  • Difference between Parent and Parent Curr Adjs

    Hi gurus,
    Kindly explain the difference between the Parent Adjs and Parent Curr Adjs.
    Thanks in advance

    Consider two members in the entity dimension "A" and "B" now both these members have a child as "C". Where "C" is the shared member. Now if you pass a Journal at <Parent Curr Adjs> of "C" then this journal entry has an affect on both the parents "A" and "B". Whereas if you pass an entry at <Parent Adjs> of"C" then you can also select the parent which you want to get affected by the same.
    Hope this is helpful

  • What is the differences between Parent Currency ,  [Parent] in value Dimension

    What is the differences between <Parent Currency>,  [Parent] in value Dimension? Could some one please provide in detail explanation with examples?

    Hi Tana
    Please see the Value dimension tree on page 213: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/hfm_admin.pdf
    Simple answer would be that [Parent] is <Parent Currency> plus <Parent Curr Adjs>, but this is probably not what you wanted to know
    <Parent Currency> and all Value members identified by opening and closing angle brackets ("<" and ">") are not "real" members, but just pointers to currency defined in the Value dimension. So if, for example, my entity has currency EUR and its parent has USD then when I input data on <Entity Currency> it appears on member "EUR". After running translation this amount converted to USD would appear on <Parent Currency> as well as on "USD" members. If I post a journal on <Entity Curr Adjs> it gets posted to Value member "EUR Adjs" and posting to <Parenty Curr Adjs> posts to "USD Adjs". In the database all of these members are stored in the set of tables called DCE (Currency subcube).
    When the data moves up the Value dimension from <Parent Curr Total> to [Parent] we see the brackets change. Square brackets ("[" and "]") identify members that belong to the Node. The Node is the unique relationship between a parent entity and each of its children. The eliminations and consolidation calculations would likely be different for each parent. Expanding my example, if my EUR entity has two parents both of which have currency USD, then posting a journal on <Parenty Curr Adjs> would apply to both consolidations, while [Parent Adjs] would be specific for a particular parent. Physically, Node members are stored in DCN tables (Parent subcube).
    I recommend the book "Oracle Hyperion Financial Management Tips & Techniques" by Peter John Fugere, Jr. to find out more.
    Hope this helps

  • Why we use Parent  parent adjs parent total in Value dimension in HFM

    Hi Experts
    Can any one plz give me an explanation for Why we use Parent, parent adjs and Parent total in Value dimension in HFM?
    regards
    Smilee

    Hi,
    As a quick answer, when you post a journal adjustment to <Parent Curr Adjs>, this adjustments affects all parent entities. In the contrary, if you post a journal adjustment to [Parent Adjs] then you must also select which of the parent entities should be affected by the journal (while all other parents will not be affected). In order for this discussion to be relevant, you must have your entity shared under multiple parents. If you have it under a single parent then this does not apply. Note that in order for this to work you must have AllowAdjFromChildren enabled

  • Unable to view ECA and PCA value dimension for Parent Entity

    Hi,
    Situation: There is a parent Enity in (INR) with about 5 children Entity ( also in INR). Application default currency is USD .
    Parent has ' allowadjfromchildren' selected and Children have 'allowAdjs' selected .
    When I pull up a data grid with Parent and children for a particular POV , I can see data in < Entity currency > , < Entitty curr Adj> , <parent curr> , <Parent Currency Adj> for all children , However I dont see the <Entity curr Adj > or < parent curr Adj> at the Parent Level .
    I can only see <entity currency> <entity curr total> and <parent curr>, <parent curr total> for the Parent .
    qs. 1 . is this standard functionality ? Since Adjustment was not made at parent level , those intersection of ECA and PCA for parent will remain empty ?
    qs 2 : Is there a way to roll up the sum of all children values in ECA into ECA at parent level ? rule change may be ?
    eg . If child 1 has 10 , child 2 has 20 and child 3 has 30 in ECA , then their Parent to have 60 in ECA.
    Currenty in our Appsettings we DO NOT have the Consolidationrules parameter selected .
    Not sure if i was clear , Will appreciate some thoughts and direction on this .
    Vik.

