant. It's all about the source code.
    Do you understand anyway when and why a NullPointerException is been thrown? It is a subclass of RuntimeException and those kind of exceptions are very trival and generally indicate an design/logic/thinking fault in your code.

  • Writing the file using Write to SGL and reading the data using Read from SGL

    Hello Sir, I have a problem using the Write to SGL VI. When I am trying to write the captured data using DAQ board to a SGL file, I am unable to store the data as desired. There might be some problem with the VI which I am using to write the data to SGL file. I am not able to figure out the minor problem I am facing.  I am attaching a zip file which contains five files.
    1)      Acquire_Current_Binary_Exp.vi -> This is the VI which I used to store my data using Write to SGL file.
    2)      Retrive_BINARY_Data.vi -> This is the VI which I used to Read from SGL file and plot it
    3)      Binary_Capture -> This is the captured data using (1) which can be plotted using (2) and what I observed is the plot is different and also the time scare is not as expected.
    4)      Unexpected_Graph.png is the unexpected graph when I am using Write to SGL and Read from SGL to store and retrieve the data.
    5)      Expected_Graph.png -> This is the expected data format I supposed to get. I have obtained this plot when I have used write to LVM and read from LVM file to store and retrieve the data.
    I tried a lot modifying the sub VI’s but it doesn’t work for me. What I think is I am doing some mistake while I am writing the data to SGL and Reading the data from SGL. Also, I don’t know the reason why my graph is not like (5) rather I am getting something like its in (4). Its totally different. You can also observe the difference between the time scale of (4) and (5).

    The binary data file has no time axis information, it is pure y data. Only the LVM file contains information about t(0) and dt. Since you throw away this information before saving to the binary file, it cannot be retrieved.
    Did you try wiring a 2 as suggested?

    I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Reading lock and pk column values

    Hi!
    I was wondering whether it is possible to somehow read the value a
    persistent object has for its lock column (JDOLOCKX by default) and pk
    column (with datastore identity, JDOIDX by default).
    Especially reading the lock would be useful. My specific problem is this:
    in J2EE environment when a persistent object is serialized and given to the
    web (or any other ui-) layer to display, its identity is lost. There are
    nice examples for solving this problem in the documentation so this is not
    an issue. However, there is no easy way to determine whether someone else
    changed the same data while it was being watched (and modified) on the web
    page. So, in essence, this is an optimistic transaction. However, to use
    optimistic transactions one would have to use stateful session beans. And
    if I am correct, an optimistic transaction has to have a live persistence
    manager all the time, so this is not acceptable unless the
    persistencemanager releses its sql connection in between calls. I don't
    think it does, or does it? And anyhow, I'd prefer using stateless session
    beans.
    It would be quite easy to implement some sort of timestamp mechanism by
    inserting a persistent field for it and updating its value by using
    InstanceCallback interface. However, as the JDOLOCKX column already exists
    it would be nice not to reinvent the wheel.
    The pk value I would need in case the same db is used by many apps (not
    all in Java) and they need to communicate some information about a specific
    object stored in the db (in which case it would be easiest to give the pk
    value to identify an object). Again, I could use ApplicationIdentity or
    make some field where to store some unique value, but I'd prefer using the
    pk value since it is already there (and would not like to use Application
    Identity just because of this).
    Any other solutions to the above problems besides being able to read the
    JDOIDX and JDOLOCKX values are welcome, too.

    You can either parse the toString () generated from
    JDOHelper.getObjectId () or cast it to ObjectIds.Id (in 2.5.x) or Id (in
    3.0) to get the pk value.
    You can also retrieve the lock version in the same fashion.

    (not all in Java) and they need to communicate some information about
    a specific object stored in the db (in which case it would be easiest
    to give the pk value to identify an object). Again, I could use
    ApplicationIdentity or make some field where to store some unique
    value, but I'd prefer using the pk value since it is already there
    (and would not like to use Application Identity just because of this).
    Any other solutions to the above problems besides being able to read
    the JDOIDX and JDOLOCKX values are welcome, too.

  • Weblogic 8.1/Oracle 9 Writing and Reading Clob

    I’m trying to write and read a clob to a database table. The database table has
    an Id field (int) and a Content field (clob).
    My environment consists of Weblogic 8.1, and Oracle 9. Is there a way to get a
    handle to a Weblogic connection to Oracle and then write and read clobs?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Problem 1. US7ASCII and Linux - Status Resolved.
    The issue with the BEA 817 JDBC driver not connecting to the US7ASCII database tuned out to be that it had not deployed the connection pool correctly from the weblogic admin console... or that it was reported as being deployed when in fact it was not. After re-deploying the connection pool and restarting the server we were able to connect.
    The patch was for character sets was not needed.
    Problem 2. Oracle Stored Proc error.
    The problem with the stored procedures tunred out to be with ref cursors. A patch in sp3, and a change to the way we called the stored proc allowed us to fix the problem.
    The problem is reproduced when connecting to an Oracle 8.1.7 server.
    It was introduced in the Connect JDBC driver build 3.0.0007. According
    to the jdbcread.me file which comes with the 3.0.0007 build we
    deprecated the refCursorSupport connection property. This could be
    related to the driver not being able to execute a stored procedure
    containing ref cursors.
    Resolution
    Driver was fixed in the Connect JDBC 3.1 Oracle driver version 3.1.0008
    The trick was to use
    "{call PROC(?,?)}"
    instead of
    "BEGIN PROC(?, ?);
    END;"

