Writing on bbm is completely backwards.

When I am writing a message in bbm the entire sentence is backwards.  It ends up starting with a  "." and all lettering is completely mirrored.  Any suggestions other than taking out the battery, (which is what I've been doing)  I've taken it to be looked at and apparently they'd never heard of the backwards writing.

AND it does this ONLY in BBMessenger... not email or SMS text messages?

    I am willing to help.
I don't understand when you say "it never showed up and when it did it kept..."
what did you do differently so that some times, the BBm icon disappeared, and some other times the BBm icon was available and clickable ?
What Bold you do have ? With which OS version?
What is the exact error message that appears when you say "files missing" ?
in the Application management, what is the version number of BBm ?

  • Writing Failed Completed

    Hi everyone,
I have done my homework with Encore, checked the FAQ for any software that may interfere with the program etc.
I am having a problem with ONE project. I recently filmed an all-day event and it turned out to be 4 separate DVDs worth of content. Now when I went to burn each individual disc (One for the morning, one for afternoon, and two for the night) three of them worked fine, they play in my computer, my DVD player and other DVD players that I have also tested. Also, with those 3 DVDs, when the writing is completed, Encore prompts me with "Writing Complete." However, when the fourth disc is completed the prompt I see is "Writing Failed Completed", exactly like that. I thought that was a bit strange so I tested in my computer first and nothing happened, the DVD drive was trying to play (it seemed like it WANTED to play it) but nothing happened. Same exact thing in two seperate DVD players (seemed like it wanted to play but nothing happened).
These 4 projects are almost identical (only difference being the video file I am using for the different projects) the menus are the same, the routing is the same, the links are the same (essentially I copied one menu and just pasted it for use on the other projects).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
    Tony

    Ruud,
    Thank you so much!
I, too, have no idea what was going on with it. Even when I wrote the image file, Encore STILL propmted me with the "Writing Files. Failed Completed" so I was skeptical if your idea was going to work. Anyhow, it worked great and the DVD plays just like all the other ones!!
    Thank you again!
    Tony

  • BBM problem with 8530

Hi.  I have used BBM in the past with a couple of friends that also have the Blackberry Curve phones.  My husband just got a Storm and we are trying to set up BBM so that we can use it.  However, requests are listed as pending authorization, but no one seems to ever receive a notification on their phone that the other person is requesting them as a contact.  Any ideas?  Is this a problem across the different models?

Hi Oceanauto and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
To clarify, it appears that only messages between you and your Wife and Daughter, seem to be effected? Have them remove you from their BBM list completely then have them invite you to BBM.
Also, am I safe to assume you are all connected with the same wireless network provider?
    Thanks.

  • 5.1 Preferences/Cookies and Private Browsing gone haywire - BACKWARDS

There is something gone wrong, all haywire with the new version of Safari at 5.1.  The Cookies settings in the Prefs has "Block" settings, and I have it set at "ALWAYS" and yet it allows for me to sign in to any webpage with my name and password, whereas before I couldn't. At the same time, if I use "Private Browsing" and set that, it actually blocks my Cookies!!!! whereas before all it did was not remember History.   Somebody messed up the programming and got this one completely backwards, this should be the other way around.
Cookies set to ALWAYS should block all cookies and Private Browsing should not block cookies just not remember history.
This is a major blunder. Needs immediate update fix, please.

    2. At least for me, the forums are not letting me 'reply' to posts, I am getting past this by going to 'advanced' and posting from there.

  • JWS not backward JNLP compatible?

