Wrong date when synchronizing from Photoshop elements 3.0/4.0

When I synchronize my photos from photoshop elements (I have tried both version 3.0 and 4.0) the dates displayed above the thumbs in the different folders become February 2040.
I have put my photos in different collections in PE which are recognized nicely within Itunes. I turned on the "enable disk use" and "include full-resolution photo" options. I can also see that the database structure built within the Ipod is correct (year->month->day) still the date displayed above the folders when scrolling through the thumbs is incorrect.
I have been busy quite a while now, but I can't find the answer, anyone there who knows the solution?

I am experiencing the same thing. Regardless of what photos I sync to my iPod 60GB, the date on top is always February 2040!

  • Preserving time when importing from Photoshop Elements

I have about 15K photos that I am moving from Photoshop Elements on Windows to Aperture. In Elements all my photos are in time order sequence plus the liberal use of tags. The tags work fine but the time sequence does not. Most photos have the date for when they were taken plus additional dates for when they were edited and/or when they were copied when I upgraded Windows/Photoshop. Some photos were from APS film that Walmart copied to CDs and I manually set the date. I have checked the metadata on a random set of photos and the date used by Photoshop on Windows is correct.
My question is "Can I get Aperture to use the same rules as Photoshop Elements so that when I view "Photos" in Aperture, they will be in the same order. I check the manual; nothing on this. iPhoto has the same problem but then it doesn't support the same level of metadata as Aperture. Specifically, I need Aperture to support "Date Time Original" field when it is available. Otherwise, I will have to stay with Photoshop Elements.
    Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks
PS Using the change date/time facility is not a realistic option since it would take days of labour for something that is already contained in the metadata

This is because, when you port your slideshow to Premiere Elements, it becomes video -- and video has a resolution of essentially 640x480 pixels at 72 ppi.
If you'd like to save your slideshow at full resolution, you'll need to use one of the other export options -- and you'll need to make it playable on a computer, which has a higher resolution than your TV.

  • Decreased picture resolution when importing from Photoshop Elements

When I export pictures from Photoshop Elements 7.0 to Premier Elements 7.0 the resolution decreases significantly.  I tried to "bypass" Photoshop by importing the pictures from my hard drive but ended up with the same problem.
Can anyone help me to locate a solution to this problem?
    Thanks.

  • Photos on my Mac show the wrong date when imported from a portable Hard Drive

I’ve got loads of photos that I had imported from my old PC.Last night I decided to start going through them and trying to get them sorted
prior to importing into iphoto. I discovered that some of the pictures (in particular ones I have taken from my old Iphone) all had the same date and time
assigned to them. When I checked the Exif details, it listed the correct camera etc, but the date created seems to have changed to the date I copied them to my portable hard drive.
I thought this was strange as when they were on my PC I thought they were correct. I booted my PC up and checked the portable hard drive on Windows. When viewed on my PC the pictures all have the correct time and date assigned to them. However when I plug the same portable hard drive into my Mac the same files show up as being created on a more recent date (say 20th Jan 2013).
I’ve done a lot of research last night, although I can find no forum with this exact problem, I feel it must have something to do with compatibility. The portable hard drive is FAT32, and I am assuming that in order to ensure all of the photos information is transferred correctly in needs to be NTFS.
The problem I have is how do I transfer my files again from my PC to an NTFS drive, whilst keeping all of the correct date and time information assigned to the photos. My understanding is that the 2 aren’t compatible.
Has anyone ever had this problem? It mainly seems to be with photos I have extracted from my Iphone or edited in some form by rotating them.
I have a 13" Macbook Pro Retina with OSX Mavericks installed.

What you may want to do is archive as a Zipfile the photos and then transfer them to the Mac.     It is possible some of the metadata is being lost on the FAT32 formatting.    USB Flashdrive might work better than a FAT32 formatted hard drive, as I do know that most USB Flashdrives are formatted about the same as SD media cards, which manage to preserve the data when copied from camera to Mac.    My big question is, do you still have the photos on media cards?  You might just want to get a media card reader on your Mac, if the photos are not on SD cards, and transfer them over with the media card reader.
I do believe Retina MacBook Pros all have SD card readers built-in.
Note: I've asked this be moved to the MacBook Pro forum.  MacBook without the secondary name refers to the consumer notebook Apple stopped making in 2011.