  • Problem using the Write to SGL VI and Read from SGL VI

    Hello Sir, I have a problem using the Write to SGL VI. When I am trying to write the captured data using DAQ board to a SGL file, I am unable to store the data as desired. There might be some problem with the VI which I am using to write the data to SGL file. I am not able to figure out the minor problem I am facing. I am attaching a zip file which contains five files.
    1) Acquire_Current_Binary_Exp.vi -> This is the VI which I used to store my data using Write to SGL file.
    2) Retrive_BINARY_Data.vi -> This is the VI which I used to Read from SGL file and plot it
    3) Binary_Capture -> This is the captured data using (1) which can be plotted using (2) and what I observed is the plot is different and also the time scare is not as expected.
    4) Unexpected_Graph.png is the unexpected graph when I am using Write to SGL and Read from SGL to store and retrieve the data.
    5) Expected_Graph.png -> This is the expected data format I supposed to get. I have obtained this plot when I have used write to LVM and read from LVM file to store and retrieve the data.
    I tried a lot modifying the sub VI’s but it doesn’t work for me. What I think is I am doing some mistake while I am writing the data to SGL and Reading the data from SGL. Also, I don’t know the reason why my graph is not like (5) rather I am getting something like its in (4). Its totally different. You can also observe the difference between the time scale of (4) and (5).

    As already discussed a while ago, your binary data does not contain timing information. You need to tell it the scan rate so it can reconstruct the time axis correcty.
    From the data, it seems the sample file was recorded at 0.5MHz. Take the inverse and set the time increment. Voila!
    Your sample file is two column data with one colum all zero. You need to set the number of columns to two, to only get the good data in channel 1.
    Your acquisition program contains unecessary FOR loops, you can remove the inner loops without change in result.
    It makes no sense to convert to SGL if you initialize the shift registers with an empty DBL array. You need to initialize with an empty SGL array.
    (The code could be simplified quite a bit more, but this should give you some directions).
    The attached zip shows some ideas (LabVIEW 7.1).

  • Is there a way to select a certain box of elements from a csv file and read that into LabVIEW?

    Hello all, I was wondering if there was a way to select only a certain "box" of elements from a .csv file in LabVIEW? I have LabVIEW 2011 and my main goal is to take two arrays and graph them against each other. I can import the .csv file just fine and separate each row and each column to be its own, but say I have an 8X8 but want to graph the middle 4X5 or something like that. Is there any way to extract an array without starting at the beginning and without ending at the end? Thank you in advance.

    Hi Szklanam,
    as a CSV file is just a TXT file with a different suffix you can read a certain number of lines of that file. So you can limit the number of rows in your resultung array. To limit the number of columns you still have to use ArraySubset, so maybe it's a lot easier to read the full CSV file and pick the interesting spots with ArraySubset...

  • How to open and read many files from a directory and store contents in 2D array?

    I want to make a VI that opens and reads the data from various files contained in a directory (200 files each with 2 columns) and store these in a single 2D array. For file number 1 I want to store the data from both columns in the 2D array, but for files 2 to 200 I only want to store the second column of each file. Can someone please help?

    Thanks for your help. I have followed your instructions but i cannot get it to work. I used the LIST DIRECTORY to list the files in the directory - that works. However, how do I read each of the 200 files using READ FROM SPREADSHEET FILE without me having to manually select each of the 200 files? So, if I use LIST DIRECTORY to list all 200 files in an array, how do I get each of these to open and store the data in a 2D array? Here is what I have done (File called read_files.VI) Could you please help me? Thank you very much in advance.

  • Report with non aggregated and aggregated columns from different facts.

    We have got requirement as follows,
    1) We have two dimension tables, and two fact(Fact1 and Fact2) table in physical.
    2) In BMM we have made hierarchies for both dimensions, and are joins both logical fact table.
    3)In fact1, we are having three measures of which we have made two as aggregation sum, and one is non aggregated(It contains character).
    4)Fact2 have two measures, both are aggregation as sum.
    5)Now here the problem arises, we want to make a report with some columns from dim and non aggrgated column from fact1 and and aggregated column fact2
    How to resolve the above issue.

    As suggested you really want to move your none-aggregated fact attributes to a logical dimension (using the same physical table as the logical fact). Map this in the BMM layer as a snowflake, Place a hierarchy on this dimension with (at minimum) Total -> Detail levels, then on the other fact table you want to include in the report, set the content level on your other fact measures to the 'Total' level for your new logical Dim and it will allow them to be present in the same report.

  • Can't forward/reply or write/send an email. Can open and read but that is all. Can't close that page. Have to shut down and start over. Frustrating!
