Wrong Message Content Included In Reply

I encountered a strange problem this morning. I replied to a message on my iPhone and it included the wrong content in the reply. The subject and everything else was fine. Just the content. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?
i.e. I replied to a message like this:
from: [email protected]
Subject ABC
ABC
At the same time, another of my messages was of the form:
from: [email protected]
Subject XYZ
XYZ
The message that went out was:
to: [email protected]
Subject Re: ABC
On <datetime> [email protected] wrote:

The wrong message was included in the reply. I hope I'm clear in my description.
This is a little scary, what if XYZ was something I didn't want [email protected] to know.
I'm using an 8GB iPhone classic (i.e. not 3g) with the latest software, my mail account is gmail setup through imap (not the special gmail setup, since I don't want the from address to be my gmail account.)

I'm actually glad you posted this -- thank you OP. Recently, my replies and forwards STOPPED including the original message as well, 100% inexplicably. I right-clicked one message, chose Reply, and now the Reply and Forward buttons are functioning properly again. You never know when just asking a question will help another user out!

  • Original message not included in reply

    I am using Microsoft Outlook:Mac 2011 and recently when I reply the original message is not included. This does not happen all the time and does not happen if you right click the message and then click reply. I note this was an issue some time back (2007/8) with Safari 3.0 but cannot find any more references to this problem. Does anyone else have a similar problem and have a fix?

  • How to include original message body in the reply to a workflow notificatio

    Hi,
    I have a requirement from my clients.
    Standard Functionality: When a Manager clicks on the APPROVE (button / link) to approve a workflow notification from a mailing application, a (response) mail gets composed to the Workflow Mailbox with the NID and Access Key. The content as shown below.
    ===========================
    Action: 'Approve'
    Comments: ''
    NID[3699/874478985@WFMAIL3]
    ===========================
    Requirement:
    The requirement is that, when the Maanger clicks on Approve / Reject, the original message body also has to get populated into the response mail along with the NID and Access Key.There would be audits conducted(looking into the workflow mail box) on the approval / rejection decisions taken by the users. The intention of getting the originial message body is to identify, to which notification(or letter) this action was taken. Me, being a Technical person can get it from the Notification Id in the workflow mail box, but the people conducting the Audit cant identify that. So, I need to get the original message body into the response. This is the reason for the requirement.
    Actually, I dont need the whole message body, but the value in an URL attribute, which is one of the SEND attributes of the notification in question.
    fyi, It is a VOTING ACTIVITY and hence, I donot know how many users would get the notification.
    I tried creating a RESPONSE Attribute(I understand that, a response attribute is an attribute where I accept inputs from the user), but couldnt assign the value to that attribute.
    Regards
    Anil K A

    Sadly, I believe this will require a bit of development to make it happen. The project I'm on now...we are finding that to get it to do what we want it to do, a development to customize the email message to include all the case fields is required.

    I have 4 email accounts in apple Mail.  My mail is sending from the wrong account.  even on "reply" it sends from a different account.  I have 3 gmail accounts and one exchange server account. I choose which account to send from and it still sends from the same gmail account.  Help.

    I HAD two accounts because of this problem.  I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client.  Guess what is happening??  That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening.  This is incredibly frustrating.  When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system.  COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

    As it can be seen from the logs, the message type is being set to 1. However it should be 2 in case of response.
    The following header properties are being used in the AQ stub:-
    msgID = G20090303035936810.34565d:11fc706dc89:-7fbc@706519011
    from = COMSTOR
    to = BTGS
    doctypeName = Pip3A4PurchaseOrderConfirmation
    doctypeRevision = V02.03.00
    payload = Pip3A4_Response_POA10170020309.xml
    attachment =
    Can you please let us know the reason for the wrong message type being set?
    Regards,
    Ravi Shah

    Dheeraj,
    We have included msgType=2 as a part of the AQ header.
    The logs show that message type is getting set to 2 but still COMSTOR is Buyer and BTGS is Seller.
    Because of this, agreement look-up is getting failed.

    Can we eliminate the Message-id?As per the RFC 2822:
    <snip>
    3.6.4. Identification fields
    Though optional, every message SHOULD have a "Message-ID:" field.
    Furthermore, reply messages SHOULD have "In-Reply-To:" and

    So coming back to my earlier question, why would you want to eliminate the message-id: field?

  • Paypal email message content not found in Mail search

    I've looked on the net and can't find any one else reporting this problem so it has to be something at my end.
    My Mail search cannot find any word found in the message body of an email from Paypal.
    I just upgraded to Yosemite so thought it was a problem with the new OS as I've been able to search message content in OS 10.8 (and previous) for years.
    However...
    I just re-started using a cloned HD with my old 10.8 OS on it and the search isn't working now.
    It finds everything else asked but nothing in a Paypal email.
    This includes messages in my inbox and messages stored in various "On My Mac" folders.
    I seem to remember this happened before, maybe 2004/2005?? Which ever OS version I was using then?
    It couldn't be worked out so I moved over to Microsoft Entourage.
    I don't want to switch email software again but the lack of ability to search is causing me some problems.
    I did open an Apple support case on this and they couldn't give me an answer but said it had been reported already and may be looked at for a fix in forthcoming OS revisions.
    Funny how no one's asked this on any community pages.
    Any ideas?? Am I missing something. I don't understand how it's worked on my older OS for years and now suddenly it's stopped.
    Does search need anything to find words in content that I may have inadvertently changed?

