Wrong email setting

I inadvertently entered my email incorrectly when setting up my new iPhone.  Now I don't know how to change it, can't get any upgrades, because my "account" isn't recognized.  Can't get any apps because I can't get into my iCloud account.  I saw this problem posted back in 2011, but didn't see any answers.  Can someone help me?

Hi trytostaycurrent,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
It sounds like you are having trouble with your Apple ID, which is an email address.  The article below will explain how to access and update your account:

You can change your Apple ID Name at My Apple ID. Click on Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your Apple ID name and password. Click Edit and enter the new information, then click Save Changes. • I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. How can I fix it?

I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. It looked in Mail, which had 5 email accounts set up in it, and for some reason picked the only one that I no longer use because it is for a school that I no longer attend. How can I fix it so that it syncs with the correct email account for notes and calendar? There don't seem to be any settings available other than to check if you want to use the basic features. It also said during the set up that it was setting up 'find my mac' but if I look on the iCloud website there is nothing showing there for finding my mac.
At this point I feel like I wasted my money paying for this supposed upgrade. I got nothing for it but frustration. It even automatically set my security settings to allow only downloads from the Mac store so the first time I went to download something I had to stop what I was doing and go correct settings first. I feel like there should be a security setting to block downloads from the Mac store so I don't accidentally end up clicking the wrong thing and being charged.

iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

  • Set up ID with wrong email...

    Dear apple,
In the process of setting up an iphone with new details, I set up my wife's apple ID with the wrong email (ending .co.uk when it should have been .com), I then went and veryfied my own email address which is now linked to that account. On realising my mistake I found that my wife actually has an account set up from using itunes, so I reset the password and am trying to add my email address as the alternative address but can't because it is attached to an apple ID I cannot verify because the primary email address doesn't exist. Can anyone help me understand how I remove my email from this account so I can add it the right one.
Posting from the correct account now.

Try logging into the account on http://appleid.apple.com and seeif you can change it to have the correct email address, or you can try doing it on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option.

I'm trying to set up a iTunes allowance account for my 11 year old daughter, I set up the account but put in the wrong email address, now it's trying to send the verification email to an old addy I no longer have access to. Help.
I've tried looking at my own itunes account but I cannot seem to find the allowance account, it says I currently have zero allowance accounts.
All I want to do is change the assigned email address.

Who is the email provider? Not all accounts can be set up as POP3

  • I set iCloud up but I have given the wrong email address how do I change it to the correct one?

I set up iCloud when I got my iPhone 4S but I have just realised I have given the wrong email address how can I change it I put .co.uk and it's .com

Go to appleid.apple.com, click Manage Your Apple ID, sign into your iCloud account (using the wrong email address), it should prompt you to verify it and allow you to edit your email there. If not, then it will bring you to a screen that will show you your name, your email, and any alternate emails you have. Click the edit button next to "Primary Email Address and Apple ID" and change it to your email.

  • Got a iphone set the apple id n it was the wrong email address now i can't verifie it how do i delete and start over

got a iphone set the apple id n it was the wrong email address now i can't verifie it how do i delete and start over

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

  • I wrote wrong my email setting up my iphone.

hi, i wrote wrong my email setting up my icloud account.. my imail is [email protected], and i wrote [email protected], later the icloud menu dont let me do anything.. trying to solve this i restore my iphone to ios 8.3 .. now itunes ask me for a password for this wrong email.. help me pls! this email "[email protected] doesnt exist and cant access cause gma.com is not a real email..

You don't really have to have email, just the password for Apple account to activate. If you don't know the password - you have to reset it and use security questions option, since you can't send email to yourself. And if you can't answer your security questions, then contacting apple may help.

  • New iPad user, set up wrong email address how can I change

I set up an iPad for our principal and used the wrong email address.  HOw can I change it to the right one?

You can just abandon the ID and set up a new one. Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap the ID that is showing in there and sign out. Then you can create a new ID right in there.
You will need to use another email address in order to create the correct ID, so I assume that is not going to be a problem if the first email address was wrong.

    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...

  • TS3276 I have my email set up, I can send, but I cannot receive mail.  What could be wrong ?

I have my email set up, I can send, but I cannot receive mail.  What could be wrong ?

SMTP is the protocol used to send mail, where IMAP and POP are the protocols used to receive mail.  ISPs can have different servers for these protocols.
In this case, the specified receiving (IMAP or POP) server, or the receiving user and password credentials, are likely incorrect.
What does the Connection Doctor diagnostic tool report?
Mail.app's Window menu > Connection Doctor
To check or change the settings, select Mail.app's Mail menu > Preferences... > Accounts and select the account you need to edit in the left column.
The receiving information will be displayed for the selected Account, with either POP or IMAP shown.  Confirm with the ISP that your POP or IMAP mail settings are correct per the ISP's recommendations, as well.   And in general, IMAP is preferable to POP, if you have the option of using either of those with your ISP.
