Wrong default printer at pop up

To  all Exports
I changed the default printer through SU01-> defaults -> Outputdivice
but when i try to print through the print icon, the pop up still shows me the old printer that
was written as default printer.
How can i make the pop up to show the deafult printer to the new one?
Thanks in advance

  • Wrong default printer crashes program

Using PSE 9. When printing it selects an old printer that is no longer available. When I select the correct printer the program crashes. How do I reset the default printer? I've un-installed and re-installed with no solution. Computer is a PC running Windows 7 Professional.

Printer works with all other apps. I have been able to print with an earlier version of PSE (4.0), but just upgraded to v9. It's not the printer ... printer works just fine. PSE posts the following error when I switch to the correct printer then back to the initial selection (which no longer exists):
"could not complete your request because an error occurred while printing". It did just occur to me that I'm connected to the printer through the router, to which the printer is also connected ... I guess it's possible that I need to be USB connected to the printer for PSE to sort it out ... but that's not very logical.
BTW, I'm a computer tech and have been since 1983, so when I have a problem ... it's typically a real PROBLEM in capital letters, if you know what I mean. All the easy stuff has long since been tried. Thanks for the suggestions.

  • IPrint Policy - Wrong Default Printer

    Hey all,
Just wondering if you've seen this behavior before.
We have three iPrint printers assigned through an iPrint policy (Printer A, B, C) that are all the same make/model.
Printer A is set as the default.
We added a new iPrint object to the policy for a fourth printer, which is a different model than the rest, and that printer is now the default on the workstation(s) even though we did not check the box to make it so.
    Environment:
    Windows 7 Enterprise x86
    Novell Client 2.0 SP1 (IR8)
    ZCM 10.3.0
    iPrint Client 5.3.0.0
    Ideas?
    Jacob

Well, we have a temporary solution that may go into place soon depending on management approval - a ZCM system tray icon with a recognizable icon that uses iprintcmd to add the color printer temporarily for the currently logged in user. This still doesn't fix the issue of ZCM iPrint policies not working like they should...

Make sure that '''''Print to File''''' isn't selected in the native print dialog box ''(see screenshot below)'' middle-right, and make sure your Printer is selected at the top of that dialog box.

  • Set default printer in Photoshop CS4

I'm a long-time Photoshop user (since Photoshop 3), upgraded to CS4 many months ago, and just updated my printer.  It is one of these all-in-one jobs that prints, copies, and faxes.  It has two printer device drivers: one for normal printing and one for the fax function.  The problem is (I think) that it seems to default in Photoshop to the fax function.  Therefore, when I try to print out a 4x6 photo @ 200ppi, it still defaults to 8 1/2 x 11 format (that you would get with a fax machine).
In CS4, from the main menu, File > Print.  In the pop-up it says 8.5 ins x 11in.  I checked [X] Scale to fit Media, and now it says print resolution 109ppi (yikes ... I wanted 200ppi).  "Bounding Box" was checked as a default, so I left it checked (what is that, anyway)?  The 8.5 x 11 does not go away.  Clicked [Print].
A Print menu pops up.  It says, for some strange reason, HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Series fax ... yikes ... in last screen it didn't say fax, so I selected the 8500 option without fax (presume that is the printer). Clecked Preferences, and got "Printing Preferences" popup.  My default printing shortcut was selected (which is for mornal B&W draft-quality text) -- so I checked Photo Printing-Borderles.  Paper size defaluted to Borderless 4x6in, HP Advanced Photo Papers, Best Quality, grayscale off, and changed orientation from landscape to Portrait.  Under "Features" Basic Options were HP Advanced Photo Papers, Best Quality, Portrait (instead of Landscape) ... paper size was set to Borderless 4x6in.  Print in Color.  Clicked OK. That closed the Popup and returned me to the Print panel.  Clicked "Print"
    Got a 1.25" wide by 2" high print ... NOT a 4x6.
As I dig down into the menus, it appears to be initially defaulting to the "FAX" drivers for CS4, not the printer drivers.  That's probably why it keeps coming up 8 1/2 x 11 at 109ppi.
    What did I do wrong?
    Thanks !!

Photoshop CS4 uses an old (introduced in Win16?) printing API that limits the printer name length to 30 or 31 characters. With your printer name, that gets you halfway into "Series" and anything past that will be ignored.
The simple solution is to rename your printer to something shorter. Go into the control panel, printers and faxes, and right-click on the printer and choose "Rename" and rename the printer. That should resolve the problem.

  • Default printer settings for HP Deskjet 882c

All I want to do is set this printer to print in black and white by default. If I wanted color, I would use my other printer ... I want faster than a snails pace so I brought this one back out.
Being a PC for my entire life, this should be an easy thing to set the default print settings on the printer. I don't see them!
What I am printing is emails off hotmail ... tons of them ... going back months ... so please don't ask me to add an additional step here ...
Pulling my hair out here ... help would be lovely!