Unsupported JNLP version in launch file 0.2. Only version 1.0 is supported with this version.
If I upgrade JWS then I can't run any of my older JNLP files nor any of the older JNLP files out on the internet. This is absurd. So if I update my JNLP files then I have to run around to all my users and upgrade their JWS. Reason enough for me not to use JWS.

version 0.2 was an early pre-release of Java web Start (then called jnet) from before the jnlp specification was ever finalized. There is no way to be backward compatible with a format from before the first released version. There are only 2 real versions of the jnlp specification, "1.0" (of which "1.0.1" is a flavor) and "1.5".
"1.5" is completely backward compatible with "1.0" .
Any app written to run on 1.0 will work fine with a 1.5 implementation.
Any app written to run on 1.5, can be made to also run on 1.0 implementations, simply by specifying jnlp spec="1.0+". The new elements in the 1.5. jnlp file format will not cause any problem when run in an implementation of the 1.0 spec, they will just not be there.
If a developer chooses to, he can specify <jnlp spec="1.5+" ...
This is saying he will not allow his application to run on any system without 1.5 or later implementation of JNLP. This is the developers choice.
When this happens Java Web Start should prompt the user to download a conforming implementation, such as jre 5.0, but as of yet Java Web Start dosn't have that capability.
Whats worse, it is not the new version of Java Web Start that needs this new functionality, but the old one. to that end there is a project underway for mustang, including the rfe: 6198919 - Deployment Browser Control, to allow web pages to query the existing jres on the client and branch to download new jre is necessary.

  • Development App reading backward on iPad

    Hello,
I have created a Folio in Indesign CS6, made up of 8 different articles (ie 8 different Indesign files). I have added these articles to the Folio in the order that I wish them to appear. (I am using Viewer Version 26)
I then went through the "Create App" process with Adobe App Builder, however I have found the Demonstration version that I downloaded to my iPad for testing is reading completely backward. Funnily enough, the Chapter list on the iPad is in the correct order, but the pages themselves are completely back-to-front. Is there something I could have done wrong in the building process to cause this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Did you select right edge binding when you created the folio?

  • Would Like to Get an IPod but I Need Some Help

    Hey-
I tried an iPod (2 that is) when the first ones came out, and I broke them from installing the software when it was already installed. (at least that is what I was told). But it said to begin by installing the provided software.) I still see how far they have come so I am here wanting any advice on what is available and what some iPod- experts would recommend for someone who has a hard time with technology stuff like this. (Plus the good am/FM radios to use while exercising are getting to be nearly nonexistent.)
I have done some serious reading up on them and have looked up some of the iPod Manuals that people write to help the less "commonsense" people like myself.
I am really interested in the iPod classic since it seems to have the least of what I really do not want like videos (which it might have) more basic controls are a plus, and the ability to set it up so I can upload the music in iTunes.
I hope somebody or several people have some recommendations, things to help me that I would not think of, if the earplugs are not the best for exercising, do you know of a brand that is?
Any pointers learned from experience and places to go to help me understand what it is when I actually do get one, etc.
I really appreciate any help in this broad area, even if you think my post is lame So, in advance--THANKS!

