Wrong number of bytes in MidiMessage?

Hi, I'm implementing a MIDI trace panel. My class implements the Receiver interface, gets the transmitter from a selected MidiDevice and sets the receiver to an object of my class. The send() method is:-
    public void send(javax.sound.midi.MidiMessage midiMessage, long param) {
        byte[] msg_bytes = midiMessage.getMessage();
        String s = toHexString(msg_bytes);
        // add at end of list
        m_list_model.addElement(s);
        // restrict list to last 100 entries
        if (m_list_model.size() > 100)
            m_list_model.remove(0);
        int size = m_list_model.getSize();
        m_trace_list.ensureIndexIsVisible(size - 1);
    }I can breakpoint at this code so the Receiver is working but when I inspect the MidiMessage for a Note ON event from a MIDI keyboard I see 2 bytes instead of 3. I see the status byte and the key number but the velocity is missing. I've tried this with two different MIDI interfaces with the same results. One interface has a low level trace that confirms the message has 3 bytes. Obviously I'm missing something. Anyone any ideas?

Steve,
Your post is really old... but I've just run across it and am having the exact same problem. It seems for some reason that since JDK 1.4 came out... only 2 bytes are being reported instead of 3. I have similar code that worked fine on version 1.3, but no longer works on 1.4
If you have figured this out, PLEASE let me know how to fix it as it's really a pain for me having to fix code that worked fine on another version.
Thanks,
Mark

    Many thanks.

    Hi!
    When you have a cursor retrieving more than one column you need to define a record to fetch the row like:
    v_line C_TBS%rowtype;
    but in your dbms_output you have to use
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('TABLESPACE8NAME is : '||v_line.tablespace_name);
    because you have to refer to the individual column in the record.

  • How to get the number of bytes at ethernt port using tcp/ip?

    I have data with variable sizes.I am getting the data from another sytem using software C.
    How can I get the exact number of bytes coming at the port before using the read command so that the no. of bytes at port has to be given as the input to the tcp read vi?

    Philippe_RSA wrote:
    So may responses saying your question is wrong..... typical of this site, and no decent answer after 5 years !
    The answer I have used is to use a call library function:
    short int ioctlsocket(unsigned long socket, unsigned long fionread, unsigned long *len);
    where fionread is a windows defined constant =  4004667F
    The socket can be obtained from using the       TCP Get RAW NET OBJECT.vi   which comes with Labview (even as far back as version 7).
    Good luck.
    A protocol requiring such a hack is IMHO very poorly designed. You should always have some way on the wire to determine the data stream size. If the data is fixed size that would be inherent to the protocol, if it's variable sized there should be a fixed size header or a known message termination indication that can be used to determine how to read the rest of the message.
    As a side node, I do consider the existence of VISA Bytes at Serial Port a big error, and that is most likely where this question originally came from. Use of "bytes at port" to decode a protocol will ALWAYS lead to protocol errors sooner or later, and code that is unneccessarily complicated to force the routine to deal with the asynchonous reading of the "bytes at port" into the protocol decoding.
    If a protocol can't be decoded with fixed size reads, fixed size reads with following variable size reads determined from information in the header, or a specific message termination indication, then it is very badly flawed.

  • How to get the number of bytes at TCP port

    Hi all,
    How to get the number of bytes to read at the TCp port...as someone had suggested in some forum we do read the number of bytes first and then pass this...
    but we get a problem when we have FF data in this...because then it sends 2 FF data...and cause of this we skip the last data...is there any solution for the same?

    Hi
    In LabVIEW you don't have the same property as in serail port.
    You havn't "Byte at TCPIP port".
    if you developp a protocol, one soltion, is to send the size to read.

