Wrong From address used w/ multiple accounts

Hi;
I have successfully setup three separate mailboxes in Apple Mail (work, personal and a gmail account) and can receive without a problem. When I compose an email, I can also select from one of the three addresses in from drop-down box to select my 'From' address.
My problem is that when the email arrives at the destination, the From address is incorrect! If I select to send from email #2 ("Test User 2" <[email protected]>), it displays properly while composing, but when the email arrives, the "From" address is "[email protected]" with the correct name "Test User 2". Make sense?
Does anyone have a solution for this? Is this a bug?
Thanks,
Rafael

Check your mail smtp server preferences in Mail Prefs > Accounts for each account. That is independent of the "account" dropdown in the message composition window. In preferences > account, make sure that the desired smtp server is selected for each of your mail accounts. Authenticated smtp servers will specify the username with the smtp server info. If any are in error, you will need to go in and edit the smtp server information from that same pulldown menu for each account in error.

In the iOS mail app, when I compose a message, I can select what email address I want a given email to be sent from. I use this feature, but sometimes the email will go out with a DIFFERENT "From" email address than the one I selected. This is a big problem, as I have separate work and personal email addresses. Is there any way I can keep this from happening??

Reply address: is it possible to use another reply address other than the pop address used in my account. I have a special work account and would like to send emails with that address as my reply address...or sent from address

i found out how to do this finally!
    1) set up google gmail account to forward your emails to (from the [email protected])
    2) go to your gmail account
    3) go to settings (cog in right hand corner)
    4) go to 'accounts and import'
    5) go to 'send mail as'
    6) click 'Add another email address you own' - add your [email protected] address
    7) google will send a verification email with code to that email address.
    8) enter code
    9) go back to gmail account  >'send mail as' and select 'make default'
    10) close mac 'mail' program and reopen it.
as long as you have gmail account selected as the primary account in MAIL - mail will now come throught as being sent from that  [email protected] address!!

Yes you can if you replace your email client with Adobe Email Service
Open the Organizer and Click Edit à Preferences à Sharing
Under Email settings click the dropdown menu and choose Adobe Email Service
Then enter your name and gmail address.
Obtain the verification code from adobe and paste it into the dialog to confirm.

I sent e-mail photos from iPhoto using my @me account but I do not find the history of sent e-mails in my new iCloud account. Where can I find the history of sent e-mails?

Using iPhoto as the email client in iPhoto does not creatge a sent copy.  iPhoto indicates in the Info drawer if a photo was emailed by iPhoto (under the Sharing section):
There's no easy way to search for photos that have been emailed. Each photo has to be inspected via the Info tray.
One could add a keyword to emailed photos which would let a smart album keep track of those photos.
A better solution, IMO, is to set Mail as the email client (in iPhoto's General preference pane) and use it.  That will give you an sent copy, better access to your contacts and, if you want a theme, numerous photo themes under the Stationary section of Mail.

  • How to Publish to Revel from Lightroom using a Facebook Account

I signed in to my Revel Account using my Facebook Account.  I'm trying to publish from Lightroom but it's not accepting my Facebook ID and Password.  How do I publish from Lightrrom using a Facebook account or how do I switch my Revel Facebook login to my Adobe login?  Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello
To set up publishing to Revel 1.10  is easy in Lightroom 4. I would suggest that you update to Lightroom 4.4 first. You can goto the help menu in Lightroom and then select " Check for updates" then update to version 4.4. Also make sure you have updated to Revel 1.10
Here is the instructions to do this for Revel as its similar to set it up for Facebook too. It is pretty simple to set up. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS2bacbdf8d487e582-46da1b6f13419e06a64-8000.ht ml
Here you will see the Lightroom Publishing Manager. Click on the Revel tab and then select Authorize  Revel button. You will then be prompted to sign into your Revel account. If your Facebook account log in information is not working then I would suggest to log in with your Adobe ID. You are best to do that anyway.
In the image below you can see that I created separate albums for pictures. Then you can drag your photos to these folders and click publish. Then check your Adoberevel.com to see if the images show. Once you see that they uploaded in the upperleft of Lightroom, then you should see the images show in Revel.
You can publish to Facebook from Lightroom the same way. Just click on the facebook tab on the publishing manager and authorize the Facebook connection with your Facebook log information. You will then be prompted to log into your Facebook account thru a browser.

