Wrong name appears under email account

Trying to get my husband's name not to show up under mail on y account. My email address shows up but his name cannot be changed. Please advise.

I updated an iPhone 4 which shares my iTune account to the new iOS. There was some difficulty making this happen, but it finally restored to HER most recent backup, which was just prior to the restore. Since the restore, texts from her device show as coming from my device or email. Solution?

You will have to call Apple and speak to someone in account security.

Incorrect name associated with email account

I have an email account setup on me.com and can't seem to change the username exmaple My Name <[email protected]>. After searching the support site I found a few solutions such as changing it on the Apple ID site, and on the Mac preferences. I even changed it by editing the email XML file and changing the User name.
The user name is correct on the Apple ID site, account preferences on the Mac, iCloud settings, yet when I send an email the name attached to the account it wrong??
Anyone have any recommendations?

To change the "From" name on your Mac Mail, go to icloud.com, sign into your account, open Mail, click the gear shaped icon on the top right and choose Preferences, go to the Accounts tab and enter the name you want to use in the Full Name field and click Done. Then quit Mail on your Mac and re-open it. Your new From name should now appear in the drop-down list when you compose a new email.

Mail adds wrong name to right email address

I type in a mail address and the wrong persons name gets associated with it. I can't fix it. the mail goes to the right person but person B's name gets associated with it. It doesn't work to uncheck auto fill addresses in the mail preferences either. How do u reset and control these actions?

I too have had this problem. I think the problem occurs when an address book from one computer syncs with one from another. Things get jumbled up in the process. Wrong names get associated with email address's. Go into your address book & find the email address & I bet you will see the wrong name attached. Edit the entry & all should be well.

Wrong name showing on emails sent from my wife's iPhone 4s. Why?

The tech at the Apple store switched my wife's iPhone 3G to her new 4s at the apple store. Something was entered incorrectly as now all emails sent fron her phone go out wth her name mis-spelled. If she sends an e-mail directly from her Gmail account it sends with the correct e-mail name. If a gmail is sent from her I phone her name shows as mis-spelled. One of the settings on her iPhone is incorrect... but where might that be?
Driving her crazy.

Check in the mail settings, under that Gmail account, where it says "Account name-@-..." - tap that and see that the name on the next screen is spelled correctly.

Name appearing as email

When I do the iMessage my email shows up and not my name. When I call though it shows up my name. I downloaded itunes on to my new computer and has been doing it since then. I just don't know what I would of done that it would make it appear that way.

Do you have a contact for yourself and set it under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > My Info? If you already did, there is nothing else you can do on your end. They all have to make sure they have you as a contact as well.

All photos disappeared from the corkboard of Iphoto, and when I try to put the new faces there,it does not register anything.The names appear under the photos,but the board remains empty.

All the faces disappeared from the cork board in my Iphoto.When I add a name to a photo it appears there,but nothing appears on the board,there is just the message,how to start.I had alrady lot of faces there and they suddenly all disappeared.I have no idea what to do, or how to start putting up the faces on the board

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Wrong name shows on emails in Snow Leopard email program

My emails are suddenly appearing to come from a name mentioned in an email but one that has not ever in my addressbook instead of my own. Since I volinteer for this person, it is very embarrassing for Her name(misspelled) to show up as the person who sent email from my computer instead of my own name. How do I fix this?

Wrong name associated with my account

Running iChat 4.0, OS X 10.5.1 with my gmail account. I attempted to add a buddy (my aunt) and apparently did so incorrectly. Her name never showed up on my buddy list, and now when I set my account to "View as Name", HER name shows up instead of mine. I've tried deleting the account and starting over, but it must be cached somewhere because it keeps doing this. I've found several plist files related to iChat, but none of them have her name in them, so I don't think that's where it's getting this information.
Anyone have any ideas?

I hate when this happens.... I no sooner finished typing the initial post, when I decided to try one more thing, changing the "Description" field in the preferences. This worked. Oddly, the previous data in that field was NOT my aunt's name, but was my gmail account. Nevertheless, when I changed it to my name, it fixed the issue.
Just wanted to update this in case anyone else ran into this issue.

When I set up a new mail account in os 10.4.11 the default name is my old last name. How do I make it permanently default to my new last name?

Weird Name Appears When Emailing Myself

I like to email myself reminders and stuff for when I either get to work or get home. Just for reference (if it makes a difference), I use Gmail. So here's the problem: when I type my own email address in, the email address is correct, but is lists my name as "Holidays in United States." Now, when I send an email, it looks right to the receiver (Firstname Lastname), when I look at it on my computer, is says "Me" (which is normal), and even when I look at the email on my phone, it shows the correct first name (no last name is shown). Does anyone know why my phone sees me as "Holidays in the United States"? I've checked my contacts (there is no contact in my phone with that name), my phone settings for Gmail (nothing that would change my name is in there), and my Gmail settings on my computer, but there's nothing that I can find (and it's not a problem when I use Gmail on the computer - that shows the correct name also).
Has anyone else seen this? Can anyone help? Thanks!

Little Snitch works like a charm. This way, you don't have to try to figure out which port it's going out on and then having to block it on a Firewall. Snitch automatically asks you and you can go from there. Well worth the $25.

Wrong name listed under Network Servers

Hi, I know this might be a trivial issue, but I am fairly new to Xserves and recently had to reinstall Mac OS X Server on our Xserve.
Now, for some unknown reason, when I go to _Network > Servers_, it lists the Xserve as "imac-kfallon" which is one of the imacs on our network, instead of "pascal-xserve", which is what the Xserve is called.
When I go to _System Preferences > Sharing_, the name is listed correctly (pascal-xserve). How can I change the name under _Network > Servers_ to the correct one?

I managed to sort it out using the changeip command in the terminal to change the hostname.
Once restarted, the Xserve had the correct name.

I have OS X 10.5.8.. I recently installed 2 system updates... I now cannot download attachements in Yahoo mail. Has system updates affected my download ability. Downloads now appear under email msg but without the usual W in pix and just doc. below. tks I

Thanks for your input... I found that a update download from Microsoft Office didn't agree with Sarfari... Reset a couple of Sarfari preferences, resarted a couple of times.... now they are working together and I can open downloads in Yahoo email..
