Wrong name in email address and damaged index in address book

I have experienced this problem for months now. I have a Mac Pro at the office and MacBook Pro at home. The address book is synced with .mac. At random I will receive emails and the mail program will attach the wrong name with the address ( John doe [email protected] will be displayed as mary smith [email protected] ) this also happens in mail I have sent and copied myself on. The incorrect name is usually one that exist in my address book. The second part of the problem which may be related is the index for both address books will get damaged. Every few days I have to discard the address book index file ( AddressBook-v22.abcddb ) which fixes the index issue for a few days. The computers nor the applications ever crash. I wonder if the .mac syncing could be key to both computers having index issues. Rebuilding the address index does not fix the wrong name issue. Both computers are 10.5.2. I feel there is some deeper corruption issue that rebuilding that one index file does not correct. I have also rebuilt all the mail boxes.

SOLUTION: my ultimate solution to the address book confusing contact info in ichat, mail, etc. was to go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ and delete the AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. back up your contacts first!!! but after you delete and relaunch, Address Book will rebuild using the info from the Metadata folder. worked like a charm.

How do I send an email with a group address and not show the addresses/names of the recipients?

Use BCC.   That's blind carbon copy.   And copy paste the address into the BCC field.  It really depends what e-mail program you use how to enable BCC.

  • Airport does not have IP address and Self assigned IP address

Using a 2.66GHz Mac Pro with OS X.6.6 and a Netgear DNG200 wireless and installed Airport Extreme Card and WPA2 security.
In Network click on Airport and 'Turn on Airport' Up comes the message 'Airport dos not have IP address and is unable to connect to the internet'.
Go into advanced and double click 'Network Name'. Supply password even though remember is selected, and message changes to "Airport has Self Assigned IP address 169.254.etc.etc and will not be able to connect to the internet'.
After repeated back to Network Name and double clicking and supplying password eventually connects. Simple to reconnect by selecting Turn Airport On in Menu Bar so long as the machine is not turned off.
    Any suggestions please?

  • Addresses and numbers disapp from address book

    Hi iPhoners,
A strange thing has happened to my iPhone/Contacts. A couple of days ago it turned out that all contacts are still on my iPhone, but the information on addresses and numbers has disappeared.
A side effect is that all calls and text messages are coming from 'numbers' now, and do not contain any names, let alone pictures
    Any solution?
The weirdest part is that my Mac Address Book still has all the information, just like Mobile Me has it all.
    Thanks in advance,
    Carlo

    Hello Quintsys,
Since you have confirmed that the data on MobileMe's webserver is valid, deleting the MobileMe account from the iPhone, re-adding it to the phone and re-enabling over-the-air syncing for Contacts should resolve the issue by allowing MobileMe to push a fresh copy of the contact data to the iPhone. Before attempting any additional troubleshooting, I would suggest backing up Address Book and iCal on your Mac beforehand.

  • Inbox w/ wrong name on email

My inbox receives mail under another person's name with my email address.  For example, "Not My Name <[email protected]>" Any tips on why this is happening and how to fix it?

    Hello msjen781,
Welcome to the Best Buy forum!
You definitely may run into trouble taking advantage of points you have earned if a different name appears when your My Best Buy account is pulled up, which would no doubt be frustrating.  I should have no problem updating the information tied to your account if I can confirm that the name did in-fact change at some point.  After using the email address you registered with the forum to review your information, it looks like a merge performed a couple years ago might be the source of the problem.
With that having been said, I am going to need to gather some additional information from you before I can do anything else, so I will be sending you a private message to gather the information that I need.  To check your private messages, you will want to login to the forum and click on the little yellow envelope icon located at the top of the page.  I look forward to further speaking with you and seeing if I can help finally put an end to the issue at hand for you.
Thank you for taking the time to connect with us and for being a My Best Buy member.

  • Multiple Email accounts and 1 reply to address

I have 3 Email accounts setup on my Iphone one is Gmail one is .mac and the third is my Exchange IMAP email. my question is when i send an email from either my .mac account or my Exchange IMAP account and when the person replies to the message it automatically goes to my Gmail account. the email accounts are setup like this on the phone 1. Gmail 2. .mac 3 IMAP exchange. Does anyone know how to change the reply to address so when I send a message from my .mac account they reply to the .mac account and the same way for my IMAP account?
    Thank you,
    Jason.

