Wrong keyboard-layout after suspend

Hej,
when I put my Thinkpad T400 to sleep (by closing the lid), it recovers from suspend with an english keyboard layout. I have to do a "setxkbmap de" manually everytime.
Running this from /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/ delivers a "Can't open "default display"" error in the logfile and other than that has no effect.
any ideas anyone?
I am using gnome3, if that is of any importance.
thanks

Hi,
two things I can think off:
1. Check if you have set your keyboard in xorg.conf as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … S_keyboard
2. Open dconf-editor, surf there to org.gnome.libgnomekbd.keyboard
I have Layout set to ['de\tnodeadkeys'] there.

  • Wrong keyboard layout after Mavericks update

    Hi,
    after update to OSX Mavericks the wrong Keyboard Layout is selected on Logon Screen after reboot and/or logoff.
    If i change it from "US" to "German" it will show the "US" again after next logoff/reboot.
    Befor the update to Mavericks, the language was only german and this was fine for me.
    Maybe someone have a solution, because i don´t want the US Keyboard Layout at the Logon Screen...

  • Wrong keyboard layout with sgd 4.31.901 client on Ubuntu 9.10

    Hello,
    I have to log in to my work network using the sgd client (.tarantella/tcc/4.31.905) via firefox on Ubuntu Linux 9.10.
    It is working fine except from a wrong keyboard layout. The X and Y keys are switched and all the special symbols are on unexpected places (@#:"|;'\<>,.). I have a normal us-international keyboard. It looks like the keymap is set to a german keyboard layout.
    Our helpdesk doesn't understand linux. And I think it has something to do with the right ubuntu settings coming from the sgd linux client to the server.
    Could anyone please help me with this?
    Bart

    I'm on Ubuntu 10.04 now, and the problem came back. The export XKEYSYMDB=/usr/share/X11/XKeysymDB
    line does not work anymore.
    First I logon to the sgd server. After that I get my sgd desktop, from where I select (for example) outlook. The Windows network password is going well, and it contains a "y". But in Outlook or any other application like word or excel the y and z are swapped.
    Could please anyone help me with this? My work ICT department is not one of the best. ;-)

  • Sun VDI3: wrong keyboard layout (US instead of de_CH) after power-up

    Hi all,
    I have a strange problem:
    Despite trying this trick here .... :
    http://blogs.sun.com/ThinkThin/entry/using_sun_rays_with_non
    and despite editing the "/tftpboot/SunCoronaP8.parms" file and setting the "kbcountry=28" parameter I always get the US keyboard layout at first when the Sun Ray DTU's boot up.
    So to get the correct layout I first have to hit the "Quit" button in the VDI3 login mask -- only after this step I get the correct Swiss German (de_CH) keyboard layout.
    A few infos:
    - OS: Solaris 10u7
    - VDI3 Patch #2
    - Language is English (POSIX C) (this particular customer is a University ... so everything is supposed to be in English anyway)
    - Keyboards: Sun Type 6 USB, Swiss German layout (were delivered with the Sun Ray 2 DTU's)
    I know that with the "GUI" firmware you can pre-configure the keyboard layout ... But this customer specifically doesn't want the "GUI" firmware. The Sun Rays are being used in the University's library and other public areas of the campus ... so we don't want to tempt the students into "playing" with the Firmware's menus (... they are good at using Google too and the instructions on how to trigger the menu aren't really hard to find ...). Password-protecting the menu is "security by obscurity" and the admins don't want that either .... So: no "GUI" firmware here.
    Is there any other reliable way which would allow me to pre-set the keyboard code to 28 ??
    BTW, is this a bug? Or why is the US layout being loaded first?
    Thanks in advance + regards,
    DJ.

  • Wrong X keyboard layout after upgrade

    Hi,
    I have an Eeepc 701SD with LXDE/GDM running on it.
    Today I ran a pacman -Syu after about 2 weeks. For some reason, now my keyboard layout on X seems to be using the US keyboard layout, while it should be abnt2 (I'm from Brazil)
    I still have the hal policy "10-keymap.fdi" there, setting the "input.xkb.layout" to "br" as it was before, and hal service is running.
    Strange that I didn't see any xorg or hal packages being updated, mostly gtk, gnome and gdm related packages.
    Does anyone have any idea on what can be causing this?
    Thanks.

    teletrabi wrote:for gdm >=2.28 you can adjust the keyboard layout in a dialog at the bottom of the login-screen.
    (this dialog appears, when the password field is active) ...this works for me
    Thanks a lot for the tip. This solved my problem. Also I checked the keyboard layout settings at system -> preference -> keyboard and it shows the right layout settings after restarting (not like in the past after gnome 2.28 update).

  • Macbook booting with wrong keyboard layout.

    hello all,
    i've got a 15 inch macbook pro with the latest os x. every time i reboot, it resets the keyboard layout to american english even though i preset it to swiss german. this means that i always need to go to the language settings and change it to my layout, which is quite annoying.
    any suggestions how to solve this?
    thanks a lot in advance and kind regards

  • Problems with keyboard layout after 10.7.1

    Hi,
    After install the 10.7.1, the computer do not recognize the keyboard layout in startup process (when ask for the password in order to open the encrypted volume), and I have to use the US Keyboard Layout to introduce the password.
    The main problem is my keboard is in a Spanish ISO layout, so, I have to remember where the symbols are defined...
    How can I change the keybard layout for the boot process???
    Thanks in advance.
    H.
    P.S: After login, the keyboard layout is well defined...

