Wrong height on resizing browser window

making browser window smaller body.offsetHeight is calculated wrong way.. is a 15px difference from window.innerHeight, making window bigger size is ok.

Resizing Browser Window

Hi,
I'm looking to publish my site and have the browser window
resize (or stay resized at) the document size (1000x674).
I thought i set the proper parameters in DW (i have a SWF
inside of it), but there seems to be extra white space on the right
side of the published document...(this seems to be outside of the
1000x674 default size)
i may be missing a line of code somewhere.
any help would be appreciated...you can see what i mean at

Why not just center the page content? Users tend to get
annoyed when the
browser gets adjusted without their consent.

Captivate running in a resized browser window

I have created a 800 x 600 captivate project. I will not be able to control the size of screen that customers run this project on so I'd like to take advantage of the internet browsers's zoom feature. Unfortuantey, when I zoom the browser to 75%, it does not scale the project. Instead it lops off 25% of it from the right and bottom edges (see image attached).
I did some googling and found that there is an easy way to address this in flash ( http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=224812 ). How would I apply this solution to my Captivate published files?
Any assistance would be MOST appreciated!

You can't add that code to a Captivate project since the program doesn't allow for actionscript code to be executed directly from within Captivate.
However - the default behavior of Captivate is to actually scale as you want it to so there is another reason to why your project doesn't scale.
My bet is that you have added a widget somewhere in your project and this widget most likely contain the NO_SCALE code to allow the developer to see the Widget Properties panel correctly. All of the stock Adobe widgets in CP5 contains this code and that affects your entire project causing it to not scale as you would like it to. Try and delete all widgets and see if your project scales as it should.

I typed about:synch-log into the address bar and got an exclamation point inside a triangle next to a boldfaced message that reads "The address isn't valid."
Below that, in a box:
The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded

* Make sure that you're using forward slashes (i.e. /)

Easiest way to Center imge in browser window

I have an almost full page image that I want to remain
centered right and left when the browser window is resized.
The BG is black so the black should grow evenly when the
resized browser window is changed.
I have tried different alignments but nothing keeps it
centered when the browser is resized.

Question about Behaviors and Open Browser Window

I've created a Portfolio section in my web site. When you
click on one of the thumbnails you get a small browser window
(setup with Behaviors/Open Browser Window size settings) with a
link to visit the site. The problem is in visiting the actual site
the browser window is locked to the smaller size. What am I
missing? I didn't set a behavior for the "visit site" link. But
it's defaulting to the same size.

You didn't do anything wrong. If your browser window is a
certain size, then
if you click on a link in it, it will stay that size. What
you might want to
do is enable the scrollbars and resizing for the web site New
Browser
Windows so when it opens small the user can enlarge the
window. Though you
probably want the toolbars and everything to show so they can
actually
navigate.

My browser window disappeared.

HELP! The first time I opened my Safari browser after installing Maverick, I clicked on the wrong thing & closed my browser window where you search & the web addresses show up & where you can refresh the page. How do I reopen it so i don't have to go to the menu bar everytime I need to search for a new page or refresh the existing one?

Click "View"menu in the Safari menu bar at the top of the screen and select "Show
Toolbar".

Click "View" menu in the Safari menu bar and click "Customize Toolbar".
From the drop down drag the default set into the Toolbar.

Autosize browser window

Hello I am looking for a way for a window to size itself to predeterminded dimensions when opened.
I have seen several examples of having a link that resizes the window it opens but that's not what I need. Only the home page needs to be a certain size, no need to put the open popup on all of the other pages linked to the home page...
Can this be done with a preload script in the header? I remember that GoLive had a behavior for this but that was long ago. Thanks to anyone that can point me in the right direction. -Derryl

Unfortunately, it's not just as easy as deviating from "web standards". Modern browsers now disallow such actions and as such you will find any answer to your solution has less than desired results. It is unlikely you will get an answer that will give you consistent results across browsers. You may need to re-think about what you are trying to achieve.
An example of this:

The code above WILL NOT WORK in Chrome, recent versions of FF and IE9 that I have tested. The reason it won't work is due to browsers actively disabling this ability. I only got it to work in IE7.
If you google "resize browser window onload" you get a bunch of answers/solutions. All more or less telling you the same thing.