  • Lost folder when recovering from photoshop elements 5

I was using the XP version of photoshop elements 5 when my PC crashed but I had a full (recent) backup on my external hard drive.
My new ;laptop is running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 home premium .  I installed my XP version on the new laptop and it seemed to run OK. I but when I tried to recover my backed up catalogue it did not recover the files and lost the name of the folder which contained all the files. I still have the name of the folder but it no longer appears in the directory of my extenal drive. Non of the photos were deleted - at least they did not appear in the recycle bin.
Is there any way I can recover the folder and tjhe files it contains ?.
Also is there some incompatibilty between  64 bit Windows and the XP version of Elements ?
.I had intended to upgrade my version of Photoshop after I had recovered my photos, but maybe I should have done this first. I have an earlier backup but would loose quite a lot of work if I have to use it, and in any case  I am reluctant to try it at the moment as I don't want to lose any more photos..
I have never actually used back-up and restore and any advice would be welcome.

In the future (assuming your external drive is large enough) Select the folder that holds all your photos and copy it to the external. This way you have an exact copy elsewhere, then you can easily retrieve one or more images if needed.
I personally have did this on a second internal, plus two externals. Once you loose images, especially ones you can't ever recreate like loved ones that passed away, you tend to get paranoid about not having a backup.
As for your current situation, you can try a file recover app, using the windows commands for undeleting files, or pay a service to fix it. also keep in mind that the files do not have to go to the recycle bin to be deleted. If the drive has bad sectors, etc. those files may be permanently gone. What ever you do, do not run defrag, or save any files to that drive, until it is fixed or you finally give up. As writing to the drive will write over top of any deleted files first then use the empty region. Deleting does not mean it is gone, it just means the directory was changed to allow that area to be written over. So an undelete program just changes the directory so the file is accessible again.

  • Transfer problem from Photoshop Elements 9 to Premiere Elements 9

When I transfer a slideshow from Photoshop Elements 9 to Premiere Elements 9, some slides change orientation and appear compressed. How can I avoid this problem?
Also when transfering  from Photoshop Elements, Premiere Elements opens a window to record the name of the project; what is the proper setting for the project? DSLR, interface DV...?
Recording a Blueray with Premiere elements from sequences of slideshows saved as WMV (highest resolution 1024x768) , pictures do not fill the screen. I realize that the photo size (4:3) is different from the TV screen (16:9), and that cropping would be necessary to fill the screen, but is there a format WMV for wide screen or can Premiere Elements do the cropping?  A wide screen ratio would be nice to have in Photoshop Elements cropping toll.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

One problem with orientation is that many viewing/cataloging programs will allow one to change the orientation, but that is only for viewing - no pixels are actually changed. A flag is placed in the metadata, telling many viewers to rotate the image, when viewed. Adobe Bridge, the big-brother to Organizer, and installed with many Adobe suites and programs, does this. It is not until one does a Save for the image, that the rotation is actually applied to the pixels. Until then, it's just an instruction to a viewer on how to display the image.

    hi barbara
thank you for your response, i appreciate it.  there's definitely nothing wrong with the mouse or trackpad, both work fine in every other application....i can also easily change size dimensions in other programs on my computer so it doesn't seem to be that either.  it seems like there is something weird going on in the way that pse and my mac are interacting with each other, just wish i knew what it was.    thank you again, wish me luck!

  • LR5 crashes when trying "Update Photoshop Elements Catalog" from PSE13

LR5 crashes after approx 3 minutes when trying "Update Photoshop Elements Catalog". I use PSE13, optimized and repaired several times. I get approx 10000 out of 30000 items into LR5 from PSE13

Per the user's guide, from the Library Module I: File > Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog
This brings up a dialog box that shows the most recently upgraded PSE catalog. Then, to quote the user's guide, "To choose a different PSE catalog, click the Elements drop-down menu."
There is no "Elements drop-down menu" within the dialog box to click on. The closest thing is an expand triangle opposite "Catalog info," but when clicked, that only displays more detail about the source PSE catalog I have already upgraded. There doesn't seem to be any way to browse to or select a second PSE catalog — which is what I'm trying to do.

