Wrong keyboard shortcut in View menu - Acrobat Reader XI

A bug in View menu - don't say it's a feature!
I've been trying to use keyboard shortcuts to navigate in Reader XI View menu - for painstakingly Show/Hide -> Toolbar Items (before I found you can accomplish this with a right-click on the Toolbar).
Only to realize in View menu there are two sub-menus with the same 'S' keyboard shortcut assigned:  Fill & Sign  and  Show/Hide. Obviously pressing 'S' key the first time opens the Fill & Sign pane and then the View menu closes, so can't use 'S' key to open Show/Hide for more options.
Why couldn't the design devs chose a distinct letter for all the submenus in View? Where was their mind? Is Adobe outsourcing the design, too (to me it 'smells' Asian).
PS: could not find a 'Suggest a feature' for Acrobat/Reader on Adobe site, I got redirected to this forum instead.

  • Keyboard shortcut for context menu

Hello all. I recently got a MacBook and it's the first Mac I've ever had. I'm a keyboard shortcut guy when I can be and one thing that's stumped me is using the keyboard to open up the context menu.
Does anybody know a keyboard shortcut for opening the context menu (ie Ctrl + mouse Click)?
If there isn't one, I would be happy to add a custom keyboard shortcut for it in the System Preferences. I've tried to do so but I'm doing something wrong because it isn't working. Here's what I've tried specifically:
    1. For "All Applications" add Ctrl+Space for the Menu Title "Show Context Menu"
    2. For "All Applications" add Ctrl+Space for the Menu Title "Open Context Menu"
Does anybody know the exact Menu Title for the context menu?
    Help is much appreciated!

The Keyboard Shortcuts are for menu items, not macro creation. What you want to do requires a third-party utility for programming keyboard macros such as iKey, QuickSilver, etc. You'll find these at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • Keyboard shortcut for Sub Menu item Only works AFTER using it

I have a Custom MOVE TO READ Mailbox shortcut. This is a SUB Menu item.. MESSAGE/Move To/READ FOLDER.
It is really sweet to clear out my INBOX and save emails.
So, what is ODD is that that menu has to be Clicked on and shown each time MAIL is run for that keyboard shortcut to work.
I find that Odd and would love to have it work without having to "train" it everyday.

  • Keyboard shortcut fails unless menu is dropped down

I assigned F13 to "Send" in Mail.app, but this shortcut will not work unless I first drop down the Message menu. Every time Maill.app is launched I must first drop down the Message menu to enabel the F13 sortcut. This occurs with Mail.app as well as some other applications not from Apple.
Has anybody else seen this type of problem with shortcuts assigned through the Keyboard and Mouse - Keyboard Shortcuts Preferences?

Although that's listed in the document, It does nothing on my machine and it is enabled in Keyboard Shortcuts. So, if you know the steps to get it working, that would be appreciated. Wired, extended Apple keyboard.
EDIT: Need CONTROLfnF2, which requires two hands, to make it work. IMO, it's much asier to just use the mouse.

  • I need help doing a clean install.( keyboard shortcuts?).Macbook will not read any of the disks/ turns off

I installed a new 'used' Logic board, im my macbook 13.3 and it turned right on!..( i was out of warrenty)
Apple logo and spiing wheel, then turns off..
After reading several forums, I went into self mode, did the 2 checks within in and got an error which pointed to the OS software being currupted..
so I have  inserted the Os disk, the disk-repair disk and a disk warrior disk, but none of them are being read. I hear the Macbook starting to read the disk then the disks are ejected and the systen turns off.
Is there a way i can do a clean install on the HD? shortcut keyboard shortcuts?
or force the disks to be read as the first boot device like of that  in a PC's bios settup?
I have no data on the computer that I wish to save btw.. just want a fresh install..
thanks for any help in advance.

Unfortunately the necessary software to reinstall your OS is not located on the hard drive. If your MacBook will not accept the disks you have you are going to need a hardware repair, probably the optical drive.
If you have access to another MacBook you may be able to install the OS on an external hard drive and use that to boot your MacBook. You may then be able to get any data off of your hard drive.
    Best of luck.

  • How to view an Acrobat Reader file in PowerPoint

I've been searching all over the web to find a way to view PDFs in PowerPoint. I can see that there are ways to convert them from Acrobat Reader. Well I want to know if there is a way to view a PDF file in Reader's view from PowerPoint. I have a huge PDF file that I want to bring into a single slide rather than multiple ones. I didn't know if Acrobat has that option. Is this possible?

I do not understand what you want to do: convert the PDF to Powerpoint, or insert the PDF into a PP presentation?
Either way, this is the forum for Adobe Reader, which cannot help you with any of these tasks.