    Hi,
    Seeing that the currency is the same for the parent and children in your example, you will not see a difference between the children's <Entity Curr Adjs> and <Parent Curr Adjs>. In other words, if you post $10 to Child1 <Entity Curr Adjs>, you will also see that same amount in the <Parent Curr Adjs> - that is normal behavior and the child will only contribute the $10 to the parent. Because you have selected AllowAdjFromChildren HFM will allow you to post to [Parent Adjs] and [Contribution Adjs].
    Q1: Yes, the adjustments are made to the child and will form part of the <Entity Currency> amounts in the parent. The parent's adjustment value members will store journals to the parent.
    Q2: The sum of all the [Contribution Total] value members of the children will make up the <Entity currency> of the parent.
    Q3: No, you will see the 60 in <Entity Currency> of the parent -- the way it works in more detail below:
    EC + ECA = ECT;
    Trans to Parent currency and seperate journals to PCA;
    Security defines access to the [] nodes and if the parent has AllowAdjsFromChildren then [Parent Adjs] will be available;
    Rules apply to [Proportion] and [Elimination] giving [Contribution];
    Final adjustments allowed to [Contribution Adjs] to get to [Contribution Total]
    Parent <Entity Currency> is the sum of children [Contribution Total];
    Process starts again for the parent.

  • Difference between parent currency and parent in value dimension

    Hi
    Dear friends please tell me about following:
    1.Difference between <Parent Currency> and <Parent> in value dimension and its significance.
    2.Difference between <Parent Currency Adjs.> and <Parent Adjs.> in value dimension and its significance.

    When you have an entity which contributes to two or more parent entities, you can specify if an adjustment applies and contributes to all parent entities or the selected entity.
    1. Create the adjustment to <Parent Curr Adjs> and the adjustment value contributes to all parents.
    2. Create the adjustment to [Parent Adjs] and you can select which parent entity you want the adjustment value to contribute to.
    <Parent Currency> is where the translation happens.
    <Parent Curr Total> is the total of the translated value plus any adjustments applying to all parents -i.e. <Parent Curr Adjs>
    [Parent] simply carries the <Parent Curr Total> numbers to the next level of the value hierarchy
    [Parent Total] is the total of the previous level plus any adjustments applying to the specified parent -i.e. [Parent Adjs]

  • Entity Currency Adj, Parent Currency adj for Parent-child with same currenc

    Hi,
    In 11.1.2.1 I noticed that if parent and base entity currencies are same, entity currency and entity currency adjustments equal parent currency and parent currency adjustments respectively. If the currencies are different, the entity currency total gets translated to parent currency and post that, we can pass adjustments at PCA level.
    I had an understanding that Entity Currency total always rolls upto Parent currency irrespective of whether the currencies of base and parent are same/different.
    Is this something new with version 11 or has it always been like this?
    Thanks,
    S

    I don't follow your explanation. To be very clear: <Parent Curr Adjs> is NOT the translation of <Entity Curr Adjs>. This will never happen. HFM takes <Entity Curr Total> and translates that into the target currency. The only time <Parent Curr Adjs> will equal <Entity Curr Adjs> is when they are indeed the very same currency. In that case there is no translation but instead two names for the same data set.

  • How to identify the current lead selection is child or parent in rec node

    Hi
    I am using a recursive node to populate a table with TreeByNestingTableColumn as master column. Now my problem is how do I identify if the current selected row in the table is a child or parent? When I get the lead selection value, I find that its the same for the parent and the child. I am setting the isLeaf and hasChildren boolean properties appropriately as false and true for parent and true and false for child. But since the lead selection is returning the same the below rsTableElement always gives me the parent, I always get those parameter values as that of parent. I am writing this inside the onleadSelect event of the table.
    IRsTableElement rsTableElement = (IRsTableElement) wdContext.nodeRsTable().getElementAt(wdContext.nodeRsTable().getLeadSelection());
    In this scenario how do I know if the current selection is made on a child?
    Appreciate for all help and any code snippets.
    Thanks,
    KN.