  • Editing with Photoshop CS3 from Photoshop Elements 8

I posted this in the PSE forum but didn't get any hits. Hopefulyy I'll be luckier here.
I have just purchased Photoshop Elements 8. I do all my editing usually with Photoshop CS3. I use Elements mainly for the organizer.
When I choose Edit with Photoshop from the organizer, it launches the application but the photo does not open in Photoshop. Nevertheless, there is a banner accross the photo in Elements that says "Edit in Progress". If I close Potoshop CS3, the banner stays there. I have to close Elements to get rid of it. If I choose "Open with Photoshop Elements" it works fine.
That used to work fine with my previous version of Elements 6.0. Everything works fine in CS3. Any suggestion on what I might be doing wrong?
I'm running Photoshop Elements and CS3 on Windows Vista 64 bit.
    Thanks.

I have too much invested in Elements Organizer. 1000's of photos over a period of 5 years - tagged, version sets, stacked, albums, collections, ... I don't believe Bridge can do all of that.
I replicated the environment on a different PC with XP instead of Vista. Same problem. There seems to be a bug between Elements 8 and CS3. I don't have CS4 to test it with.
Come guys, with all the people in this forum, someone must have hit the problem or has an idea of what's going on. I logged a case with Adobe support but I doubt this will be a quick resolution.
    Thanks.

  • Help with upgrading from Photoshop Elements to Lightroom 3

Any tutorials/books/best practices on upgrading from PSE to LR 3? I have thousands and thousands of photos in PSE, and I'm sure the upgrade is not as transparent and smooth as Adobe promotes it to be.

Lightroom detects if your computer has a Photoshop Elements catalog and can import photos and data from the PSE catalog into a new Lightroom catalog. Lightroom imports photos and data from Photoshop Elements 6 and later on Windows. Lightroom imports photos and data from Photoshop Elements 9 on Mac OS.
Note: For help troubleshooting errors or problems when importing PSE catalogs into Lightroom, see the Adobe Support article Lightroom 3 cannot upgrade Photoshop Elements catalogs (cpsid_85517).
In the Library module, choose File > Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog. The Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog dialog box displays the most recently opened Photoshop Elements 6 (PSE6), Photoshop Elements 7 (PSE7), or Photoshop Elements 8 (PSE8), or Photoshop Elements 9 (PSE9) catalog.
To choose a different PSE catalog, click the Photoshop Elements drop-down menu.
To change the destination of the new Lightroom catalog, click Change and navigate to a different folder.
Click Upgrade to import the PSE catalog into a new Lightroom catalog.

  • My printer takes forever to print from photoshop elements 9

my printertakes forever to print from photoshop elements 9 then when it prits the crop is wrong, lots of noise or distortion. It only does this in adobe photoshop elements 9.

Yes it is different from what I see in print preview. I have been saving the file and picking it up in windows to print its so much faster and predictable. It takes forever to print from p-e. I read somewhere the printer needs to be calibrated for color but shouldn't have anything to do with crop or printing speed' Thanks

  • Export from Photoshop Elements 6 to Premiere Elements 8

I prepared a slide show with The Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 and produced a DVD which has good but not excellent image quality (I chose File Setting - High 800x600). To improve the DVD image quality I installed the trial version of Premiere Elements 8. I exported the slide show to Premiere Elements 8 and have several problems.1 The image quality of the DVD produced by Premiere Elements 8 is worse than the one produced from The Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).
2 The titles, transitions and soundtrack does not show in Premiere Elements 8.
3 The slides sequence in Premiere Elements 8 is different then the one in the slide show in The Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).
At one time a menu popped up asking me if I wanted to convert the Catalogue of V6. I declined because I was afraid that the V6 catalogue may be replaced and I would not be able to go back to it.
    Please help.