HI! Just read your post and the reply by roaminggnome and I would say he gives you all the information you need to know except for what color you like.
I likely know less than you even do regarding the iPod but, that said, I have owned four of them. However, all bought within the last 18 months. So, I do not know of what it used to be like before then. All I can say is that I am a PC guy so Apple stuff didn't really catch my attention until I started listening the Rush Limbaugh to get the news about politics that the press seems to think is too much for us or something. I didn't really have three hours a day during the time he is on so I then heard about "podcasts." I found that I could listen to him anytime I wanted to if I just downloaded the podcasts he had of his show each day. So, I backed into the iPod or MP3 player rather than looked for one because they were a new item. I am now 59 years old and have been using computers since 1965 and I got out of the "Its new so I have to own the best and the latest" thing in my 40's. Now, having grown up, I buy what I really want because it will actually improve my life somehow, rather than just to show off.
The point being that I had become somewhat "hardware illiterate" but when my son came home from doing 5 years in the Army - doing war stuff, and we got to know each other again, I realized that my son had become me when I was his age. He had +it all+ five times over. (The pay is much better than when I was in!) He had iPods, iPhones, etc. all over the place but, like I said, until I needed something to listen to Rush, I didn't even ask about it.
So, when I finally got one, I really knew nothing! I had to read the directions (I am a CPA so I know how to do that.) to find out what to do. I think I remember that things had to be done in a certain order so read the directions. Sorry if what I am remembering is the directions to something else. But I found that reading the directions sure saves me a lot of work anyway - especially in the computer software area. I found the directions easy and had no problems whatsoever. In that way, roaminggnome is quite correct. It is so automatic that even a cave man could do it. Seriously. Learning iTunes seems harder to me than the iPod thing, however. Reading some of the iPod stuff on the net (a book is not included except for setting it up but running it requires going online.) is quite worth it when trying to use it the way you like.
The iTunes Store is where I get the free podcasts and found that lots of shows have them - especially political venues. However, you can buy almost anything you want to listen to from their store. It was a fabulously ingenious thing to create because it all works so well together (great marketing idea) (Store, Podcasts, and iPod) and they make money almost every step of the way. Its like an addiction after a while anyway. I need another song, I need another song, I'd do anything to get a podcast of the guy I just heard on the radio! And like that.
It all works quite easily and is about as hard as turning on your computer and plugging your iPod into the special cord they provide with it - which is always plugged into a USB Port on my computer. Plugging it in starts up iTunes and, depending on how you set it up in iTunes, it begins to upload to your device automatically (My son bought me the classic for Christmas last year and I always use that one now,) So, all you have to do each day, once it is set up, is to plug it in and walk away. It will load up your choices and charge the battery after that. Of course, you already know all that don't you?
I use my iPod when I work out. I do that twice a day for about a total of three hours at least five times a week. I am in remission from a terminal disease so I want to be in the best shape possible for when I end up with cancer to try and make it through the treatments. Being 59 and seeing how the government is going to trash our health care just so he can cover millions of illegals and after reading the entire House bills with addendums, I know that my chances of getting a liver now is absolutely nil. There is no use keeping an old guy alive who can add nothing to the greater good, right? At least that is what Robert Reich (A Clinton appointee) who advises Obama said. "If you are in your 80's, we aren't going to waste medicine on you just so you can last a few more months. We're going to let you die." I appreciate honesty even when it doesn't go my way. At least I know what I am up against now. But the reality is, in a socialist environment, I will be a liability - a toxic asset and will be thrown out like yesterday's news. The country I once put my life on the line for - voluntarily - thinks of me as a problem now. The greatness of the individual and the American dream had died now and after being able to experience actual freedom in the 50's and 60's, having it taken away from me has left me so I do not really care about dieing anymore. I would rather die free than live in chains. If China wants to, they will literally own us if they do now cut Obama's nightmare borrowing and spending off quick. (Did you know that Obama is counting a raise as a new saved or created job?) Who the **** let him get away with such a phony number without learning to quantify how he gets to these numbers anyway? Talk about pulling numbers out of thin air!) The press would have NO idea how he gets these numbers, they just print it. We now have an affirmative action president who is too big to fail. And kids are now forced to learn Obama praise songs in schools. They can't read or write but they can chant Obama rap in over 20 different schools (See breitbarttv.com for proof. They did the exposes on the Acorn criminal business - of which have been incorporated under 300 different business names but are all Acorn and SEIU and share the same offices many times. This is a nightmare akin to the way Hitler took control of the citizens. He started by owning their bodies because of "health care." Once they own your health - they own you!) It lead to him declaring Jews unfit to live and that is the excuse he used for euthenasia of the old, sick, and Jew alike. He wanted to create the perfect German. That is what can happen if you sell out your personal freedoms for a thing you may hardly need for most of your life - health care. You can pay for your own before you are 50 for the most part and get catastrophic insurance for those kinds of sicknesses, like mine, that most people never even get until their 80's, if at all, and be far ahead financially. Getting old is not a sickness. It is a wearing out. Are old people worthless because they finally wore out living life and paying taxes in American now? Sick! But instead of free insurance, like these young kids foolishly think they are going to get will cost anyone who has a job, it costs actual money and they will be forced to buy this crappy insurance since all private insurances will go broke trying to compete with an entire government that does not have to make a profit because they can tax us for all the money they need (Once unconstitutional and some of this still is.)
Anyway, now that I learned from roaminggnome about the disk drive being located in my iPod rather than just a flash drive, I will start to use my old 2 gig one for working out. Mine is the 120 gig size and I hardly use any of it except for a few TV shows I missed (Yes it has a screen) and music and podcasts to listen to while I work out. I use about 3 or 3.5 gigs of the 120 possible.
One thing that roaminggnoe said about the earlier ones is that my 2 gig says it can allow me to use the drive as another one on my computer or something like that. So that puzzles me.
I have to mention about the ear buds though. The ones that come with it do not have a better sound than ones you can buy. However the ones that come with it are best for working out if you use the bud type rather than the earphone type I see some using at the club, The ones that come with it allow air to get into your ear which keeps the buds dry from sweat. The ear buds that you can buy that have better sound allow your ear canal to fill up with sweat so listening to music or whatever is like listening to it under water! No kidding! I had to take them out while one the orbital machine and try and dry my ears out while jumping up and down on that machine without falling off. The Apple buds stay dry and you can still hear others around you that might be trying to get your attention there.
Anyway, sorry I wasted so much of your time. I just wanted to assure you that even one so uninformed as I could use the new iPods, right out of the box I think it is great and I am glad I now know how to use it. I just wish I could learn how to download the podcasts in the order done on the air of shows longer than one hour. Each podcast is one hour and they always download in the wrong order - completely backwards from how they played the show. I also wish I could have it automatically play them in order instead of having to stop and select each one each hour. The music shuffles, why not the podcasts? I do find that a bit strange. Oh well, you've likely already made the purchase so you can just delete this rather than to waste your time reading it.
Have a great day! (Don't you just hate hearing that? Especially in stores where you know they don't mean a word of it.) I have been kidding you about making this so long. I did most of it for a lark (talk about too much time on one's hands huh?)but I did mean to let you know about my using the iPod with no problems. roaminggnome said everything I did in a few sentences. Good writing.

