Wrong name for Iphone in Iphoto

My Iphone name is not coming up in Iphoto, but it does in Itunes.
In Iphoto, it shows up as a generic "Apple Iphone" and it is not recognizing new photos that I need to upload to my computer.  I have tried everything I can think of.  PLEASE HELP!  I have photos I need to upload...

I got this to work doing the following:
First this:
1. Go to your Pictures folder (~/Pictures).
2. Hold down the Control button on your keyboard, click the iPhoto Library file and select Show Package Contents.
3. Locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and delete it.
Then unplugged and re-started my iPHone
then synced my iPhone using iTunes
then repaired disk permissions on my mac
then opened my iPhoto Library file (show package contents) and found a second .iPhoto (library data) file. It was called Library6.iPhoto, and it seemed redundant, so I moved it out of there.
When I next started iPhoto, it found my iPhone. My friend's phone (which isn't connected to my computer) still appeared to be there, which is annoying, but I was able to get to my phone's photos. I hope this helps. Wish I knew which step did the trick...

You're gonna have to restore the iPhone from your last backup with iTunes. You did do a backup before you attempted to update the software didn't you?

  • Who are the big names for iPhone development?

In .NET (C#), the big names are Anders Hejlsberg, Eric Lippert, Scott Guthrie, and Mads Togersen to name a few. All are Microsoft employees. They have blogs and there are lots of video interviews of them.
Are there any similar Apple iPhone developers (employees) that are just as accessible?

Apple used to do that kind of thing. Guy Kawasaki used to be the official "evangelist". Steve Wozniak is still, technically, an Apple employee. Neither really has any official role with Apple anymore, let alone with the iPhone.
So far, the iPhone doesn't seem to need much help. Most iPhone developers are too busy developing to give interviews. There is a fair amount of media coverage. Just this weekend there was a story about iPhone developers in the New York Times. Of course, it was in the "Fashion and Style" section rather than the business section. Make of that what you will

  • ITunes suddenly using old/wrong profile for iPhone?

This happened about a week ago, but I wanted know if I'm the ony one.
When I went to sync my iPhone I launched iTunes and it found my iPhone via WiFi.  I noticed that it said my contents were overloaded by several gigs, and my app bar was much larger than normal.  I cancelled the sync and looked at my iPhone; about 2 and a half screens worth of old apps were waiting to install.  I was able to stop them by removing them in the app tab in iTunes after reconnecting my iPhone.  Afterwords I noticed my iBooks were all messed up -- missing books and books from my library I did not want on my iPhone.  I spent an evening getting that resolved.  Then I noticed that my music playlists were also messed up in a similar way; it turned out that all of my selections under albums, artists and genres had been deselected.  Today I noticed that several of my ringtones are missing, so I'll have to resolve that when I get home.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Does anyone know what could have caused it?

If there is a problem with the backup, transferring the backup will also transfer the problem.
When connecting a new iPhone to iTunes on a computer used to sync with another iPhone, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone to the new iPhone, or set up the new iPhone as a new iPhone or do not transfer the backup. Choose the latter.

  • Lync Dispalying wrong Name for inbound calls

We have Active Directory running on Windows 2012 R2 Domain Controllers.  We have Exchange 2010 and LYNC 2013.  We have presence integration with our Avaya CM ver 6.x.
We have had a few employee's leave and have re-assigned their desk phone extensions to new employee's.  The old employee's were removed from Active Directory and the LYNC server.
On the LYNC 2013 client when a call comes in it is showing the old employee's name on the LYNC Client.
I have deleted the local LYNC Addressbooks at the client.
    Still happening.
Where to look for the file containing the old employee that is causing this mismatch.
    Thank you,

    Hi WillieWinslow,
    Agree with Paul.
Before starting a new test, you can check the following items.
    1. Make sure the contact who has left the company is not existing in the user’s Outlook Contact folders.
    2. (Optional)Run Update-CsUserDataBase to force Back-End to
re-read all the user-related information stored in Active Directory Domain Services.
Delete the .slabs file from the file share sitting on X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000 folder.
    3. Run Update-CsAddressBook
    4. Delete the test user’s Lync profile on the test machine.
After doing the above, it should be able to solve your problem.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Stage.stageHeight gave wrong value for iPhone 5.

    Hi All,
We tested our existing applications on iphone 5, and found out that the stage.StageHeight is still given the iphone 4 value 960 instead of 1136.
Our existing application was built in FB4.6/Air3.1.
Is there any workaround for this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

In order to target iPhone 5 you need to use AIR 3.5 beta or AIR 3.4
pointing to iOS 6 SDK. Be sure to include the [email protected] to
trigger the iPhone 5 size. In other words, the app has to be built
targeting the iOS 6 SDK and have the new default png to trigger the full
    size on the iPhone 5.
AIR 3.5 beta includes the bits that to target iOS 6 SDK, but you can
target iOS 6 with AIR 3.4 by using the external SDK path in the package
    ANE prompt in FB 4.6

  • Mac mail shows the wrong name in the inbox

Mac mail is showing the wrong name for one sender in the inbox. It is correct in the preview pane and when opened.
Is also correct on ipad and iphone. Only wrong in mac mail. This occurred when the person changed their name.
Have already deleted that user from the previous emailed contacts. Have started in Safe mode to clear caches.
System is a macbook air with Mavericks 10.9.4
Thanks in advanced for any help with this.

