Wrong character set display in IE?

Hi,
our BW system has unicode character encoding and when i make report with web application designer and then look at report in IE I don't see the right fonts.
I would like to use different character encoding then unicode, because I don't see the right fonts.
Can I change character encoding, or what can I do to get the right fonts?
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Uros

  • Wrong character set in RFC Response.

    Hi all,
    interesting little problem - in calling an ERP system via the RFC Adapater, I am expecting English text in a string field, however,I end up getting a series of, I assume, Chinese characters. I don't know why, it has nothing to do with a language text look up as I am explicity forcing a return of 'Call Made!' to one of the the string fields all apart of my debugging.
    So the question is - where can I go to find out what the default character set is for the PI system.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Stefan,
    the front end codepage is character set is UTF-8 and the RFC user, in fact all users, are logging on with langauge of 'EN'. It seems to be just this particular field. Another field for example is Material Description, and that is coming through as english and is readable, however, this other field as populated by an RFC Call, regardless of whether I set delibrately via code eg;
    ev_sortf = 'Call Made!'.
    or let it populate from a select statement comes through in a different character set. When I look at the field configuration and the WSDL, it is set as type STRING in both the data type and in the RFC definition, and I cannot see anything that stands out as not to use the English character set.

  • Xmldom.writetoclob give wrong character set

    I use xmldom to create a xml clob. I create document for xml as follow:
    doc := xmldom.NewDomDocument;
    xmldom.setVersion(doc, '1.0');
    xmldom.setStandalone(doc, 'no');
    xmldom.setCharSet(doc, 'ISO-8859-1'); -- Should be character set for danish.
    Create xml clob as follow:
    xmldom.writeToClob(root, out_xml);
    Problem: Now is danish 'x, f, e' replace with ??.
    When a use 'xmldom.WriteToFile(root, 'd:\test_document');' I get correctly danish 'x, f, e'!
    I have seen you can use procedure/function 'SetEncoding', but I can not find this function in my Oracle installation (8.1.7.1.1).

    The character set you specify via setCharset() procedure is ignored unless you use writeToFile() later.

  • Data load uses wrong character set, where to correct? APEX bug/omission?

    Hi,
    I created a set of Data Load pages in my application, so the users can upload a CSV file.
    But unlike the Load spreadsheet data (under SQL Workshop\Utilities\Data Workshop), where you can set the 'File Character Set', I didn't see where to set the Character set for Data Load pages in my application.
    Now there is a character set mismatch, "m³/h" and "°C" become "m/h" and "C"
    Where to set?
    Seems like an APEX bug or at least omission, IMHO the Data Load page should ask for the character set, as clients with different character sets could be uploading CSV.
    Apex 4.1 (testing on the apex.oracle.com website)

    Hello JP,
    Please give us some more details about your database version and its character set, and the character set of the CSV file.
    >> …But unlike the Load spreadsheet data (under SQL Workshop\Utilities\Data Workshop), where you can set the 'File Character Set', I didn't see where to set the Character set for Data Load pages in my application.
    It seems that you are right. I was not able to find any reference to the (expected/default) character set of the uploaded file in the current APEX documentation.
    >> If it's an APEX omission, where could I report that?
    Usually, an entry on this forum is enough as some of the development team members are frequent participants. Just to be sure, I’ll draw the attention of one of them to the thread.

    I am attempting to display data with a mixed set of characters that include Korean characters. The American alphabetics are displaying clearly, but the Korean characters are garbled. Is this a matter of font availability or is there a conversion issue occuring?

  • UTL_MAIL shows character set in email client

    Hello,
    Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.3.0
    OS: Red Had Enterprise Linux (version 3)
    I'm trying to use the UTL_MAIL package to send an email and the actual mail sending works fine. However on the client side the database character set (WE8ISO8859P1) is displayed in the "From:" field and it's also displayed in the "Subject:" field (along with the actual email address/subject). Can someone please let me know why this is happening and how I fix it?
    The code I use is:
    <font face="Courier New" size="2">
    <font color = "maroon">exec</font> <font color = "maroon">utl_mail</font><font color = "silver">.</font><font color = "maroon">send</font><font color = "maroon">(</font> <font color = "maroon">sender</font> <font color = "silver">=&gt;</font> <font color = "red">'&quot;Database Check&quot; <[email protected]>'</font><font color = "silver">,</font>

    </font>
    Here's a screenshot of how the email appears on the client-side (Novell GroupWise. Outlook 2007 also displays it the same way). Please note I've blanked out the recipients name (which is displayed correctly, without the character set).
    http://oi53.tinypic.com/25usgme.jpg
    So why is the character set displayed? I've tried various combinations of using double-quotes and single quotes to no avail. Also the email is displayed perfectly fine if I use the old UTL_SMTP package!
    Please help!
    Thanks!

    Can you post the raw e-mail received by the Groupwise/Outlook client? Hi,
             my notebook keyboard displays wrong character . MY keyboard language setting is correct .I have tried many solution but none of them works for me. also when i press some key it automatically goes to vairous section of my window.  what is the solution of it.??  thanks.

    @sraban
    Have you tried a system restore to a point before the problem occured? That can help if there has since been a driver , update or other software installed, either by you, automatically, or by accident, that is the source of the problem.
    Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
    Here is the driver page for your notebook:  HP Pavilion 15-e034tx Notebook PC Drivers
    Did you try the things in that keyboard troubleshooting page I posted, and if so did you see any change or notice any errors?
    Also, for your convenience, see the: HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide
    With that you can find the part numbers and see instructions on how to remove or replace the keyboard if it is defective. Those same instructions can also help with cleaning.
    Let me know if that helps at all.