  • Used z61m has some serious issues,can u help?

most times works fine, can spend hours on it with no issues.but here are all the things it does.1)sometimes when you cut it on the pointer wont move, and i have to cut it off and back on(sometimes numerous) til works.2)sometimes you can not type in at all in search windows,or email, again have to cut off and on.3)sometimes when writing, say an email,it will just start your line in the middle of a paragraph youve already written.4)sometimes when writing the words actually come out completely backwards.5)if you attach an external mouse and its plugged in when you cut computer on,it beeps at you and will not let you cut it on til you unplug.6)and this is apparently the most serious, when logging off or simply cutting computer off the dreaded "blue screen" appears.i have no idea how to do what it says to correct.it starts" a stop process has been detected and windows has been shut down to protect computer, etc, etc.so is this to much?should i go out and shoot it.

i don't know whether you still have the recovery partition active.
So let's give it a try.
Reboot your computer, then press the thinkvantage button (the blue button next to the volume button on the keyboard).
If you have the partition, then it will take you into a new menu, where you can select restore to factory condition.
And if you can do that, then it is great, just follow the prompt.

  • Issue in trasfering records to file using Transfer (in Binary mode)

    Hi all,
I am using a trasfer statement to write the contents of internal table onto a file in Apllication server.
    My  code is
       LOOP AT i_file.
           TRANSFER  i_file-rec_data TO i_pf_names-v_name.
       ENDLOOP
I am opening the file in binary mode. Its not writing the second record totally. Each of my record is 432 characters in length. Irrespective of  no. of records in my internal table its writing only 1 rec completely and half of second record.
I am aware that opening a file in binary mode ignores the line breaks.
So, opening in binary mode should write 1000 characters. Its writing 511 characters and stopping. Its not writing further records though my internal table is having records.
    Can you please help.