  • How to disable the world view in Acrobat reader

    Hello all;
I have searched several times now for a way to permanently turn off the global view/page navigator or whatever it is call that appears in the upper right corner of Acrobat reader when I scroll a document.  Some might find it useful, I find it gets in the way and covers the text I am reading while supplying no value as a navigation aid.
I cannot find anything that even references the little view box and gives it a name, much less tells me how to turn it off.
    Help please.
    Thanks Much
    Nick

Really, I get it on all my PCs all the time.  Just scroll a document and it pops up without being asked, then you click it close but no sooner do you scroll again and it is back.
Thanks for looking, I also cannot find any mention of it anywhere, I do not even know its proper name.
Sad, an undocumented, unwanted, unknown “feature”.
    Thanks MUCH!

  • Is there a Keyboard Shortcut to view the Trash?

  • Why does LV(8.0.1) still track the keyboard shortcuts of disabled menu items?

    Hello all,
when I disable a (super-) menu item, the submenu-items are grayed out as expected. But they still accept their keyboard- shortcuts. Is this a bug in LV? If I explicitly disable the submenu- items, all works fine, but the simple method would be nicer and comprehensibly.
I made a VI to illustrate.

    Menu with shortcuts.zip ‏37 KB

    Hi Dave,
it seems a bit strange but at the end it is a absolutely correct behaviour. If you deactivate a menu item than all sub-menu items are deactivated in the menu bar. But that is only a feature of the menu bar. To disable the short cut you have to deactivate the sub-menu item itself. In you zip-file the <STRG - C> is deactivated but the <STRG - V> still works. That depends on the settings in your test3.vi where you defined the items to be disabled. If you add "Paste" to the array of items or if you disable all items then the shortcuts will be disabled as well.

  • Indesign CS4 button flashes after exported to PDF and viewed in Acrobat Reader/Professional X

    Hey everyone,
    Greetings!
I've encountered this odd problem when preparing my portfolio.
I've created some 40 buttons in InDesign CS4 (all according to the official tutorial) to Show/Hide Fields (specificly images), and navigate through the pages.
The buttons all have their own Normal and Rollover states, but no Click states.
After exporting the file to PDF, I tested the buttons in Acrobat Reader 9 and Acrobat Pro 9, and both the actions and the states worked fine.
BUT that's not the case with Acrobat Reader X or Acrobat Pro X.
The actions are still there, showing the images and navigating, but the states are not!
The buttons' rollover states just flashes when the mouse hover above them, and even in Normal state, they kept *blinking* randomly.
    Frustrated for a week.
PS. I suspected and used a Indesign file with only one simple button to rule out the following:
    1. Overlapping buttons
    2. Slow processing due to large image size
    3. Mishandling of transparency
At this moment I'm pretty sure it's an Acrobat thing...Help!

Thanks Dave! I was in the middle of writing this when your post came in:
Not sure if this will help anyone, but I changed the button fill color to white and it seemed to fix the flicker. I exported each state from indesign as a PDF and recreated the button from scratch. This still had the flicker. I'm guessing something strange is happening with the transparancy of the states.
    Glad to hear it's fixed!

  • How do I Reveal/Hide Hidden Layers for viewing with Acrobat Reader (iPad)?

    Hi,
I've created a document in Quark Xpress with multiple layers which I then exported to a PDF. Using Acrobat Pro I created hotspots which revealed/hid these layers on rollover. It works perfectly on the desktop version of Acrobat Reader but not on Acrobat Reader for iPad (where the hidden layers are automatically switched on and touching the hotspots does not hide them). Does anybody know a good work around to this?

There are many features which are possible in the desktop version of Adobe Reader which won't work in Reader for tablets. I think this is one of them. Probably no workaround possible until the feature is updated.

  • Adding keyboard shortcuts for duplicate menu names

I wanted to make a shortcut for the "Use Default" menu item under Format/Fonts/Baseline in Pages. To do that i fired up system preferences and added a new shortcut for Pages and typed in "Use Default" as the name. Unfortunately there is a second menu item called "Use Default" under "Ligature", which gets teh shortcut since it comes first in the menu list.
Is there a way to add a shortcut to a specific submenu subitem, so i can force the shortcut to be for the Use Default under Baseline? This applies not only to Pages but to every application which has duplicate menu names in it.
    Thanks,
    Chris Niski

I probably shouldn't reply and get your hopes up... but I noticed that the Shortcut setup didn't allow for specifying menu names (hah! even tho the text box is named "Menu Name" not "Menu Item") and wondered if there were apps that had duplicate menu names.
I'm no help at all, unless sympathy helps...

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut for saving as a Reader Extended PDF with additional features enabled? If not, how can I make one?

    I'm using Acrobat 10 on a Mac running 10.9.3
    Thank you!

What you can do is use a folder-level script that adds a toolbar button that executes this command. It will give you single-click access to it, but you'll still need to go through the dialogs and save the file manually.