I found the Other short cut and that did not solve my problem.
I also tried removing all of my email accounts from the phone except the IMAP Exchange account and I then sent myself a test message and the return address is still my Gmail email address. The Gmail email address is what is set up on my apple account so do you think that when I registered my phone through Itunes that that email address is set up for auto reply on my phone since it is my contact email address on my account?

  • Phone under wrong name? Email problems?

Hello, really weird problem with my phone. It's verified to my email and I pay my bill but apple referees to it as "Gareth's iPhone" which is my dad's name? Also picture messages that are meant to be sent to his phone (my dad) are coming through on mine??? Like his email is still somehow bonded somewhere to my phone?  I just don't get it?

You must be using your dad's Apple ID.
You have to sign out and sign in using your own Apple ID.

  • Delivery report output for'Ship-to party address and Sold-to party address'

    Hi Experts,
We have an report output generated upon delivery creation.
    We need print following fields:
    Ship-to party #
    Ship-to party Name
    Ship-to Party Address
    Sold-to party #
    Sold-to party Name
    Sold-to Party Address
As per i understand, we could get those field according to partner function....
So experts, could please advise me from which table and field and logic to get above information....
    Thank you very much!!

    Hi,
Are you changing partner details in delivery document?
This partner address details will be updated in VBPA table.
E.g change the partner street no.  in delivery document manually.
Now goto VBPA table, enter correspondence sales document number for that delivery and execute.
Click on partner function AG / WE get the address number (ADRNR) .
Now goto ADRC table, enter this address number in ADRNR field and execute. you will get partner details.

  • Taking invoice from one address and paying to other address

    Hi Gurus
Please guide me on this.  This question is extension to the other question i asked a minute ago.
I have a vendor with a payment recipient partner(different address) on it.
Ex: Invoice comes from the main vendor 11111 and check should go to the recipient 22222.
Scenario 1: how do i enter the invoice via FB60? Should I enter the invoice for vendor 11111 because he sent it? if yes, the open item will go to 11111. And i cannot pay 22222 because there is no open item there.
Scenario 2: How would it be if 11111 gets a PO and sends back an invoice. I am asking about the MIGO MIRO situation.
    Please help me.. Points guaranteed.
    Thank you
    Manu

    Hi Manu,
In your example here the accounting data and the PO should be set up at "22222" level.
The Vendor that is sending you the invoice could be seen as a "Head office" partner function or something similar but from a legal point of view you need to make sure you have the correct bank details set up in "22222" to pay them.
I dont believe you need to record from a Finance point of view that "11111" sent you the invoice.

  • Link Local Unicast Addresses and Link Local Multicast Addresses

I am trying to get a hold on Link Local Multicast addressing.  I know that Link Local Unicast Addressing is the equivalent of an APIPA address but can anyone tell me what Local Link Multicast addressing is used for and hopefully provide an example of
it's use?  Beg your pardon if this is a stupid question.  Thanks.
    Michael T. Glenn

    Hi Michael,
Obviously, this is not a stupid question.
The link local multicast addresses are the equivalent of 224.0.0.0/24, which are reserved for the local subnet and are not forwarded by IP routers regardless of the Time to Live (TTL) in the IP header.
They are used for routing protocol or other well-known multicast based communication.
For detailed information, please refer to the link below,

  • Can I change my email address and password on itunes but still open it with the old email and password since my husband has and uses the other email account?

Purchased iphone years ago using our only email address and recently this year my husband finally decided to get the iphone 4 using our email with no intentions on syncing it to computer.  In July I purchased the iphone4 and just recently installed the upgrade ios5 and since then decided to get my own email address but all my devices and itunes account is under our email address and not my new address.  Now he decides to upgrade his phone to ios5 and now we get each others new apps, music and if we get texted though imessage. I assume this is because we have the same email and password account.
How can i change the itune account to my new e-mail address, but my husband keep the same itunes login all on one itune account? or is this possible?