    Hi,
If you are viewing the application server file in AL11, you wont be able to view the total length of the file even though it is written. To confirm this use the transaction CG3Y and download the application server to presentation server and check if the whole of the record is written

  • How to Execute shell commands in OSB

    Team,
    My Requirement:
I have two sftp servers name ServerA and ServerB. Need to copy files from ServerA and place it on ServerB and change the file permissions to 777 after placing the files.
The user i am connecting to ServerB has the access to override file permissions.
    Steps
    1. With help of FTP adapter in OSB I am reading files from ServerA and writing on to ServerB  -- Completed and is working.
    2. How to override file permissions after placing the file ????? -- Yet to implement.
Please suggest me how can i accomodate 2nd step.
    Thanks,
    Suman V.

If by "execute shell commands" you mean actually
running a shell process (as opposed to just forking
and executing specified programs) then I'd advise
against it. The last thing you want is for the
clients to be running arbitrary commands on the
server. You don't want to make it possible for the
client to run "rm -fr /" on your server.Right.
I was assuming (perhaps with more optimism than is really warranted) that the OP was going to be in complete control of which commands were executed--that there'd be a small, fixed set in response to certain user actions.

  • Problem with Page Options in Print Module

Ltr 5  I chose to print photo info on the bottom of my print.  Chose Page Options and after the photo printed the writing on the bottom was backwards?

  • ICal Server - Can't log in with Kerberos?

Hello, I have been struggling the past few days getting ical server properly installed and configured to incorporate into our environment (just installed 10.6 server). I am very new to Kerberos, in fact never heard of it before getting into this, but would like to possibly use it as an authentication option. I have my master open directory installed and running, it says Kerberos is running, ldap as well as password server, all running. I created some test users in the LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 directory with open directory password types. I have opened ticket viewer and assigned tickets to these test users. In my Ical settings in server admin, I have authentication type set to kerberos. When I try to add an account via my ical client on my workstation (also 10.6 just installed), it searches and I get the message:
"Ical found the CALDAV server "servername" but couldn't log in with the user name "username". Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then try again"
If I click next and go to the calendar server options screen I select Ical server template, the port changes to 8443 I believe and I change it back to the default of 8008, and click use kerberos v5 for authentication, and uncheck Use SSL as I have that off. I then get the message of:
"Authentication failed. The server does not support Kerberos authentication."
Now, if I go completely backward, and change my iCal server authentication type to Digest, or Any Method, I can log in using any of my local user names and passwords and any open directory password users. This is great because it shows me the system is working, and I can get in, however what I don't quite understand is if I log in with a different/various usernames and passwords, I get a separate calendar for each login. When watching the apple demo video of Ical server here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bzMTpLv-EE&feature=related , it seems there is one calendar, and multiple users are logging in using different logins, but accessing the same calendar.
So I guess my main questions are, why isn't Kerberos working, and how do I get it to work, am I missing something? And how do I get Ical server to operate the way it is in the video, so people log in with different various logins but are able to see the same "work" calendar as shown in the video.
I appreciate any help/insight. Thank you.

One additional piece of information that I don't know if it is a bug or if anyone else has this problem, but when I am logged in with a user, and access my address panel via my ical client, none of my locations, resources, people, or groups show up, every category is empty. However, if I start to type a search for a location name or user that I know the name of that I have added, THEN it will show up and I can click/select it. Almost behaving completely backwards, any ideas why these are not showing up without using the search??? Thank you again.

  • QS 867 Mhz processor in a QS 2002 motherboard??

