Wrong Postal Location/Home address reported by Rou...

I moved from Cumbria to Suffolk about 6 weeks ago, maintaining my BT broadband account and Home Hub 2. When I log on to Icloud via my Wireless Network to locate my Ipad, the system reports that it has found my Ipad in Cumbria, at my previous address (even though it has never been there!). I guess that there is a database of router MAC addresses against physical locations for Wireless signals (or is is simple postal address ?). I also tried using my new Home Hub 3 (that has also never been to Cumbria!) and it still reports my old location, even though it will have a different MAC address. I have tried to resolve via Call Centres with not much luck.
Will my new home address eventually work through the system or do I need to ask somebody at BT to do something?

Hi, I recieved an e-mail as below, but not posted on this forum, so not sure if I should be posting or e-mailing to reply Anyway, I am not convinced that the advice is correct. My Ipad has never been North of Ipswich, so why would it be reporting that it lives in Cumbria? The only link is the router, which used to live in Cumbria ans now lives in Ipswich. I believe there is a database of wireless hotspots which still thinks my BT Hub lives in Cumbria!

i reported my address as incorrect several times since September - it's still wrong
download the new google maps app and try that - you will need to copy the address from contacts and paste to the search field (for now at least) but that not a big deal to locate your intended destination

On your iPhone go to Settings > Store.
Select the Apple ID at the bottom.
Select Sign Out at the menu selection provided.
Follow this by signing in with your new Apple ID/iTunes store account.
All apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the apps. In order to install an app update for the apps downloaded with your previous Apple ID/iTunes account, you will need to use that account and password.

Is the Mozilla Reward Center, offering VIP customers the chance to win an iPad and requesting my home address, genuine or a scam?

On my Google Nexus 5, when I access the app ASTRO file manager, I am daily receiving an ad from the "Mozilla Reward Center", offering VIP customers the chance to win an iPad and requesting my home address for shipping should I win.
It looks to me like a scam.
I have saved a pdf of the screen if anyone wishes to see it.
If anyone knows how to block the ads in ASTRO file manager, I would be grateful for help, but I suspect this is not possible.

This most likely (almost certainly actually) is a scam. Mozilla would never ask you for your home location - and not through an ad. Please don't click the link or provide your personal details.

How can I get a list of locations with address and contact info?

In Adobe Story Plus, I've gone through the effort of entering address and contact info for all locations. I would like to now use this information.
When I choose Sets and Locations, I get the set names only, separated by Studio and Location. No locations, no addresses.
When I choose to export the Set List as XML, I get an XML file that seem to contain the address information. However, it does not appear to be a valid XML file, readable neither in Excel nor Google Docs.
Are there reports that I can create that include this information? Is there a useful way to export XML and open in Excel/Number/Google Docs/Word, etc?
I'm about to embark on a search to how the XML can be formatted properly but this isn't really where I wanted to be spending my time on this project.

Yes. I tried it on Windows version.
Would you mind doing the following steps to view that XML file as a table in Safari? Then from safari, you can copy paste it Excel.
1. Export the Set List XML from Story.
2. Extract the 'transformSetListIntoTable.xsl' file from the attached zip file and place it in the same directory in which Set List XML is present.
3. Open the Set List xml file in a text editor and paste the following text at its very beginning.
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="transformSetListIntoTable.xsl"?>
4. Save the changes.
5. Open the Set List xml file in Safari
6. In Safari, Select All and paste it inside Excel.

Wrong name in email address and damaged index in address book

I have experienced this problem for months now. I have a Mac Pro at the office and MacBook Pro at home. The address book is synced with .mac. At random I will receive emails and the mail program will attach the wrong name with the address ( John doe [email protected] will be displayed as mary smith [email protected] ) this also happens in mail I have sent and copied myself on. The incorrect name is usually one that exist in my address book. The second part of the problem which may be related is the index for both address books will get damaged. Every few days I have to discard the address book index file ( AddressBook-v22.abcddb ) which fixes the index issue for a few days. The computers nor the applications ever crash. I wonder if the .mac syncing could be key to both computers having index issues. Rebuilding the address index does not fix the wrong name issue. Both computers are 10.5.2. I feel there is some deeper corruption issue that rebuilding that one index file does not correct. I have also rebuilt all the mail boxes.

SOLUTION: my ultimate solution to the address book confusing contact info in ichat, mail, etc. was to go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ and delete the AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. back up your contacts first!!! but after you delete and relaunch, Address Book will rebuild using the info from the Metadata folder. worked like a charm.

Why can't Siri locate contact addresses for map directions?

Having an issue with iphone 4s using Siri for locating addresses saved within contacts for map directions.
The problem is only evident on about half of the contacts so far.. the message i get is 'I couldn't find an address for .." even though the contact I asked for clearly has their address saved. I've doubled checked I've used the right address fields and seem fine.
I'm unable to distinguine the problem between the contacts where Siri works as it should and locate the address, and the ones it can't - including my home address.
Very frustating when I want directions in the car for driving and using hands free.
Any ideas guys?!

