Writing on the Yoga 3Pro

Hello,
Recently I bought this item for writing by hand on my Yoga 3Pro.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181410475076?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
These don't work on my system.  I can write with my finger but this stylus won't  write.   Is there a certain type of stylus needed or a setting that  I am not seeing?
Thanks
Steve

It works fine on pretty much any touchscreen device, including the Y3P. However, at least when used with OneNote (immersive or desktop), you really don't get the same experience as with a real digitizer (e.g., my old Samsung 7 Slate). For one thing, OneNote "sees" the stylus as a finger, so you can't draw and scroll the page without switching in/out of drawing mode. Furthermore, precision is limited.
I didn't know that Wacom's Paper app is available on Windows:

I'll need to try it.
You need a Capacitive Stylus....where is  the setting or which keyboard of the 4 options do  you pick?
I love drawing....Thanks.

When I am writing an email, I get an alert message that says “The message could not be copied or moved to the drafts folder. Writing to the folder failed. To gain disc space, choose Empty Deleted and choose Compact Folders and try again.”
If I do that, I get a message saying “There was an error copying to the Sent folder,, retry?”
If I retry it sends the uncompleted email. All I can do is keep deleting the message and carry on. Then the whole business might repeat itself.

Because the location for each song in your library is on your hard drive.  If the hard drive isn't there, how can iTunes play it?
You'll have to move/copy the music from your hard drive to your computer's hard drive.
Basically, EASIEST way to do all this, if you don't care about your play counts, etc...
-Delete EVERYTHING from iTunes, so that your library is now empty.
-Go to "Advanced" inside of the "Preferences" window, found in the "Edit" drop-down.  You can also access Preferences by pressing Ctrl+, (Press Ctrl and the comma key)
-Change your iTunes Media Folder Location to something simple, but on your computer. I use C:/iTunes.  Make sure "Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized" and "Copy files to...." are both checked.  You can close Preferences now.
-Now, drag and drop your music from your hard drive into your iTunes library.  iTunes will automatically add the music to your library, as you would expect, and also creates a copy of each file to place into that iTunes Media Folder you just created.
    Shouldn't have any more problems...

  • Can't Make a Decision on the Yoga 2 Pro

Am in the market for a new laptop and love the look of the Yoga 2 Pro.  It has the specs that I'm looking for - i5, 256gb SSD, 8gb RAM - but I keep hesitating over the 3200x1800 resolution.
I am a middle-aged guy (with middle-aged eyes) who will be using the laptop for typical e-mail and internet browsing as well as heavy MS Office, particularly Excel.  I looked at a Y2P in Best Buy today and in Desktop Mode even the basic taskbar icons were tiny.  Resolution was set at the native 3200x1800 and the scaling was set at Largest.
From what I understand, Windows Store Apps appear just fine, but many desktop apps have scaling problems.  Is that a true statement?  What about Excel?  Are the menus and cells the same size as I would be seeing on my older Windows 7 screen?
If I change the resolution to 1080, will everything remain fairly crisp or will it blur?
The Yellow and Wifi issues are fixable, but I can't get a handle on this high res thing.  I'd hate to pay $1k for machine and have to hobble it to make it usable until the software catches up.  If you use your Y2P like I would (i.e. MS Office, etc.), do you find yourself cursing at small menus and icons, or are you working away in complete bliss?
    Thanks.

I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, but about resolutions:
TL;DR: If 1600x900 is an option, you shouldn't get any of the traditional blurring caused by changing resolutions.
The long version with math and some history about Apple and Lenovo:
Yes, changing a 3200x1800 native screen to 1920x1080 will make it blurry. Why? Because 3200 cannot neatly divided into 1920 and 1800 cannot neatly divided into 1080. You can't split pixels, so you get some blur as the monitor tries to round-off some things.
Buuuut, if you can set it to 1600x900 (the original Yoga's resolution, incidentally), then you might be OK. It's exactly half the native and shouldn't cause any blurring.
But, I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, so I don't know if 1) 1600x900 is an option and 2) if there are any other weird things that happen.
But, the normal blurring that happens because you change from native resolution on an LCD is because...in the end...we can't make half-pixels. You have to use integers.
Apple was smart about this, actually:
    iPhone 3GS: 480x320
    iPhone 4 (first w/ Retina-branding): 960x640
Perfectly double -> no blurring. Made the whole transition a lot smoother.

  • Writing on the screen using a stylus is really poor

I have a Twist and I teach using this laptop.  When I teach, I will often write on the laptop screen.  For instance, in PowerPoint you can use the Pen functionality to write on the slides and the audience can see what you have written as you write.  I have always used a Bamboo Tablet to do this.  However, I assumed the Twist touchscreen would make the Bamboo tablet obsolete.  However, the writing on the Twist touch screen is terrible... unless I am missing something.
When I write using the Bamboo tablet, I can get nice smooth letters.  When I write using the touchscreen the letters get squared off.  The touchscreen is unable to handle it.  PLease see below.  The red was written using a capacive stylus with the touchscreen.  The stylus was a Jot Classic by Adonit.  The blue was written using a tablet that plugs into the usb port.  The tablet was a Bamboo Tablet and the stylus that cam with it.  Do you see how the red letters tend to have a lot of straight lines while the blue is nice and smooth.  Is this just a limitation with using the touch screen that I will have to live with?   I have seen other claim they do note taking on the Twist.  I can't believe that after my experience.  What am I missing?