    What next?
I'd check with the senders whom you receive mail from to be sure they have your name correctly entered in the address book for whatever mail client they're using; I'm guessing the problem is on their end, since we've eliminated the possibilites on your end: Address Book and the Previous Recipients list. Those are the only two places Mail could draw that information from, unless it's in the original message sent to you, which you can confirm by opening a message, then choosing View > Raw Source. Look for the To: field and if the name doesn't match yours, then you know the problem is on the sender's end, in which case you should tell them to correct your name in their email address book.
Can I clear out the email account completely and start again.
You could, but that won't solve the problem. That name is coming from somewhere external to Mail (since Mail doesn't keep any such information), so it's just a matter of finding the source correcting it.

  • File names for photos on iPad?

How do find the file name for photos in iPhoto on the iPad?

To the best of my knowledge, you can't do it on the iPad. But after syncing, you can just click on a given photo in iPhoto and the name will appear in the "title" field in the Information box on the left-hand side of the iPhoto window.
(Make sure you have that little icon of an "i" in a circle checked in the bottom left corner next to the search bar, or you won't see the Information pane.)

  • Cannot Import Video made with iMovie for iPhone/iPod Touch

I edited a video on my iPod touch using Apple's iMovie. The resulting .MOV file that iMovie creates will not import into iPhoto '11. While iMovie recognises the file just fine, iPhoto believes it is an unsupported file type. It's a .MOV for goodness sakes created with Apple's own hardware and program! Very strange. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Hey there. In answer to your question, all other clips that appear in my camera roll are easily seen by iPhoto. It is only those movies that I have created with iMovie for iPhone that iPhoto does not recognize. It's really strange, considering the fact that it's just a .MOV file. As a result, I've had to download a program called 'DiskAid' that allows me to transfer the .MOV file directly to my computer from the iPod Touch.
In answer to your question regarding whether or not iMovie for iPhone was worth downloading, I would have to say yes (assuming of course the import-to-iPhoto problem gets fixed). It's not a perfect program. My biggest complaint is that you have to import clips ONE at a time. There's no 'import all' option. This is really time consuming as you have to cycle through all the videos on your iPod or iPhone and manually tap each one and repeat. My dad likes to take a lot of 1-minute videos that then have to get spliced together and that can be really tedious with how this iMovie is currently set up. However, if you regularly think to add your clips to an existing project as you go along, things should be fine. It could do with a few more features and faster rendering times, but on the whole, it's a decent program. I have a feeling, though, that it was designed more for the YouTube generation who want to upload a five-minute video instead of people like my father and I who like to edit an hour or so and then eventually burn to a DVD. iMovie for the Mac still CERTAINLY has it's place.

  • Hyperlinks with Keynote for iPhone/iPod Touch

Hello, everyone. I bought Keynote hoping to use it to make classroom presentations with my iPod Touch, Apple's VGA adapter cord, and a projector. Although Keynote presentations show up through the projector through the VGA cord, it is not possible in Keynote's full-screen mode to activate any of the presentation's hyperlinks. On the iPod Touch alone (w/o VGA cord), a double-tap on a hyperlink opens it up in Safari. But this is of little use because A) without VGA adapter, no public presentation at all, and B) Safari on iOS is not (yet) compatible with the VGA adapter anyway.
Does anyone know of a way around this problem? Or how to lobby Apple to modify Keynote to allow for easy hyperlink triggers within a presentation, and to modify Safari to be compatible with the VGA adapter (or allowing the user to set an adapter-friendly browser as the default one for hyperlinks in Keynote)?
    Thanks.

How do I import my photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, when I press import I just get a message saying there is something wrong with one of my photos and disconnects my iPhone.

I couldn't find Image Capture at my first try, butI will try again. Do you inow how I can find the corrupted photo on my iPhone? Im a bit lost..
Sorry, I just noticed, I made a mistake. "Image Capture" is in the Applications folder, not Utilities. And it may have a different name on your Mac, if your system language is not English:  Look for the icon with the camera:
When Image Capture can import from your iPhone, spilt the folder with the imported photos in several small subfolders and try to import them separately to iPhoto. This way, you can identify a subset of photos with the corrupted one.
Then try to import from that small subset one by one, until you hit the culprit. And then delete that photo or video from the phone.

  • IPhoto - My iPhoto is not responding. When I click on iPhoto I get a never ending spinning beachball.  I almost think it is looking in the wrong place for the pictures.  How do I redirect it back to the Mac hard drive?