You are on the right track for sure. The claim code is in fact printed in blue, so if your color inks are low or empty it will not show up.
I noticed there are 2 version of the 6500A, I will go under the assumption that you do not have the 'Plus' version since you didn't specify this, shouldn't be a big discrepancy either way (let me know if I am wrong).
Viewing your ink levels is covered here, your Cyan ink cartridge could be empty : http://goo.gl/RjIhbp
You can still find the claim code on the front panel of your printer without color ink. Go back to web services on your printers display and it will show your "*@hpeprint.com" email address. The prefix before the "@" is in fact your code.
Also note that your code has most likely expired, which happens after 24 hours of being generated. Not a big deal. If your code has expired you will have to reset the web services in your printer, this will generate a new printer code. You can do this easily from the front panel of your printer.
Follow this link and expand the section “What if I lose my printer code before registering?” under “Frequently asked questions (FAQs)”
    http://goo.gl/0WUyIe
(*a note on step 4, some firmware updates may have simplified this entire step to be simply “remove web services”)
After enabling the web services again the printer code area will still be blank if you are out of cyan ink.
Regardless the new code will display on the front panel (under web services).
I hope this gets you going with ePrint. Let me know if you are having issues printing in color beyond this, or if you are still experiencing difficulties with ePrint.

  • Network shared printers stop working; default printer changes

    Hello,
Have an odd printing issue that seems to be ongoing and am trying to come up with a good solution or fix for it.
We have an environment that has a Windows 2012R2 Print Server, that is sharing various printers which are also set to List in Directory.  Some of the printers are HP and are using the HP Universal driver which shows as "True" for Packaged in
the print management window, and some of the printers are Canon which are using device specific drivers and show as "False" for Packaged.  My understanding is that the packaged attribute simply indicates that Point and Print can then download
the driver and install/use it without any security prompts whereas if it is not Packaged, then the driver must be installed on the local server/workstation by an Administrator.  We have Group Policy defined such that all Point and Print restrictions are
    Disabled.
We then have multiple Remote Desktop Session Hosts based on Server 2008R2 (x64).  Users connect to these hosts via thin clients (Wyse) and there is a domain login script using KiXtart that creates printer connections to the shared printers using an address
of \\printserver\printername.  We also set the default printer via the login script each time depending on user's group membership.
Each part of this setup is on it's own routed VLAN subnet, so the Print Server is on 192.168.0.x/24, RDSHs are on 192.168.1.x/24 and the printers themselves are on 192.168.2.x/24.  There is no firewall or other restrictions between the subnets, all traffic
    is allowed to flow.
The issue we are having is two parts, the first is the larger issue, but both are a pain:
    1) Randomly (no discernible pattern/reason/timeframe), some Canon printers will stop appearing in Print dialog boxes from applications when a user tries to print.  It only seems to happen on the Canon printers.  The printer will still show in Control
Panel -> Devices and Printers, but when you right click it and try to go to Printer Properties or view any of the printer settings, you'll get an error saying the printer is not accessible/valid.  I have also tried a WMI query for "select * from
win32_printer" and the printer will not be returned.  To temporarily fix it, we right click the printer, and choose to remove it and then go through the wizard to re-add the same printer from the directory again.  That will correct it and the
user can print again, view all properties, etc.  This doesn't happen to every user but happens sporadically and once it happens to a user it seems to pop up once every week or two.
Now, we have made a change and installed the Canon printers in question locally on the Remote Desktop Session Hosts themselves using TCP/IP ports so that each user logging into the session host will see all of the printers.  This also seems to have resolved
this issue.  So it leads me to think there is some sort of timeout or connection getting dropped, but for no real apparent reason.  This is all on a virtualized platform and so the Print Server and Session Hosts have very reliable LAN connections
amongst themselves.  And further, we never see the issue with the HP printers, they seem to maintain their stability at all times.
    2) The other issue we are seeing is that from time to time the default printer setting changes or vanishes altogether.  It doesn't happen to every user but once it does happen it happens regularly (multiple times a day).  This happens even when using
the locally mapped TCP/IP printer or when using the network print server.  From what I have read and found, this generally seems to be a known issue regarding redirected client printers and some GP settings related thereto.  But we aren't redirecting
any local client printers, everything is network based/shared.
In digging into these two issues I have run across the following error we get regularly in the PrintService Event Viewer log:
The print spooler failed to import the printer driver that was downloaded from \\printserver\print$\x64\PCC\ntprint.inf_amd64_59246c3ac1bd3f2a.cab into the driver store for driver Microsoft enhanced Point and Print compatibility driver. Error code= 800f024b.
This can occur if there is a problem with the driver or the digital signature of the driver.
And digging further into that seems to be that their was an error validating one of the DLL files as seen at the following thread:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/9fe186e4-52f7-4552-a223-b2320cfc9ed5/driver-install-semi-fails-with-800f024b?forum=winserverprint
We get the exact same error that is shown there UNISRV.DLL being flagged as invalid, and have applied the hotfix indicated in KB2701894.
I am not sure the above error is realted to the issues at hand, but figured it is a good starting point to eliminate it as a potential cause of the issue.
Any input or suggestions on what to do to diagnose or further resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

Alan, I'm getting this error 600 in my company. Is there any fix for this problem?
After installing KB2919355 on Windows 2012 R2, when I try to map a shared printer I receive the following error message: A policy is in effect on your computer which prevents you from connecting to this print queue. Please contact your system administrator.
If I uninstall the patch the shared printer maps correctly.
I also notice that if I copy the driver \\server\print$\x64\PCC\ntprint.inf_amd64_a7ac65d1b7714fb1.cab
from a Windows 2012 R2 before applying KB2919355 to the server that has the patch applyed (and rename it), I can map the printer.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for that?