The Bamboo has a much higher sensitivity to pen input compared to the Twist. I think that what you are seeing is a result of the difference in the ability to detect the pen between the two. To make the Bamboo tablet obsolete, you would probably need to purchase an x230t, ThinkPad Tablet 2, or other product with a digitizer that supported a pen. The Twist is only really designed to be poked at with fingers.
You might have better luck with a larger capacitive stylus since the Jot classic has a very fine tip.

    Hi,
I am using an openhub destination to output my csv file. Its a local workstation share folder. Data Provider got around 50000 rows (expecting a 40MB file). When ever I execute the DTP, it run for first data package and fell down with below error message.

Sometimes the file get created with partial entries, most of the times the file wont even get created. I created new dtps and tried the same. Changed the package size, servers, parallel processes etc, but of no use.
    Thanks Neo

    Hi Neo,
Did you try to define the logical/physcal file path from tcode FILE? If not can you try to use this option and see if it works.
Also can you change your DTP settings by reducing the data packet size to see if your facing this error message?

You serial number will appear after Boot ROM.  Do not copy hear.

  • Report Subscription - Failure writing file - The network path was not found.

I have several subscriptins which have been working fine.
All suddenly stopped with same error - Failure writing file - The network path was not found.
The subscriptions write to a number of different network paths, all of which exist and are accessible.

Is this a repeating failure or one time occurrence?  If it's a one time occurrence it could have been a short network outage.  If repeating look and ensure the user that the subscription is using to write the files still has the appropriate permissions,
is enabled, not locked, etc.  Other things to possibly consider would be flushing the dns cache on the server.  It's possible a firewall rule could have been put in place that would block the ability to access said location as well.  The best
thing you can do is start by asking "what has changed".

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be a number. It's automatically copied to the Clipboard. Please paste it into a reply.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • Problem in writing to the file

I use this labview code to read and save some electrical measurement data from a set of instruments. I am having a problem that the code stops writing to the file after a while. It stops responding too. The only way to stop it then is to use the task manager and kill it. The code was written for an older version of labview but now I am using labview 9. Everything else seems updated but there's a section that uses Write characters to file vi and that may be causing the problem. I made a few futile attempts to change it. I would highly appreciate if someone takes a look at it and could tell me what's going wrong.

I will second aeastet's advice - please look into how state machines and producer/consumer loops work and use them.  Your program is very inefficient, but is very similar to what I would have written before I learned about state machines and producer/consumer loops.  Start with the LabVIEW help and go from there.  These forums and the National Instruments website can give you lots of help.
Two things that will help you for this particular problem:
At every loop iteration, you are opening the file, seeking to the end of it, appending data, then closing the file.  This is very slow and the code you use, as mentioned above, will not work if the file size exceeds 2GBytes.  I would recommend you open the file once, then use the write primitive to write to it until you finish, then close it.  You do not need the write character to file VI.  No seeking.  No repetitive opening and closing.  You can either open and close outside the loop, or use case structures and boolean flags (as you have done for other things) to open and close inside the loop.
After you write to the file, if you choose to graph, you are reopening the file, reading the entire thing, and plotting this data.  This is another major slowdown that will only get worse as your file gets bigger.  You would be far better off caching the data in a shift register and plotting it on demand.  It would probably take less memory, as well.  You may want to read the tutorial Managing Large Data Sets in LabVIEW.
One last tip.  You use Value properties to read and set the values of front panel controls.  Local variables are far faster (about three orders of magnitude).  However, do not make the mistake of using local variables for data storage.  Data is wires.  Local variables are a way to communicate to the front panel.  You seem to have this down, but a reminder to others reading this thread is in order.
Let us know if you need more explanation or help.  Good luck!

  • Do you recommend the Yoga 13 to your friends and coworkers?

I teaching training courses at about 20+ tech companies each year. This week was my first time using my new Yoga 13 as my presentation machine.
After class, 2 out of 13 students approached me and asked about the Yoga. They were in the market for a Windows 8 laptop and liked the Yoga's looks. This rarely happened with my old ThinkPad so it was an interesting development.
I had to tell them honestly that while it is a good-looking machine, it's too buggy for me to recommend. Then I listed all the issues, especially the poor wireless and loud fans.

After having this device since October and giving it a good work out, I'll list the bad things first:
    BAD:
Marginal Wifi performance-I went ahead and got a cheap WIFI usb adapter which works great.
Key "board" is a bit wierd feeling.
    GOOD:
*Expandability-Able to upgrade to 8 gb of memory and able to have 2-SSD devices.  I've got the original 128g SSD and   a second internal 256g SSD as well.  No other device in this class ahs that capability that I'm aware of, i.e. Dell, HP, etc.
    *Reliable-no problems yet
    *Fan noise is non-existant
    *Keys feel good
*Running Windows 8 Pro with no significant issues other than Windows 8 itself.
All in all, is it perfect?  No but  for my use, it serves the purpose.  Hope this helps.

I am creating a SharePoint 2010 Webpart, and I'd like to write to the console for debugging purposes. Unfortunately the command Console.Writeline doesn't seem to work for me. How do I fix this??

Unfortunately, the functionality you're looking for doesn't exist.  Web parts are primarily used for web applications and are built within class libraries, which have no console functionality at all. Therefore, prevents writing to the console.
Alternatively, you can use Visual Studio to debug the web part and step through the code using breakpoints.  Visual Studio 2010 allows you to Debug the web part by hitting "F5".
Here's a link for some resources to help you get started developing web parts for SharePoint 2010.