If you change the primary email, you must use that one to login in with, as the primary email IS your AppleID.
If you go to https://appleid.apple.com you can login and change your information for your AppleID account, but you will  see that the AppleID = primary email address.  So, no, there is no way to change that, and still have your husband log in with the old AppleID/email.
Your husband can still use your AppleID after you change the email addres, just using that new email and password (ie. you can both still use the same AppleID, but it now will defacto be your new email address).
Or, if it is just a means to avoid the collisions of iMessage texts, just have your husband create his own AppleID just for use with iMessage.  You can still both use your AppleID for the iTunes and App stores, but in the iMessage settings, he can use his own AppleID instead of yours.
In short - you can each have multiple AppleIDs, and you do not have to use the same AppleID for both purchases, syncing and so forth AND iMessage - iMessage settings can use a different AppleID from the other things.

  • Same device name has multiple IPs and MAC addresses - my fix

    Router: Cisco Linksys EA4500 (N900)
Cloud Firmware: 2.1.139.145204 (no, I don't plan to update this version to the latest)
    Cable Modem Service
So I was playing around with Oracle's VirtualBox (it's kinda like VMware, or Microsoft's HyperV) on my primary LAN-wired desktop in my home network, to create Virtual Machines (VMs, hereafter) to technically preview Microsoft's Windows 10 (may be released next year), and a couple of my other Windows installations.
I ended up launching VMs with the same hostname, but with different MAC addresses (and thus, different IP addresses).
The Linksys cloud firmware displayed all those MAC-IP combinations under the same hostname icon in its Smart WiFi Tools' Device List.
Some people here have complained about this issue, and I'd like to say this has never happened to me before (using the EA4500 for over a year), and I have about 15 devices connecting to my router, a minimum of 5 online at any one time.
With this kind of situation, you can't individually address each of those affected machines for Parental Controls and other configuration options.
What I did to solve the problem:
    1. Ensure every VM has a unique name (change hostname in Windows Control Panel).
(this can be challenging since a cloned VM will initially start with the same name as its master, and the problem will already occur. Once the problem occurs, just renaming the hostname and rebooting the device/VM will not solve the problem. Would be nice if it did)
    2. Get all duplicated devices off the network.
    3. Execute a "ipconfig /flushdns" from the command prompt.
    4. Delete any device (click on the x in the Device List icon) when it goes offline in the Smart WiFi Device List.
    5. Ensure no duplicates exist under Connectivity, Local Network, DHCP Reservations (I use DHCP reservation for a number of my devices so they are guaranteed a fixed local IP)
    6. Hit Refresh (more than once! ) under Troubleshooting, Status to get a list of devices with non-duplicate MAC addresses.
    7. Do the same after clicking on the DHCP client table button on the same page.
    8. Reboot the router (this step was not necessary some times, but I'd do it just to be safe).
    9. Now add the devices back onto your network one at a time.
If there are no more hostname duplications, the VM devices with their unique MAC addresses should create new icons in the Device List page as they connect to the home network.
    Hope the above helps somebody.

  • Can't send email. Is it an IP address problem?

I'm using suddenlink.com as my server. I can get online can get email through Apple main, but not send email. Suddenlink tech support verified my settings are correct and said it's an Apple mail problem. But I switched to some software called Newsletter and tried again and still can't send. The log said suddenlink was refusing the connection from my ip address, and gave the ip address. But that's not my ip address. So I ran Network Utility and used traceroute and it traced that ip address to my real ip address. I hope that made sense. The only thing I can think of is that my computer is sending the wrong ip address, or some sub-address, when I try to use suddenlink mail. This has been going on since I moved six months ago. I need to send through Apple mail to send html email for my business, so this is really killing me. Thanks for ANY advice.

    Hi Dopiii,
I doubt it's an IP issue, but cannot say for certain as I don't know anything about suddenlink.com
Typically, one's inability to send mail is because of a port issue, not IP address issue. When you go to send a message, you send it via an SMTP server (smtp.suddenlink.com) for example might be your SMTP. SMTP typically uses port 25, but there are several ISPs which block port 25 to reduce spam traffic on their network as that port can often be used as a relay port.
    http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port25Blocking.aspx
Other SMTP ports are 465 and 587 and some ISPs will require authenticated SMTP in addition to a custom port.
With all of that being said (and I realize it's a lot of tech jargon), I doubt Apple Mail is the problem. One thing you might want to do is take your machine into an Apple Store and see if they can assist you. Another option would be to signup for a free Gmail account, configure Gmail for Apple Mail and try using Gmail's SMTP (over port 587). Because if that works and the other email doesn't, the issue is not with Apple Mail.
