Wrong JRE Runtime Lib Path on Win2K--Admin Server Won't Start

Running Sun One Web Server 6.0 SP6 on a Windows 2000 server, I inadvertently entered a typo in the iPlanet Administration Server's Global Settings, "Configure JRE/JDK Paths" link.
In the "JRE Runtime Lib Path" field I typed "jjk1.3.1_03" instead of "jdk1.3.1_03". Now the Sun One web server won't start, so I can't go into the Administrative Server to fix the Jre Runtime Lib Path. I havent' been able to find any file where I can change that erroneous setting either. Is it a Registry entry?
I also tried adding the correct JRE Runtime Lib Path at the end of the Windows PATH environment variable on the server, but that didn't help.

Yes we checked the Registry settings and fixed the typo in the path associated with the key NSES_JRE_RUNTIME_LIBPATH. That should have fixed the problem, but the Sun One web server still wouldn't start.
Moved to plan B and removed then reinstalled the Sun One web server. Now it starts and all is well.
Thanks for helping everyone. This also raised the issue for us of whether or not we are entitled to individual support from Sun since we paid for the Sun One web server. According to the web site, the answer is NO - unless we pay $3,000 for a support contract. Other vendors who recommended using Sun One with their products say YES. We're still tracking that down.

It looks like there was a problem during initial deployment, in the log you posted it indicates a resource failed to get created by the XACML authorization provider, it would seem you are out disk space:

  • Domain1 Admin Server Won't Start

I'm using Sun ONE Application Server 7.0.0_03 on a Win 2000 server.
The app server was running just perfectly until today, when I added the 2000 server to our windows 2003 domain.
    I did the following:
Changed the windows name of the server.
Added the server to our windows 2003 domain.
When I attempted to restart the app server after rebooting the machine, the administrative server on domain 1 failed to start, but my two server instances in domain1 (server1, and server2) start right up.
The error message I receive on the console when trying to start is:
"Could not start the instance: domain1:admin-server
server failed to start: abnormal subprocess termination
    Instance domain1:server1 started
Could not start one or more instances in the domain : domain1
    Instance domain2:admin-server already started
    Instance domain2:Server2 started
    Domain domain2 Started.
Could not start one or more domains
Press any key to continue . . ."
When I try and start the service through the windows service console I get:
"Could not start the Sun App Server 7 Admin Server (domain1:admin-server) service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. I f the problem persists, contact your system administrator."
    The windows application log reports:
    "CORE0103: Error starting: Initialization Failed."
Any ideas as to what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
    Regards,
    Josh

  • WebLogic Admin server fails to start after reboot

    Hi Gurus,
Weblogic Admin server won't start up after a server reboot. Note that weblogic was gracefully shutdown before the restart.
Also note that the following files were accidentally deleted after the reboot (but I don't think that should cause an issue..):
    /opt/shared/apps/hyperion/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/EPMSystem/servers/AdminServer/data/store/default/_WLS_ADMINSERVER000000.DAT
    /opt/shared/apps/hyperion/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/EPMSystem/servers/AdminServer/data/store/diagnostics/WLS_DIAGNOSTICS000000.DAT

    Issue is :
    Caused By: weblogic.management.provider.EditFailedException:
One probable reason can be some change made to the config.xml file . If you have previous backup for the config.xml file then try to replace the config.xml file and restart the server .
Another reason for this exception may be that there were some changes made to configuration through the Admin Console which were not activated completely and Admin Server was restarted . under this scenario weblogic will create a /pendig dir and have a config.xml file created there with the un-activated changes .
some workaround you can try to restore the Admin Server :
    Under domain dir ,
\pending directory -- take backup and delete the dir .
    Under Admin Server Dir :
data\store --- take backup and delete the dir .
    thanks,
    Sandeep

  • Admin Server can't  start after relocating page file.

    Hi all,
I've recently installed a new hard disk on my pc at work and thought it was a good idea to put the page file there (don't use the same disk for pf and os).
However, probably after that (I hadn't fired up my server just before the hard disk installation) WebLogic can't start up. I'm getting:

Has this happened to anyone else? How do I resolve this?