    Hi @ all,
    same problem here. On my MacBook Air the keyboard layout at the login-screen (FileVault 2) changed to US after the Update to 10.7.1. After I tried to change this back to the German one, my MacBook does net accept any way to enter my password any more.
    It seems that I have to reset my password with the key stored by Apple.
    Do you know how to set the keyboard layout for FileVault 2, so that this doesn't happen again?
    Thank you!

    Stefan

  • LXDE: wrong keyboard layout or keyboard type?

    Hi all!
    I'm running Arch on LXDE, and having a keyboard issue
    I set the keyboard layout during the Arch install (a french keyboard), and on LXDE (editing /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart)
    SO, I got the right azerty layout, but there's some keys I don't have access to.
    Mainly the "alt" ones:
    ie, I can press the "_" key, and acess "8" with shift, but can't acess the "anti-slash" with right alt
    nor the "at" character with alt+0
    I guess it's probably more of a keyboard "type" than a keyboard "layout" issue, but I can't find any info on the wiki?

    I am also facing a similar problem. I bought a Macbook in Japan which had Japanese keyboard layout i.e. which has " over numeric 2 key. Now I wish to change it to US layout which has @ over numeric 2 key.
    I have not been able to figure out how to accomplish this. I tried some settings change in Input Menu but to no avail.
    Can anybody help (preferably with screenshots)?

  • Wrong keyboard layout used by autotype of synergy and keepassx

    Hi there!
    I have a real strange problem. I am a german user with german keyboard layout and everything works fine - except of autotyping apps like keepassx and synergy. Both are applications which type for you and behave like they are typing on a us-international keyboard since xorg 1.7.
    Example: I want to login with keepass into this forum (it's a passwordmanager) and tell it to autotype my loginname and password. As you see I have "Murray_B" as a login. "Murray_B" is stored in the database and worked perfectly for months. Since xorg 1.7 it types "Murraz/B", that's the thing I would get if I would type wit us-international-layout, which is surely the default keyboard-layout somewhere.
    First I thought it is a keepassx-problem, but then I had the same with synergy, if I type on a "remote" computer, I am typing like I have an us-keyboard... Both computers have a current archlinux installed.
    I changed from a statix xorg.conf to autoconfiguration but nothing changed. That's my xorg.conf at the moment:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "nvidiacard"
    Driver "nvidia"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "screen0"
    Device "nvidiacard"
    EndSection
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "Builtin Default Layout"
    Screen "screen0"
    EndSection
    And that's my /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <!-- -*- SGML -*- -->
    <deviceinfo version="0.2">
    <device>
    <match key="info.capabilities" contains="input.keymap">
    <append key="info.callouts.add" type="strlist">hal-setup-keymap</append>
    </match>
    <match key="info.capabilities" contains="input.keys">
    <merge key="input.xkb.rules" type="string">base</merge>
    <!-- If we're using Linux, we use evdev by default (falling back to
    keyboard otherwise). -->
    <merge key="input.xkb.model" type="string">keyboard</merge>
    <match key="/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer:system.kernel.name"
    string="Linux">
    <merge key="input.xkb.model" type="string">evdev</merge>
    </match>
    <merge key="input.xkb.layout" type="string">de</merge>
    <merge key="input.xkb.variant" type="string">nodeadkeys</merge>
    </match>
    </device>
    </deviceinfo>
    Anyone an idea, where I can correct that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    I have a similar problem during login - my bluetooth keyboard will do QWERTY while the built-in laptop keyboard does AZERTY as it's supposed to do. Once I log into X though, the bluetooth keyboard switches to AZERTY...  Not' sure what's going on.
    Note: not plugging my topic, merely pointing out I have something fishy going on too .

  • DBase IV wrong keyboard layout

    Hi Spicers.
    Got an issue here.
    We're still using an old dBase IV application ... yeah... I know... *sigh*
    In orde to deal with al kinds of speed issues, I set it up on a VM, so I can size the machine down. Works fine, no probs, except one.
    Here in Belgium we have AZERTY Keyboards... yeah... I know... *sigh*... again
    De VM is Windows 7, with AZERTY, but dBase IV runs in a command prompt box, and has QWERTY.
    Win7 => no KEYB command anymore.
    Someone got a way to force the AZERTY in dBase IV?

  • MSI GS70 wrong keyboard layout

    To make a long story short: I got an MSI GS-70 with a German layout but i want it to be a US-International layout.
    The seller doesn't sell one with different layouts or (other keyboards) and I want to know if there is a way to still own one with the standard layout
    Thanks in advance...

    Your best bet is to contact MSI and find out if you can purchase a different one. I know that the MSI store sells some spare parts, but I'm not sure exactly what they will sell. You'd have to contact them to find out.

  • How can I get Final Cut 7 to remember my customized keyboard layout?

    Hi everyone, I'm new to this community, my name is Flavio, from Argentina.
    I'm on a Mac Book Pro Intel Core Duo 2, using Final Cut 7 and I'm using a customized keyboard layout (1 for zoom in, 2 for zoom out), but everytime I launch the application I have to go to Tools>Keyboard Layout to change it, is there a way to tel the ap to launch that layout almays?
    Thanks!

    It works for me without doing anything special.  You might try deleting your fcp preferences
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2491
    If that doesn't solve it, describe exactly what your doing to customize the keyboard.
    I assume if you do a "save keyboard layout" from the tools menu: keyboard layout  after customizing the keyboard and then load keyboard layout after relaunching fcp, that at least works.

    Hi
    Looks like you use a wrong keyboard layout. I thin the language settings are wrong!!!
    Maybe you have an US keyboard layout and the settings are set to UK?
    Please check this in the control panel -> regional and language options -> languages -> details.
    There you can add a second language or you can change the first one to another keyboard layout.