    Hi KN,
    I guess you want to check if the node that you selected is parent or child.. This can be achieved by using getTreeSelection() method of IWDNode.
    If you write following code in your lead selection action, you can determine the if it is a parent or child node.
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess(wdContext.nodeRsTable().getTreeSelection() +"");
    the output will be something like
    <ViewName>.RsTable.0.ChildRsTable.1.ChildRsTable.0.. depending upon which node you have selected.
    That way you can find out if it is a parent or child node.

  • Parent of Top node is getting added as Orphan node

    Hi ,
    When I am trying to import the below test import file in DRM 11.1.2 -
    [hier]
    Product|P000000
    [node]
    P000000
    [relation]
    P000000|None|Total Product|True
    the parent of top node P000000 which is 'None' as defined in System preferences , is getting added as an Orphan node. We dont want any orphan node to be created.
    Can someone please help in avoiding this.
    Thanks for the help in advance!!

    Hello
    Try to exclude the [relation] section:
    [hier]
    Product|P000000
    [node]
    P000000|Total Product|True
    This will allow you to create the Hierarchy with TopNode and to fill the attributes of TopNode.

  • Writing values from xMII to iFIX HMI

    I have a customer that is asking about writing values back to GE's iFIX.   It looks as if the UDS for iFIX does not have a write back method.   However OPC UDS does.  I could make an OPC connection to iFIX but am I incorrect about writing values back to iFIX?

    Hi Doug,
    I think that write back typically is limited to current values by most vendors.  If iFix does allow it and you can establish an OPC connection through UDS, you will need to have the UDS configured to allow the write back as well as the data connector in MII.  I am not familiar with iFix, so I would also suggest starting with GE and google to determine whether iFix even allows write back.
    Perhaps someone else has run into this before and can help.  If you have already solved it, please post your solution for the benefit of the community.
    Good luck,
    Mike

    I'm not sure if I am writing this in the correct area (this is my second attempt at posting a question), but I have a comment about a recent store experience in Sandusky, OH.  I am not a current Verizon customer, but I was visiting friends and we had to go to the store to get something taken care of.  First off, allow me to compliment the nice, new store.  Boy, its changed over the past few years ago when I was in last. My comment is mostly directed to one specific employee.  When we entered the store, we were "welcomed" by a sloppy dressed gentlemen (his clothes were probably two sizes two small), which really struck me as unusual because every other employee in the store was dressed really "casual" with nice sporty clothing and red shoes.  Either way, after being entered into the computer, the gentlemen told me to wander around or have a seat in the back and someone would be with us soon.  As soon as we walked away from the door, the gentlemen handed his "duty" off to another employee who took over welcoming people coming in.  For whatever reason, I felt glued to him as he stood out to me.  After leaving the door, he immediately went to the back of the room, hunched over a cabinet, where he stood for the next 30+ minutes playing on his phone, frowning and not speaking to anyone around him.  Again, I found this unusual because everyone else was overly friendly and smiling.  I finally decided to walk by and see what he was doing.  It appeared that he was texting someone.  He paid no attention to me whatsoever as I walked by, just continued to frown and text on his phone.  I did take not of his name tag for future reference.  His name was Justin.  I am assuming he's the manager of the location as he was just standing around while everyone else worked.  I do understand that managers aren't necessarily doing the "dirty work" of the employees, but he could have at least found some better fitting clothing (I find it hard to believe Verizon doesn't supply it), been a little friendly, pretended to be busy, and not been texting the entire time we were there.  Again, the store was great, the other employees were very helpful, but the manager seemed to be doing is own little thing and it didn't put off a good image for the rest of the store.  Just wanted to share my comments.