              I believe that it has got something to do with the configuration of the
              server and not the code in the JSPs. Have anyone encountered this error
              before? Pls advice thanx!
              Cheers,

  • Java Applet in a HTML page: failing with PLS-00306: wrong number of args

    We are trying to use a Java Applet in a HTML page. as our system needs to be able to retrieve a predefined set of data from a third party system that uses Dynamic Data Exchange Protocol (DDE) and are encountering errors from APEX and in IE itself.
    We are using JavaDde from www.nevaobject.com that enables our Java applet to interact with Windows applications (Third Party System) using DDE.
    This functionality is currently used in our Web Form 6i application and we are trying to use the same in the new ApEx application.
    We are using ApEx version : 2.1 and actually aer encountering 2 problems:
    Problem 1: ApEx failing with PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'ACCEPT'
    Problem 2: IE crashes if Applet used in a complex page with several regions (1 Context, 4 Report Regions, 2 level Tabs, Links)
    This problem does not occur in the page where there is only applet and one region. In the case of complex page the IE crashes if the page is reloaded
    Test scenario:
    1- Create a simple page with the HTML region.
    2- Define the Source of the above region as follows
    <OBJECT CLASSID="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93"
    CODEBASE="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4-windows-i586.cab#version=1,4,0,0"
    WIDTH="1"
    HEIGHT="1"
    ID="simpleApplet"
    NAME="simpleApplet">
    <PARAM NAME="code" VALUE="simpleApplet.class" >
    <PARAM NAME="archive" VALUE="simpleApplet.jar" />
    <PARAM NAME="type" VALUE="application/x-java-applet;version=1.4">
    </OBJECT>
    3- Create a simple Java applet "simpleApplet" - for the test its enough if the applet will have just the init method printing out the mesage to the console
    4- Create a Submit Button (not redirect) in Region Header and create unconditional (do not set When Button Pressed property) Page Branch to navigate to another page (the page without the applet)
    6- Run the page and Submit -
    The error below is returned by the engine:
    In our case our applet is called ddeApplet - I do not know why is ApEx passing the Applet's ID down to the wwv_flow.accept method as a parameter

    "theArrow",
    It looks like whatever HTML you're including on your page is creating HTML input form elements inside the HTML form "wwv_flow". This form is posted to wwv_flow.accept, and of course, the PL/SQL procedure wwv_flow.accept doesn't know anything these additional arguments/form elements you're attempting to POST.

    Why can't I tell Siri "No" to stop dialing a wrong number? It's embarrassing to keep telling the same people over and over that I mistakenly dialed their number. Even if I yell "stop" or "no" it keeps dialing. Very frustrating. Even very simple names. And I talk on the phone for a living. Which is why I need to use Siri to save me time. I speak very clearly. Because of this problem, I've had to even add special code letters before people's names to increase the chances of Siri getting it right, which is only about 70% of the time.

    That is not a feature of Siri. Submit your feedback requesting such a feature directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
    Note that yelling at the phone does not improve the chances that Siri will understand you.

  • Output says "The number of bytes in the file are 0" but the file has bytes

    Dear Java People,
    Why would an output say a file has 0 bytes when upon doing a search for the file in Windows Explorer it say the file has 1 -4 kbytes ?
    for example part of my output was :
    "the number of bytes in TryFile3.java are 0"
    caused by the following lines of code:
    System.out.println("\n" + contents[i] + " is a " +
    (contents.isDirectory() ? "directory" : "file\n") +
    " last modified on " + new Date(contents[i].lastModified())
    + "\nthe number of bytes in TryFile.java are " + myFile.length());

    Hi John,
    Thanks a ton - a nice Christmas gift. Thank you for being a Santa :-).
    I used the same subscript as the one used for in parameter and the procedure compiled without errors.
    A corollary: If (any of the) Out parameter is null (all columns of the row/array), will the array row element still be stored ? May be I cross the bridge when I come to it.
    Merry Christmas.

    Hi,
    Since it contains an out parameter it has to run this way
    declare
    dummy_out number;
    begin
    prc_wa_default_currt_flag(15445,dummy_out);
    end;Regards

  • TOP n sometimes gives wrong number of lines (SSRS 2008 SP1)

    Hello all,
    a workmate has created a dashboard report which contains (among other items) a top n chart item. The user can select the value of n using a report parameter. We have observered that for some values of n and specific values of the other parameters the chart shows the wrong number of lines (bars), e.g. I choose to select TOP 5, but the chart shows in some cases the TOP 6.
    Is such a behaviour already known?
    I will try to create a minimal sample for reproducing this behaviour during the next few days.
    Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Gerald

    Hi Jerry, I already tried this but for some reosan when i add the second filter data mismatches, I have used sort on $$ which is a requirement in my case.

    It displays only ten rows but you can see some of the rows Bro, Chi are missing(not sorted as above) when second filter is added on Desc column