  • Lync in combination with Plantronics P540-M: Display changes to logographic character set

    Hello,
    I've recently started to use Lync on my iMac 21,5" from 2011. Now the program itself works fine until i connect a Plantronics P540-M usb phone. Lynn keeps operating as it should apart from the fact that
    the display on the Plantronics phone changes to some sort of asian character set. I'm using Lync version 14.0.10.
    Does anyone recognise this problem and have a solution for this?
    With kind regards,
    Patrick van Kleeff
    Windesheim University of Applied Sciences

    Language is passed to phone from Lync.
    Try this:
    Go to System Preferences – Available from the Apple menu.
    Click on Language & Region – It is the flag icon in the top row of icons.
    Make sure English is the primary language. If another language is listed, remove it.
    Reboot
    Launch Lync
    If that does not work try this:
    Change the language from "English-Primary" to "English-US"
    Reboot
    Go back into Settings, Language & Region
    Change the language back to "English-Primary"
    Reboot
    Launch Lync

  • Website not displaying correctly. Firefox is changing the character set to Western (ISO-8859-1) automatically.

    Normally I have set Firefox (or it's set by default) to Character Set Unicode (UTF-8) and everything displays perfectly. I've never had a problem before.
    Now however, whenever I upload my own website, for some bizarre reason on that particular tab (and only that tab) the Character Set is changed over to Western (ISO-8859-1) and then there's a few characters within my site that do not display correctly, namely apostrophes and hypens.
    It definitely isn't my software (Serif WebPlus X4) because the page displays correctly in every other browser. Plus it displays correctly in Firefox if I change the Character set back to Unicode.
    PS The site is a work in progress

    That happens because the server sends a content-type (<b>text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1</b>) via the HTTP response headers and in that case that content type prevails. The page code is saved with an UTF-8 byte order mark () that you see in this case.

  • Displaying multiple asian character sets?

    Hi all,
    Just wondering is there anyway to display multiple asian keysets in a java application?
    Right now I can set the locale to say Chinese with the command line property:
    -Duser.language=zh
    I could do the same with Japanese or Korean. But I was wondering is there anyway to display all these character sets in the same program? Would I have to set the JTextFields individually to the relevant fonts so i can see the characters? E.g. if the user wants to input Chinese, all JTextFields are set to Simsun. Same for other character sets?
    thanks,
    J

    Hi Justin,
    As for myself, I used Robot class on Win Xp to switch between input languages in a form (French/Japanese). That works well but requires that you map manually each language to a key combination a Robot can emule.
    I hope that could be useful,

    This issue can be caused by the bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or another (bitmap) font that can't be displayed by Firefox in that font size.
    Firefox can't display that font in the specified size and displays gibberish instead.
    You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
    Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or find a True type version of that font that doesn't have the problem.

    =============================================
    Oracle Tools(SQL*Plus, Forms 30, Forms 40, Reports 20 등)을 이용하여 한글
    DATA를 조회할 때 ???로 출력되는 경우 해결 방법.
    DATABASE는 SQL COMMAND 'CREATE DATABASE'를 포함하는 STATEMENT를 수행할
    때 만들어지는데 우리가 그 STATEMENT를 수행하기 앞서 고려해야 할 사항 중의
    하나가 DB CHARACTERSET이다.
    DB를 CREATE할 때 DATABSE CHARACTERSET을 명시해야만 하는데, 한번 선택되고
    난 후에는 CHARACTER SET을 변경하는 것은 쉽지가 않다.
    DATA DICTIONARY에 있는 DATA를 포함해서 모든 DATA는 선택된 CHARACTERSET에
    의해 입출력 되기 때문에 USER가 다른 CHARACTERSET으로 ACCESS한다면 한글 데이
    타가 ???로 출력된다.
    또한, 분산 DB 환경이나 UPGRADE할 경우에는 DATABASE CHARACTERSET이 같아야
    하므로, 사용자들은 DATABASE의 CHARACTERSET을 알아 두어야 한다.
    < 현재 DATABASE 의 CHARACTERSET 확인 및 변경 >

    위의 (A)와 (B)가 동일한 경우에만 한글 데이타 처리에 문제가 없으며, 이것이

    * NLS_LANG 환경 변수를 변경하여 일치시키는 방법
    <UNIX>
    Bourne shell, k-shell을 사용하는 경우 .profile을 수정한다.

    <WINDOWS 95>
    WINDOWS 95에서는 NLS_LANG이 ORACLE.INI에 들어있지 않고

    또는
    시작 -> 실행 -> regedit -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> ORACLE
    오른쪽 마우스 버튼을 이용하여 NLS_LANG을 수정한다.
    REGISTRY 변경 후에 PC를 REBOOTING 할 필요는 없습니다.

    DOS 창에서 REGEDT32.EXE 실행
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> ORACLE 선택
    메뉴를 선택하여 NLS_LANG을 수정
    * 서로 다른 character set 을 갖는 DB를 access 하는 client에서는 다음과

    예를 들어서 SERVER의 character set이 US7ASCII이고 PC의 NLS_LANG이
    American_America.KO16KSC5601과 같이 서로 다르게 설정되어 있는 경우
    다음을 각 client의 환경에 추가하면 한글 문제가 해결됩니다.
