Contact Apple and see if they can provide any documentation of the device swap.

The IMEI number is stored in iTunes:
iOS: How to find the serial number, IMEI, MEID, CDN, and ICCID number
I can't imagine that any police agency in the world would request this information.

  • Why cant apple track my stolen iphone if it connects to the internet after reset. the IMEI number stays the same so i dont understand why they just dont shut it off and call me and the police to inform me about the whereabouts of the phone

Hi, my iphone was stolen around a month ago. After the phone popped up on find my iphone in central london the police decided to be really helpful and instead going to get it they closed my case. Since then it has been offline because the "lovely" individual who stole it obviously reset it. I was just wondering why doesnt apple track phones through the IMEI number. The number stays the same, so if the phone connects to the network they should be able to know that its my stolen iphone. I just dont understand why they dont do that. They have a huge ecosystem, and if someone signs in to my iphone with their itunes account (which they pretty much have to in order to use most of the phones features) the IMEI number gets associated with that perticular account. Would it not be possible for them to realize that its my stolen phone?
    Thanks to anyone that answers.

Your carrier can lock the IMEI number, try contacting them. At least you'll have the satifsaction of knowing the theif can't use it anymore. My guess is Apple doesn't block IMEI numbers because they don't want someone selling a phone without record, and then reporting it stolen and causing problems that way. But that's just a guess, I feel for ya. Good luck either way, if it's a locked phone you should be able to call the carrier it's locked to and have the IMEI blocked.

  • Can i find the the apple ID of the primary owner by the imei number of the iphone

can i find the apple id of the owner iphone 4s by imei number of the iphone

If you are trying to disable activation lock on a second hand device, you need to be able to contact the original owner.  There is no way to look up or find personal/contact information of the original owner from the device - Apple will not help you with that issue either (they will not give out personal information about the original owner to you).  If you do not know the original owner or cannot contact them, then you have a brick in your hands.  If possible, return it to the seller for a refund, as it is useless to you.

  • How Apple can provide iMac serial number associated with the IMEI number in the invoice

My iMac was stolen and I would like to locate it, but I do not have with me the serial number.
The receipt from the store I bought the iMac only has the IMEI number.
How Apple can provide me the serial number associated with the IMEI number in the invoice?

Locating your Mac using Find My Mac do not use serial number.
Use a computer browser to track
    https://www.icloud.com/#find
    Note:
    1. Find My Mac must be enabled .
    2. Mac has Internet connection.
    3. Mac is not switch off.

  • I lost my I phone 4 , how to track it's imei number from the apple id that  I used in that lost iPhone

I lost my I phone 4 , how to track it's imei number from the apple id that  I used in that lost iPhone

The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords.
If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored.

  • Can't find IMEI number on the phone. Screen has broken so I can't access the dial pad.

I can't find the IMEI number in the phone after following the instruction on how to find it. I found a number on the back of my micro sim card but this website wouldn't accept it.
The screen has SELF-CRACKED after having used it for 2 months. And yes it genuinely cracked itself. No, it was not dropped. No, I did not go swimming with it.
I'm trying to get this number so I can send it off to be repaired. For which I am told Sony do this for free for their products that have this problem. You can read about it here:
    WatchDog - Z1 Self-Cracking Phones
All I want is to send off the phone to be repaired ASAP, but insetad I'm wasting my time having to contact customer services for which none of them give me a clear answer, and have to create accounts and aliases on this site which I never intend to use ever again. It is not my fault or any other consumers fault for the majority of problems that arise in these products, it is the manufacturers fault for distributing such faulty goods. Safe to say, I never intend on purchasing Sony products again, nor recommend these to anyone.

  • Recover IMEI number (without the device)

    Hi Forum!
My Bold 9000 was stolen and I did not write down the IMEI number. In order to report the theft to the police, it would be very helpful to have the IMEI. Actually, I thought that this number was stored within the backups that I made (using the Desktop Manager). But I could not find anything like the IMEI number in the files.
Is there a chance to recover the IMEI from some log files? Where would I have to look?
Is it possible for RIM to recover the IMEI when I provide them with the PIN? I am a private customer, not a business customer, and did not operate the BB via BIS or BES.
    Thanks and best regards, Stefan

Do you have the original box in which the BlackBerry came? It would be on the white sticker on the outside of the box.
Otherwise, I don't think the IMEI is stored in a backup file, sorry.

I can advise that Thommo is correct, the IMEI is changed when the Main board is replaced.

  • How can I use a new mobile number under the same Apple--ID?

    Hello there.
Since few days I habe an 5S with a new number. But I can't use FaceTime or iMessage with it. Im Setzlings is still my old number and I can't change it. When I logged in in my Apple-Account and changed my number and saved it, there is still my old number at the settings. Do you have an idea?
    TA.

Log out of your Apple ID with iMessage at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Select your Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out. Follow this by turning iMessage off.
Turn iMessage back on and try to re-authorize your iPhone with your Apple ID with iMessage which should register your new cell phone number.

  • Got scammed. Iphone4 instead of 4s. Was in a 4s box looked brand new. I knew nothing about the diff between them. The imei number on the box is diff to the phone. Can I find the owner of the box cause imei is on box

My 12 year old son wanted a 4s so the I said to him you have to earn it. My poor baby worked everyday after school for one month around the house doing odd jobs. As promised after the month I said to him lets go buy one. He said he found one on gum tree. It was $650. So I rang this guy and he told me I could meet him on his break at worked at the shopping centre. So I went and met him.  He Had a box with iPhone 4s on it and opened it and it llooked brand new as advertised. I know nothing about iPhones or the difference. So I gave him the $650. When my son gets home from school he opens it and tells me its an iPhone 4 not the 4s. My question is. The imei on the box must be linked to someone as its different to the phone. Can I find out who bought the 4s box....so I can kick the living %#*£ out of him. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I have checked the serial number of the 4s box. It's says sorry it's a replacement phone. His mobile number has been disconnected. I found out it was a Vodafone number. The girl at Vodafone told me it was a Vodafone number. I could only get the suburb of where he lived out of her. It's right next to the shop I met him at. I have checked the maps and there is only two roads that lead to the shop. So it's stakeout time. He had a blue Vespa scooter. I know it's only two hundred dollars but I will catch the little runt. And it might take time but the look on his face when I tap him on the shoulder......priceless!!!
