Wrong path´s in Classic mode after update!

We seem to have a quite odd problem after we updated our OSX Server to 10.4.8. so I´ll shortly summarize what the problem is...
The server has several sharepoints with e.g. logos, Quark documents etc.
We use an old QuarkXPress 3.32 in a Classic 9.2 environment, which worked fine untill after the update.
But now, when I e.g. have an A4 QuarkXPress document where I make an "add" with several pictures loaded from several different shares (e.g. Pictures-, Logos- and so on server), which works just fine, save the document on the server and then move to another mac and open the document the file-path´s of the diffenrent pictures are all wrong (e.g. if picture1.jpg is on the pictures-server the path could be Logos/picture1.jpg). Funny thing is, when I go to yet another mac the path could be completely different again, it´s totally random?!?
Also the status of the picture in QuarkXPress can be "OK" even though I know it isn´t
Does my OSX 10.4.8 server not talk properly with my classic (seems weird because I log on just fine, load pictrues fine but then the path is wrong)?
Are my shares configured wrong (also seems weird because it worked just fine before)?
I really don´t know what to do here, so I though maybe someone on here had experienced a similar problem.
I would appreciate any idea that could help fixing the problem

If you do enough research, you will find that it has happened with every iOS update going back as far as iOS 5 and probably even earlier. I cannot explain why it happens. And this type of thing does not just happen with with iOS devices and iOS updates. Any software downloaded from the internet can go bad and cause problems. I'm not that well versed enough to explain the technicalities of it, but I know that it happens. An interruption in the download, anti virus software, etc., can cause problems when you download and install software.
The only thing that I can tell you for sure, is that you have to restore the device now. There is no hope to getting working otherwise. FWIW, I NEVER update without backing up first, and I don't go more than two or three days without backing up period. I also archive backups in iTunes so I have a dozen or so backups at my disposal at any given time.
