Wrong pictures and trouble playing songs

i got a new 2nd gen iPod touch 32GB and it shows the wrong cover art and wont play all my songs. what should i do? i tried taking them off the ipod and putting them back but that didnt help. and none of the apps work. it always goes to the home screen

app crashing, is a fairly common problem. there are two solutions i know of:
1. download a new app. for some reason (seems completely illogical to me) this can fix it.
2. reset the ipod (hold down the home and power buttons until you see the silver apple)

First, make sure the headphones plug is completely pushed into the headphones jack. Because the jack serves multiple functions, the fit may be tighter than expected (especially if you have the Apple EarPods).
Also, try using the headphones with another device, to rule out bad headphones. Or try another set of (known working) headphones with the shuffle.
Are you using older headphones that have remote control buttons? Not the latest EarPods and not the immediately previous version of white Apple earbuds. Or non-Apple headphones with remote control buttons. It's possible they are not compatible and interfering with the shuffle's operation. Any standard headphones (with no buttons) should work.
If that does not help, you can try doing a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, reinstall its software, and set it to defaut settings. If a software (or settings) problem on the shuffle is the cause, the Restore should fix it.
Otherwise, if the Restore does not help, it may be a hardware problem. If it has been less than one year since purchase, it is under warranty.

IPod mini and recently played songs

I have an iPod mini 6GB which I sync automatically with iTunes.. My playcounts and recently played-date/time is registered in iTunes as it should when I sync with iTunes, BUT 50% of the songs I listen to on the iPod, does not show up in my "recently played" -playlist on my iPod! The same playlist in iTunes is 100% correct though, it is only the iPod! It's like it doesn't know that those songs have been played (but iTunes does)! And this is a problem for me since I submit my last played songs to www.last.fm and I want to submit ALL the songs I listen to on my iPod, not just 50% of them! I have had this problem from time to time before, but in the last weeks it has been like this every day!
Does someone know what is wrong and what I can do about it? I'm so tired of having to play songs over again in itunes when I get home, in order to get them submitted to last.fm..

Make sure you have Enable live updating ticked in the playlist. (Get Info on the playlist)

Music playlist shows wrong cover and too many songs

On my iPhone 4s, I just did the upgrade to iOS 7 (I did a fresh install to be sure) and I am using iTunes 11.1
So now my playlist in the Music app is messed up.
In iTunes, I have both: just normal playlists and playlist-folders (which themselves have playlists)
e.g. A Folder is called "The Alan Parsons Project" and underneath there are the playlists ("I Robot", "On Air", ...)
The problem is with this playlist folders:
On the iPhone, the Music app shows me the right folder name, but it shows me a wrong cover. The same wrong cover for each playlist-folder!
The playlists themselves appear with the right cover
Any other music app (Track 8, CarTunes), that ist able to show the number of songs, shows me the folder names, each containing all my songs!
Normal playlists are shown correctly.
Any suggestions?

Thank you! This was driving me crazy. I had this issue when I initially installed iOS 7. At that time I removed all my music and resynced, and then the correct art displayed. I recently had to restore my iPhone and resync, and the bug of wrong art for playlist folders came back. (Strangely, it consistently displayed the same wrong art and displayed the same wrong art as when it happened before.) I kept removing and resyncing my playlists and deleting the iTunes album art cache to no avail. The fix of renaming the folders worked!

Itunes 10.6 is very slow and rarely plays songs. It will either not show it playing or show it stuck at 0:00

Hey, i have had this problem for a while now and it finally got on my nerves. Itunes has been very slow for me lately and now it rarely even plays a song when i want it too. It either wont register that i clicked the song by freezing up or it will show that the song is stuck at 0:00. Sometimes it does play the song, but i havent figured out why it does at random times and what im doing differently when it does. I have itunes 10.6 on windows 7 64 bit. Any help? No you cannot accomplish what you want unless you
manually manage your tracks. If you on auto sync,
there would be no reason to have to select tracks.
Yes there is a need. If I bring my IPOD to work, and want to play some music, i need to select the track on my ipod as this is where the music is.
My Library at work has no music on it.

Lost original file and cant play song

Hi - Hoping someone can help us out. We got a new computer about two years ago and recently realised that we are unable to play old songs which we had uploaded from various CDs and other media into our itunes library. When clicking on the song it brings up a popup saying that the original file could not be located. I have tried to find it through Windows Explorer but it still isnt working.

What is the size and type of SD card are you using?
Did you format the card while it is in the Treo?

Trouble playing songs

I have an iPod nano 4GB. Ever since I bought it 1 year ago, there is a problem with playing back songs. Some songs are not played back at all and the iPod only plays about 10 seconds of other songs and then continues on. The songs are all mp3 format play on my computer and iTunes. The 10 second play happens to random songs and I have checked the setting on the iPod and iTunes and dont see anything that has an option for this. I have tried retoring the iPod but the problem remains.
Is there a way to play all my songs on the iPod? How do I stop the 10 second playback?

when trying to play videos on facebook, youtube or any other place all I get is a green screen with sound. This is the 4th time this has happened. HP fixed the problem for short time online. need major help.

Hi,
Try the following.
Right click on the video ( green screen ) and select Settings.
Remove the tick from the box next to 'Enable Hardware Acceleration' and then click close.
Refresh the current page and see if the video now plays Ok.

Delay Start and Trouble playing

My Apple TV takes a long time to start playing and when it does, will only play for a couple of minutes before stopping. I have the "wheel" spinning that it's thinking but won't continue play. At first I thiught took time for buffering to get ahead of play, but still doesn't work. Software up to date and iTunes and device have been restarted. Thoughts?