    Conclusion.
My results are consistent with your problems NOT being associated with Photoshop Elements 6 slideshow being used instead a Photoshop Element 8 slideshow in the slideshow transfer to Premiere Elements 8.
Testing. Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 8.
First I created a slideshow in the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor. It included:
    (a) 19 jpeg photos each with pixel dimensions of 3264 x 2448 (that is not recommended pixel dimensions but was used to stress out the project if possible...these represent grossly oversized photos since the goal is DVD VIDEO with standard frame size of 720 x 480.)
    (b) I used a Wipe transition between each
    (c) I used text within the photos (included in the text was a sequential number so that I could more easily visually follow the sequence of the slideshow after it was transferred to Premiere Elements 8)
    (d) I added two audio clips as soundtrack (the first I placed from beginning to just before the last two photos to pick up on any audio out of sync as well as loss of a whole audio clip)
    (e) I used a pan and zoom effect for photos 1 and 2.
The quality of the preview in the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor was good.
I outputted the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor slideshow, using the Slide Show Edit Output option "Send to Premiere Elements". When I did, Premiere Elements 8 opened, I set the project preset, and it accepted the slideshow. In the Project Media area were
    (a) a folder containing all the individual components of the slideshow
    (b) the slideshow file in a video (grouped) form
The video (grouped) form had automatically been placed on the Timeline as well.
Everything transferred correctly. No problems. SEE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW.
I even burned the Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO standard from Premiere Elements 8, and the DVD-VIDEO standard played back well on my 19 in LCD Widescreen TV.
Testing. Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8.
I repeated the above with Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8 and the same slideshow and obtained the same results.
IMPORTANT. Whether it was Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 8 or Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8, I had to render the Timeline in the Edit Mode in order to get the best possible preview so that I could determine/confirm what was on the Premiere Elements Timeline. And, rendering the Timeline as described with all those oversized photos took several hours.
This is what I need to know:
    1. How many photos did you use in the slideshow in the Photoshop Elements 6 or 8 slideshow, and what were their pixel dimensions? If you do not know, you can check it out in Photoshop Elements Full Editor/Image Menu/Resize/Image Size dialog or just place your mouse course over the file on the hard drive and note the "dimensions".
    2. If you transfer your slideshow from Photoshop Elements 6 or 8 to Premiere Elements 8, use the Output option "Send to Premiere Elements", and get your slideshow on the Premiere Elements 8 Timeline, do you render that Timeline by pressing the Enter Key of the computer main keyboard so that the red line over the Timeline turns green when the process is complete?
    3. Is your computer optimized, defragmented, cleaned up, scratch files directed to an external hard drive (NTFS formatted), etc. If you are using an external hard drive for the scratch files, is there enough space there for them?
    4. What is your computer operating system and what are its resources, such as, available RAM and free hard drive space. Have you checked your computer's virtual memory set up?
Stay the course on this to rule in or out the above non wmv approach to getting your slideshow as a DVD-VIDEO. But if you do decide to detour over to Save As File Movie .wmv and you are dealing with oversized photos and an offending component in the slideshow, the the writing of the .wmv becomes a possible focus point for errors. And, if the .wmv is destined for DVD-VIDEO, then use the file size (also known as profile) = NTSC DVD (720 x 480).
I suspect that the problem core goes to
    (a) use of oversized photos
    (b) offending component in slideshow
    (c) size of slideshow
    (d) computer resources
    (e) combination of all or any one of above
I will continue to watch for your progress.

How to transfer the photo captions from Photoshop Elements 12 organizer to Adobe Revel albums ?

Thks for the contribution. However, it seems I cannot solve my problem with the kindly proposed solution.
    Let me rephrase my problem:
I off-line prepare, organize photos and also add manually individual photo captions with PE12 Organizer. In the properties panel, I can check that the photo properties (including captions) are properly associated with the photo.
However when I upload on Revel -directly with PE12 Organizer (selecting Share/Private Web Album)- these individual (accordingly captioned) photos or albums, I cannot find the photo captions (i.e. the photo caption did not directly show up with the photo in Revel). This obliges me to a double work by copying  and pasting each photo caption.
Is there any plan to get rid of that ?
Let me add that I am using the French version of PE12
