Wrong Apple ID in App Store Updates

Hi all,
I know a similar question has been asked but I am "bumping" this as it's very annoying at the least. We went from a 1 iphone house to a 3 iphone house. My husband's is a work iphone and so he uses a different apple ID for his phone. My settings in MY iphone are all correct for my itunes account, in fact, I've never even accidentally synched my phone to his account. But now all of the sudden for no reason HIS apple ID is showing up ONLY WHEN YOU LOG IN TO UPDATE YOUR APPS.
This is very strange. I've only had my phone for 2 weeks, so I am thinking of calling support, but is there a fix? I've hard restarted the phone, synched to my computer (logged in to MY apple ID) and it is still happening.
This is not acceptable. Plus DD is getting an itunes gift card for xmas so I will probably have yet ANOTHER apple ID to deal with I don't want to load it onto my account because I'll spend it : )
Has anyone dealt with Apple on this issue?
Thanks!
Jerilyn

This morning, I attempted to update 14 applications on my iPhone. When I selected "Update All" I was prompted for my password, not realizing a User ID other than mine was appearing. Of course I kept getting the message that my User ID was incorrect. As suggested below, I went to settings, then Store, and logged out, then logged in again using my Apple ID and password. Nonetheless, when I go to the App Store and attempt to update the apps, the other Apple ID continues to appear, not my own.
I have never synced my phone on any other computer than my own, so that is not the reason this happening, and I have only used my own Apple ID to make purchases.
Any other ideas or fixes?

Hi there, when I go to update my apps in the App Store, the wrong Apple ID is in the box, and it won't let me highlight it to delete and put my Apple ID in. Please help!

Where did you get the Mac? New or used?
Do you encounter this generally or for a specific app?

  • Wrong Apple ID in App Store on new iTouch

I got the new iTouch 4th gen. for Christmas. A few years ago I had an older version of the iTouch and about 40 or so apps for it bought from my first account. I recently made a new apple ID for use with this iTouch. I've had no problems with it so far, all the apps and all my music synced with it, my new apple ID shows up in my settings and on the iTunes app. However, when I go to the app store application it tells me I have 38 updates for the applications I bought a long time ago. When I try to update these (free updates..) It wantes me to log in with my apple ID. However, it gives me a username that is my AOL email and I have never associated it with any apple products as far as i know. It won't let me change it to my real apple ID. When I go to iTunes on my computer it says there are no updates available, no matter which account I'm logged into.
    1. How do I change it so my real apple ID is used in the app store app?
    2. Why aren't the updates showing on iTunes?

Go to Setting>Store and sign into the itunes account that purchased the app. Is your computer authorized for the iTunes account for which the updates are not showing? Also, are the non-showing app for the update showing in iTunes?

  • Wrong Apple ID in App Store Sign-in Box

When I try to update applications (in the current case, iPhoto), the Apple ID shown in the sign-in box is not mine but my wife's. She has her own computers and does not operate on mine. I have checked my App Store account details and my correct Apple ID is listed as it should be. I have tried to change the Apple ID in the sign-in box but it is not allowed. My correct Apple ID is shown in the Apple Store log-in and the Apple Support log-in boxes and I have no trouble logging in to these two sites. How can I rectify this situation with the App Store log-in Apple ID to enable application updates to be obtained? I am operating on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.

    Hi Niel,
Thank you for your suggested solution. It worked perfectly and you were spot-on with your assessment of my problem.
    Best regards,

  • Changing apple ID for app store updates.

My son's friend put his apple ID in our ipad, and now when i try to update an app, the friend's ID shows up and mine does not.  I do not know how to change it back.

What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app ? If it's your son's friend's id then tap on it and log out of it and then log back in with your id. But any apps that your son's friend downloaded will be tied to his id, so only his id will be able to download updates to those apps

  • Wrong Apple ID in App Store on iMac

Hi there. I went to upgrade some apps and realized that the wrong Apple ID is there (my daughter's). It's greyed out so that I can't type my Apple ID over top. Is there a way for me to get rid of her ID so I can type mine in?
    Thanks!

