Writing on an iPad

Is there an accessory that makes writing on the iPad more like pen and paper and less like LARGE crayon?

What is the best way to remove crayon writing from my Ipad?

All Apple recommends is a damp cloth.
Depending on how much and thick it is, I'd use a dry papertowel or your fingernail to scrape the bulk of it off (I suggest fingernail so that you use something that can't really scratch the iPad)
Once you get most of it, then use a damp, not wet, cloth, maybe one that you moistened with warm water to help cut through the waxy nature of the crayon.
What you don't want to do is use chemicals or anything like a scrubby pad because you don't want to scratch the surface in your efforts to clean it.

  • Writing Reviews on iPad

I just spent twenty minutes writing an app review on my iPad.
When I started, the App Store asked for my ID and password before it allowed me to start writing - fair enough, it needs to verify who I am for several reasons.
When I finished my review and tapped 'Send', it asked for my password again. So I go to my password manager to copy my password, and when I return to the AppStore app and paste my password, it refreshes the screen and my twenty minutes of writing gets flushed like so much garbage.
Apple acts like they're serious about security (why else ask for my password before allowing me to write and again before allowing me to post?) =and= Apple acts like they want power users to write detailed and thoughtful reviews for them - but they make it impossible to have strong passwords (long and difficult to memorize and changed often - that need to be kept in a password vault), and still write reviews using their products.
    I can only repeat, ***?
Get a clue. people. Hire some software testers and test in the =real= world.

(Who is not likely to waste his time writing reviews for the app store again)

Or hire monkeys to write reviews - you'll get about the same result.

  • Best fine tip writing stylus for iPad Air?

I have some apps on my new iPad Air where I can use a stylus to jot notes, etc.  However, all I have is the fat round rubber-type stylus.  One is from Bamboo, the others were gifts.  They are awkward to use for notes, to do lists, etc.  Is there a fine tip stylus that can be used that will not harm my iPad screen?  Any recommendations/suggestions are most appreciated.

Hey! I have been writing (a lot) on my ipad for quite a while now ( a year) so i believe i can give u some tips about styli.
I have checked out all kinds of styli. The worst styli you can find out there are the rubber end ones. Even if they have a fine point they're still incapable. When ur screen or the rubber point is going to be slightly humid then its rubbish. U will need something more solid.
I have bought both Adonit Pro and Adonit Script t different times and tried them out.
I had first started using Adonit Pro. Its incredible really. The only con about it is that if ure not careful with it u can lose the disc, and also u must replace the disc every 3 months or so, depending on the rate ur using it.
I use it every single day and a lot. I do not write on paper, just on my ipad. I study medicine so u could understand i write a lot. It also has a magnet inside, which lets it attach on your ipad smartcase. It really comes in handy trust me.
Then the Script was produced and many styli users went a bit mad about if it was worth it or not etc. I liked the fact that it had no disc. BUT at the end of the day i was dissapointed. I gave it a one month chance. Many cons and few pros.
    Cons:
BATTERY required therefore heavier and u need to buy a battery average every month (not that of a big deal though)
CLICKING NOISE. if ur in a coffee shop or something like that its perfectly fine. But if ure in the library then its a pain in the *** believe me. Everyones going to be ****** at u
IPAD ORIENTATION ISSUES. If ure writing on a vertically orientated ipad then the styli works great. If its horizontally then the stylus tends to write about 1-2mm inferiorly to your tip. I tried to get used it but just couldnt. After going back to my Adonit Pro i realised i was suffocating with the Adonit Script.
    TOO EXPENSIVE.
Conclusion: I vehemently reccomend Adonit Pro.
ps1. i have nothing to do with Adonit. Just trying to help!
ps2. ill send u some pictures of my work so u get the idea of how writing with the Adonit Pro is. My writing is exactly the same when i write on paper

