Wrong apple id tied to apps

Is it possible to change the apple id tied to apps? My son installed one app using his apple id, and now it seems all the apps that came with the phone (20 ) have all become associated with his id and I can't update anything.

That was my suspicion, however I don't how they all got my son's id. He didn't download or purchase any of them. I had even used the store a couple of times and downloaded apps, he does it once and everything becomes his. I was hoping that if the apps got his id that easily, it might be possible to switch them back. After an hour on the phone with Apple support, deleting an app and repurchasing it was the only thing that worked though.

The Apple ID for future purchases is in Settings>Store>Apple ID.  However, apps have to be updated using the Apple ID used to originally purchase them.  This can't be changed.  If the App store is asking you to provide a password for a different Apple ID when you are updating apps, it's because this ID was used to purchase it originally.

  • Wrong Apple ID when Updating App in App Store

When I try to update some apps on my iPhone through the App Store, it's requesting the password for the wrong apple ID. The apple ID it is requesting the password for belongs to a family remember.
I tried the following suggested solution:
    1) Logout of App Store & iTunes
    2) Delete the app that is requesting credential for the wrong apple id when updating
    3) Go to App Store and reinstall the app using the correct apple ID
This solution only works temporarily. When in the future if the app has an update again, it's requesting the wrong apple id again.
I think one possible issue could be that I am syncing the iPhone to the same computer that of my family member.
*Please note, do NOT ask me to sync to another computer. This is not possible .All iOS devices in my family are manged, backed up, and sync on one computer.
*My iPhone is iPhone 4S running iOS 7
*Other iOS devices are iOS 8

You'e got a mess on your hands. Let's see if this helps.
First, that app, and possibly others that you might not have noticed, were downloaded with a different Apple ID that the rest of your apps. Of course, apps and other content are forever tied to the apple ID used to purchase or download them. You didn't say where you are deleting the app, but it sounds like you're doing so on the device, but not on the computer. If that's the case, when you sync with the computer, you may be replacing the app on the device with the other from a different Apple ID.
I would suggest deleting the app completely from ALL devices, including the computer. Be sure you are logged in with the Apple ID used to download all the other apps and get it again from the App store through iTunes on your computer. Then sync it back to all devices that use it.
In general, this can now mostly be avoided if all your devices run iOS 8. Read about Family Sharing: http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/

  • HT204088 WRONG APPLE ID SHOWING IN APP STORE HOW DO I CHANGE?

    Hi
My daughter set my iphone 4s up for me - all info shows my apple id except when i go to app store n try to install updates then my daughters apple id automaticaly comes up have let iphone savvy people try no one can change have rebooted re done passsword and even reset still showing wrong apple id am fit to scream - can anone help?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If your daughters Apple ID is displayed when trying to update apps, that would indicate that the app was originally purchased from her account, in which case you cannot update somebody else's app.

  • Wrong Apple ID when updating apps.

I have a MacBook Pro that was purchased back in 2009. I recently had some issues with it, but had it taken in and the problems resolved. I noticed, though, that when I wanted to update some apps from the App Store, that the wrong Apple ID was automatically signed in, prompting me to fill in the password. I have only ever used my Apple ID, but the one that keeps popping up with App Store is one I never even heard of, one I have never used before. Is there anyway to change the Apple ID? I have feeling the email belongs to someone from the Apple Store where I got it fixed. (The email that pops up on the prompt is light colored gray and whenever I try to click on the Apple ID to delete it, it won't let me.) Below is a screenshot of the prompt I am referring to.

Delete those applications and then download them from your Apple ID.

  • How do i change the wrong apple id in my app store on my phone

My phone wasn't working right, so I took it to the sprint store to get a new one using my insurance and they gave me a new one. the only weird thing is that when I go to update my apps it asks me to long on to someone else's email. I have gone into my settings and made sure that my apple id was correct but it still pops up when I go to update o even buy apps. I don't know who's email this is. The only thing I can think of, is that its someone from the sprint stores apple id, because they connected my phone to their computer and backed it up and then put it on my computer. All I know it that I'm frustrated and I just want to update my apps.

A brand new phone wouldn't have a stranger's Apple ID appearing for app updates.
Pretty sure that Sprint, Verizon, T-Mo and AT&T all use some returns as replacements for customers.
Not everything they use for replacement is an actual Apple refurb.

  • Wrong apple ID when updating apps on iphone 4s

I just got a replacement iphone 4s which I then updated to the new ios 7. Now I have several apps that need to be updated but it keeps asking for my password to an old apple id. I have no way of accessing the old id through email and my new id is signed in on both my computer as well as my iphone under the itunes store and icloud. I have tried signing in and out with no sucess and I have rebooted my phone. Not sure what to do next.

All apps are forever tied to the ID used to obtain them & can only be updated using that ID. If you can no longer use that ID to update them, then you'll have to delete them, then purchase them again using your new ID.
You could also contact iTunes support, explain the situation & request they add these apps to the download queue of your new ID.

  • IPad 2 asks for wrong apple ID when updating apps.

My Dad let a friend borrow my iPad for a couple days. A few days later I tried to update my apps, but it was asking for my dad's friend's email password. I don't know what he did but every single app that needs to update is now under his apple ID. (even the ones downloaded under my account) When I check what account the apps were downloaded from they say my email, but when I try to update it, I'm asked for his password. It's really fusturating, and I've seen a few discussions with this problem but It doesn't help.
I've already tried to sign out of iTunes and back in but it didn't work
Restarting the iPad did nothing either.
I'm using an iPad 2 with iOS 5.1.1
If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

You're right... I don't understand and it is Weird... Because...
Any App or Download Obtained with a Particular Apple ID is Tied to that Apple ID.
    Try this...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of the Account... > Settings  >  Store  >  Apple ID  =  Sign Out.
Perform a Reset and try again.
Reset... No Data or Settings will be lost...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • IPad mini Uses wrong Apple ID to update apps

Asks for password for another account. Have updated account settings, logged out and logged back in

It is asking for the password for the account that was originally used to purchase the App. Apps are tied to the purchase account and can't be transferred between accounts.
If you wish to eliminate this then delete the App and repurchase it under your correct Apple ID.

  • Wrong Apple ID associated with App Updates

Hi there, my 5yr old has an iPod; her older cousins came over, purchased apps for her with their own Apple ID.
While the iPod recognises my Apple ID and myself as the owner, when I go to update the apps, it displays her cousins Apple ID and wants his password.
How do I disassociate his ID from the updates (in fact altogether from this iPod), so I can proceed to update these Apps?
    Cheers

    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
Thus, update your apps one at a time and delete the apps purchased with the other account if you want.

Restore your phone. When it asks you for the ID put in the correct one.

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

I accidentally entered the wrong Apple ID, since that time whenever I try to install app or download stuff, it pops up with tthe Apple ID which I accidently entered the last time and asked for password. So can anybody tell how to remove that out????

What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app ? You can tap on it and log out of it and you can then log in with a different account. But all content from the store is tied to the account that downloaded it, so if any of the apps on your iPad were downloaded by the id that is showing then they will be tied to that id, so only that id will be able to download updates to those apps
