Wrong preview in Finder Cover flow
Hi
I'm with OS X Maverick and my finder is showing incorrect previews when I user Cover Flow
Please look the image above, a excel file is select and it's showing a jpg file in Cover Flow
What do I do?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Does Finder cover flow ignore monitor profile/wide gamut for JPG?
Hi,
beeing a proud (?) owner of a wide gammut display I use a special monitor profile to see correct colour which of course only works in applications which support it. I expect the Finder to be such an application at it mostly is.
ButI found on my System with Lion 10.7.3 that my JPGs display wrong/oversaturated in the finder cover flow.
This is independant of embedded or not embedded ICC profiles in the JPGs, but just an issue with the selected monitor profile.
The error is NOT observed e.g. for JPEG 2000 files!
The error is NOT observed for other image display options within the finder, so only the cover flow is effected!
Further I can not remember to have seen it earlier in Snow Leopard.
Can anybody also see this issue?

how can i memorize the finder cover flow zone size respect the file list one?
if i have 1 finder window open and i open another one il will keep the same proportion, but if i close all it will start with the initial cover flow sizeI am having a similar problem

Has anyone noticed the Finder Cover Flow Background in Lion is very distracting? Let me explain... On my MacBook Pro, mid 2009 (with or without the Cinema Display attached) it shows up as a "glowing gradient" where the white is very overpowering. I also put Lion on my daughters MBP (which is older) and hers looks very normal. Seems odd, but I'm confident that someone has a solution.
I've been researching and havne't found any answers. It may just be that I'm not searching correctly for the answer!
Does anyone know how to change the cover flow background to a solid color? Also the text under the icon shows up dark and hard to read (not a biggie there though). I tried also to look at the finder defaults in Terminal to see what there might be and didn't see anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's an annoyance and nothing more than that.You're correct, that would help!!!
It's a nice Hollywood effect.
Here's a screen shot of cover flow from my iTunes. Notice the nice black background (and EWF).
Something had to get changed somewhere because the text is black also. This was a fresh install of Lion on a newly formatted drive so I can't blame it on leftover stuff from SL. I haven't run any scripts or anything to change things so I thought maybe there was something in System Preferences and didn't know it. I spent a while looking through it and found nothing.

Strange sparkling graphics glitch in finder cover flow view!
Hi there,
Recently my finder cover flow view has been displaying what can be described as 'sparkling' effects around the folders/icons when i move from one file to another (sparkling stops when movement of icons does). The sparkling effect can be described as small white dots flashing then disappearing at random points on the black background of the cover flow view. This does not happen all the time and seems to be more prevalent when there different icons next to one another. just wondered if anyone else is having this issue and if anyone can offer me some advise? When using Cover Flow the image preview in the main window (not the thumbnail list at the bottom) images appear but only use about 1/2 of the window space available. It is also showing black/blank preview images as I scroll through the files even though they are cached.
I enlarge the Finder to fill my 27 inch display, slide the size adjustment handle (three lines under the file name preview) all the way down as far as I can. The preview only enlarges to a certain point leaving the upper half of the window unused. I wish to enlarge the cover flow preview images to use this window space even if it affects the overlapping or number of cover flow images avaialble in the window. I am assuming this is becasue of the nature of cover flow showing the two previous and two following images to the left and right of the previewed image. As I scroll left and right occsionally one of the upcoming images will appear as and empty preview as well. It's all goofed up.
Hoping for any suggestions.
I have seen articles about using terminal to adjust "flow height" but never anything substainial that seemend like an informed solution.I also would like to know if there is an answer to this. My landscape photos always display with a third of the cover flow window as blank empty space (matching your screenshot). This seems like such a waste. Is there any way to change the "padding" between the top of the finder bar and the cover flow preview?

Finder/Cover Flow is out of sync by one file?
Hi all, I've had this problem for a while and it's really frustrating.In Finder using the 'Cover Flow' option, my files are out of sync by one file. By 'out of sync', I mean the the bottom half of the screen is showing one file but the top half of the screen is 'previewing' the wrong file by one. It's only off by one file, but this is really annoying.
When I use the view options 'Icons', 'list' or 'columns' I don't have this problem.What can I do?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by loggin out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.

You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
If you look at the 'More Like This' box (top right) it seems the Cover Flow view is having problems.

Finder Cover Flow is broken and doesn't show the correct file I click on
When I go into my Downloads and press the spacebar to preview a photo, it will preview the photo before it for some weird reason.
Example:
I highlight and press space for "Photo 2", but instead it will show "Photo 1" in the Cover Flow and will Preview that instead.Totally broken for me too. This is a giant, gaping hole in the OS LOL. I fire up a Finder window w/ cover flow view, erase a file, and now the highlighted image in the list below is off by one file and it doesn't remove the preview of the just-deleted file in the Cover Flow pane. Sad. This is just an embarrassing bug Big A. How do you not fix this before going public with a major point release? Not to mention the scrolling issue.