That's what's weird. This is my computer, and I have no idea why her ID is in there. I just want to access my apps and update my computer.
    Thanks for your quick replies.

Restore your phone. When it asks you for the ID put in the correct one.

  • I have wrong Apple ID in app store?

My wife and I sync our phones to the same computer.  I log out of her account and log into my itunes but her apple ID comes up when I want to update my apps or buy?  I synced to my itunes.  I checked the settings for the store that has my ID in there?  What do I do?

Some apps seem to have been purchased with your wife's ID. therefore, updates have to be done with hers, unless you purchase them with yours.

  • HT204053 Wrong Apple ID for App Store/iTunes shows on iPhone

I've changed my Apple ID on all my devices to the same ID, but when I try to update apps or purchase new ones on my iPhone my old @me address keeps showing up rather than my new one. What do I do to fix that?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
However if the Apple ID you are going to change to is a new account and not simply a change of address, then you will be unable to update any of your older content on your mobile device.

  • Mac App Store update: right Apple ID but wrong user account

My Mac App Store updates get associated to the wrong user account but the correct Apple ID.
I live in Germany and have an iMac and a MacBook Pro, both purchased under Snow Leopard and now running Lion 10.7.2. Just after upgrading to Lion I "purchased" a free App (BibleReader 5.0.0). This morning I logged into my wife's user account on the MacBook Pro, and the App Store icon flagged an update. I switched to my user account and was surprised to see that the update wasn't flagged there. By listing my purchases I did suceed in finding an "update" button for BibleReader, but pressing it resulted in a (German) error message whch translates as "An update is available for another account. Please log in with the account you used to purchase the App". But that is what I had just done.
Intrigued I went back to my wife's user account. By logging onto the Mac App Store with my Apple ID from my wife's user account I did manage to update the app. Later at work I got the same error message on the iMac. But this time the only other user account on the machine belongs to Computing Services: I don't have their password and I ought not to use admin rights to gain access to their account. So I can't perform the upgrade on the iMac.
All family iTunes / App Store purchases are via my main Apple ID. My wife's user account on the MacBook Pro only exists so that I can manually synchronise our iCloud address books (she has an iPad).
    Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
All the applications you purchase on the App Store are registered to your Apple ID, so you have to use your Apple ID to update them, or you have to purchase those applications again using the Apple ID they are using on that computer, so they will be able to update them

  • When I click on my iPad App Store Updates, the wrong apple ID is showing up. When I go under settings the correct one is displayed under the app store.

When I click on my iPad App Store Updates, the wrong apple ID is showing up. When I go under settings the correct one is displayed under the app store.

Does the wrong Apple ID show up with a particular App or all Apps?
Apps are linked to the ID they were purchased with, so if you have Apps purchased with different IDs you may need to logout with one then log in with another to update the second one.
We've also seen were "free" Apps are downloaded from the Internet, but they are not really free but instead were just hacked by a different user so need to be updated with that account.  That can prevent updates.  If so, it's best to delete the bogus app and get a good copy from the App Store.

  • App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite

App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite. How can I just force it to allow me to RE-BUY the app again since I don't even have it to update, but I want it?
Currently, I even though I don't have the app, I am not given the option to buy, only to "update", and when I click on that it either hangs or it complains that it can't since my Apple ID is not associated with my account.

And it was your wife's Apple ID that was used to download and install the Yosemite you are using on this computer? If so then I suggest you need to contact Apple to get his straightened out.

  • How can I get Apple Remote Desktop to disappear from my App Store updates list?

My Apple Remote Desktop software shows up in my App Store updates list.  But I have already updated it to version 3.6.1 and it shows as "Installed".  It is greyed out and will not go away.  Any ideas on how to make it disappear is most appreciated.

All the suggestions I have read have not worked for me.
    But you can try:
Running Software Update from the Apple Menu
Logging in to the Mac App Store with the account that purchased ARD
Deleting various Apple Store .plist files
NB I haven't tried removind ARD and reinstalling.
