"Writing Video" though Sequence already rendered

Hello. This happens occassionally though not sure why... I'm editing to tape, an assemble edit to a digi...something that we've done many times...the sequence is fully rendered..but when I edit to tape, FCP starts "writing video" which currently is taking over an hour...the other downside is that EVERY time I edit to tape when this happens, I have to go through the "writing video" process...why is this happening and how do I get it to stop? Usually if the sequence is rendered, I don't have to write video, or it's very quick so I don't mind, but I can never tell when or why this happens. THanks!

Sorry, I was thinking "writing audio" when you were saying "writing video"
I've had this happen occasionally as well and not sure why, but, a way around it is to export your sequence to a self contained QT movie using current settings and reimport that file for PTT.
Takes some drive space, but I find it's also a more stable method for getting to tape than running a complex timeline using PPT. And it also serves as file copy of my final sequence.

How can I force FCP to re-render video that's already rendered?

I recently bought a new Mac... actually it's a used Mac, but, well, you know, it's new to me! Anyhow, my "new" Mac is a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, and my old computer is a 1.25 GHz PPC G4 eMac. They're both running OS X 10.4.11.
I just installed FCP on my new computer, v5.1.4, same version as on my old computer. I wanted to finish up an FCP project that I had started on my old computer. So I copied the project file on to my new computer. All the media files were on an external hard drive, so I just connected that to my new computer. But when I opened my project on my new computer and tried to play it, the message "Unrendered" kept appearing in the canvas throughout the movie, in total, probably in about a third of the movie.
The problem is that FCP doesn't seem to recognize that these clips are unrendered. There's no red line above the clips, and when I try to select them and render them, nothing happens. I'm guessing there must be some way to just make FCP re-render them, but so far, nothing I've tried seems to work. Please help! Thank you!!

Did you go to the Sequence->Render menus and make sure all render types (colors) have a check mark beside them?

Writing Video when laying back to tape, despite timeline been rendered...

I have a 97 minute timeline fully rendered @ Uncompressed 10bit 24sf video.
I'm trying to play out to a HDCAM SR deck via SDI output on a KONA 3 card through edit to tape. The timeline is fully rendered and plays back real time when I hit space bar and if I just want to crash record to the deck. However when I use edit to tape and try to do an assemble edit a message bar pops up saying writing video and gives me a write time of 7 hours. Does anyone know why this might be...?
My sequence settings match all my set up and deck control settings. I've double and triple checked the video format the KONA is outputting using the AJA utility... any ideas?

Check the settings playback settings in the Timeline window to make sure they are all set to be high quality... sounds like the playback/render quality doesn't match the recording quality so when you ask to edit to tape, it is attempting a total re render.

"Conforming HDV" instead of "Writing Video" while rendering anything

I am having a serious issue with FCP. I am getting the "Conforming HDV" dialog instead of "Writing Video" while rendering anything
Short Project shot @ 720p 30 with a JVC GY-HD100U
1) This gradually started happening more and more.
2) Whenever I try to render anything, even a small crossfade, FCP shows the "Conforming HDV" dialog and proceeds to trash my video. Pieces of the video are repeated or frames are dropped and shots become jerky.
Undo fixes the issue. Replacing the video with the original fixes the issue. But I connot RENDER ANYTHING!
What would you all suggest?

Welcome to HDV. I've never had much better luck than this. The way the GOP structure of the mpeg-2 HDV stream works, the I-frames in your media almost never match up with the default GOP structure of the sequence, and you must wait for it to conform everytime you even think about touching it. Changing the render settings might help. If you are still runnning FCP 4.5, you will be plagued with scrambled render files - even if you can get it to show the correct rendered material in the timeline, if you export or encode or output to tape, you'll wind up with different (wrong) renders in the resulting files.
You might consider batch exporting all your media to Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC), an all I-frame codec that helps to get around some of the GOP structure issues that make HDV so impossible to work with. Also, more RAM, or a better video card will take some of the load off of the processor as it tries valiantly to decode the HDV stream. Upgrading FCP to the latest version will also help with some of the render-scrambling etc.

Writing video during edit... whats it doing?

Hey guys! I'm working with full HD content prores 422 files, that do match my sequence settings. I've just left my machine on, come back 20 minutes later to find a dialogue box that says "writing video" and the progress bar is going very slowly. Whats it actualy doing?.. do i need to leave it, or can I click cancel?...

Hi Tom - My mistake actually, my sequence settings do NOT match my clips at all, I assumed they did as when i first dropped my footage in, it came up with a popup telling me that the sequence doesn't match my clips, and would i like final cut to match them for me, i clicked ok, but I guess something screwed up somewhere.
The footage i'm working with is ProRes 422, 1920x1080p 23.98fps.
The easy setup is set to HDV 720p30fps... (Which is completely wrong)
And the sequence settings are set to
Frame size - 1280x720
Pixel aspect ratio - Square
Editing timebase - 29.97
Compressor - Apple Intermediate
Which again is all wrong.. how that happened i don't know, as like i said, when i dropped my footage in the timeline for the first time, I clicked ok for it to match the sequence settings to my clips.
I'm not too sure what to do, as I've already been working on the project in the timeline for a few days.

Video from an already created DVD

Is there any way at all to remove video from an already created DVD into Final Cut?

Use MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free software) to convert the media to something like ProRes 422, then import into FCP X.
But you need to download a Quicktime component (easy to do though).