#1009 on creationComplete when resizing browser during loading modules

I use Flex 3.5 on Mac with Safari. Same Problem with Firefox.
When I start my application that loads 8 Modules after login and I resize the browser window I get #1009. My views are in ViewStack that has creationPolicy "auto". Normally first time a view and it's childs get loaded is on the first itemClick in viewstack but if I resize browser window, creationComplete method of all views get called and the childs (like dataGrids or others) are null.
Why? and what can I do against this behaviour?

No the Error is thrown in my onCreationComplete event handler when I try to use a DataGrid but it's null.

the modules main view has a viewstack with creationPolicy none
"pages" that are childs of viewStack get created after an event get fired to a PageFlowManager

I found this text somewhere:
The documents are not very clear on this (if not misleading), but what you have to do
is set creationPolicy to none on the canvas, and leave it off of it's children (default to all).
Doing so will create all of the children with recurse=true, or just it's immediate
children with recurse=false. You would have to call the function manually on any children
with creationPolicy set to none. So we choose false.
Now I tried to set "pageContainer.createComponentsFromDescriptors(true);" and somehow the error disappeared. Any ideas if that combination caused the creationComplete event if I resized the window on startup? And if yes why?

Resizing height width of adf components when maximizing browser window

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4. I have one one panelCollection and an af:table inside it in my page. The browser window that contains the page will initially have a width and height of 1030,340. When user maximizes the window i want to stretch both the width and height of the components inside it. While doing maximize i want to increase the height and width of the panelcollection and the table inside it.I am able to stetch the width using stretch layout and AFStretchWidth style. But resizing the height of the components is the problem.
First of all is it possible ? Please help me to get to a conclusion for this.

Even if i use panelstretch layout i need two or more compoennts (table,panelgrouplayout,...etc) need to aligned horizontally inside the stretch layout so it is not stretching the height. To solve this problemm i wrote a javascript which catches the resize event of the window and in that i am setting the height of the compoents depending upon the size of the outer most layout. The javascript that i used is

Resizing a browser window

I have a requirement to be set in the browser(IE).
When a user resizes a window, it is seen that the layers/positioned elements in the page, loose their position/show up in the wrong place. I want to prevent this. I will be glad if someone has a solution for this.
For eg in http://www.rediff.com site, when a user tries to reduce the window size, the actual positioning is not lost and the elements in the page do not shrink. I want to implement the same.

How do I stop text from resizing to the size of the browser window

I am using a DW CS3 template that has a sidebar div and a
main content div - the text in the main content div keeps resizing
to the size of the browser window - I don't want the text to resize
if I make the browser window smaller - I want it to remain the
same. I am trying to float the text right and input a width but
this is not working for me. What am I doing wrong?

The iWeb .Mac slideshow, which you previously tried to add in an iframe, does have a function to resize the window. But it would not cause the whole window to resize, just page within the iframe so you would never know.
However, the autoviewer one you are using should not do this.

Resize animation in browser window with toolkit for createjs

Hi. I'.m a flash newbie with little coding experience. I have an animation that I created in flash that I exported to html5 with toolkit for createjs. It looks good, however I would like to have the animation be proportionally sized to the browser window, so that it can be viewed on a variey of devices. My iPhone seems to adjust the size, however when I view it on the desktop, the bottom gets cut off, and remains the same size when I resize the browser window. Is there any way to have the animaton resize according to the browser window?

Great news! I used media queries inside of CSS and got my home page to work on a nice 1280x720 effortlessly However, i have a slideshow script that has the image running 1000x400 and I am wanting to know if there is a way to access the variable of this script:

I want to access the "dimensions" variable in CSS so I can modify the size without having to create a second image that is slighty smaller... I tried setting the slideshow DIV as a CSS class, but it just simply cut off the image.
