need to wipe clean and reinstall vista on my pc, have itunes ang iphone please advise. dont want to lose music and apps and contacts etc.
itunes not set up to c drive but to ext drive

Sorry, was thinking of something else. Do you have access to an external drive or a flash drive. It has to be large enough to hold the library and the apps. Applications should be in a folder called Mobile Applications as a sub folder of iTunes. If you have had your library there, that is where you should find it all.

  • Need to reinstall Vista -- What do I do?

I just ordered my recovery discs from Toshiba online... I need to reinstall Windows Vista to its default settings to get my laptop back in working order.  I'm new to this process and I'm not sure what I need to do...?  Do I have to wipe clean the hard drive FIRST?  If so, how do I do that?
    Appreciate your help and expertise!

  • Need to reinstall Vista but key is missing

I have a machine with vista corrupted on it and it needs to be reinstalled unfortunately 4 letters off the key have rubbed away, what can I do about this?
    Thanks,
    Jack

Hi - I have the same problem, the product key on the sticker on the base of my machine has become mostly rubbed off. I want to install a Windows 7 upgrade for my Vista system. Surely the installation will ask for my product key at some stage? Maybe I'm out of date...last Windows OS update I did was on an old machine going from 95 to 98 and that definitely needed the key to be input. Anyway, any help greatly appreciated.

  • No OS on drive so need to reinstall Vista OS before 7 upgrade but Vista discs do not work

With regard to the information below the recovery discs were made when the laptop was new and they won’t work now. How will these discs that can be ordered differ from the ones that were made? The laptop was not a refurbished model.
No offence, but free discs with a $25 delivery charge are not really free. Besides, I am currently traveling in Brazil and it would not be practical to have discs sent here, especially if they did not work. If they are free where can I find a free download? Or, what can a local tech shop do to enable me to install my Windows 7 Professional which I purchased from the Microsoft Store?
    Thanks.

Recovery media [ New ] Options 01-16-2009 04:44 PM - last edited on 10-01-2010 02:12 PM All new Toshiba laptops ship from the factory with the ability to run the system recovery process from a hard disk partition, and with preinstalled software that can be used to record recovery media to blank discs. Toshiba recommends creating recovery media to ensure the ability to run a system recovery even if the hard disk recovery partition is damaged or deleted, or if the hard disk breaks. Reconditioned laptops may not include this recovery enabling software so may require that recovery media be purchased. Recovery media can be ordered online. Click here to begin the order process. There is no charge for the software itself, for which customers already own licenses, and as of 10/1/10 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95 for DVD media or $34.95 for USB sticks. Also effective 10/1/10, recovery media for computers purchased in the US can be shipped to addresses in Canada. • Every time my PC shuts down I need to reinstall Thunderbird on Vista. Why?

Thunderbird works fine, but when I shut down my PC (running Vista) none of the links to open the programme work and I need to reinstall. The folders I set up are still there after the reinstall, as are the messages!
    Not sure what to do!
    TIA :-)

That sounds like Vista rolling back to a known good state on restart. I think you need to check the health of your operating system and it's computer (Memory and Hard Disk particularly)

  • HT5654 After updating iCloud application on Vista I am unable to access iTunes, I get the following message: (Need to reinstall application, APSDameon.exe, MSVCR80.dll cannot be found)    I need some help rectifying  this issue because I cannot reinstall

    Hello,
I have installed the update that was sent on or around January 24th - 26th 2014, after the failure of the apple iTunes update the iCloud update was installed.  Ever since these 2 updates I am unable to open iTunes and I receive the following message: (need to reinstall iTunes application, APSDameon.exe and MISVCR80.dll cannot be found).  I have tried reinstalling iTunes and cannot do so, I really do not want and cannot afford to restore my pc to a previous date because of new data on my PC.  I am requesting assistance from support so that I can rectify this issue, thanks in advance for any assistance you may provide.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Re: Equium P300-P6T - dual boot, need to reinstall but cannot access recovery

    Hi
Have got a friends EQUIUM P300-P6T that he would like me to fix but having problems recovering.
He currently has windows 7 and WXP installed on separate partitions so can choose which OS to boot when loading. The factory for the laptop is Vista but he has replaced that with 7.
However, some of the booting files in Vista have become corrupt and cannot be fixed by the windows recovery so looks like a new install of Vista is needed.
This should not seem a problem but:
    a) I tried holding 0 down as I switch on to access the recovery partition (which does still exist as I can see it there from within computer management if I load xp) but it does nothing so I cannot recover from the recovery partition.
    b) I tried reinstalling Vista onto that partition using a vista OEM disc however, where it it gets to the stage of "completing install" the progress bar stays the same place forever about 3/4 of the way through as though it has crashed.
    c) I did manage to get an install of windows 7 on it however when I loaded it, it would not recognise the keyboard or touchpad (even though no problem with the drivers for each) yet the cursor could be moved with a USB mouse plugged in. Also, the boot partition now gave a choice of "xp, vista, older windows installations".
I have now put the computer back to the original state it was in for the time being. However, the route I would like to go down is to use the recovery partition to restore Vista and the factory settings on that particular partition.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this or what my best solution is? Like I say, holding 0 down whilst booting has no effect yet the recovery partition is still existent on the hard drive.
Unfortunately there are no recovery media that I have access to.
    Thanks