Windows Premier pro CS5 Program monitor freezes/hangs when video on sequence bar is playing

I have been experiencing program monitor freezes/hang while the audio and the video on sequence bar is still playing. This happens on both HD and SD projects. I have tried many ways but at time it works but at times does not work. i have updated CS5 to 5.02, updated the driver and also quicktime.

Why does my nested sequence need rendering?

Folks, I have a twelve sequences that are fully rendered and I am nesting them onto one timeline. The new timeline has the same settings as the other sequences. Why do my already rendered timelines require rerendering on the nested sequence? Is there any way around this. It would seem there's some way to take already rendered sequences and line them up on one sequence without having to rerender.
The project is XDCAM EX 1080p24

Nevermind folks, I figured it out. I had my render control settings set to Apple Pro Res on some timelines.

Writing Video...

As I understand this, writing video occurs when printing to tape and it's rendering un-rendered (RT Playback) clips.
So I set forced my timeline not play through effects and to render (red line), and then I rendered so taht there's no red line remaining.
However, when I still print to tape, I have 15 minutes of "writing to video" on a 90 minute presentation. Every time I do a print to tape I have to wait 15 minutes again.
Any ideas how to get around this?
Format is straight DV/DVCAM NTSC. Presentation is mostly video with a video overlay from after effects (animation w/ alpha channel). My guess is that it keeps re-rendering that overlay...

It will also render and slates and such that you use in the mastering settings tab of the Edit to Tape window. The ETT thing is strange in that it will often seem to re-render things that you know 100% is rendered. I've used to for years as it's the only way to get a program to tape at accurate timecode. My speculation (and this is only speculation after trying to figure out the strange ETT render habits) is that it is rendering for best performance to try to minimize any dropped frame problems. This could mean it is re-rendering section to avoid fragmented render files. I don't know if it's this smart (it'd be nice to think it was) but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Error in call adapter: Sequence already terminated

Hi sdn experts
We get the com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Sequence already terminated error when sending data from PI to the JMS adapter. The error occurs in the step u201Ccall adapteru201D on the abap-stack.
We have been through logs and found no more info than the ones above.
The scenario is backend (proxy) -> PI -> JMS adapter.
We use EOIO in the proxy call by lo_prxy_async_messaging->set_serialization_context. If we change this to another value by debugging the message goes through.
I have checked sdn posts - but I could not find one that solved my problem.
Any experience on this issue?

1) Duplicate Message: Not the case (canelled all in both IS and AE, send again with same result)
2) Invalid parameters: Can you be more specific?
3) Payload or Message Format: It is correct - the samme message runs through when changing the serialization_context. That is.. when changing the eioi sequense id in debug. Same message and format is succesfull then.
To my mind the EOIO id in the j2ee stack got mixed up. I do not know where to check this. I have checked for locks in the NWA. There are none.

In Imovie my music wont open the itunes list. it asks to open itunes even though its already open. would anyone know how i can access this library?

Can anyone help with accessing itunes through imovie for background music? when pressing the music button, the music will not show for itunes and keeps asking to open itunes, even though its already open as an application?

StageVideo play multiple videos in sequence (playlist) on iOS

I have to play severals locals videos in sequence with stageVideo (imagine an dynamic background wich runs an playlist).
Its runs very well (the MP4 videos play smoothly) but when the videos are switching appear an full sreen white frame for 3 seconds and later the second video start to play (on my iPhone4).

You can see in a real device like iPhone 4 (not desktop) an BLACK screen when swtiching videos (about 3 seconds).

Message stuck in queue: Sequence already terminated

Dear all,
in my scenario I splitt a message and send it to two receivers.
Sender RFC
Receiver (both) : JDBC
The first message stuck with error message:
<SAP:AdditionalText>com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Sequence already terminated.</SAP:AdditionalText>
I set parameter QRFC_RESTART_ALLOWED = 1 in sxmb_adm.
But in SMQ2 I still see error: XI Error ERROR_OBJECT.INTERNAL: Queue stopped
Trying to execute the LUW, I received following status error:
Function module does not exist or EXCEPTION raised.
But I could not see any error description that helps me dealing with this error.
Any ideas why it stucks?

Hey, thanks for that! It is very intersting to see how that works. Looks like the outgoing mail queue can change "on demand", like when you left only one account active. This means that the ability to send emails from any of the accounts regardless of where it came in is just a programming step away...

I'm getting the following error after the execution of an IDoc>SQL interface.
The queue shows "XI Error ERROR_OBJECT.INTERNAL: Queue stopped" in FM SXMS_ASYNC_EXEC.
The message with error, in SXMB_MONI, says:
<SAP:AdditionalText>com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException:
Sequence already terminated (soft).</SAP:AdditionalText>
Does anyone ever faced this error?

The Queue sequence has terminated in PI,
Login to Messaging System http://<host>:<port>/MessagingSystem/monitor/monitor.jsp
Check EOIO Sequence Monitor..
Change the Date range according to your message processed date, Queue name can be viewed with status "Terminated".
To resolve your issue, assign a exclusive queue name in sender communication cahnnel or if you already using a queue name, change it to different name.
Let me know if this resolved your issue.
PS: Actually i had the same issue, i am searching SDN on "how to activate Terminated queues" , i saw your thread. This might fix the problem. But still i am searching on Activating termiated queues.