  • PC Laptop, MacBook, or what I really want.... The iPad 2

I am a community college student in Eastern North Carolina. This past summer my laptop of several years finally ground it's last gear and since then I have been without a laptop. I do not receive financial aid, or help of any kind, paying for my classes and textbooks so I was going to go to my local Wal-Mart and just buy the cheapest laptop they had so I could complete my assignments. I said as much in one of my classes and my professor who happens to have all Apple Products had a lot to say. Yet I am still unsure of a few things and need some clarifications before I make a purchase (I have read everything I can find, but I am worried I've misread or misinterpreted something):
What I need to be able to do:Write / Create:
    Research Papers
    Excel Documents
    Power Point Presentations
Create, Open, Edit, Save and Send the above type of files so they can be opened, edited, saved and sent on Windows 7 Microsoft Office 2010
Surf the Internet (I am aware that Safari fulfills this need)
Back-up my files, pictures, music, videos, etc. on an external harddrive should (God forbid) something happen to whatever product I purchase. (I feel much safer with a hard copy)
Stream online video(s) and audio to complete assignments for classes.
Carry my product with me all day, every day. (I leave home at 6am and rarely get home before 9pm)
What I want to be able to do:
Keep track of assignments, appointments, and work schedule
Have my music, videos, and pictures with me while I am on-the-go
Watch an occasional movie from iTunes or Netflix without using all of my available memory
Consolidate! (My bookbag is extremely heavy from lugging around textbooks, notebooks, and various items and supplies for both work and school)
PURCHASE eTextbooks (CourseSmart offers only rentals, and as a Psychiatric Social Work major I want to keep some of my psychology and social work textbooks as references later on down the road. Purchased eTextbooks can't be ruined, lost, or stolen like printed textbooks and so seem the smarter choice)
    Questions:
What is the big difference from an Apple Laptop and Apple's iPad 2?What can the laptops do that iPad 2 cannot? I know there are no USB hubs or any ways to install a program from a CD, but with iCloud and the AppStore won't I have everything I will need?
If I decide to buy the iPad 2:
Do I buy the iPad 2 from the Apple Store, Wal-Mart, or Best Buy?Honestly, what is the difference? The Apple Store for Education offers free next day shipping as a "discount" but this is going to be my Christmas present for myself and it is going to have to sit in it's box until December 25 anyways. Or I can always drive 25 minutes to Best Buy and not have to worry about any kind of shipping at all. Everyone's prices are all the same so I see no difference. Am I missing something here??
Which memory size do I buy?
I had a lot of music on iTunes, but have forgotten my password. Since I no longer attend the school which provided the e-mail account I had (stupidly) linked to my iTunes Account there is no way to find out my password. I have 2GB worth of songs on my new iTune's account, and I do expect that to grow.
I do have a lot of pictures, but they are all on Facebook and Google's Picaso Application. I really do not see myself using the iPad 2's cameras much, and not to mention I heard they left the consumer lacking.
I perform a lot of work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; however with iCloud and the 'Dropbox' App I should be able to save my work online, right?
I do not travel much, but when I do travel it is long distances. (Example: 2008 - England for 1 month, 2009 - Ireland for one month, 2010 - Wales and Scotland for one month) Would WiFi  work in the UK, Italy, Greece, India, Peru, Guatemala, etc.? I cannot see how it would be, but I am just now truly jumping on the technology bandwagon.
Can I back-up ALL of my iPad 2's files on a external hard drive via a PC Computer?
    WiFi Only or WiFi+3G?
One mile from my house in every direction some form of high speed internet is offered, but my family and I are stuck using dial-up (shhh.... shhh.... it's okay.... don't cry for me too hard). My HTC Desire cellular phone contracted through US Cellular offers a Mobile WiFi Hotspot and only offers 2GB of service. Can you sign up for a iPad 2 WiFi+3G data plan without having a cellular plan through either AT&T or Verizon? Is the 3G service only offered in the USA?
How to the WiFi Only and WiFi+3G differ? Just being able to get online even when there isn't a WiFi connection available?
Will the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote Apps fulfill my need for Mircosoft 2010 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint?
I must be able to create, open, edit, save, and send work to my professors. I understand that I can accomplish all these things should my professor use an Apple Product; however, what if my professor does not? Will Windows 7 Microsoft 2010 be able to open my work?
Is there a video, book, ebook, or guide on how to use Pages, Numbers, and Keynote? I have never used these applications and from what I have seen it will be quite an adjustment for me.
Can I take music or videos off my iPad should my space begin to run low?I have bought several songs and videos on my iTunes Account, but what if I sync my iTunes Library only to find when it has finished that I have only 3GB of memory left? (Probably a stupid question, but I am trying to cover all angles before making such a purchase)
Can I buy textbooks via the iTunes Store, CourseSmart, or Textbook Application?
I have researched CourseSmart to the best of my ability and it seems that you can only rent eTextbooks. Is the accurate? Not that I am complaining! By renting textbooks on the iPad 2 via the CourseSmart Application the device will have paid for itself in just two semesters. Considering I have at least another 3.5 years of study ahead of me there is no telling just how much money I can save!
Should actually buying eTextbooks not yet be available is there any chance it might be in the near future???
Are there any Stylus Pens available that can write on paper while also writing on the iPad 2?
I am a very heavy-handed person and am scared I will somehow damage (Scratching the screen, accidently pressing down too hard, etc.) the iPad 2 should I try and use a Stylus on the screen.
Should this product not exist: If I were to use an available Stylus (Which are good and which are bad??) would there be a problem with both the Stylus and my hand touching the screen at the same time? When I write my fingers and hand both touch the paper, and so I am worried I will make a useless purchase.
iPad 1 released in 2010. iPad 2 released in 2011. iPad 3 released in 2012?
Does anybody know if Apple is currently working on or close to completing the iPad 3? I do not wish to buy the iPad 2 at the end of December and then have a newer model with better hardware upgrades come out 2 or 3 months later.
I understand that technology advances quickly, but will iPad 2 continue to be the world's leading tablet device or is Apple going to release the next 'world's leading tablet device' soon?
I wish to thank any and every person who responds to this. I know this is a lot of questions, but to me the iPad 2 means paying up a lot of money. I work part-time at a Boys and Girls Club and I have to make every cent count. The iPad 2 seems to be an absolutely amazing device and I truly hope that it will be the best product to fulfill my needs. I must make a decision soon because Santa Claus is on his way!
Again, thank you for your responses and for your time!
    Hunter Shelton