    I have now gone back to my OS 10.8 disc and re-built the folder with my paypal emails in and it is now searching ok so forget what i said earlier.
    I'd edit the original post but it won't let me???

  • Message content not visible in Outlook&OWa but visible in smartphone

    Hello,
    We experienced very strange issue last time.
    One user received properly message on the smartphone and also in Outlook 2007 client, but the thing is that message content (internal text) is visible only on phone and there is blank message in Outlook. Message was sent to user from external sender.
    I've tried to view this message in Owa but with the same result.
    Also i've recreated Outlook windows& outlook profile but without success.
    At the end i've opened this message via MFC MAPI tool and checked attribute "PR_BODY,PR_BODY_A,ptagBODY" where usually there is some internal text message but there is also empty space.
    Can you please give me advice where to look further ?
    Thank you in advance

    yesterday i changed my yahoo password (because my yahoo email acct started spamming all of my email contacts) and i also changed password on my iphone 4s settings but now cant send emails (can get them just fine)
    i get the error "sending the message content to the server failed" and the email gets stuck in the outbox.
    i have deleted the yahoo acct multiple times, rebooted the phone and restored network settings, added other yahoo smtp.mail.yahoo.com server, went to the genius bar for an hour, but no luck.  tried a new iphone at apple store and added my yahoo account, but still had the same error from their phone.
    they said contact yahoo- currently awaiting that reply.
    my gmail acct sends emais fine thru iphone.
    any help appreciated
    thanks

    hi - i posted this in another thread but meant to post it here - oops - i've been following this thread and others for days now - i also have been having safari/email 'sending message content to server failed'/flash 10 plugin problems since latest security/java/qt software update - here's what i recommend and what i'll be doing from now on - before i install any updates via software update i'll be saving the download/installers to a folder as suggested in another topic thread - next i'll be disconnecting my router - and connecting the modem directly to the computer - bypassing the router - once i'm sure configurations/internet/mail are functioning correctly i'll connect the router - all this time my problems were with my router port settings - not safari or flash 10 plugin or mail app - go figure - hope this helps - peace!

  • Why does my IPad say "sending the message content to the server failed

    Why does my IPad say "sending the message content to the server failed"  I have checked the wi-fi connection and everything is fine and the email addresses are correct so what's wrong

    Is it an ordinary mail without attachments and links in the body of the email? If so, try deleting the email accountb and setting it up again.

  • Mail 4.2, snow leopard, mail without message content

    New MacBookPro owner running Mac OS 10.6.2. Migrated everything from older Powerbook Titanium without thinking that through. All of migrated mail AND even new mail comes in with headers but without the message content unless I elect to "rebuild" the mail box each time. Is this a setting issue or what am I doing wrong? I have numerous mail addresses all being managed by mail. No problem on Powerbook but irritating with Mac Book Pro. Help?

    rebuild your whole mail index. quit Mail and delete the file home directory/library/mail/envelope index. start mail and say yes when it asks to import your messages.

  • Cannot send email via AOL on iPad2 - "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."

    My CEO has an ipad2 and I set it up w/ AOL.  She cannot send any email via her AOL account from her iPad.  She gets a message that says "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."   We've tried it on wifi and on 3G (Verizon version).  I've removed the account and added it, I've tried setting it up as an IMAP account vs. using Apples standard AOL mail setting and nothing seems to work.  The SMTP settings are smtp.aol.com, port 587.  I've tried adding an alternate server/smtp, but I haven't been able to find anything that works.  Any advice or other people having this issue?  It works fine sending an email from her aol web mail.  And unfortunately, having her sign up for a gmail account is not an option.  Thanks

    Interesting.  Firstly I have been on AOL since the early 90s with no current intention to switch as my primary personal email account.
    I have two email accounts on my iphone - AOL and my email from my business website.  I deleted both and then recreated first the business account and then the AOL account.  Same error.  Then I wasn't sure what you suggested but I turned off the AOL SMTP server and selected the business email SMTP server by turning it on with the same result.  I still get the error "A Copy has been placed in your Outbox.  Sending the mssage content to the server failed."
    Perhaps this problem will get fixed by IOS 6.   AOL will not talk to me unless I pay and Apple says its not their problem.  So for the time being I use the AOL web interface in the iPhone's Safari to send emails from the phone.

  • TS3899 Tried all the tips on line. Every time I try to send an e-mail, it gives me this message, "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed" Any help in how to resolve would be appreciated

    I went through all the steps to try to resolve getting the message in a box every time i try to send an e-mail. What next ?
    Message is " A copy has been placed in your
                        Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My internet works fine as I can send e-mails from my Yahoo account on my MAC no problem.
    Address is fine etc.

    How long has it been going on? I've had my yahoo mess up and if i wait a bit it resolves itself. Yahoo is doing something with their servers and it messes with your mail if your mail happens to be on one of those servers.