    Hi
The whole story is very interesting and I would like to help somehow. Your posting is pretty long with very useful information but, if I understand you right, you just want to install original Vista recovery image. Can you confirm this?
If you have more questions please ask one by one and then we can answer them one by one.
Anyway, if your answer is YES here is my explanation:
Recovery image saved on HDD can be used with factory settings only. With other words: when original recovery image is installed you will have full access to this recovery image. In case that some other OS is installed (Win7 or WXP) this original state will be overwritten and you will lose this recovery option ( HDD recovery installation ). Only way ti have factory settings again is to use recovery DVD disc. If your friend didnt create this disc (ignoring Toshibas recommendation) than you have big problem now.
Please tell us one more time what are your options now. what do you want to do now?

  • Cannot log into iTunes account after reinstalling Vista

I just reinstalled Vista on my friends laptop, and now it wont let me log into iTunes. It just keeps saying that the network connection is down, and to check my settings. ANyone know what the problem is?
COuld it be related to this:

    Stuart

    On the Netgear
The Access IP is normally 192.168.0.1 and the User ID is admin and the password is password when the pop down appears.
----Under SYSTEM PREFERENCES>NETWORK It shows Airport Connected to "Netgear 192.168.1.3" do not see User ID or password on the screen?
In the menu on the left the last (or near last item) is UPnP.
    Check this is Enabled.
----Do not see this listed anywhere
About two thirds of the way down the menu is WAN Set up
In hear Disable the Port Scan Line (It will read DOS (or SPI) and Port Scan)
There is another Line about "Blocking Responses to Ping on the WAN port" this needs to be Disabled as well (IChat sends a Ping to confirm where the Visible Invite went to is where the SIP stuff (In the Log about the error) is coming back from).
    On the DNS info.
This should be two IP address normally that are on the Internet.
These should appear on the RCA if it is accessible in a web Browser but more likely on the Router's Set Up pages (or Some sort of Summary page).
A 192.168.x.x address points to the Router (I would guess in this case) and whilst some routes can be DNS servers as well it is not that common and is only really useful to link a MAC (Ethernet and/or WiFi Card - Media Access Card Address) info to a Name for the Computers that are attached.
----Not sure where to find all this in OS 10.5.8
----Under System Preferences>Network with Airport highlighted I click advanced and go to TCP/IP is see two addresses the ipv4 = 192.168.1.3 and the router=192.168.1.1
(I have presumed that there are no other DNS servers are listed and the 192.166 bit was a typo)
---Correct i put a typo as i was not sure if it was secure to post.
If the Computer can do Wifi as well as Ethernet it should not have both Connected to the Router at the same time. (iChat "Sees" it as two Connections to the Internet).
--- The computer is only connected via Airport to the netgear router.

  • Do i need to reinstall?

My ical is acting weird. When I click on week view ical disappears. When i click on month view it zooms in close i have to click it again to see the whole month. In day view if i scroll up or down...wait i can't. What's up
If i need to reinstall how do i do it and can i just reinstall ical, everything else is working great.
    Jesse

    Jesse,
I hesitate to recommend a reinstallation of a specific application because I have not seen evidence that it is an effective troubleshooting procedure. On the other hand, I would be inclined to offer a reinstallation of the Mac OS X 10.4.6 Combo for PPC which is appropriate for your Powerbook.
For what it is worth, I have occasionally noticed the zoom behavior on my system. It has happened very rarely and I have not pursued an answer. The other behavior which you have observed may be related to the way you use Sync and iDisk.
Your new questions are valid and you would benefit from starting a new post in either the .Mac Sync or the iDisk forum.
    Good Luck,
    ;~)

Most or all aren't really a problem. Why they keep being reported is a mystery, but they're innocuous.
    Here's the scoop: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448
I have booted from my install disk and repaired permissions.
Not necessary. Use Disk Utility in your Applications/Utilities folder.
The reason I checked permissions in the first place was because a program was not opening (Limewire). The dock icon would bounce once then nothing.
You need to find out why that is. Reinstalling your entire OS is vast overkill, and probably won't help anyway. The simplest solution might be to re-download and reinstall it. If that doesn't help, your best bet might be to first search for Limewire in the +Using Leopard+ forum to see if anybody else has had the same problem. If not, post it there, with as much detail as you can.
Anti virus software shows no viruses
There are no Mac viruses. None. Most Mac users don't run any anti-virus software. Most of the anti-virus software, especially the stuff you pay for, is worse than a virus!
Some folks do run it, to keep from passing Windoze viruses they might get on to their PC friends. The free ClamXav is most often recommended here by those who know about such things, and they say it's the least obnoxious. Do a search for virus in the +Using Leopard+ forum, and read some of the many threads.