The ipad is certainly no replacement for a computer/laptop.
It is used in conjunction with a laptop/computer. It is simply a big ipod/iphone.
I would not even consider the ipad for your needs.

  • IPAd saying not recognising server, won't sync with phone, not let me apps???

Ok so I have been travelling South America for 3 months. In the first 6?weeks my iPAd and I phone were syncing and working well. When I updated my phone and iPad to the 7.o2 my iPad started asking for my apple account which then was coming up incorrect. I reset this, but nothing came to my nail. I answered the questions, but it still wasn't recognising the password. My photos weren't syncing anymore, I'm not able to access iTunes or apps. When I try to log onto Facebook from Safari, it comes up weird and in a list of normal writing. My iPad says it does not recognise the server.
Everything is working well on my iPhone, but really need my iPad for travelling essentials which is the reason I bought it. Downloading books, music ,games , photos to fb etc.
Can someone please help?? I've tried resetting the iPad, but nothing. My email address is my id so this is only used.
There is no email address for apple support and only a number which would cost a bit from Peru
    Thanks
    Sheryl

You can try resetting your iPad and iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.
There are many ways to reach applesuppohttp://www.apple.com/support/contact/ depending on where you are.

  • IPad is slow in processing Thai characters

    Hi
I'm Thai and I use my iPad a lot for reading and writing. The iPad slowness has been an issue for me for so long. At first, I thought it was some apps that heavily use resources of my iPad, so I tried closing all inactive apps or restarting which doesn't help. The problem occurs only occasionally, so I decided to be patient and live with it. However, lately I found that this slowness seems to related with processing or displaying a lot of Thai characters.
The first app that the behavior is obvious is iBooks. It takes a good amount of time (minutes) to load a Thai book with about 200 pages, and many seconds just to flip a page. I have another English book that longer than thousand pages and it opens almost instantly without waiting for flipping through pages.
Safari is the other app that shows the same behavior. It takes a lot of patience to read a page with a lot of Thai characters. It freezes and unresponsive when I scroll down the page or click the link so many times. I even used to think that my iPad really freezes, but it will come back if I just wait long enough. Never had this happened on English pages.
The last app that I found this occurs noticeably and I just tested it intentionally today is DayOne, a journal app. My journal writing (in Thai) became painful that I needed to switch to use my macbook instead because of typing lag. I used to blame the bluetooth keyboard and the app itself. Today I copied a pretty long English article into my journal entry and then continued to write after it. The lag was minimal and didn't affect my writing, so I switched to Thai. After only 5-6 lines, the typing lag came back to the point that I can't continue. I tried deleting only the Thai part and the problem solved!
This is very strange to me and please correct me if you think I reach a wrong conclusion, but this is what I've observed. If I remember correctly this issue has been occurring after upgrading to iOS 7, and it is an iPhone issue as well. It's just not obvious because I don't read and write this much on iPhone. If anybody have seen this and know the solution or have any suggestions please let me know. Thank you in advance.

The only things you can do on an iOS device are to restart apps as suggested by Lance or reset the device:

Do anybody know when or where can I get the Traditional Chinese Hand Writing Input for ipad
There is no separate Traditional Chinese input of any sort on the iPad yet, but I have seen reports that you can use the Simplified Chinese Handwriting Input to create Traditional Chinese characters. Try it and let us know if it works.
Also tell Apple you want this added:

  • Clavier virtuel du ipad en minuscule/ Lowercases on the ipad?