  • Multiple POP/SMTP Accounts Bug - Mail uses wrong 'from' address

I've be scratching my head over this but can't see anything else wrong so I figure it must be a bug with Mail 4.2:
I have multiple POP3/SMTP accounts configured, lets say:
[email protected], to receive on pop.blah1.com and send on smtp.blah1.com
[email protected], to receive on pop.blah2.com and send on smtp.blah2.com
If I create emails sourced from [email protected], they are sent just fine.
However if I try to email from [email protected], I get a pop-up telling me that smtp.blah2.com is offline and I need to select another SMTP server.
I checked the server settings a hundred times over and also resorted to telnetting to port 25 of blah2.com to ensure it was full working (yes it was!).
[Even Connection Doctor thinks the servers are all good]
So next I try telling emails sourced from [email protected] to send via smtp.blah1.com - Eureka, it works!
But this is a little odd - so I check the received email headers and compare these with the 'Sent' header.
It appears that mail thinks its sending the email from [email protected] but the email actually ends up being sourced from [email protected]!
So I can only presume that Mail is marking the smtp.blah2.com server as down because it is trying to use the wrong source address when sending a message and therefore being refused by the SMTP relay.
    Has anyone else seen this?

    Thanks chaps,
The other accounts are direct POP3/SMTP to my hosted servers - they are not passing through GMail and so it couldn't cause the issue.
I have, however, found the problem inadvertently while trying to run a comparison with Thunderbird - the good news is, its not Mail as such, though it does raise a couple of other questions...
Basically, whichever SMTP server is running on my hosted servers, it does not allow a message with no text in the body, while Google's SMTP implementation clearly does.
As my test messages only had a subject line, they were failing on my servers but working OK with GMail.
    The questions therefore are:
    1. Shouldn't Mail pad an empty message to ensure it goes (MS Outlook works fine with empty messages but interestingly Thunderbird also doesn't)
    2. Even assuming its OK to use GMail's SMTP as a relay, shouldn't Mail use the correct source address rather than making it look like the emails came from my GMail account?
    - I'm not sure if this is 'allowed' with modern SMTP from a security perspective but I think that some services support it.
    Thanks for all your input!

  • Wrong from address being used when sending emails.

I have had a problem just recently on my iPhone 5S with latest iOS 7.1.1 whereby outbound emails are being sent from the wrong account.
When I start to compose the email the correct from address is shown, but then when I enter or select a recipient it sometimes changes to one of my other accounts. This causes confusion and problems when people don't recognise the email account, and potentially will reveal a private account to someone I don't want to.
The default is set correctly, it just happens occasionally after entering a recipient email address.  Very odd and recent behaviour.
If I notice and change the sending account before sending the email then the next time that I send an email to that person it seems ok.  But it can change again at any time.
I just tested and if I change the sending email address it will use that the next time, if I change it back it will then select a random different one following that.  It is very definitely a bug.  I bet you $5 if I call up Apple tech support they will tell me to reset and restore my phone, which will probably solve it for a few months before it crops up again.  Have tried rebooting the phone and turning off and on and switching default accounts, no change.

  • Is there an email account that will allow me to use a different from address with a POP account

Need to be able to delete emails (I have an Optonline address) from iphone and ipad during the day, while retaining them on Mac Book Pro to view and file into folders in the evening.
Seemed like I could have my optonline emails forwarded to a Gmail account and just set up the Mac's mail to use my optonline account, while the iPad and iPhone used my Gmail account.  That worked, except for one issue - when I sent mail from the iPad or iPhone it would use my Gmail address and then people who used "reply" would have their replies sent back to my Gmail account.  I wanted to continue to use my optonline address since I have had this address for many, many years.  I saw that Gmail allows you to "send using a different from address", however because optonline is a POP account, they do not support the settings in Gmail and therefore I cannot get my optonline address to be verified by Gmail, meaning my emails continued to be sent from my Gmail address on my iPhone.
I even tried setting up the Gmail account manually (using "Other" in the ipone settings) and putting in a comma with my optonline address in the address field, but still no success.
Next, thought I'd try Yahoo mail - same thing - only sends mail with my Yahoo account.
Then looked into iCloud since I use that for syncing Contacts and Calendars on all 3 devices - same thing - I can only send email using the @me.com address.
Does anyone know of any other mail account that will work with my POP Optonline email address?  After 10+ years with this email address, having to announce to my world that I am changing my address (either to Gmail, Yahoo, or the iCloud's @me.com address) is something I really don't want to do.
However, leaving just my optonline account on all 3 devices means I am constantly deleting the same emails on 3 devices everyday, which is also just not an effective use of my time.
    Please help!

The only way to keep students in the presentation, though, would be to lock the iPads to that app via the Guided Access mode:

Whether you can do this remotely through one of the various mobile device management (MDM) soutions I don't know.