    Hi,
The manually created WorkManager overwrites the built in WorkManager from WLS, but this new one isn't targeted to the AdminServer. When the AdminServer tries to access the 'default' WorkManager, which isn't targeted to it, the DeploymentException error appears.
    Solution
Comment the default WorkManager and target the WebLogic WorkManager to the Admin Server.

    5.1SP3 works great on HP-UX.
5.2 will probably run well on HP-UX when 5.2SP3 is released (but first we need SP1 and SP2...)

My FMS is running on a Centos-Based VPS.
You can install FMS using the default velues expect installing Apache (as its already serving as your Web Server).
After that, you'll have to open both ports 1935 for FMS (if you choose it by default) and 1111 for the Admin Server.
You can use this SSH command as root user to open a port on your Centos Based firewall:
"iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 1935 --syn -j ACCEPT"
"iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 1111 --syn -j ACCEPT"
If you would like to open a udb port for FMS, you can use this SSH command:
    "iptables -I INPUT -p udp --dport 1935 -j ACCEPT"
    *Without the quotes....
You can use yougetsignal.com to see if the ports are open on your mydomain.com or IP and accessible from the public.
If both ports are open on you Server's firewall, you'll have to be sure that FMS and the Admin Server are running, otherwise yougetsignal will told you that the ports are closed while they're open, because there's no services using them.
To start FMS and the Admin Server, do the following command:
    "cd /opt/adobe/fms"
    and :
    "./fmsmgr server fms start"
    and:
    "./fmsmgr adminserver start"
Now, you have to go to /opt/adobe/fms/webroot/ and copy both fms_adminConsole.htm and the folder "swfs" and paste them somewhere in your webroot (/home/your-username/public_html)
and run it from your domain name by pointing the browser to where you paste the copied file and folder.
Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask,

I can log into the XE database via SQLPLUS from dos after defining oracle-sid; i also had to manually set the ORACLE_HOME env variableDo you have more than one sqlplus.exe on this box?
What is the output of following commands
    cmd> set
    cmd> ipconfig
    cmd> hostname
listener.ora (i changed the computer name to the 127.0.0.1)Why the change?
What happens if you use hostname instead?
If you rename the listener.ora (to e.g. listener.ora_xe) and try to start the listener, what do you get?
btw: i deinstalled oracle10g client....other than Toad 9.7 there's no other Oracle-related products on the laptop.Possibly, there's left-overs from uninstall and maybe it could interfere.

  • Admin listener won't start

I read through the postings regarding "the same" problem. After
installing RDBMS and WAS without problems I end up with one
    problem: owsctl start admin

okay (I installed these products on Solaris 2.5.1 successfully).
Anyone out there with an idea?

I ran it under oracle as it is recommended. After su-ing to root
I got the same effect. Normally root permissions are only
required if one port is below 1024. I posted the current state of
my problem with subject "dlerror in web listener". Thanks, Jim,
for helping me. I could install and run this piece on Solaris
2.5.1 without serious problems (I had to re-link).

  • Changing config-prop temp-path for admin server

I'm trying to change temp_path for the admin-server from /tmp/admin-server-* to /var/run/admin-server-*, like this:
    temp_path=`wadm get-config-prop --user=admin --password-file=/etc/wadm.pwd --config=admin-server temp-path`
    new_temp_path=`echo $temp_path  | sed 's|/tmp/|/var/run/|'`
    if [ $temp_path != $new_temp_path ]; then
       wadm set-config-prop --user=admin --password-file=/etc/wadm.pwd --config=admin-server temp-path=$new_temp_path
       $inst_dir/admin-server/bin/stopserv
       $inst_dir/admin-server/bin/startserv
fiBut I end up with a problem. Eigther set-config-prop will fail because the admin server is not running. Or the stopserv will fail because the pid file is not located where the new config states, so it end's up not stopping anything and I have to manually kill the admin server.
Is there a supportet way of changing temp-path of the admin-server, that does not involve having to manually kill the admin-server?
    Best regards,
    Bjørn Røgeberg

    hi
i am not sure, if you tried this already. but this is some thing you can try
wadm set-config-prop user=admin config=<hostname> temp-path=¨some location accessible by web server runtime user say webservd or UNIX user id¨
    wadm deploy-config --user=admin <hostname>
now if you restart the server instance, it should use the new temporary path.
    hope this helps