It seems to be a bug in the software. Other people have said it may have so something to do with siri not understanding UK postcodes properly. I don't really know but I seem to have found a solution, although cumbersome.
-Load up your contact from phonebook app
-Tap the address (apple maps should go straight to it)
-Double tap home and switch back to phonebook app
-Delete the address
-Diuble tap back into maps (the pin point should still be there)
-Press the little blue arrow on the pin
-Add to contacts > Existing contact
-Select contact
(Now this is the important bit)
-Tap edit then tap the right hand column off the address section in order to set it as home, work, etc.
-Done
Phew!!
It's long winded I know, but now I can just tell siri to get directions to so and so's home safely while driving without fiddling around tapping buttons.
Sort it out Apple. It should 'Just Work' outside of the US too you know.

Home address not shown correctly

   I just got my first iPhone today, the iPhone 4s, very happy I am.
   I also have an iPad 2 both have a similar issue.
   In my contact card I have my home address as
84 Beaconhurst Drive
Beacon Bay
East London
5241
South Africa
When I search for this address in maps, the maps more or less finds my address, albeit about 2 km out. However when I click the address on my address card it just slaps a pin in the middle of East London, and does the same for my work address, and any other address I have tried.
When I add a point to a map and try add that to my contact, all that comes up is Eastern Cape, East London.
This leaves me with two problems
1   When I Ask siri what is the weather for tomorrow, I am told, there is no weather for eastern cape, south Africa, despite the fact that the weather app is picking up my location.
2. When I tell Siri, remind me to xxx when I arrive at home, I am told Siri does not know where my home is.
Please help me ASAP, cause that feature is something I have been looking forward to, since I saw the ads.

the problem isn't your iPhone - apple uses google maps to determine your location and secondly Siri location based services doesn't play 100% nicely in SA yet - it does work - mine does in Cape Town - weather, location based reminders etc.
try adding your location/s manually to your iPhone by using Maps and then using your address book to add those locations and then try the location based reminders again - might work.

Siri home address not ID'ing

siri is not identifying when I arrive home but foursquare does. I checked my address book address and also checked siri has location on. is there a check list of things to check before thinking that siri is just plain broken?

Since the most recent upgrade, I have been having the same problem. SIRI recognizes my home address (it finds it if I ask for my home address), and I can set the reminder manually and it reminds me when I arrive at home. SIRI works if I ask it to remind me when I arrive at work, but when I ask it to remind me when I arrive at home, SIRI repeats 'when would you like me to remind you'. It used to work; it appears to be some bug.

Can a person get my full home address/name etc from my youtube account? or indeed from a public forum post such as this one?
When someone says "i have your ip address" can they actually find my house now?
This is a very serious issue as i have recieved personal threats from a youtuber who noww says he will post mine (and others) home addresses on his website and then "deal with us"....
Now ofcourse he could be bluffing... But if by some means i go onto his site and find my full name and address on his website then it can only of come from someone at BT BROADBAND correct?
Just how can this be done? Im very worried. I would ofcourse take legal action agains BT if an employer had gave my address out to a random person who called up and said "i need the address of this IP holder"
Am i worrying over nothing?

Hi anonymous66, the short answer is no.
As regards the personal threats from someone on youtube, You should report these (with any evidence if possible) to Youtube.

No , that is not correct.
For all you know that person on Youtube who is threatening you could turn out to be your next door neighbour/ your milkman, your postman or one of a thousand other people you know.
If he was of sufficiant intelligence to hack into BT's databases, then I am sure he would be able to hack into countless other companies databases.

Not nothing, but as long as you take adequate precautions when you are online then you are safe.
In over 20 years of computer use using online purchases/banking and all manner of things, I have only ever had 2 unauthorised money transactions. Both were dealt with in a timely manner with just phone or email contact with my online bank and an Online Payment company .

How often does Apple Maps update address locations?? there is an address in Gainesville, Fl it is a health facility as it was priority to locate, the address is 4037 NW 86th Terr, 32606. I had to use my google maps app... it then took me to the correct address and located it no problem. please update at least this address so people in need of health care don't go through the same thing I had to endure...

The satellite imagery on Apple Maps shows that whole area as undeveloped woods. Google shows a brand new building with the nearby streets.
Use the "Report a Problem" button on the Maps to inform Apple of the required update.

Siri Navigate Home can't find my home address (UK)

...even though I have filled in my home address accurately. I get the same problem trying to navigate to work. If I go to my contact entry and tap on the address that's there, it opens maps ti the correct location. It just seems to be an issue with Siri.
On a positive note, this text was dictated by Siri rather successfully!

I'm in Calgary Alberta Canada. ALL Siri functions are reputedly working here. My wife just bought a new 4S and she can get direstions, local restaurants weather, etc. I just continually get "Open Location Services, etc or locations in Toronto, 6,000 kms away! I have never had full Siri function since I purchased the 4S as soon as it came out and just assumed this it was not available in Canada. I am fully updated with all apps to iOS6.

I can't see icloud contact home addresses on my iphone

I recently downloaded icloud control panel on my Windows PC. Synced Contacts, Calendar & Reminders to icloud. Just now discovered that I can't see home address for my contacts on my iphone 5 - but the home address does show on icloud. What am I doing wrong?

Close out of the mail app. Then double click the home button, find the mail app hold down on it until you see the red minus sign and click on it.
then go back into your mail app and check the email.