  • SAPConnect :: FAX uses wrong FROM address

    Hi guys,
We've successfully upgrade our old 4.6C system to SAP ECC6.
We still have a minor issue with sending faxes.
We've installed a Hylafax-server which will send the faxes using a modem.
On this Hylafax server, a mail relay server is installed as well.
Basically SAP (SAPConnect using communicationmethod FAX) will send an email to the Hylafax server with a PDF attached. This email will be received by the mail server and hylafax will fax the PDF attachment.
Hylafax will then send an email back to the address shown in the "FROM" field of the email to indicate whether the fax was sent successfully or not.
Now... everything works perfect, except SAP always sends the email to the fax server with "from" address "0000000000000000@<domain>" instead of the SAP user's emailaddres filled in using SU01.
The weird thing is that we tested this before the upgrade on a test SAP server, and it worked on the test machine..
Also, on the same SMTP node, using communication method "INT (internet)" it works perfectly.
But using communication method "FAX", this problem occurs.
Does anyone has any suggestions on what could be the problem?
At this oment I'm running out of ideas.
    Many thanks in advance.

    We have faced same/similar problem.
We use SAPConnect SMTP for fax. Faxes geet forwarded as SMTP mails to a fax service provider, and gets faxed from there. SAPConnect picks user's email address from user master as "Sender" address. It is working perfectly fine in R/3 4.7 production environment.
We upgraded the system to ERP 6.0 EHP4 on a sandbox server. Now the SAPConnect behavior changed. Instead of using the email address from the user master SAPConnect picks the Fax Number from the usermaster and forms the sender address as "Fax=+faxnumber@defaultdomain". Now our Fax service provider cannot recognize the sender, and rejects/drops it.
WORKAROUND: One workaround that we found was to delete the fax number from the user master. Now SAPConnect falls back to email address from user master. (SAPConnect trace shows "Sender address for communication method FAX not found",  "Use e-mail address for sender").
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a way to set a default From address for my iCloud account?

Is there a way to have mail use my .mac address as my preferred iCloud address?  I have mail configured to set the From header based on the account I'm accessing, so my work email will come from my work account, and my personal email will come from my personal account.  I'd like to keep that configuration.
Unfortunately, I use my .mac address for my personal email, and Apple keeps attaching new, unwanted email addresses to my iCloud account (.mac.com, .me.com and now .icloud.com).  Mail somehow sees three addresses on my iCloud account, and defaults the From header to .me.com.   For a variety of reasons, including personal preference, I don't ever want to use the .me.com or .icloud.com addresses.
Alternately, is there a way to delete the unwanted .me.com and .icloud.com addresses?
    Thanks

I appreciate the reply, but it only gets me partway there.  I already have that option set to 'Account of selected mailbox' so that replies to email on my work account (a non-iCloud account) come from my work email address.
My problem is my personal mail is on an iCloud account that, thanks to Apple, now has three email addresses associated with it.  So when I reply to a personal email,  the 'Account of selected mailbox' option frequently, but not always, chooses the wrong iCloud address for the From field.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to tell Mail that it should use my .mac address for email from my iCloud account, and my work address for mails from my work account.  I'd like it to never use the .me or .icloud addresses.  I don't think there's an automatic way to do that.
I'll likely end up filing a bug report with Apple.

  • Changing From address for Apple .Mac account

    Greetings,
I use Mail with multiple IMAP email accounts. I'm using my .Mac account as my primary "incoming" account although it receives email for multiple addresses.
In my Accounts Preferences, there is a field to change the From address (by default [email protected]) so that when I compose messages my from address would be [email protected] (the primary address I use).
It lets me change this field and asks me if I want to save the changes, but then reverts back to [email protected] as soon as I move to another screen and come back.
Any suggestions on how I can configure Mail to handle this properly? Any other mail client such as Thunderbird would let me do this and it works fine for other accounts in Mail.
It seems that Apple put in a special rule to not let me change my .Mac account even though I can change all the others. That's something I would expect Microsoft to do but not Apple...
    Suggestions?
    ~Josh

I figured out how to do this by setting up my .Mac account as an IMAP account instead of .Mac. It takes the same settings, but lets you make the change to your from address.

  • How can you select the "from" in Mail with multiple accounts?

Is there a simple dropdown to select the "From" field in Mail when using multiple accounts?
All I can find is a support page saying From is defined by the email account that is highlighted and active.
    Thanks

    Hoo,
When you hover your mouse over your name in the from field it presents a little arrow. Click it and it lets you select who you are sending an email as.
Also if your reading an email that you got say to your @iCloud.com email when you hit compose it will automatically select your @iCloud.com email to compose your email.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • Replying automatically from Mail using the main account

    Hello,
We have just changed domains at work and have a new e-mail address. We also still have the old address that is active. I have both accounts set up in Mail but I want it so that if people e-mail the old address when I reply it replies from the new account automatically. I know I can set this manually after clicking reply, but that is a hassle and could easily be forgotten. In Entourage this is an easy feature to implement - there is a preference "Reply using the default account" - but this feature seems to missing from Mail. Is there a workaround?
    Thanks for any advice,

In Mail go to Mail Menu/Preferences/Accounts and enter the email address you want the replies to come in to in the Email Address field
