Wrong name shows up attached to my email address when I send mail.

I reply to emails (or send them) and an unaffiliated name show up as sent from or to. For instance, I write an email to a client from my [email protected] email account and instead of showing up as from Sue VonderBecke, it shows up as being from Elaine Abbey! I think it does this on the inklings account and my gmail account but I can't be sure as it only happens sporadically. How do I purge Elaine Abbey from the system?

Tools menu (ALt+T) > account settings.
Click on the account entries and check the display name is corre3ct.
Click on the outgoing server (SMTP) and ensure the correct server is selected for Default.
Finally make sure the gmail SMTP server is for the account you think it is. IF you use a gmail account registered to Elaine Abbey to send mail for another name Google will very helpfully correct the sender.

Actually I know where you were going and I did have her email address in my files. I have a tracker code at the end so it didn't match but my point is that I think I found the problem.
iPhone to iPhone goes through the phone network and is no problem. When I go from iMessage on my computer to a phone the iMesaage on my computer accesses via the email to the phone. That is why the email address shows up on the phone. We should be able to "Nickname" our account so it shows as something other than an email address.
We have erased all of the conversations on our phones and have started over and it seems to be clearing up the more we use it and understand it's quiky functions.

Previously when I would create an email and start to fill in the "To" box with an email address, Thunderbird remembered my most used choice. Now, auto-complete simply puts in the alphabetical option and I have to scroll through a long list to find the email address I want. Any ideas?

I have a further problem - having selected the address I want from the umpteen options pulled from my address book, I then press enter to add another line for another address.....and the first address I selected changes to a completely different address!
And also addresses from the address book which previously appeared only in black now randomly appear in red.

When addressing an email, Thunderbird used to provide a list of options almost instantly. Now it takes several seconds and stops accepting more than three or four characters until it has finished the first search. Then it works on the next few characters - again more seconds tick by. Most frustrating. Gets there eventually!

Thank you for this response but I am already using version 31.4. I am not a knowlegdeable computer boffin. All I know is that I used to start addressing an email and a list of options would pop up almost immediately and progressively narrow down as I typed. Now after a few characters it freezes whilst searching for some options, accepts a few more charatcers and then freezes again doing another search. It gets there eventually but so much slower. When a list of options does pop up, it takes a while to accept the address selected.

Wrong Name Attached to Correct Email Address in Mail

I use Apple's Mail program to receive email from a couple of gmail accounts. I also use iCal to coordinate those same gmail accounts, plus a few work calendars. One of the work calendars is one called "Holidays in Canada," (just a calendar showing federal holidays in Canada, which are relevant to my job). In the last month or two, Mail has started to list my name on outgoing and incoming emails as "Holidays in Canada." This is very annoying!
I've checked my account settings and my contacts both on my computer and in iCloud, and I don't see the name "Holidays in Canada" associated with my email address anywhere. I'm particularly baffled because the calendar bearing that name originates from a totally separate email address than the one it has now been attached to. I disabled the "Holidays in Canada" calendar on iCal, but that doesn't seem to have worked. I'd really like to just get my incoming and outgoing emails to display my name.
Any thoughts? Thank you!

Reset the device did not help me but it does triggers me to attempt to resend the PDF file attachment on email--and it works the 2nd time. My problem is now solved.
The Adobe Reader is very helpful--it allows me to scroll through the document easily, unlike iBooks, where I cannot scroll straight up or down.

What kind of Mac are you using, and what version of the operating system?
You should be able to select the document that you want to attach and then use the contextual menu (right click in some worlds) to compress the document, producing a .zip file. You can then attach that to the email and it won't appear as a picture within the email.
If I recall this correctly, the "compress" part in the contextual menu may have a different terminology.

My husband surprised me with an iPad the first year they came out. However, when he bought it, he used his name but my email address when he ordered it & had it set up. No matter how many times I have changed it, it still shows up in weird places, like now it shows his name when I send out emails from my new iCloud email account, even though when I look at my account, it shows my name not his, so I don't know where the problem is or how to fix it. According to your profile (and activity list) this ID was created on the forum in 2011 and was last used to post a little over a year ago. This is not your Apple Id, however, nor should it have any impact on your email account..
Do you have an entry in your Contaacts app for the email in question? If so, what is on it? And what is set as your contact in settings? (Settings app > Mail,Contacts,Calendars > [scroll down to Contcats] > My Info ?

If i understand what you are saying then you are seeing the WiFi indicator after connecting but Apps are saying that they are not connected to the internet?
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be to restart your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

Unable to change outgoing email display name on 9930. Only displays email address to clients

I have tried to change my outgoing email display name to my name but when I delete the email address on username field and input my name it says "not a valid email address". Tried on the Blackberry website with my profile and on my handheld device. Why is this so difficult? I can't send emails to clients as on their end it just shows my email address in the from field and not my full name. My email account name on my Blackberry shows the full name I want to display, but it keeps defaulting to my username, which is my email address. I have a 9930 that is two years old. Thanks.

Thanks for the details! When did this issue start? Is your Blackberry on a Blackberry Enterprise server from your company? Is this an outlook Microsoft Exchange email account? This may help with changing your settings:

• On the Home screen, click the Messages icon.
• Press the key > Options > Email Account Management.

"The reply" as in the Rescue email to reset your Security Questions? If so, then you will have to contact iTunes Support directly to get them reset:

Logout (System Preferences>iCloud) then login with the new address and password.