My iPhoto is not responding.  Whenever I click on the iPhoto icon I get a twirling beachball.  It is as if the machine is looking in the wrong place for the photos.  How can I see where the machine is looking to find out if this is really the problem.  How can I see the path?

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then the problem lies with your current library.
If that's the case  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Why are my photo album names in iPhone wrong?

If I sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes (MAC) all the album names in iPhone are not the same as in iTunes. For example, I have an album name "SAVOGNIN" but the photos in there are from "MENORCA" not from SAVOGNIN.

    Hello!
    Try the following:
    1. CLOSE IPHOTO and make sure you have a back-up of your Mac, or at least of your iPhoto library
    2. Find your iPhoto Library in the Finder - usually in the Pictures folder - and click the gear and "show package content" See:
    3. Once you have clicked on "show package content" you see a Finder-window with technical-sounding folders and files.
Trash the folders (if you have them, which is not guaranteed)
    Apple TV Photo Cache
    iPod Photo Cache
    iPhone Photo Cache
    Is your issue resolved?

  • IPhone shown in Windows with wrong name, then with no name at all

Hello there... i have recently upgraded to iOS 5; up until the upgrade my iPhone would be shown in Windows as "Graz's iPhone" , and it would have a DCIM folder with all my pictures and video inside. After the upgrade, the iPhone showed up in Windows Explorer as "David's iPhone" (David is a friend of mine who plugged his iPhone in my pc to recharge it weeks ago) and the DCIM folder had three other folders inside, with weird names, and the pictures and videos in them. To try and solve this, i uninstalled the apple driver from the Device manager, resulting in the iPhone shown as "Apple iPhone" with a generic camera icon, and it not being seen anymore in iTunes. (it would see it and sync it through wi-fi, but not as usb, so I couldn't restore or upgrade it). I browsed the Apple support, and managed to solve this. So now, iTunes works just fine, but Windows shows the iPhone with the right icon but as "Apple iPhone".. and still with the weird folders. Here's a screenshot:
    Solutions? thanks a lot!!

    Hello there... Hello Graz.
Glad to hear that I am not alone. I have the same problem but a bit a reverse than yours.
Recently I had also upgraded to iOS 5 as well. I have no problem using iOS 5 for a week or so connecting to my personal laptop (Windows 7) and also PC at work (Windows XP)
What happened now is that a few days ago my friend (Bob) connect my iPhone to his personal laptop to transfer some of the pictures we have taken on my iPhone. Bob never use iPhone and no iTunes were installed to his laptop. Bob transfered the pictures using this software called "Readiris 12 PRO" (www.irislink.com) instead of the normal "Windows Explorer". He used Windows XP by the way. The transfer went well.
Right the next day, I connected my iPhone to my laptop and started to experience the same DCIM folders problem Graz mentioned above except that my iPhone's name remain unchanged (Maybe the fact that Bob's don't use any iPhone - a bit contrary than "Graz-David" issues). I also noticed that all the pictures were grouped into several "alphanumeric" folders according to the month of the pictures taken. I could not delete some of the folders but I can delete the pictures or copy them onto my laptop.
I had tried many ways to get thing back to normal but NONE of it (refer below) solved the issue I am facing. This include:
Attempt 1: Reset my iPhone through the device itself via "Settings/General/Reset/Reset All Settings" - No data or media were deleted.
Attempt 2: Reset my iPhone throught the device itself again via "Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content & Settings"- All media & data were deleted and all settings were reset. But then I used iTunes as a back up when sync back all my data (mainly apps). All media in Camera Roll were gone, some non-online apps data were also gone. So sad my all 3 STARS achievement on Angry Birds were also gone.
Attempt 3: Reset my iPhone as in Attempt 2 but this time set as a New Phone without back up from iTunes. Quite happy when all those weird folder are gone. Took one snap and reconnect to my laptop. ****! The weird folder appeared again.
Attempt 4: Started to feel like something is wrong with my laptop. So i restore my Windows to an earlier date (before Bob connect my iPhone to his laptop)
Attempt 5: I installed iExplorer for iPhone (www.macroplant.com/iexplorer) so that I can browse my iPhone as an external disk and I couldn't find all the weird folders in DCIM. My intention were to delete them because I cannot delete those folders via Windows Explorer
Attempt 6: Trying to connect my iPhone to other display laptops at shopping mall. Just want to diagnose either my Iphone is a problem or my laptop is a problem. It turned out that those weird folders still exist in DCIM when I browse it through Windows Explorer. So I kind of made myself understand that my iPhone is a problem.
Attemp 6: Restore my iPhone via iTunes (USB Connected) and set it as a New Phone. Almost same like Attempt 3 except that restore process were done while my iPhone were connected to iTunes.
None of the above work. Quite frustrated the fact that datas are now gone and yet problem UNSOLVED.
I know it's quite a simple problem but quite annoying to find out that the DCIM folder is now not as perfectly as it used to be. Furthermore I hate those alphanumeric folders inside it where I can't either rename them or delete them. I attached below images as reference.
Please help me too! Thanks a million