  • Wrong default layout for a new customer

    Hi all,
I hope somebody can share inputs with regards to this issue.
I'm assigning a default layout to one customer group (layout1 for all Group1).  When this was done, a list of customer codes were included in the list and each were ticked from that list.
Second layout called layout2 for the setting 'Set &as Default for all BPs (for Whom a Default Layout Has Not Been Assigned).
Scenario:  A new customer code is created belonging to Group1.
    Issues:
                a.  This new customer code does not automatically follow the setting on default layout which is layout1.  When the layout1 default setting was double
checked, the new customer code was part of the list, but it was not ticked.
                b.  When document was previewed, it uses the wrong layout2.
                c.   The user still has to update the layout1 default setting, ticking the tick box from the list for the new customer code, then clicking update in then
                      layout designer window.
Question:  Is this a normal behaviour of the system?  I thought that setting it as default for certain customer group will be applicable even to newly created ones under that group.
    Regards,
    Cathy

  • How to have Windows Print prompt pop up when printing SBO documents

    Version 8.8 SP00 PL14
I have SBO Print Preferences for Sales Order and AR Invoice set to NOT Print on Add.
I have PLD layouts with defined printers assigned to users.
I want the user to be able to change the defined printer when printing a document.
I don't want the user to have to select a different PLD layout.
When the user prints a document SBO is sending the document straight to the defined printer without popping the Windows Print screen that would allow the defaulting printer to be changed.
Is there any way to make the Windows Print screen pop up?

    Hi Tony,
I noticed too that when you now click on 'Print', the windows print window no longer comes up.
Did you set the PLD template default by user and indicate in Print Layout Manager the correct printer for that layout? (i.e. looks like you need a layout for each printer if the printer is different by user unless the printer to be used is the user's default printer.)

  • Can I make Save as PDF the default printer

I have an application that I only want to Print as "save as PDF." It doesn't seem like I can set this as a default printer for this application or the computer. Am I wrong or will I always need to use the drop down to save as a PDF?

you can't set "save as pdf" as a default printer. you can try CUPS-PDF which creates a virtual pdf printer and you can use that.

  • Setting default printer reverts back to old printer on reboot

Using Windows XP and my HP Officejet Pro 8000, I can set in as my default printer and the next time I boot the computer it shows my old 5600 printer.  Any suggestions?

I think I solved the problem.  Apparently the HP Digital Imaging program (hpotddo1.exe) will lock the computers printer selection onto one printer.  In my case it was the wrong printer.  By disabling the program, my computer will now accept the default designation and stay on it through reboots.  !!  RodCart

  • How to setup default print to landscape in Reportviewer (printmode activex)

We have an ASP.NET (2008) application and use the ReportViewer Web Control to show a Crystal Report on the client browser.
       - We set the "PrintMode" property to ActiveX in order to print to the client's local printer.
       - We set up the Landscape in Crystal Report Page setup.
       - We also put  repdoc.PrintOptions.PaperOrientation = PaperOrientation.Landscape in the program.
The problem is when the user clicks the print icon, the report prints in portrait, not landscape.
Is there a solution for this or is this a software limitation?
    Thanks.

How to setup default print to landscape in Reportviewer (printmode activex)
    Hi David,
Yes, I tried that 1196969 solution first, but it didn't work.  I saw all the discussion in the below thread and it seems a product issue mention by you on Aug 6, 2008 3:19 PM
CrystalReportViewer default PageOrientation  ASP.NET VS 2008
I don't know if the fix works for CrystalReportWebFormViewer4 which is what we have on the web server. I put debug alert in the Javascript of the following file
    WindowsMicrosoft.NETv2.0.50727ASP.NETClientFilesCrystalReportWebFormViewer4crystalprinthost.html
I can see the call goes to the file, but won't get to the window.dialogArguments.paperorientation condition.
When I write out: window.dialogArguments.paperorientation; it pops up "undefined".
Is there any updated solution for CrystalReportWebFormViewer4?
    Thank you!!

  • Override default printer when printing ALV

    Hi,
I have built an ALV OO report.  When I click 'Print', the popup with the print parameters is defaulted according to my default user profile.
I'd like to change the default printer.  I tried to use the parameter 'IS_PRINT' of the method 'SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY'.  It does not work.  I tried to use the function module 'SET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'.  It does not work.
Is it possible to change those parameters at all?  Any idea what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks.

I found out that there is an ALV print version that is considered.  It is by default V04 in our system (abap 7.02).  I can change that version in transaction SALV_PARAMS.  When I change it to V03, it considers the print parameters that I pass to the ALV class.  When it it V04, it doesn't.
I am not sure what the impact of changing the version will be.
    Any idea?