Finder Cover Flow initial view
How can I set the initial view settings when using cover flow within finder-
the finder file/folder list at the bottom of the window is way too short and the cover flow file preview portion of the window is massive.
Appreciate?For me, I find that when I resize the window, it stays that way. If it doesn't stick for you, try resizing, and then pressing Command-J to open View Preferences, check the Always Open in Cover View box at the top, and the Use as Defaults at the bottom. They're not directly related, but I've found that the helped.
If those don't help, go to the folder ~/Library/Preferences (where ~ stands for you Home folder), and remove a couple of files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
In the ByHost folder, there will be one or more com.apple.HIToolbox.randomjunkthatdoesn'tmatter.plist file; remove all of them.
Log in/out, and see if that helps. -
OSX 10.7.2 Nikon NEF files not displaying properly in finder cover flow?
Since installing Lion, the finder in cover flow mode no longer displays hi resolution previews of Nikon NEF files (but works fine with PSDs). Has anyone else had this problem?
iPhoto is fully updated.
I do not have Aperture installed.
I also use a Canon 400D dslr. I have no problem viewing Canon's RAW files' previews in Cover flow mode.
But my NEF files from Nikon are the ones that appear in low resolution. Canon RAW files appear perfect. -
Large file Tiffs are pixelated in finder-cover flow
50MB tiffs are very pixelated in the finder
in LEOPARD
(cover flow )
this is a bug i guessI dont know much about file formats, but TIFF is fairly complex, and if it has space for an image preview, it could very well be that the preview has a low number of pixels and thats what's being displayed in cover flow. Not sure though. Have you tried re-saving the files in TIFF format with preview options turned off?

10.9.3 finder cover flow doesn't save image size
I went from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.3. Everything went ok, but I have one annoying problem though.
Everytime I open a cover flow window in Finder I have to resize the image preview section. The Finder window size is saved,
but not the actual image size of the cover flow. It always goes back to a default, very small, size everytime I reopen the Finder window.
Didn't have this problem in Snow Leopard. It worked great. I just know one other person with the same problem. He just bought his MacBook Pro with Mavericks
and I am on a late 09 MacBook. So it shouldn't be a problem with just my Mac and Mavericks.
So my question is;
Will there be any solution to this soon? Maybe a program update to be released, regarding this issue?
Thank you for any feedback!Ok, more information for anyone that might care. The wake-up seems to be the familiar dark wake in order to go into hibernate mode. Except now, it's a death wake. Looking at the logs, I see that it happens exactly 70 minutes after sleeping, even though hibernatemode = 0 (which shouldn't hibernate at all!)
So my power settings look like this:

Are the Finder Cover Flow options as limited as I think?
Hello there,
Been a happy user of macs for about eight years now and do a lot of work in graphic design. As a result navigating folders and previewing content is very important to me and the ease of my work flow. I have to say however that while Finder provides a somewhat decent solution in 'Coverflow' I believe that it's far too limited in scope.
My main irk (if you will) is that while using cover flow the browsing option seems limited to the 'list' browsing method which, personally, I can't stand. I find it odd that there is no option to use Cover Flow with the column browser. Is this 100% the case? Or is there something I'm missing, maybe even a work around that allows me to do so (and no, not quicklook).
Honestly it doesn't strike me as something difficult to implement because both coverflow and columns already exist.
I'm sure that if such a feature existed I'd use and appreciate Cover Flow far more. Anybody else share this feeling?
Anyway back to the drawing tablet.
JasYes. The icon to switch between cover flow view and multicolumn view doesn't offer both. Whether or not it is a reason why, but you get a preview of the contents of the files when you select them in the column to their right in column view. List view doesn't offer you a preview except in coverflow. So coverflow is a way of giving List view a preview without destroying the integrity of the list.

I only seem to bring up a few files in cover flow that show up with an icon. All others are blank... Is anyone else having this problem? Shouldn't all file show up in cover flow with an icon?

Finder cover flow not playing .mp4 files
Recently I found the option to play video files while in the cover flow view in a finder window (click on the right pointing arrow that appears when hovering over the thumbnail).
This week when I try playing a video (.mp4 files), I can see that the video is playing but it is not displayed. I know it is playing because I can hear the sound track, can see the reflection of the video below where the display of the video should be and the progress circle works.
MacBook / 10.6.2
Anybody else seeing this? Anyone have a solution?This was fixed in the 10.6.4 update.