    Hi there.
I'm trying to get a Quicksilver 867 Mhz processor (with L3 cache) to run in a Quicksilver 2002 motherboard, but it ain't working. I've been pretty consistent in my troubleshooting, but before I toss it out (or try soldering the L3 cache onto a QS 733 mhz cpu... muhaaahhuuhhahhh), I'd thought I'd throw this out for some feedback in these lovely discussion pages.
I did earlier get this cpu to run on a Digital Audio motherboard and it booted up no problem - even the L3 cache was recognized. But it was unstable (unstable, but very fast...). I had originally thought that the motherboard was faulty (I got the exact same errors with the original 466 mhz cpu and a QS 733 mhz cpu - both a digital audio and a quicksilver psu have checked out ok in a different machine). I went through much trouble, troubleshooting, and eventually got a new/used Quicksilver motherboard, only to find out that the actual trouble-maker was a piece of RAM. Which was very insidious, because the mac(s) booted okay (the system profiler even said it passed), it only caused problems when I'd open certain applications, such as Firefox or System Preferences (which would eventually crash), or tried to do a new OS install or did a software update (none of which would complete, either in panther or tiger). I'm thinking it might have been a high density piece of ram that got pass me. I think Techtool said there was a problem with a piece of RAM earlier, but I thought it was refering to the new piece of 512mb (which had come from another quicksilver) and I tested that piece in other machines and it was fine, so I discounted it as the source of the errors. It turned out to be a piece I already had (256 mb hynix) and which I thought I'd used before with no problems, but I guess not (I had a couple of extra sticks).
Anyway, back to the current problem, now even with the new (tested) quicksilver board (it's a 2002 - but that shouldn't matter), the QS 867 mhz processor won't work and I don't know why! It did run in the digital audio board, only exhibiting the same errors as the other cpu's due to the bad piece of ram. It hasn't been treated any differently than the other 3 processors I used testing, in fact, probably even more carefully, and they are all ok.
It sometimes will boot to the apple OS X icon but stays there. I also get either a single beep, two beeps, three beeps, four beeps or no beeps at all (ie no power light, just the red light of the board, fans running, etc). I don't know if it got damaged earlier when testing (I did try it on another digital audio motherboard that I think was damaged in shipping), but I'm very careful (and have done a lot of computer updgrading, peecee and mac). The only thing I can think of is that when I first plugged this cpu into the latest QS motherboard, I tried to boot up without putting the heatsink on it first (not sure if this is important or not, it got hot but so did the 733mhz cpu which I'm using now - and nothing smells burned). I heard two little pop sounds, then the computer shut down (as it did before... many times with the other motherboard). I did also find out later that one of the cpu mounting posts wasn't tight to the board (it had snapped from the screw when I tightened it - didn't know my own strength), but usually no contact to the board would just cause no response, not a short to the cpu - and once again, the 733mhz cpu which is fine, went thru the same thing. I did get it to boot after this to the apple os x icon (I let it sit for a day). The motherboard is fine - I'm running from it now with the QS 733 mhz processor (and from whence I troubleshooted the bad piece of ram). And I've methodically zapped pram, reset the pmu, removed/changed batteries, took this part out, put that part in, threatened, cajoled, even sang to it... til I'm literally blue in the face - to no avail!
Any suggestions? Or it this processor fried? Or is there something I'm missing (maybe in regards to the QS 2002 motherboard)? I've searched and nothing comes up that I have to do differently, and when I put the old 733 mhz cpu back in it (not changing anything else), everything runs fine (a lot slower, but fine, as I wipe a regretful tear away).
    Thanks for any input.

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 mb (PC flashed into Mac - no problems anywhere)
ACARD 6280M PCI card (2 drives on it - but the 867mhz cpu didn't like a drive directly attached to the board either)

    Result: Passed
This configuration has been running stably using the QS 733 Mhz processor (and ran stably before with an earlier qs motherboard in a different machine). So unless there is something different with the 2002 motherboard, and all research indicated it completely backward compatible, nothing I have installed is causing the problem. I have stripped the machine(s) down to the original configurations at some point, and...

Can anyone tell if it would?
Yes, if it fits into the slot.
She was asking me if their is a way that a password can be put on the system to prevent him from getting into the Mac?
Use the Accounts pane of System Preferences to disable automatic login and log out or use Fast User Switching to change to another account as needed.