Je suis orthophoniste et plusieurs jeunes en difficultés pour qui je travaille découvrent le plaisir de l'écriture sur ipad. Certains d'entre eux trouveraient toutefois plus vite les lettres qu'ils cherchent si elles étaient affichées en minuscule sur le clavier virtuel du ipad. Connaissez-vous une application qui peut faire ça? Est-ce qu'Apple envisage cette idée dans une future mise à jour?
    Merci!
I'm a speech pathologist working with young students who experience difficulties in writing and reading. Writing on the ipad is often very usefull for them, but some would find easily the letters they want to use if they would not be in uppercases. Is there a way to see the lowercases on the ipad? Do you think Apple will integrate this functionality eventually?
    Thank you!

That option is not in the current list of Settings > General > Keyboards, but users have convinced Apple to add international keyboards in the past.  Give Apple feedback, and get others to do the same and maybe you will eventually get the keyboard layout you need.

  • IPad Air 1 / iPad Air 2 screen color differences

    Hi
I have two iPad Air 1's, fairly new, and just got iPad Air 2. When kept side by side (see pictures below: iPad Air 1 on left, Air 2 in middle and another iPad Air 1 on right. See the color differences on screen? How do I know which one is accurate? Why do the screen colors vary for a giant like Apple which is in pursuit of perfection?
Note that the Air 2 has now been returned: After placing the screen protector, the "superiority" of Air 2 screen was diminished and I found lesser difference between Air 1 and 2 screen, not worth spending the extra $!!!
See pictures below. Please also visit http://displaymate.com/iPad6_ShootOut.htm that says Air 1 usually has 7,041K vs iPad Air 2 that has 7,355K color temperature of screen, so iPad Air 2 (in center below) should have been more "blue-er" than the Air 1's on either side which does not seem to be the case! I am posting this to ask experts how to determine which is most accurate screen color and how to make sure I get iPad from the "right" batch? Any help/opinions? Thanks so much!

    Hi Churych620, Thanks for writing!
The iPad Air 2 in middle is definitely more pale than iPad Air 1 on the right-most side of picture, whereas it should be the opposite. It may be possible that the Air 1 on the very right may be erroneously too blue!
I just wanted to find out how to determine which is the best "white point" or display color temperature and how can I possibly select a good piece? Also I don't understand why Air 1's on wither side have their displays that different color temperatures!
    Thanks!

  • Should I pick the Macbook Air/Pro or the Dell XPS 13?

    Hello everyone!
I'm a 10th grade student in a international school, where we are allowed to use laptops instead of our regular notebooks. In my class no one uses a notebook, so I would be the first one.
My idea came from the fact that I broke my arm, and am unable to write normally for the next 3 months, as my hand is in a cast. I am currently writing on my iPad, which is nice, as I can only use my left hand for typing. I didn't really think much of it, but after few days I realised how easy it is to type on a tablet instead of on a piece of paper.
I took my exams on a PC and I was easily able to write with my left hand only. The experience was much better, as I was able to erase all my mistakes/ rewrite someting I didn't like… but let's get to the point.
After I finish my iGCSE's, I'll be going to the IB diploma programme. It is very rigorous and requires a lot of work, so a laptop would be very helpful. The three laptops I want to choose  between are:
    1. 13" Macbook Air
    2. 13" Macbook Pro
    3. New Dell XPS 2015 13" (http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-13-9333/pd?oc=fncwp1512h)
Now I know about the rumors of the new Macbook Air 12" with retina display, but the idea of having one port only doesn't appeal to me. I currently have an iMac 27" late 2013, along with an iPad and an iPhone. It is better to stick to apple just for the whole sync. between all devices, or is the Dell better in terms of performance? The ultrabook would be used for typing essays, editing videos (I'm doing film at school, so we get assignments like that pretty often) and of course web browsing. Gaming isn't really a priority, but to play some easy-going games such as garry's mod or turbo dismount on the go would be nice.
So what do you guys this is the best pick? I want the laptop to last another three years before I go to uni, and that's the reason I want to go for either the mid-spec. MacBook Pro/Air or the fully spec. Dell XPS 13. Price plays a role here, as I can only pay max. 1500$ for it, so I cannot afford the fully spec. MacBook Pro 13".
Ps. I really like the touchscreen in the Dell XPS 13, but does it affect the battery life much? It's really important that it lasts at least 8 hours a day, as I start school really early in the morning, and finish late in the afternoon.
    Thank you for your answer,
    mac117