This will be due to the network. It will load a portion before playback and then continue while you are watching. However, if there are network issues it may not be able to continue caching fast enough and thus it will have to buffer while you are viewing. Restarting the device will likely flush the content, requiring a reload.
What is your current connection via speedtest.net
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)

Yeah - this is lame. I got a nano for Christmas and replaced my old one (broke).
1) It won't charge in my 2005 Mini Cooper (Car)
2) It only plans songs in alpha order
I skip all over the place trying to listen to music. I've been all over chat rooms looking for a solution and can't find one.
Anyway - I read GeoChip is the answer to the charging problem. Any try it who doesn't work for GeoChip?
Also - anyone have a solution to the alpha order problem? I've tried ordering the songs (far left column), Apply Sort Field option, created a "Mini" folder with songs in it several times...

My itunes wont work in WIndows 7. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but it doesnt' work. It consistently won't open, freezes, or opens and will play songs but only comes up as the shape of itunes in a kinda see thru box. Any tips?

My itunes won't work on my Windows 7 anymore. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled SEVERAL times, but to no avail. It consistantly freezes, won't open or doesn't work correctly. The only way I can get it to close anymore is to go to the task manager and 'end process' itunes. I do get an error at the beginning saying " the registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please re-install itunes." I have searched the internet for possible fixes to no avail. Please help...anyone!

Lets see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?

Wrong pictures, no-shows, after editing... when running a preview or in full movie mode, iMOVIE does not show exactly the content as was provided in the project field. All files works great in iPHOTO.

Something is wrong with the project that I am working on.
When I add new pictures and movies, some of them will not be played in the preview or fullmode at all. Some pictures are wrongly understood by iMOVIE or there are some kind of weird errors or bugs in the program. I dont really know what the problem can be. All of the pictures and movies are imported from 2 cameras, Kodak and Canon, and they all work great in iPHOTO.
I also use tranistions, text, etc, to make the movie look good.
Here are some examples of the error, all of these picture where taken while running the preview movie. You can see the moment in the movie process by following the red line in the project field window.
1) Here you can see that it shows the wrong picture in the preview compared to the project field.
2) Here it shows the wrong picture and it also displays the wrong picture in an undesired strecthed mode.
3) Here are 2 examples of one picture that blocks the other pictures from beeing seen in the video.
What could be causing these stupid errors and bugz? Until this is solved I have stopped workoing on my movies and project, awaiting a fast fix.

Try this step:
Go to one of the problem points (or even all of the them in the Project Browser) and select it. Under the File Menu>Optimize>Large (960x540). See if will process the clips, still images and try playing it back again.
If Optimize>Large is grayed out, try pulling the clip out of the Project Browser, close iMovie. Open it up again and putting that clip back in its place. Then try to Preview it again and see if playsback properly.
Last thing to try is go to File Menu>Duplicate Project, quit iMovie. Open iMovie, go to the Duplicate Project and see if you get a working Preview from the Project Timeline.

Is it possible to sort my library by both "Rating" AND "Last Played?"

I have been transferring my music digitally since 5 years before iTunes ever existed. I have just finally developed a rating system that I will be able to benefit from. So, I want go though almost two decades worth of my music, and rate all these songs.
I'd like to rate my songs which I've never listened to, while listening to them. Once rated, I don't want to hear the song again until I've rated all songs.
The problem arises because I can't efficiently just shuffle my music and rate, because iTunes will more commonly play my already-rated songs. Even if shuffle was actually random (like it used to be) I'd still have music that would remain unrated before I started getting repeats of the rated ones.
This can not be accomplished with a smart playlist either, because finding only 'unrated' and 'never played' songs will remove the song as soon as I rate it, and stop playing all music in my library. I considered [unshuffled] column-sorting by rating in a smart playlist that only finds songs with a play count of 0; this allows me to start playing the first 0 song in the full list of 0's, but the moment I rate it, it jumps up with the rated songs I've already rated, and continues to play the next track from it's new position.
Ideally, I'd like to [column] sort by Last Played FIRST, and see all the unplayed ones at the top of the list, THEN sort by rating, and view unrated ones reshuffled to the top of that list. But iTunes won't seem to sort in this manner. In other words, It won't re-sort an already-sorted column.
If the rules of my sorting system would help you understand what I'm trying to do, they are included below.
STAGE ONE (what I'm trying to find an efficient process for)
★ - DELETE
★★ - SONG NOT PREFERABLE
★★★ - LISTENED/KEEPING
★★★★ - KNOWN, LIKED SONG
★★★★★ - NEW, LIKED SONG
STAGE TWO
Delete all ★ songs.
Decrease rating of all ★★★★, ★★★ and ★★ remaining songs by ★
[example: select all ★★★ star songs and mass-edit track info and change to ★★ star songs]
New Status:
★ - SONG NOT PREFERABLE
★★ - LISTENED/KEEPING
★★★ - KNOWN, LIKED SONG
★★★★★ - [ BECOMES: ] RE-EVALUTE SONG (since I've only heard it once, after all)
Once I've reevaluated all the songs that are new to me, the ★★★★ category will be reserved for my most favorite songs at the moment.
And all ★★★★★ star ratings will continue to be songs I still need to give some time to before I decide whether I like hearing them or not.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
I know this may seem like overkill, but if I could implement this rating system, I could listen to my music with way less skipping. I'm not going to start deleting songs from complete albums, but I don't need to listen to it if I am not into it. Sometimes a song will be perfect as part of an album, but it's not a jam you're interested in hearing anymore otherwise. Doug's Rate Me! Script doesn't work under my listening habits.
